So when illithid Tav at the end of the game decides to kill himself, he is greeted by withers. Despite illithids having no soul, he is able to recognize Tav. The explanation given is that Tav is some kind of anomaly and that some parts of his soul still remain.
So what if that is the key to rogue mind flayers? What if some people, with strong enough souls, manage to unconsciously dodge their death thru ceremorthose by transfering parts of their soul into the new illithid body.
And that's why the emperor, omeluum and Illithid Tav are different. They still have parts of their souls.
BENEATH THE READ MORE IS A POLL THAT CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BALDUR'S GATE 3 - I WOULDN'T NORMALLY DO THIS, BUT I NEED SOME ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO
Who should I side with in the final battle? The choices are ass follows.
Side with the Emperor: No one has to become Illithid but I screw over the entire Githyanki race and Lae'zel in specific and dit feelss like a douchebag move.
Side with Orpheus: Potential salvation for the the Githyanki and feels like the right thing but someone has to become Illithid or Gale has to blow himself up.
So, please vote. Also offer me any advice you can. I'm really torn on this.
