poor quality video but I'm making a fake a smart tv interface (html file opened with firefox) to make our tv better for streaming. namely so it can use twitch without a huge delay and play youtube videos without ads. it's still a work in progress though. a bunch of those oddball services are only included so I could check spacing and such with more tiles. also I still haven't put a media server together yet to do anything with plex.

#cheap remote works like a really bad wii remote and it gets really mad at me whenever I get too close to its reveiver #its not going to run off the laptop btw it was just easier to work off that

i tried turning on my shitty old TV i never use and it basically started smelling strongly of burning plastic and refused to do anything so it may be time to send it to a farm upstate where TVs can run and play

anyways turns out a cheap ass hp laptop WILL run like a cheap ass hp laptop, and I'm not special and I will get what I paid for and i hate it here. will i learn my lesson? probably not but this thing is outta the box and running at like. dismal speeds with edge and task manager as the only apps open. full 20 seconds to get anything open. i'm going to see about returning it and just trying to get my surface pro fixed. again. anyways tldr i should have listened to the reddit bros who said hp was garbage

the absolute state of my laptop (functionally a desktop tower now). this is the third laptop I've done this to (every laptop I've owned). I think laptops are the problem

i havent used my laptop since i got it back from the repair place and. the lid sensor is not working. the laptop does not register the lid being opened or closed. this would have been noticeable when the display was replaced, had they checked that. so. im... kinda frustrated.

#going to have to call them tomorrow & hope i dont have to pay any more for it bc this is clearly related to the installation of the display #also the mic isnt working well which is probably bc of the camera issue. but they didnt tell me that when i picked it up #im choosing to believe that they unintentionally forgot to test until proven otherwise because they had good reviews and seemed nice #sorry for ranting it's just frustrating that my laptop isn't doing what it's supposed to. esp when it wasnt cheap to fix & #that they ended up breaking the camera and werent able to fix it. i had to pay for a webcam on top of the repairs

Slight My Own Opinion about posts about a different post going around about whether or not you're poor if you do or do not have a computer or whatever.

People will argue stuff like "oh you can easily go get a cheap laptop for like $200" like HELLO where am I going to get $200? You think I just have that to spend on a new laptop?

I do currently have a laptop, but it's literally falling apart and I only got it because I got some money after selling my dad's car after his death in 2017. I don't have that money anymore, and I can't afford to buy even a "cheap" replacement. And even if I could, what the fuck good is a cheap laptop? So I can easily jerk off on Twitter or Tumblr about how easy it is to buy stuff? That shit does internet browsing only. Even if someone can afford a "cheap laptop", the amount of work you can do with one is pretty limited.

Saying "yeah I got a cheap laptop for a couple hundred dollars and that's all I need" is in itself a privileged statement, sorry.

Really pissed off at the number of adaptors I've had to buy for my laptop bc all they care about is it being thin when actually I just want enough usb ports, a disk drive and an SD card reader 🤷 I even had to buy a usb hub to put my usb adapted drives in Is2g

Good news! Was able to get into my computer with a replacement battery and download all my content/email all my documents to myself. Bad news! My computer still won’t charge for whatever goddamn reason, so I am still computer-less! Fun!

Words cannot explain the stress frenzy I worked myself into trying to pick a new laptop.

#personal #there are other major sources of stress in my life right now and they have all filtered out into my search for a perfect laptop #i have annoyed every single person in my life with my search #note that i plan to use this laptop mostly so i can write outside of the house and not on my phone #this has been going of for months #i think i might go with this other refurnished hp with a touch screen #it has better battery life than the other one i found (2 to 4 hours sounds relatively reasonable) and it's only 555km #i have 100 in my spare chang piggy bank and I'll get another 50 for my birthday #so it would cost me 400km in total #unless the new one I liked comes back to sale in the next day or two #but i think I'm being a cheap statke again and that's not good because i might get trash again #yes i know it's not that deep #but my sister's husband is sick i am fuckin depressed and i want to kms most days and i hate my job and my exitance #let me care about this laptop because that's like one thing I can fix
