today in insane anti-intellectualism: I just saw a post about how aspiring healthcare practitioners shouldn't take classes in biology and chemistry because those subjects are useless and bad. ????

#the op was like “they should have to study literature and the human condition like ME” #and it's like. hmmmm. I can understand where you're coming from here buddy but maybe think for a hot second #about why aspiring doctors have to take biology 101 before they can jump right into microbial genetics and viral pathogenesis or whatever #like. these classes build on each other. you absolutely need a basic understanding of college-level bio and chem before you can do anything #as someone who is very passionate about both science and writing #(I am getting a degree in microbiology and medical HUMANITIES. because I LIKE HUMANITIES) #I hate the rhetoric that certain STEM subjects are lame boring loser classes for closed-minded idiots who can't see the beauty in the world #there is so much beauty in biology and chemistry and physics! the universe is so big and weird and fascinating #but you'll never see that if you have the mentality that YOUR favorite subjects are the Only Ones That Matter Ever #for the record (as someone who's taken a lot of STEM and humanities classes recently) both STEM and humanities majors do this #and it's obnoxious no matter where it's coming from

Well, after watching Zoey 101 for the first time, I am now a Quogan fan. Which has led to me really craving two fanfics that don't exist (as far as I know):

#1 A fanfic that takes place after the prom where Logan and Quinn are out as a couple, and their friends have no idea, but they think their friends know. For those wondering how would their friends not have heard about their relationship through the rumor mill, well, Logan and Quinn's announcement ended up getting beaten by the news that Stacey no longer has a lisp. This fanfic should be around 10,000 words or higher, be funny, and it should take a really long time for the friends to find out. Also, of course Lisa already knows everything and thinks they are super cute together, and Vance is able to figure it out quickly. Neither of them realize the rest of the group doesn't know (after all, it's so obvious!), and they are the only ones who act normally when Quinn and Logan are being affectionate, while the rest of the group has their eyes bugging out.

#2 A fanfic where Logan secretly has a thing for Quinn before they get together. There are already fanfics with this plot out there, but reading those made me want to have one that was at least 30,000 words, and has a lot of angst. I want the Logan pov (not first person mind you) where he is in denial of his feelings, then figures they'll fade away, but his feelings get even stronger over time, and he has to accept that he has genuine feelings for someone (which he's not used to, since he's only ever gone out with girls where his only interest is that they are pretty) he believes could never feel the same. They don't necessarily need to get together at the end of the fic, I think I would actually prefer an open ending. Though there could be hints of Quinn starting to develop feelings for Logan.

obv the movie is titled zoey 102 but the most annoying thing about it was that we didn't even really get to see quinn and logan in their relationship. like the focus was almost always on their conflicts with regards to the marriage but the first real moment between them where it wasn't about that conflict was when they had their first dance and quinn teased him about the oyster shuckers. and it was such a small moment but i loved it and i want more insight into their daily life and the everyday teasing and uplifting and idk like again obv the title is zoey 102 but i don't think most people would disagree that it fully being a movie about quinn and logan would have been so much better. like the zoey and chase plot took up so much unnecessary space and their sudden bout of closure didn't even make sense bc they had one conversation prior to it after over a decade of mutual non-communication so why was any of this more important than quinn and logan. esp logan tbh. like quinn kind of had the liberty of a few moments to herself where she expressed her worldview in her own way but logan had close to none up until the proposal and yes i do love that he's quinn's number one supporter but i also wanted to know what that was like outside of the context of the wedding if that makes sense. like how he exists in their day to day relationship. there were glimpses of that in the final wedding sequence but i wanted so much more and i know the idea of a spin-off is so delusional at this point but the cast do apparently want to do it and i for one would love an exclusively quinn and logan spin-off where zoey and chase can be side characters ig 🙄 so.. why not!

#zoey 101 #zoey 102 #quinn x logan #quogan #i was very wary of the idea of a spin off at first but now that we know dan schneider is completely divorced of the project #i feel more inclined to want it if it's possible #granted i do still think the cast needs to work out their issues with alexa bc that was still shitty #but with the way the timing of jennette mccurdy's book worked out i have this feeling it contributed to their maybe #reevaluating their relationship with him. like they reunited with him barely a few years ago so it was surprising to see him not involved #in this movie. but the fact that production started only a few months after jennette's release really feels significant to me idk #like obv i don't want to make excuses for the cast but when you're a kid doing that work and parents are largely controlling you bts #i think it's fair to say you may be less inclined to want to admit that your experience working on a show was fucked up #bc it's scary to think it could have been. and from the response jennette got i feel like it was a huge catharsis for a lot of people #so who knows. maybe her book was what they needed to recognize that how he treated them was fucked up too #or at least that's what i hope. but anyway. erin and matt are super super sweet and their chemistry is phenomenal and i want a show

My take on Logan & Quinn in OG Zoey 101: he said before he kissed her that he thought she was pretty, and was being honest cuz he said “kinda fun,” but I think he went hard on his “she’s a geek, spaz, weirdo” thing cuz he was so insecure about being good at science but not great in other subjects.

Which, oddly enough, is why I think they work so well because they both understand very technical things and are therefore able to communicate effectively. Idk how people ever forget that Logan could be a chemist if he wanted to, I think of it whenever I think of Quinn’s job. That man is not just a dumb, pretty side-piece. He CHOOSES to focus on Quinn & her career. Because he never had a passion for career like she did. So he’s thrilled to support hers.

So there’s like this big chemistry midterm before 1st semester break. I envision Quinn and Logan took about five minutes studying the material that they already knew, and then snuggled on the lounge couch watching a movie.

We’ll just say, that if Zoey and Lola even tried to invite themselves in…Quinn made the power go out just like in “Quinn Misses the Mark,” which of course led to some much needed alone time with very little “studying.” 😉

i used to be really good at and into science and math stuff in high school especially chemistry but since spending four years at university getting the world's most useless degree (BA music) (not even performance emphasis) (point and laugh) i haven't really done anything stem since then apart from the worst required physics 101 class in the galaxy so now instead of being smart and doing actual experiments in the lab myself i microdose science by watching chemists on youtube do shit like trying to make a fast food hamburger as flammable as possible
