Seeing REO Speedwagon and Styx ON THE SAME NIGHT- Part 2

This part is exclusively the Styx stuff. Buckle up.

forgot to mention in the last post that the merch for REO wasn't that good? I didn't buy an REO shirt bc there genuinely wasn't anything I wanted, so I bought a keychain

the styx shirts, however, were awesome and I bought one PLUS and an autographed cd of their newest greatest hits compilation

I was already at the point of passing out by the time REO was done

oH btw i forgot to mention that the ppl next to us were super nice it was a husband and wife and the husband RECOGNIZED MY ART FROM INSTAGRAM ???? BC REO SHARED IT ;O; I literally started tearing up

anyway when Styx came out all hell broke loose as far as my insanity goes

Seeing Tommy irl up close(ish) still felt like I was staring at my computer screen

seeing gOWAN UP CLOSE HOWEVER-

((So a bit of background info before I continue: in the days and weeks prior to this, I have been texting Gowan on instagram. Just the occasional story reply and whatnot, nothing frequent or long-winded. I'd just like his responses and move on. However, I did want to let him know I'd be at the Allentown show just because, so when he was posting from Philadelphia two days ago, I bid him a bright welcome from eastern PA and said I'd see him in Allentown the next day, and that I'd be the one "near the front wearing a Gowan shirt"))

((he liked the message and responded to it with his stupid avatar as always. All systems were go. He knew I was gonna be there.))

((should point out here there was oNE OTHER PERSON IN THE ENTIRE FAIR WEARING A GOWAN SHIRT, AND SHE WAS AT THE FUCKING BARRIER))

((however my shirt was better bc it actually had his face and logo on it, whereas hers was just your typical airbrushed shirt with the word "gowan" on it (plus a cap)))

SO, with that background info:

I was basically right in front of his spinning piano/keyboard/organ, just 5 rows deep.

During the first fucking song (To Those), Gowan fucking recognized me. He fucking recognized me. He straight up pointed at me with this big smile on his face and kept doing his little hand motions in my direction and nodding- he fucking knew it was me.

this led to a relationship- a love affair, if you will- between me and our dearest Larry for about the first half of the set.

He sang Lady to me. HE SANG LADY TO ME. It was part of the second/third verse but he was SINGING LADY TO ME ASADFAKJFABSDJGBDFKJBGEAEUOGHHHHFFFFFFFFFFFF

And now I am become Lady, of the Morning

we'd sing to each other and do hand motions to each other it was magical I never wanted it to end

AT ONE POINT- i forget what song it was- HE WAS PLAYING PIANO AND LOOKING AT ME SO I BLEW HIM A KISS AND HE FUCKIN SWOONED AT ME OGSRTNGERGNGSRNTGOI HELPPPPP

what i mean by that is that he fuckin leaned back as if the kiss had "hit" him and let his eyes roll back a little bit i HATE HIMMMM (affectionate)

TOMMY POINTED AT ME DURING LORELEI WHICH I WAS SURPRISED AT BC I WAS SO FAR AWAY FROM HIM BUT IT WAS **DEFINITELY** ME HE WAS POINTING AT BC I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD MY ARMS UP AND I WAS JUMPING

I think Tommy might've looked at me and nodded a few times at me after that throughout the set but I'm only half sure of that, but when he pointed at me during Lorelei was the only time i was 100% sure he acknowledged me

GOWAN'S SPARKLY COAT AND HAT FOR ROCKIN THE PARADISEEEE

Rockin the Paradise had to be the height of the night i stg it goes so hard

Gowan introducing Will and saying he weighs in at 365 pounds

Gowan introducing JY and saying he weighs in at 100 pounds and stands 3'6'' or something

Gowan introducing Ricky as a member of the Babys and then saying he hit early puberty after being a Baby

CHUCK WAS THERE AsDFKASDHFAAAAAAAA I WAS GENUINELY NOT EXPECTING CHUCK TO BE THERE I WAS SO HAPPYYYYY

When Gowan called Chuck out for Lost At Sea, Chuck just like fucking trudged across the stage like he didn't wanna be there and it made Gowan laugh in the middle of his sentence and he said "nice entrance, by the way"

I was so fucking dehydrated by the middle of their set that i swear to GOD when larry started playing Khedive it felt like it quenched my painful thirst

Tommy had 3 different outfits throughout the set. The second one was like pink and purple camo or something i love him. the third one was s l u t t y.

Can I just say I MUCH prefer the live version of Lost At Sea

Gowan called us the "Allentown choir" bc Come Sail Away was coming up

Come Sail Away is always so ethereal like holy shit "magical" doesn't begin to scrape the surface

Even Tommy was bopping otgnioerginaerg

Tommy didn't come over to stage right the entire time except for at the very end of Renegade and that's the closest I've ever been to him in my life

HIS SMILE IS EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON

SEEING HIM JUMP AND DO HIGH LEG KICKIES AND SEEING HIS HAIR GO SWOOSH IRL AAAAAAAAA

I THINK JY might've been looking at me at some points but again i genuinely couldn't tell

At the end of the set I held up Tommy's portrait and Gowan was trying to get a look at it but probably couldn't tell bc i was far away and there was probably a glare

only one pick during this entire night got thrown in the general area of where I was and I don't even remember who threw it tbh I don't even remember what BAND it was during

I then waited by the bus exit for like 15 minutes, peeking through the fence before a security guard asked me what I was doing. I briefly explained to him I just had prints for the bands and he told me "the first band" had already left and "the second band" was about to and that they 'don't get things'

I asked him once or twice just to confirm that there was no one I could give them to in order for them to get them, just so I knew that the Mission had come to its end.

EDIT: GOWAN MADE THE "BASS PRO SHOP" JOKE WITH CHUCK ONSTAGE BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

EDIT: When tommy segued into Too Much Time he did the thing again— "try and picture yourself in the early days of MTV, just try and picture yourself there" and when the song started he froze and did these crazy eyes looking from side to side like 👀 "oh shit..."

at the line "i can solve the world's problems without even trying" he did this limp wrist type thing kfksakkfogof he also did the lil "i'd go out cruisin" hand

allegedly after their bows Todd kissed tommy on the cheek or something gnskqkofykgkd

Epilogue: I texted Gowan this morning. Will update on that later.

Seeing Def Leppard for the 2th time

this time rachel (@ballistic-lipstick-dream-machine ) and i were in Pittsburgh, PA (which is a VERY long drive for both of us- about 4 hours) and we did NOT plan this 3 years in advance, so our seats weren't nearly as good as they were in Hershey. NOTE: I wasn't paying super close attention this time as I'd essentially seen this exact show exactly a month ago today, and i was a LOT further away than I was last time, so there really isn't much to say?

we met up with the Die Hard Fans people in Pittsburgh (which included hanging out with @hungercityhellhound and meeting them in person for the first time!!!)

after that we headed to the baseball stadium

was nice to hear Classless Act's whole set this time and not get poured on 😭

Everything about that show was perfect. It’s like he knew exactly what the fandom needed, and now we know they timed the encore dates to match with when 2seok could attend. His band matched his energy and were so fun! Everything about these encore concerts have been nothing short of perfect, and I feel a great deal of pride, respect, and gratitude that Min Yoongi exists. And even more so that BTS exists.

Seeing REO Speedwagon and Styx ON THE SAME NIGHT- Part 1

Firstly this was at the Allentown fairgrounds, and it was the opening night of the fair, so it was CROWDED. I was 5th row which was a major disappointment to me personally bc I'm ALWAYS at the barrier for every show I'm at. I bought these tickets over 6 months ago, so much has happened since then, and the night has finally arrived...

When Rachel and I got to the fair we walked around for a short time until I saw an alley that looked like it led to the grandstands/concert area. I swore I heard music coming from there, so I let it draw me in and just kept walking towards it

It was Music Man. REO Speedwagon was soundchecking. We stood there and watched their soundcheck from afar

I went to search where the busses were JUST IN CASE i was able to give Kevin and Tommy prints of their portraits

^^I called this my Mission or The Mission. But in order to not get my hopes up, my prime directive was: Go to this concert and try everything you can to take whatever you can get under the circumstances you are given.

I stayed true to this Mission right until the very end, so in that sense, the Mission was completed.

I was so excited before REO came on i almost cried. The sky looked so beautiful and you could just FEEL something in the air

they were playing music on the speakers and then suddenly the song cut, and Allentown by Billy Joel started playing, signifying that they were about to come on, and that something you could feel in the air only got STRONGER

I tried going up to the barrier when REO first came out but only front row ppl were allowed to do that so I got turned away by security

should point out i was not exactly within pick-throwing range- like picks went over me but all in all it wasn't an ideal spot for that

I stg i was the only one dancing and jumping

BRUCETHAN ELIZABETH HALL. I had him WHIPPED the whole set. It started with him looking at me probably during the first or second song and nodding at me and smiling and it just rolled from there

The last (and only other time) I saw REO i was right in front of Dave the entire time and I had him whipped too so it was only right that I had Bruce this time

I'd be makin hearts and blowing kisses n shit and he'd laugh and smile and nod at me

At one point early on in their set he was at the back of the stage in between songs and I saw him looking in my direction, so I just kinda fluttered my fingers sheepishly at him and the MOTHERFUCKER COPIED ME SROGNSOGNIDFGIAENTIH i LOVE HIM

during Keep On Loving You- JUST like last time when Dave was singing it to me- BRUCE WAS SINGING IT TO ME AT THE PEAK OF THE SONG YHGFPHFGMHRISRYSM HE STUCK HIS TONGUE OUT AT ME I STG I NEED TO FIND A VIDEO OF IT

I was also being stupid and trying to hold up my prints at the end of the set int he hOPES someone would see it

Bruce definitely saw the Kevin portrait but idk if he could actually TELL what it was

unfortunately Bruce was the only person whose attention i got in REO this time

Kevin saying how Rick Springfield is the best guy to go to for beauty advice

Kevin's patriotism is a little alarming as always soigneorginaergonr he always makes this speech before Golden Country that's like very pro-nationalism yet talks about achieving peace and then plays Golden Country- the most radical song out there- and it's all very confusing tprthrprtkdtdthtsptjh

REO's setlist was short :( they cut out at least 3 songs because they weren't the "headliner" i guess... they didn't play That Ain't Love, Building the Bridge, Keep the Fire Burnin', or even Music Man ?!? they soundchecked with Music Man but they didn't play it ?!!?!? all those songs have been in all their recent setlists so i was disappointed in that

Derek (the replacement for Neal) is also phenomenal

the sky behind them (there were like nylon curtains at the back of the stage instead of a wall bc it's the fairgrounds) looked hEAVENLY- it looked like they were playing iN THE SKY

I cried a bit during their set ngl bc I was just like I Love REO Speedwagon So Much They Are Part Of My DNA

but all in all nothing will EVER top that very first time I saw them. That was my very first concert and it set my expectations EXTREMELY too high for every single concert I go to now

EDIT: they always pay tribute to Gary and when they did that, Bruce put a hand over his heart and looked up at the sky and i think that's when i cried

Seeing Skid Row in Concert 20/10/2022✨

This was my first ever rock concert and wow did it set the bar high! I saw them in Brighton with my sister, and the support bands were Collateral and Enuff Z’nuff. the venue was essentially a small nightclub, definitely not designed with bands like Skid Row in mind, but it just made it more intimate and a better vibe overall🥰 I can honestly say that this was one of the best nights on my life so far, and I'll try my best to recount the events. Pictures will be posted soon!

Even tho we got there about 90 mins before doors, we were still second in line and were let in after about 40 mins.

I was talking to a lady in the line as well who had seen the Stadium Tour, and basically every rock band you could think of.

like we would name drop and she would say “aw yes i’ve seen them they're great i’m friends with x members” I honestly love that for her she was so cool.

I was expecting to be waiting for a while so I didn't have my tickets ready and was panicking trying to find them lmao. I was right near the front of the line ofc so I was panicking and holding everyone up but it was fine in the end😂

after that fiasco that wast really a fiasco we went in and we were RIGHT FRONT AND FUCKIN CENTER YALL!

it wasn't long at all until Collateral, the first support act, came on and they were actually aMAZING??? 

They were all on the younger side so I love that they chose up and coming bands to support.

I also forgot how loud live music is let alone rock/metal music rip my ears and I could feel the bass in my fuckin bones

The lead singer of Collateral was the biGGEST HOE EVER I LOVE HIM SM

mans was pullin shapes and swishing his long af hair around I love that

at one point he got up onto the barrier and was singing right into this one woman’s soul, she was holding onto his hips and he was holding her face with one had uUHHH it was all very hoe-ish of him and I know that woman was absolutely living 

the guitarist also tried to crowd surf (I think?) but I think the security stopped him AKDJFKHJ so he was just kinda sitting on the barrier shredding on the guitar as you do ofc

anyways yeah Collateral were cool af and very early Skid Row esque you should check them out!

The next support act was Enuff Z’nuff and oh my god were they eccentric.

I've heard of the band before and i’ve listened to a few of their songs but I didn't know how cool they were live!

Chip, the lead singer and bassist, is just the epitome of seasoned glam rocker dude and he was so chaotic.

as in the band entered the stage to circus music (you know the one I mean) and I was like oH ok this is what we’re dealing with.

thy also played a glam metal version of Eleanor Rigby which was beautiful and unexpected.

one of the guitarists looked so much like Mike from the Young Ones as well, and the drummer was also v cute I think I might have a small crush on him-

but now its the time you've all been waiting for: SKID MF ROW ARE IN THE HOUSEEE

the last song the venue played before Skid Row went on was Crazy Train and everyone was losing their shit it was awesome 

just as they were coming onto the stage Scotti gave me The Eyes™ and I almost evaporated there and then. boi was also wearing sO much eyeliner it was beautiful.

btw incase you didn't know the new singer for Skid Row is a very dapper younger lad by the name of Erik Grönwall, lets just say he will be a very important character throughout the rest of this report.

before they went into the first song and the guitars were just kinda reverbing, Erik just stood right in fucking front of me and sTARED AT EVERONE WITH THE BIGGEST GRIN ON HIS FACE LFJKLDHFKD IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT YALL

they opened with Slave to the Grind and

wow

just wow

they sound iNCREDIBLE live and Erik has the most AMAZING VOICE OH MY FUCKIN JESUS 

(no we’re not going to compare them but just to put things into perspective, yes it was just like 80-90s Sebastian Bach)

Erik was also just aggressively head banging at every given opportunity  my neck hurt just watching him but you could tell the man was just having the time of his life up there

he is also just sO. FUCKING. CHARMING

YOU CANT NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH THAT MAN I JUST- UUUGHHH

It was also in this first song where the initial realisation sunk in that this is THE Skid Row

as in this is the same Scotti, Snake and Rachel that I watch in all those live performances and interviews and just random videos from the 80s and 90s, and who are probably besties with some of my other favourite musicians and-

Rachel also had a sparkly bass which was so beautiful I want 34 of my own

also no-one told he that Scotti Hill was slightly unhinged djkjfkgh

he would just sTARE at you with The Eyes™ while playing and it was very intimidating so I just stared back when he would do it to me

I guess not many people can say they've had a staring contest with Scotti Hill but here we are😪

They played In A Darkened Room and Psychotherapy which I did NOT expect but I very much appreciate as they are two of my faves

also during IADR Erik Took someones phone and recorded the crowd and the band, I wonder how it feels to have a video as iconic as that one on your phone?

The stage was also small af too so Erik would just stand right at the edge (towering tf over me I might add skskjhkfg) and would knock off all the wires there LMAO

the security had to keep picking them up idk I just thought that that was so funny

another cool thing about Erik that Rachel mentioned is that before Covid happened, Erik was a support act for Skid Row while they were touring, and now hE’S THE LEAD SINGER OF THE BAND HE WAS SUPPORTING THREE YEARS AGO???? AWWWW??? 

honestly the rest of the night was kind of a blur (in a good way!)

that was until they played I Remember You

it was all going fine and dandy when I randomly decided to reach out my hand

and the beautiful bastard that is Erik Grönwall

REACHED OUT AND HELD MY MF HAND WHILE SINGING RIGHT AT ME

our fingers were interlinked for only a few seconds (I actually dont remember how long it was my brain was freaking out) but within those few seconds I officially sold my soul to Erik

my main character moment 

a true core memory for sure

I did see a video someone took of the whole song but you couldn't see me and Erik h*lding h*nds in it lkdgfkldgh😭

he also took someones phone again and recorded everyone which was cool bc everyone had their phones lit up🥰

They closed with Youth Gone Wild which was just perfect because me and my sister were, for this entire concert, the mf youth gone wild🥰

earlier Rachel even said that x song was “from our first album, which was released before some of you guys were even born by the looks of things” and stared straight at me with That Smile Of His 

Scotti and Snake were also just jamming together and living their best lives while playing Youth Gone Wild it was beautiful🥰

also when Erik sang “a boss screaming in my ear...” he gestured at Rachel LMAOO

while they were playing the outro I got to high-five Erik once again and I also got to fist bump Rachel, Scotti and Rob 

and that was that!

I got a poster and also got to meet Chip there too! he was so cool!

just as we were leaving we also met Snake outside skjhgfsghjkf

he was honestly sO SWEET OH MY GOD

I was very very VERY awkward as i’ve never met anyone famous before and was definitely nOT expecting to meet him and I was also in a rush

we talked for a little bit and took a photo together

I got to hug him twice and that was honestly the cherry on top of a perfect night 

i’m having withdrawals already I miss them all sm😭

Seeing Def Leppard in concert for the first time

This was at Hersheypark Stadium, July 12th 2022 :D

Normally I post these "concert diaries" on my main blog but we're gonna fire bulletpoints at you for this on this blog bc DUH it belongs on here, and I'm gonna talk about the ENTIRE show, not just Leppard. It was very not perfect which is what made it perfect

I got a VIP lanyard, a HUGE tote bag, and a poster with my VIP package

behind the VIP check in tent was the Leppard museum tent (but only VIP people were allowed in there)

despite this I did see the flaps from the tent blow back a lil and was able to see inside. I saw the framed pic of Joe with the guitar and his bear feet slippers, along with one of his jackets from the Hysteria/Adrenalize tour

while waiting in line for VIP check in, I SWEAR I saw Viv walk by behind the fence (meet and greet was in the tent, so it seemed to track) my heart stopped bc WAS THAT HIM?? I'm like 75% sure it was him

I FINALLY TRIED THE DEF LEPPARD BEER!!!!!! They had it at the venue and it was DISGUSTING :D It tasted like ASS I'm not a beer person to begin with so idk what I expected but it was VILE and I dumped half of it just to keep the can that I paid $16 for like seriously guys my body was shuddering bc it rejected the taste so hard

I was catty cornered from the left corner of the catwalk

before the show(s) started, at one point to the left of the stage there was a VERY loud engine noise that deadass sounded like an airplane or helicopter was about to take off right next to it, and then suddenly a LOT of smoke just started spewing out from that area, like I couldn't see 20 feet in front of me as this sound got louder and we STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS BUT IT SCARED THE SHIT OUTTA ME

Classless Act (opening act) played maybe 2-3 songs and were only on for ten (10) minutes MAXIMUM bc it started pOURING :DD I feel so bad for them bc they got did dirty by mother nature but I was jumping and screaming for them and I have a pic of the singer pointing right at my camera

me and Rachel got absolutely fucking soaked to the bone it was hysterical (pun not intended)

the venue made EVERYONE shelter under the stands for like 20 minutes while it briefly thunderstormed

it was HELL trying to get back onto the field and not even half of everyone was out yet and they made Joan Jett go on

I didn't know it was possible to shred on harmonica until I saw Bret Michaels

Bret is from the area so it was a homecoming show for him and most of Poison

Bret called the show "one of the best nights of his life" ;O;

the energy in the crowd fucking PLUMMETED when Crue came on LMAO like Poison HAD us and we were just :| when Crue came on

they were SO extra. Like CRINGE extra. As in before they came on they had a "national alert system" type intro video warning them that they were coming and red smoke literally filled the whole stadium and everyone halfway down the field couldn't see anything lol

Nikki was literally spitting on the crowd and I wished he would spit on me

he was also throwing open water bottles into the crowd

unrelated but Nikki's wife took their 3 year old daughter to Chocolate World and she's just had a blast it was precious

Rachel caught a pick from Nikki!!!

Vince was... yeah. He was mumbling half the time and you couldn't hear him half the time and he was out of time with the music a LOT it was uh... :/ I'll let you decide

they basically had strippers as backup singers and dancers plus the giant inflatable women... the objectification of women was extremely prominent, even in the poster for the venue

they also had a ton of sharp metal structures everywhere and for some reason Nikki and Mick's mic stands were... upside down and handing from the ceiling of the stage? at one point Nikki's was swinging back and forth SO BAD I thought he was gonna get bonked

Tommy called the crowd "Hershey squirts" and said he was upset that he hadn't seen one pair of tits yet, then proceeded to get flashed by a woman in the crowd, so he told the camera guy to put the camera on her, and this woman's tits were on the jumbotrons :| yeah. can't make this shit up. the misogyny was real.

anyway that's all I'm gonna say about Crue THANK GOD THAT'S OVER

the sunset was SO pretty before Leppard came out I hope it makes it into the Slog for this show (WHICH I CANNOT WAIT FOR BTW I'M GONNA STUDY THAT SHIT BC I WAS A PART OF THEIR LIVES LAST NIGHT)

the countdown before Leppard came on made everything finally feel real

the last song that played over the speakers before they came on was Joe's cover of Heroes ;-;

before the countdown ended I spotted Sav offstage :D

before the screen lifted I spotted Joe behind them and I frantically slapped Rachel and went "tHERE HE IS"

guys. guys. I could go on for ages about how absolutely ethereal it is to see them in person. I could. I should.

Joseph. Joseph. Holy s h i t is he the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Seeing his hair blowing back and his dimple and ugh. I was mesmerized by him the entire time I had to remember to look at the others

Sav's hair was on fleek obvi and his face is just absolutely SO pretty you guys uwu it's one of the 7 wonders of the world

Viv is precious as hell at one point he was "arguing" with this guy in crowd about giving him a pick and like crossed his arms and shit bein' sassy

I couldn't see Phil or Rick very well bc Phil was always on the opposite side of the stage so I could only see him when he was on the catwalk, and Rick was swallowed by his drum kit LOL

They opened with Take What You Want it was INCREDIBLE

VIV WAVED AT ME :DD I forget what song it was but he was on my side of the catwalk and there was a little opening between the people so I leaned forward and frantically just *flutters hand up and down* and he smiled right at me and waved back with a nod I'm on life support as we speak

I THINK Sav looked at me, we made eye contact for a split second and he just kinda gave me the eyes ya know 👁👄👁 he just kinda made his eyebrows go up and gave me crazy eyes for a split second

if you watch videos of the acoustic set and you hear someone yell JOOOOOE when Joe first comes out, prob was me

Their set was cut kinda short I'm assuming bc of the rain delay earlier so they only played 2 songs in the acoustic set (This Guitar and Two Steps Behind)

Joe playing the end of Two Steps Behind by himself was absolutely an ethereal experience and I had THE perfect shot I could've taken but I was just so mesmerized by the view and the experience I just couldn't bear to look away for even a second. I might try and draw this view eventually.

This Guitar was SO GOOD LIVE I'M SO OVER THE MOON THAT THEY DECIDED TO PLAY IT

Rocket was honestly one of the best parts of the show

BOTHB/Switch 625 was a religious experience

Joe still does the stupid lil dramatic walk to the microphone like he did the music video for BOTHB what a dork uwu

by the way I know we all refer to Joe as "all legs" on here but oh my god. Guys. I can't stress enough how BEYOND true that statement is irl. Words can't describe how all legs this man truly is. I kept staring bc I was just like holy SHIT??? Like gODDAMN his legs are the only feature of his that HAS NOT CHANGED IN 45 YEARS

I wasn't expecting them to roll into Hysteria after Switch and then they suddenly did and I was blown away

Joe came out in a different jacket for Hysteria and it was kinda glittery

I almost burst into tears multiple times bc Joe is that beautiful and everything was that beautiful don't @ me

Also Joe's booty DO BE POPPIN THO you gotta believe me when I say I wasn't TRYING to look but it caught my eyes bc 👌 boi

Joe did this new ending to Hysteria that I can't really describe you'd just have to watch it yourself (this isn't from my show bc no one uploaded it yet, start watching at like 1:30 it's even more beautiful than the Heroes ending)

they didn't have an "encore" so to say bc they just went right into Rock of Ages and Photograph without pretending to leave the stage (the venue has a sound curfew we think so they had to finish up, especially with the rain delay from hours before)
