im sorry people got weird dhdjdj not to be rude but some people see anon and forget all housetraining. Drifa is a wonderful character and I love her. I was wondering, because she’s so pragmatic, do you think romance is kind of lost on her? are there any orcish courting traditions and if so, how would she react when the companions put in the effort to court her the orc way?

Haha it’s ok, I should have anticipated it but it is what it is. I’m ok with horny, just that was wild…

Romance would be lost on her, she has been surviving alone for years now, and her basis for interactions/education would be from long ago when others lived at the temple with her, what she’s read in any texts in the temple, or what she’s observed with animals like bird courtship etc. It’s not something she would consider/think of, and her experience with intimacy would have been ‘efficient’ and did the job, not romantic in the least.

I think she would ‘be aware’ of some traditional orcish courtship techniques or at least ones specialized to her temple/area, but I don’t think it’s something she’s thought about in a long time or something she would ever consider for herself. I think the first time she realized she could live with someone or love someone is when she had her son. Obviously familial love, but it would be the first time she’d think she isn’t ‘meant to be alone’. To her she is meant to be alone and is ok with it, then suddenly she has someone she needs to care for, and teach, and talk to, and she enjoys it immensely.

If someone were to put effort into it, or even speak orcish to her, she would probably be completely shocked, not exactly sure what to do, and you’d find out she is actually well spoken, thoughtful, and intelligent if she got to speak in her first language. I think a companion would really have to pursue her and make it VERY clear they are interested, and even then I think she’d be like ‘haha you don’t want me, you maybe want to fuck me, but there are people better for you-‘ in more of a gruff way. If they pursued her, and learned some techniques a la showing interest by providing a nice meal, she enjoys being read to, music, song, and was very up front VERY UPFRONT, and even challenged her, standing up to her, stand firm in their decision, she would probably admit she doesn’t really know how to do anything romantic/makes her feel vulnerable. Itd be kind of difficult for her to accept that she doesn’t need to be alone

I think she would be unaware that her actions are romantic, like she’d give the best food, do things without being asked to, compliment very bluntly and with little shyness. Like she’s the type where you’d say ‘it’d be kinda nice if we had a garden’ and then next day there would be one because ‘you wanted that’. She likes taking care of people, I don’t think she’d be romantic in big gestures or wax poetic, but would show it in her own way, quiet warm love that doesn’t need to be announced/made a big deal out of
