hello!! hope you're doing well :3 I wanted to ask if you could give me a tip on where to find certain character pixels / pixel gifs / pixel sprites? <3

ah,,, for a collector such as myself, my knowledge may very much be a bit limited,,, but i hope what i have to helps nonetheless ^_^; ! also i am doing quite well,, hope you are also doing fine ! <3

i tend to go for pixels surrounding a characters aesthetic more then actual pixels of a character,,, but i hope these are able to help you in your search !

teensy warning this is a bit long,,

my usual / first option is tumblr ! typically when looking for specific aesthetics though~ as you prolly know (if not then!!! dw i got u) there are many popular pixel collectors/posters, such as i! (though i reccomend melonet, digitalita, sweetparty, kuurousa, honeypuppixels !!! i personally see them lots,, :3c )

a 2nd option is discord servers,, there are a decent amount of discords dedicated to text decor who also have pixel and favicon channels !! my personal favorites being honeystextdecor && sweetfruits !!! just use the search bar and put in the character or medias name along with the favicon channel !

3rd option is browsing through resource rentrys, neocities and carrds ! they have sites for pixels everywhere, and rentrys with masterlists of sites that can be of use. some such as;

.co/roses-resources is SUPER reccomended if you need a bunch of sites n etc etc,,, its pretty long but provides alot of places to find pixels and whatnot ~! also reccomend guobeng !

lastly, 4th of all, dont be afraid to ask pixel posters on here (or in discord servers if you can) if they have any !! while my requests for pixels are closed, there are definitely people out there who dont mind them,,,

these r kinda general tips for finding pixels,,, but i do hope they help !!! sometimes you may be able to find specific kinds of pixels in a rentry or carrd !! (i most commonly see sanrio or vocaloid though ^_^)

mcd zanvis is such an interesting idea to me bc theyre lives are both so affected by their fathers

like, you have travis, through all his want to be good and do good is still seen as a monster by those he protects because of his father being the demon warlock — even though he has never Once been like his father or Wanted to be like his father

and then in contrast you have zane, whos dad wasnt a demon warlock but was certainly a Piece Of Shit and zane followed suit — he took up his fathers mantle (though i feel like theres some degree of manipulation in there somewhere bc. cmon now) and did heinous things without mercy

they both have dads that affected their lives to such a massive degree — and they both took very different paths, one of good, and one of evil. yin and yang

and idk i feel like that would be an interesting dynamic to explore. also i just like zanvis

Rise Ramblings #234

While watching “The Clothes Don’t Make The Turtle,” I noticed something.

I found it interesting that Raph, Mikey, and Leo were content with Raph’s outfit choice until Donnie stated that he wasn’t “in love with it, ya’ know.”

Suddenly, Raph declares “I’m a disaster!” Albeit ridiculously endearing, it was a little strange to see his sudden shift from moderately content to absolute dissatisfaction. Huh…

Then, the disaster twins decide to help him out.

Take a note of their outfit choices.

Raph tries on all of these fits and more.

Donnie’s first choice is a mild “no.” Leo’s choice is a hard “NO.” (Not surprising, lol.) But then, the overwhelming consensus lands on Raph’s fourth outfit, which ended up being Donatello’s other pick for his brother.

So, in summary, Raph tried on his personal choice for an outfit, of which they rejected. Then, ultimately, Donatello picked out an outfit for his brother, and that pick ended up being perfect. Hmm…

Then I noticed something else. In this episode, we never get a Donnie “curtain reveal” moment, to our disdain. I mean, Raph, Leo, and Mikey got to try on several different outfits in order to get their brothers' opinions before landing on that “perfect outfit, you know the one.” All of his brothers got to shine. Why not DonTron?

Then it hit me.

The try-ons were to get their brothers' opinions and approval. And, for his brothers' choices, he was a major contributor in assisting them in pulling their looks together.

What if, bear with me, Donnie didn’t need the "curtain scene" because he was so confident in his fashion sense that he didn’t need to ask his brothers for help to pick out a great look.

…or they figured out how to break Hypno’s spell before he could get a “curtain reveal.” BUT STILL-

Look at his outfit choices in this episode. Some of his wardrobe changes were off-screen, but all of them were fire.

(I added the baseball cap pic because it makes me happy. I wish we'd seen more of that fit.)

To me, he makes some really smart choices for himself, pushing the envelope of what is expected and taking chances: an open collar with no tie for a “black tie” event, a beanie and spiked wristbands for their “gansta look,” no socks with loafers (a viral fashion trend that actually began in Africa) with old man slacks in his reclined pose. *muah* Chef’s kiss!

But Don’s fashion sense doesn’t just shine in this episode.

In “Reparin’ the Baron” the boys go to Draxum’s apartment. Leo and Donnie show up in some extra nice “Sunday Dinner” twin drip.

The gold is in the details. Everything Leo is wearing, Donnie rocks its compliment: for Leo’s round collar, Donnie’s is angled, for Leo’s blue shirt, Donnie’s is white, For Leo’s light slacks, Donnie’s are dark. Blah blah blah. It’s so good!

Look at the winter fit in Snow Day.

Again, Donnie is Leo’s perfect compliment. As a pair? Fire.

Donnie has “the eye.” I can go on and on with examples, but I’ve said all of that to say this…

In the future, we see that Donatello’s technology had major pull in the resistance. He had drone ships patrolling the skies. He built and designed Leo’s arm, Casey’s chainsaw-hockey stick, and Casey's mask. The list goes on…

But, when Donatello from the past see’s Casey’s clothing from the future, he says this:

We know about the “Genius Built” brand. We’ve seen that logo on all of his tech up to this point. But, here he didn’t just say “Genius Built.” He said, “Genius Built Apparel.”

“Apparel” is not a tech brand. “Apparel” is a fashion brand. Of course, tech is incorporated into the clothing, but still.

This means that past Donatello secured this trademark with plans of creating a fashion brand, comparable to the likes of Gucci, Ralph Lauren, or any other modern clothing brand, as a subsidiary of “Genius Built,” the tech company.

And why not? The evidence has been in front of us this entire time. He has a sharp eye for style, fashion, and trends. It is easily canon that he can sew. Splinter sewed their ninja garbs in “Insane in the Mama Train,” and there is a sewing machine in the house.

They already learned Ninjutsu through basically osmosis, so learning to sew is not too far-fetched.

And here it is, right in front of us, Casey’s entire ensemble, from mask, to weapons, to clothing, was made by Donatello in the middle of the apocalypse under the brand name “Genius Built Apparel.”

And that was just in the bad future. Resources were limited, they didn’t have access to much of anything in that broken world as they were survivors of a devastating Krang invasion. Yet, he created all of this.

However, now that they’ve changed the future, his future as a fashion designer is limitless. Think of what Donatello could produce with unlimited resources, unlimited technology, and unlimited creative freedom.

Tech genius. Clothing designer. Fashionista. Future Genius Built Apparel Owner and CEO. I’m sorry, but I have to call it...

Donatello Hamato of the present, of the bad future, and of the good future is a fashion icon, the likes of which the world has never seen. ○○○○

Update: I've decided to make this concept into a mini-comic series!

AU where Leo is trapped in the Prison Dimension for months instead of minutes and the only way he gets by with his sanity intact is through recording himself talking to his wrist comm.

When they finally manage to get Leo back and make him rest up to heal, Donnie can’t help but listen to the recordings left behind.

He’s not sure what exactly he’s expecting, only that his subconscious is screaming at him that it has to be heartbreaking, that it has to be torturous.

Instead, what Donnie is subject to is a full thousand hours’ worth of Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu crossover fanfiction. More than one part in the series. Spanning well over a million words.

(The worst part is that it’s actually good.)

I’ve finished watching almost all of ROTTMNT S1 with my friends and Man. Jesus Christ.

The episode turtle-dega nights made me really emotional. Tbf any episodes where dads are a main focus in a show make me emotional. Especially if a main character has a strained/complicated relationship with said dad, but I can’t say i ever expected Rise to make me cry.

I cant fully explain how I feel, other than Donnie and Mikeys writing in the episode is effectively my two brain cells when it comes to my own dad whom I’ve cut contact with. Idk maybe the episode is different for other people, but it’s actually my favorite in se1 so far and genuinely touching.

I really REALLY related to Donnie in this episode, I mean I relate to him a lot but this hit different. The way Donnie and Mikey both react to Splinter wanting to spend time with them is something I’ve experienced myself, and I’ve been both Donnie being desperate for father-son time, and Mikey being (rightfully) suspicious of why my dad whose never around suddenly wants to hang out.

I also enjoy Splinters writing, I think he’s an interesting take on a father figure character. He obviously loves his kids, but his trauma and emotional distance makes it hard on him. He’s clearly a guy who struggles to cope with things. I also like that like?? While yes Splinter was wrong for using Donnie to get the tank, he isn’t vilified for wanting to feel like a person again and not some nasty mutated rat.

More importantly though I like they let Donnie call Splinter out, it’s obvious all the boys crave paternal affection but there’s been several moments showing how badly it effects Donnie. And to me the fact this is the first episode we hear Splinter call his kid by his ACTUAL NAME instead of color really to me cements how Splinter realized just how badly he fucked up in this situation. I just enjoy the resolution, I enjoy Splinter telling his boys hes proud, I enjoy seeing Splinter realize his effect on his kids.

Idk maybe other people don’t think Splinter deserved forgiveness maybe they do. This entire episode was extremely cathartic for me personally because it’s something I wish I could do with my own dad.

Small edit: im so proud of my skrunkly rat dad for improving so much since this episode augh. We’re in s2 now and hes so great
