<<DA2 Spoilers>>

Been rewatching Thomas and Richard's scenes from DA1, and a bit of dialogue stuck out to me. Then it all clicked.

After the police station rescue, Thomas says, "I'm not sure I've shown enough gratitude for what you did," and it hit me like a bus. He was expecting Richard to now hold this rescue over him as a way to control him or get favors. He was waiting for Richard to claim this "gratitude." Looking back over the show, whenever Thomas was close to someone, it was always because that person was using him in some way: the Duke, especially O'Brian—I'm blanking on the others—But whenever anyone did something nice for him, he always thought that kindness was done for the sole purpose of building his debt to that person.

All through his scenes with O'Brian, it was always a, "do this thing for me, and I'll help you out here, so you can later help me out there." There was always a tally of who's done what for who. They would help each other out but only so they could hold that favor over the other's head. It was a toxic relationship that Thomas always seemed to get the wrong end of. Then into season three with Jimmy, Thomas didn't even dare ask for Jimmy's friendship until he had gotten himself beat up for the kid. He was physically beaten for Jimmy and only then did he feel comfortable reaching out for that friendship.

When Thomas met Andy, he kept trying to do favors for him in hopes that he'd get his friendship too. But it was always because Thomas was doing something for Andy. This is literally the only way the poor man knows how to make friends!!  Later with Baxter, he couldn't understand why she was helping him after he had been so mean to her. It just didn't register in his little traumatized brain. He pushed her away until he finally had to accept that she was genuinely being kind to him, and that was a behavior people could have towards him.

Jumping back to DA1, Thomas meets this really nice fellow who's fun to hang out with then bam! now Thomas is in his debt because of the police station thing. The pattern is already laid out in Thomas's mind: this man only did this so he can get something from Thomas in the future or use him. Thomas is uneasy, knowing Richard is going to hold it over him now, but then he just doesn't. Thomas is waiting for the, "oh yes, actually I'll be expecting favors from you in the future, because you are in my debt. I OWN you because I helped you." But instead, Richard just dismisses the whole thing with his, "we have to stick together, men like us." It's so cute seeing Thomas's mindset go from, "oh no, what do I have to do to be even with him again," to, "oh, oh wait, he doesn't want anything in return??? We're really just two blokes having a conversation??? Have I just made a FRIEND?!" And he needs that. so much.

...

Then I got hit over the head with Thomas's plot in DA2. Thomas gets whisked off to Hollywood so he can live a free and glamorous life. Sounds great on paper, but looking at the deal he was given, it was just that: a deal... His whole life was filled with relationships built on propositions. Relationships based on,"here, do all this for me then we'll see about what I can do for you." It makes me sick. Thomas is right back to where he was before. And he walks right into it, because that's what he's been conditioned to expect from friendly people. They always want something from him and every nice little thing they do comes with a price. He's so used to it, that it doesn't even stand out to him anymore. This is the environment he knows. Of course he runs right back into it as soon as his heart is broken. Why should he believe in people anymore, or unconditional love?

I don't know if you are a fan of Downton Abby, but you should be. Even thought this show is set in post world war 2 era, they humor that is sprinkled throughout the stories is the best. Its sass to the extrema.

My husband went with my mom, dad, sister and I to the theater opening weekend and he couldn't stop laughing. Along with the humor aspect, there was also mystery and some heart breaking moments that really brought emotional depth into the mix. 

This was a whole movie that made me love this cast even more. Can't wait for this movie to come out in streaming so I can watch it again.

She didn’t mind you getting loud but she wasn’t trying to wake up the neighbors at 12:53PM because she couldn’t keep it in her pants, so she began kissing you again, and again, and again, feeling impossibly closer to you. Your breath became somewhat feverish as she lets your ride out your high before moving her clothed cunt away from yours. She saw a wet patch through your pants and let out a chuckle.

Thomas Barrow x sister!reader - the game plan

I was thinking it would involve a teen reader who works at Downton as a house maid (maybe also Thomas’s younger sister) and is very close with the majority of the staff. I thought it would be funny if teen reader discovers a litter of kittens (or just the one) and snuck them into her room. She had been looking after them and one days returns to her room to discover that they have escaped from the little house she had fashioned from old boxes and cloth, and had climbed the curtains, others where hanging off of the duvet and perhaps another worked its way into a draw or on top of the wardrobe. I thought it would be funny if teen reader enlists the help of Thomas and maybe Anna to restore her room to its proper state before mrs Hughes notices. Maybe they get caught and Thomas, Anna and reader try to act as if nothing was happening though had the kittens hiding behind their backs. It end with them wondering what they are going to do to with them but reader doesn’t want to just let them go, however knows that Mr Carson certainly won’t let reader keep the Kittens - Anon💜

You could bare to seen any living creature in pain, wherever there is help to be needed that’s where you were.

You were incredibly smart and knew all there was to know about medicine and helping people get better, it’s why for the servants you were the go too person before a doctor.

But this need to help everything went beyond people.

You couldn’t stand the thought of animals being in pain either, or plants dying which was why you had flowers hidden around the house, and why there was four kittens hidden in your room.

Every evening you rushed back to your room to make sure they were okay, and you did the same thing this evening.

Except instead of being asleep in their little box, they decided to rifle around and explore, and the room was a mess.

“Oh no darlings!” You whisper yelled.

Rushing in, you began rounding them up, putting them into the basket instead so they couldn’t break free.

But your room was trashed and there was no way you could clean it on your own.

Making sure the kittens were safely hidden, you rushed out of your room and across the hall, knocking on the door a few times.

“Anna!” You whispered.

When there was no response you rushed as fast as you could down the stairs into the servants hall.

“Thomas can you come to my room?”

“What for?”

“Please?”

Thomas looked up from his paper but sighed, setting it down and standing up, gesturing for you to lead the way.

You all but ran into Anna as you did.

“Perfect! Come to my room!”

You took her hand and rushed uk the stairs into your room, ushering them both inside before closing the door.

“Why do you need me if you have her?” Thomas grumbled.

“Because you’re my brother and you’re supposed to help me.”

“Help you with what exactly?” Anna asked.

You gestured to the state of your room.

“It looks like a bull ran through, what on Earth happened?” Anna asked.

“(Y/N) never was the cleanest of people.” Thomas mused.

You glared at him, and gestured to the basket.

“They did it.”

Both Anna and Thomas shared a look before slowly walking closer. Staring into the basket where the small kittens had fallen asleep after their adventure.

“How did you get them in here? Where did you get them?” Thomas hissed.

“I found them outside I was not going to leave them to there Thomas! Just help me!” You hissed back.

You heard knocking on a door down the hall and shot the two a panicked look.

“Quickly now!” Anna rushed.

The three of you worked quickly to get the room back to the tidy state it was before, making sure everything was back into its place.

You covered the basked with a blanket and grabbed Thomas’ hand, moving him in front of it as a knock resounded on your door.

“Come in!” You called.

The door was opened, and Mrs Hughes stood there looking between the three of you.

“Mr Barrow you know you shouldn’t be in this hallway.”

“I am aware Mrs Hughes, however my sister asked for my assistance.”

“And Anna?”

“I heard (Y/N) talking, I was wondering whom she may have been talking with.”

Mrs Hughes hummed, nodding her head as she looked around the room.

“You wouldn’t happen to have a spare change of clothes for Daisy would you? She has ruined her current ones, and her spares are in the wash.”

“Perhaps she shouldn’t be so clumsy then.” Thomas said.

“Thomas!” You snapped.

Walking to your wardrobe you opened it, pulling out some fresh clothes and handed them to Mrs Hughes.

“I do, she can keep this I have no need for them.”

“You are dear, thank you so much.”

You beamed and waited for her to leave before letting out a deep sigh.

“So, what will you do with the kittens?” Anna asked you.

Walking over, you removed the blankets and the three of you stared at them.

“Well, keep them for now, I don’t really know what else to do with them.”

“You know Mrs Hughes and Mr Carson will never approve of that (Y/N), you must let them go now.” Thomas said.

“No, I can keep them for a short while.”

“They are going to get more adventurous, Mr Barrow is right, you must rehome them.”

“Please help me look after them.”

You turned to look at them both.

“We are busy enough.” Thomas said.

You turned to Anna who sighed a little.

“I will admit they are rather adorable, maybe we can keep them for a little while, I’m sure Mr Bates will agree.”

You beamed at her.

“Thomas?”

“No.”

You turned to him, giving him a grin.

“Please.”

“No.”

“Thomas please!”

Anna stood next to you smiling at him.

“Come now Mr Barrow, do you really want to upset your sister?”

“If it means I don’t need to take in my work than necessary than yes.”

“Thomas!” You whined.

He crossed his arms as he looked at you.

You gave him a pleasing look, and finally he sighed.

“Fine.” He snapped.

“Thank you!”

Hugging him, you all quickly jumped into creating a game plan to trying to get away with keeping kittens hidden away from everybody

the downton abby soundtrack just came on the radio. and i just thought of a hilarious crossover idea.

downton abby except it takes place in 1900. and instead of the manor in the show it takes place in the van zieks manor. like how hilarious would that be. can you imagine what the servants go through. "oh lord van zieks came home soaked in wine again" "that's the 46th wine stain this month" "the apprentice is practicing sword fighting in the library again" etc etc. it would be hilarious and extremely entertaining

A thing about me is that I love period pieces in most genres. I love Downton Abbey and Black Butler even tho they both get very bad as they go on. I have no idea why but it's definitely a special interest of mine that I love frolicking with despite how all my favorite period pieces come with warnings when I recommend them bc it would be unfair to tell someone to watch Black Butler without telling them it's def someone's shota fetish and they play into it pretty hard at times. Also Grell is hit or miss with people and for me, he's a miss. Good design just WAY too horny. The ep where he's revealed might be a fave but I hate him.

Also Downton Abby's biggest downfall is that they kept going despite multiple actors wanting to leave and their resulting deaths ruins the show lol and I'm not just talking about Dan Stevens, the most infamous death of all

Saw Saltburn and it was amazing, everyone should go see it

-- MVP was definitely Archie, I absolutely loved Farleigh (and he sings!!) as both a haughty bitch, a pigtail pulling bitch, and a very sad bitch

-- all of Farleigh's clothes were amazing. he was the most stylish guy in 2006. most of Felix's clothes were tragic. he was the most accurate guy from 2006 xD

-- can anyone get their hookup on in this movie without a third party peering through a window? very Downton Abby of them. well, except for that one "hookup" where someone interrupting would have been good

-- Oliver gets mad props for never being able to handle any level of conflict at a party cause his sense of retribution was off the charts

I would love to just vomit spoilers everywhere but I'm trying to be good xD
