dust! reason why he doesn't have any expo is that, well... i don't think he's much of a talker ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so it didn't make sense to me to info dump at all, besides the scar, which is smth his teammates know about
the anatomical discrepancies of dust's face are intentional, i feel like it's creepier if the face shape and eyes don't align
3 down, 4 more to go TT^TT

On the string propaganda
Heeellll yeah
Bestie is an entire PLACE
I look at those guys and let me tell you the soul of that thing ain't just in the puppet, it's in all the neurons carrying the thoughts and emotions, it's in the power rails that serve as the heart. All the memories in the memory conflux and all the numbers we see flicker across displays, the flux condensers, the puppet; a little avatar.
No way these massive machines see life the same way we do. They have their own experiences and senses and things they hold dear. A world we can't imagine, a way of living we couldn't even comprehend.
I could never tear an iterator apart to be just a puppet. Who am I to decide how's life supposed to be enjoyed or perceived?
You treat your creechurs however you want- I ain't gonna dictate that. But damn, hearing the thrums and buzzes of the linear systems rail? They are alive with so much power, these mechanical beasts are exactly what they should be.

Founders: Moorlands
(Original title of WindClan)
GRAY WING
“When the holly leaf is eaten by deer, the round leaves grow back bristling. Likewise should the wise leader’s losses grow into strength. The fool leader laments the damaged Clan and never rebuilds.” —Clan Upkeep in Proverbs for a Leader, accredited to Gray Wing
Sometimes considered the Crone’s fifth disciple and the true first leader of WindClan, Gray Wing was considered by many an excellent choice for the Crone’s successor to the Moorland. The epics say he was Clear Sky’s brother, and while he was far less outwardly cruel than him, he still had his fair share of controversies to dispute past his death. For one, his relationships with kittypets were usually rocky, even so far as to suggest an abused kittypet return to her humans and unsavory living conditions. His relationships with Dewdrop and River Ripple were noted to be rather terse.
Despite his opinions on kittypets, he was an affectionate mate and caring father. Unfortunately most of the segments on Gray Wing’s family life are forgotten by the Clans, but snippets of them appear in the standard recitals of the Epic of the Crone's Lands. He had at least one litter he sired himself, but he was also known to be a father figure to multiple other litters.
As for his leadership position, Gray Wing was remembered as a cunning tactician, utilizing his cats’ skills, pelt colors, the weather, and the terrain in his strategies. Most of the wisdoms about battle tactics in Proverbs for a Leader are accredited to him, much to the embarrassment of ThunderClan. Some cats say that when a cat is named -wing, it’s in reference to Gray Wing, but this is not the case.

DUSTY
“The fox and badger should bother you no longer, dear old friend. The Untamed One sends her regards, but it is clear that an Untamed like her and we snow-stained cannot get along. Perhaps one day when our Grandmother has swallowed our bones, our kittens' kittens and her kittens' kittens shall frolick under the Eyes of the Crows. Oh how I wish to see that day for myself.” —Dusty, from the Dawn section of the Epic of the Crone’s Lands
Before the Crone’s arrival, cats were divided into two categories: rogues like Brawn and Slash who used their superior strength to enforce their fickle will onto their fellow cats, and the cats they pushed around. However, most scholars propose there was a third category: cats who used their cunning to evade the rogues’ efforts to subdue them. Dusty was one of these in the proposed third category, as few rogues would dare cross a cat who can call on other beasts to defend them.
This cat never featured in the Epic of the First Clan, but the Crone often made passing remarks of asking “the polyglot barn cat” to ask a trespassing badger or fox to leave. The jack's proper arrival to the Clans came after the Crone’s death, whereupon Dusty joined WindClan and eventually became respected enough for Gray Wing to offer deputyship. Back then, every Clan encouraged learning to speak Fang, but as time wore on, only the Moorlanders’ descendants still actively teach it, all thanks to a polyglot jack.

MOTH FLIGHT
There were many wonders and horrors she saw. A rabbit of starlight and his shadow in the moon. A lamb and a wolf that were neither lamb nor wolf. A bog in the lands where the sun sleeps. The dark. The long dark. The first spark of fire and the last breath of wind. The embrace of our Grandmother. —From the Nightfall section of the Epic of the Crone’s Lands
Considering their history, no one would have anticipated the ancestor of WindClan to produce the cat to discover the Mother. It is uncertain if she was born to the Pilgrims or to a local queen and took on a Pilgrim’s name later in life. What is certain is her strange behavior that led her to wander the moorlands like a stain of moonlight, foregoing hunting in favor of naming every bug that she came across.
Her story says that as a nameless kitten, she followed a strange moth with wings of different colors who whispered poems of the future. The moth protected her from the eyes of sparrowhawks and the noses of foxes, all the way to Highstones. Upon finding the Mother’s Maw, the moth perched on the kitten’s head, urging her to delve into the ancient secrets of the world. Led by her heart and guided by her whiskers, the kitten found the Moonstone, illuminated by the full moon. Exhausted from her journey, she slept there, dreaming of uncountable and indescribable things to the mind of any breathing being, even humans.
When she was found, she was bestowed the name Moth—or Moth Flight, depending on who you ask. Her story from there on out is hazy, though some sections say she and the high quean Daisy Bloom clashed in an issue regarding kittens, separate from the issue involving the creation of Clan Law.

Iterators are so interesting to me. I think about them a lot, as well as the Ancients.
I wonder what exactly goes through their structure, what they do. They're so alien to everything, and even trying to imagine what they can feel is so interesting to me.
They most likely could feel their ancients walking on top of their structure, and in their structure in some cases. Do they feel grossed out by it? Do they feel neutral since it's happened so many times? Do they not even notice it due to being used to it?
Ancients are also so weird to me as well. How much planning went into making living buildings? How did they feel when they got it to actually work? (No doubt it would take a few tries to get it right! It's a living building!) Just how smart were the Ancients?
I like to think Ancients had different cultures, and sometimes it would rub off on iterators.
I could ramble about iterators and ancients so much, but almost everything is a mystery about them. I'd love to know more about those alien fellas.

Ya know what, nope, that’s the AU’s name
The Chaos Au
Cuz every iterator and scug that is in my au acts like they are on crack and it just fits with how wacky it is. Of course it’ll get serious from time to time, but it shows more of the wacky said of the iterators and scug as they go from place to place. Like a real family trip where every sibling is trying to talk over one another XD
Unless any of you got some better ideas for this dumpster fire of an Au lol. Other then that ya.
Rain World: The Chaos Au XD (it might change but right now no)

I was cruising through Art Station for some location reference art from Scrooge: a Christmas Carol and found some excellent models/notes for Scrooge's office and home, including this:
How much do you wanna bet he got those flowers as a condolence bouquet when Marley died and they've been sitting there slowly decaying, like everything about the state of the house, for the seven years since.

FINALLY I HAVE ALL OF THESE CUNTS NAMED. i made a like 10 iterator local group [Echoing Strife] with dear mutual @arti-cat !!!!!!! its crazy !! most of them were born like yesteday so no designs but im gonna dump about them. the whole theme of their group is they're based on the echoes /their monolouges. also some ancients that are important [more info under cut]. rb and comment on my ramblings boy
Metropolis: Clawing at the 'Clouds' [senior] [he/him]
Sky Islands: A Second of 'Silence' [they/them]
Wall/Silent Construct: Relentless Earthly Cacophony ['Rec'] [any/all]
Chimney Canopy: Three Binding 'Feathers' [he/she/aer]
Shoreline: A Precipice of a 'Promise' [she/it]
Shaded Citadel: Seeing Past 'Ichor' [he/him]
Subterranean: Solitude of Uncovered 'Omens' [they/it]
Undergrowth: [Undisclosed] 'Vex'ing Desires [he/ve]
Farm Arrays: Joyful Envision of Tranquility ['Jet'] [he/him]
Bitter Aerie: From the 'Depths' to the Heavens [they/any]
+ Ancients:
A Thousand Flakes of 'Dust', One Resolute Cause [she/her]
Tangled 'Kestrel', Clawing Desperately [they/she]
Cacophony's Caw, 'Crows' Descend [he/him] [child]
'Cardinal' Descending from Afar [he/him] [child]
'Wrens' Hopping, Blissful Eve [she/her] [BABY]
clouds: no talk him he angy. once again one of my seniors sucks at their fucking job. theres a fire in his heart filled with cancers and poppy tarts /ref hes gonna fuck everything up as soon as shit goes wrong. he gets therapy from a cat though. go shitty lesbians go. sometimes reffered to as claw demeaningly
silence: Old Man /silly . they are the mediator and are very concerned with their younger iterators. ends up really fucking things up with the constant fighting between vex and omens [ill get to that] and vex maybe explodes them [silence has a very weak structure to begin with]. oh also silence can overhear echos. hehehehe
rec: haha dumb IDIOT gave himself the rot!!!! she kind of did it when she was young and dumb and has come to really regret it, but chooses to use the remaining time he has building a better life for the creatures around him rather than concern himself with his infection and past mistakes, much to the dismay of its fellow iterators
feathers: silly little guy!!! had a crush on one of aer techs [kestrel] and grew very close to them. maybe cried like a little bitch when she managed to sneak her kids [crow & cardinal [wren probably wasnt born yet]] down there when she couldnt find someone to babysit. imagine having an iterator be ur nini to help you with your homework . its really silly to me. Sure Hope Mass Ascension Doesn't Ruin Everything! [feathers bioengineers scugs like them to Cope. it does not help]
promise: just kind of bitter and angry. it did so much work for its city, gave up everything, all for nothing at all. just for her to be abandoned in the chase for ascension. accidentally pingpongs vex's beliefs REALLY TERRIBLY while shes just kind of awkward about it because she doesnt like omens on principle but doesnt side with vir either
ichor: funny little guy . loved by his citizens. Knew about the mass ascension before it happened but didnt tell anyone so everyone [especially feathers] is really really fucking pissed at him. oops king.
omens: def the most devoted to ascension and the problem, while also studying past civilizations and Grand Cycles. viewed mass ascension as a good thing and is happy their creators moved on. watches vex spiral in Real Time and is kind of freaked out. theyre somewhat conjoined [not as much as moon&pebbs but they share a lot of systems particularly their comms arrays] which led to lots of fighting between them Constantly only driving them deeper into hatred and resentment. theres only a certain point when omens actually becomes Scared of him, however....
vex: ohhh you mentally ill little boy. fairly normal until Dust [the leader of a very violent and large anti-ascension movement] corrupted him as his mentor. uh. ve likes to believe it was beneficial and 'enlightened' vir but really it just turned him into an angry person, especially when mass ascension happened and dust got ascended which only cemented his beliefs. fights a fuckton with omens and believes in the holiness of the cycle. very unbecoming of an iterator. sure hope he doesnt do anything terrible!
jet: built at sea, collapsed due to a great flood/tsunami before mass ascension. believed to be dead and very distant from the group, they were a source of a lot of drama. hes actually alive though! he was built with Some waterproof measures in mind so hes functioning to an extent down there. in yuri we trust [with depths]
depths: originally built as spectacle + as a lighthouse to work alongside jet, but jet collapsed before they were completeted. oops. feels very hollow and purposeless, until a messenger from the sea shows up with a pearl . otherwise depths is very distant from the group [mainly distance and poor comms] and also when trying to learn about jets clouds found it insensitive with the wound being 'too fresh' and kind of exploded on them. woops.

/takes a little breath amidst a quiet dash. Starter call!
Though I have threads/asks to get to, I'm curious if one of these would catch anyone's attention. I know sending in sentence starters isn't always up everyone's alley and it's a little harder when it comes to interacting with a character who's canonically dead in present day, like mine. Although (I need to write up the details for the first iteration of it) I do have her resurrected in a present timeline (see tags). If you're interested in me either coming to you, or fishing up something with a bit of a red line, give this a like and I'll see what I can do! Trust me when I say, if we're mutuals, I'm interested in writing with you. See this as a little cheat to grab my attention if you want it!

Okayyyyyyy
So as you all know, I've been making a small comic of my own interpretation of what went down between Sliver of Straw and Saint (If you didn't, well now you do). Theres the scene with the triple affirmative, and it's quite an important one at that.
So here's the thing. I need more iterators than just Moon's local group for the specific frame.
Can y'all send me your iterator ocs to add in as the reaction to the triple affirmative? (Please reblog this with your ocs! It makes it easier for me to keep track.)
