Today is March 28th, 2024.

It marks exactly one year since, on a whim, I joined a Discord call. I've referred to it as "Robocop Day" since discovering the date because I joined the call after watching Robocop for homework and decided "Fuck it, if they're still on call, why not join?"

Words cannot properly capture/express how that was one of the best decisions I could've made.

To sit and think about all the ways I have changed for the better in this year is absolutely insane sometimes. I was so nervous to join that night, I barely knew anyone in the Redacted fandom and had barely gotten to know anyone outside of Angie (shoutout to thefablefoxart, go check her out /gen). But in that moment, for whatever reason, my brain was like "Do it. Go join this call. At least give it a try." So I did— And promptly got roped into a multi-hour ramble about one of many Darlin OCs (/lh /pos).

This account would not be what it is without these people. Neither would my art, my writing, my channel, and more. There are so many ways I have grown and so many things I've been able to try in this year of knowing this group of people, and I cannot wait for all that's to come still. So, without further ado, I'm gonna put the people in this group chat on blast (lovingly /lh):

@latenightsleeper: Sleeper Beeper, as Cupid calls you, you are such a force to be reckoned with. You are elusive but nonetheless loved and cherished. You are an incredible storyteller, even if 99% of the time you're simply finding new ways to rip my heart to shreds. I know life kicks your ass more often than not (which is should stop doing, frankly /lh), but I hope you know how important you are to me and how I would rain hellfire at the drop of a hat for you. I've been very lucky to get to know someone like you, and I hope I get to continue gaining your lore, as you put it.

@cashandprizes: Miss Alexis Moonlight, it is no secret how much you have improved my quality of life. Even when you're fussing at me, I know it's out of love and it simply makes me a better person in the long run. Any time spent with you, be it online or face to face, is truly a blessing in more ways than one. I've said before and I'll say it again, you are someone who makes me feel incredibly safe and secured, especially on my harder days. And that is something I will never take for granted. You are such a visionary, even when you don't always give yourself credit for it. I'm always in awe of the things you manage to cook up, regardless of the form they take. I hope that someday I can repay you even a fraction of everything you've done for me.

@mr-laveau: Veau, candidate for the leader of the PK fanclub (alongside Frenchie and Lexi Moon if I'm not mistaken? /lh), it's no secret that I am one of your biggest cheerleaders. And I intend to maintain that title because you are incredible. You are an insanely talented artist, voice actor, and writer, and I don't care anyone else tries to convince you. You are also one of the kindest people I have met when it comes to people you care about/look out for. It's insane for me to think that this singular extended invitation could have allowed me a chance to get to know so many amazing people in the long run. I am so happy to have met you. You have helped me be self-indulgent with the things I make and have pushed me to not only go after the things I want, but be kinder to myself along the way. No amount of words I could give to you will ever encompass all that you mean to me.

here's a snippet of chapter 2!!

Day's is sprawling with information- paper not exactly overflowing, but you did run out of space in the area you were putting all your theories so you'd ended up using sticky notes taped together on the edge of the cork board, filled with scrawled sentences and small doodles. Polaroids with white ink notes written on them- your favorite is the chair, labelled simply as 'Day?'. It's a stupid theory, you know, but you've come to grow fond. It is pretty funny, in hindsight.

Night's half on the other hand- A blank sheet of paper, a polaroid of the radio with 'Night' written on it, a sticky note with 'Chad?' written in red ink and a second polaroid of a snowy owl you saw in the oak tree by your window one day that kind of reminded you of Night. Day's half is bright. Night's is dark. Night, no matter how hard you try, is elusive. He's a shadow. …Which is oddly fitting, now that you think about it.

This Pitch-Black Pokemon is shady and allusive by nature, but its incredible curiosity can coax it into appearances.

One night, as it flew through ancient Hisui, it happened upon a strange dream from an equally strange man. Piqued, it wished to know more, but the human’s guardian scared it away.

The years went by, and Darkrai continued to think about that child from the dream long after he was dead… Until he found a carbon copy of both the man and the dream in modern-day Unova.

Some time ago, Emmet’s twin brother went missing without a trace. Since then, Emmet has been continuing their legacy in the Battle Subway, in addition to tearing apart the puzzle left by his brother’s strange disappearance. (Off of the professional clock, of course!)

As time continues forward, the strategy in finding his brother has begun to shift and now Emmet looks into mythical, legendary, and otherwise elusive Pokemon who may help him, or be the culprit to the crime. Perhaps it is the grief of missing his twin, or perhaps a deeper-seeded fear that drives him after all of this time.

Stranded from the home he can’t remember and taken in by a clan he’d never heard of, Ingo now works as the conductor–or, Warden, as the Pearl Clan dubs him–of a Noble Sneasler.

While the feeling of unbelonging never fades, Ingo works hard in his goals as Warden, Battle Instructor, and reliable friend. Sometimes, he swears he catches a fleeting thought or strange dream of a hint of his origin. However, it is quick to evade his grasp.

Despite her standoffish and mocking nature all Sneasels and Sneaslers in Hisui share, Lady Sneasler’s nobility grants her a curiosity of the humans she is tasked with protecting, starting with her Warden. However, with her original Warden no longer with her, she is now learning coexistence with a new Warden.

This one perplexes her, wearing strange clothing and smelling of a strange land. She is curious of his destiny and respective of his experienced style of leadership. And he easily trusts her in turn.

About the Art-thor

What’s good everyone I’m the typical artist who only draws 3/4th view busts of blorbos so to force myself to improve and work outside my comfort zone I’m making a Pokemon fancomic out of this idea I’ve been microwaving in my brain for too long. I got fixated on how Darkrai is the last Pokemon in the Hisui Pokedex and only obtainable through BDSP save data, and also got sucked into the Subway Masters stuffs at the same time. Bon appetit.

In all seriousness though I’ve been daydreaming about being good enough to tell a decent story via comic format and recently came to terms that waiting around for the perfect opportunity was gonna waste my time in the long run. I want to focus on the process of telling a story through comic, but also stay having fun with it as well.

CH 1: Gen rating. No Archive Warnings Brother E-Sumi Yan contemplates his latest student.

Corrain had an odd aura to him, that much was certain. And it was not one caused merely by strangeness of his name, which defied the usual traditions of both Keepers and Seekers alike for reasons none could say. No- it was more than something so easily identified - and yet it was also an elusive thought, one only realized in passing, for there was little about the young man to give that winking shadow away. He was studious to be sure, and steadfast as the earth upon which all living creatures walked - there wasn’t a conjurer in all the guild who would argue otherwise. His usual reticence was less a flaw than a point of charm, his penchant for calm, attentive silence in the face of conversation evoking nary a trifle of concern from most of his fellows. And none could or wanted to deny his endlessly-practiced skill in the arts of healing and conjury. The youngest guild members looked up to him for that clear effort alone, E-Sumi Yan knew, as did many of his elders even though the young Miqo’te was scarce past his own childhood years. After all, it had become more than clear when Corrain first joined their guild that while talented in matters of magic and strong with aether, the healing arts did not come naturally to him - but he had applied himself, and the results were more than enough reason for the guild to take pride in his inclusion among their numbers.

Of course, being a healer without a natural predisposition to heal was not entirely an uncommon thing - there were many in E-Sumi Yan’s care who had the same circumstances, though they may not have applied themselves to quite the same extent that Corrain did. Nay- the lad’s odd, non-Miqo’te name was far stranger than that aspect of his presence in the Twelveswood.

Matador Records may be happening upon its next golden era, with the label who brought the world music by some of the most style-defining indie rock names like Pavement, Yo La Tengo, late-era Sonic Youth, Cat Power, Interpol and more recently, Snail Mail, again becoming a hotbed for its next gen with recent signees, the young Chicago rockers Horsegirl and Lifeguard, as well as Brooklyn’s Water From Your Eyes. bar italia, the London-based trio of Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton, are the latest to pique intrigue and add their own footprints on the label’s lasting impression in creating inimitable yet somehow, a familiar sound. Case in point is their first single for the label, “Nurse!” where there’s an air of elusive storytelling intersecting with nostalgia in their art house-minded post-punk wireframe. “Come here, join me in the silence / We need undoing to set us free / Forget about the man that stole your dream / 'Cause that was just the way it seemed,” sings Cristante, only to be followed in by the voice of either Fehmi or Fenton observing, “A mask covered your еyes / And you move like crazy to your favorite song / You said, ‘I'm coming alive’ / Haven't felt this way since you were 21.” Their transcendence through our timeline keeps a certain kind of indie rock mystique alive and well in an age where so much of the rest out there sounds uninspired.

Then the great migration of my gen 1-2 pokemon to the N64 Stadium titles and then emerald cloning some folks in gen 3 to then move forward! Taking red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, crystal, ruby, sapphire and emerald to have their batteries properly replaced on sunday and to be safe, I want to have those pokemon stored elsewheres or moved up just in case the battery replacements reset the games. I know the gen 1-2 boys will be reset but gen 3s i have some hope they'll be okay, but I wont take my chances and know how to do the cloning glitch in emerald for the guys I want to preserve XD

Then its back on my hunt for a 2.8 or higher shiny Buizel in my second legends save that im doing the Shiny NPC quest on, hes been going over 5 months now? Started before 2024 and hes elusive, more than the petilil i did on the same file! Im even hunting on my completed file to make my odds better to then move over with HOME man its been rough XD

Time to do all the things at my own pace and relax and rest the stress away yay ;w;b

Patterns: There's a pretty good balance between starting with dialogue, which I tend to like to do because it situates me right in the voices of the characters and allows me to establish that action quickly vs. starting with a slightly more descriptive but still pretty short sentence. I think I used to start with much longer sentences in my older fics, really lengthy descriptive screeds. But rarely do that now but there are few moments of that. In general, I like to just start in the middle of the action or a conversation. I'm mostly struck by how much Arcane, and Mel in particular, have inspired me lol, brainrot.

Favourite: #6 because that's probably one of my fave stories I've written along with #11, I like my fake Noxian fable.
