Charity Volunteer

With a very brief but insightful appearance in Moomin and the Golden Tail, this hemulen asks for Moomin's signature for a subscription list to Homeless Hemul, presumably a charity for the homeless (likely hemulens?) only after Moomin's celebritydom due to the golden tail has died down.

La Goona

A major one-off plot character from the comic Moomin Falls in Love and adapted into the 90s series, La Goona is the female lead of a circus and a vamp, preferring to use Moomin's feelings for her to her advantage. Her one rational friend is the talking Sea-horse she rides on and her interest is the strong man of the circus, Emeraldo.

Although she was characterized as selfish, in the end she realizes she wants to stick with Emeraldo and is a little embarrassed but not against the idea of entertaining him for a change.

A prince for dinner

Aaaaaaaaand he was lost. Again.

Damn it.

Rob grumbled with frustration and had a look at his map. A river here, a crossroad this way, so he must be... There! So let's go back to the castle.

Oh, yeah : Rob was a prince. A 17-year-old, stubborn, rebel prince always dressed with old boots and a leather shirt, but a prince anyway.

Too concentrated on his map, the boy hurt a tree. A weird tree actually, it feels like... scales? Rob raised his head.

Oh god.

That was not a tree. That was a really, really big foot. His owner was a giant man, partially covered with metallic scales.

"Okay, calm down, boy, " the prince thought. "He haven't seen you yet. So we're gonna slowly turn back, and just esc..."

His sentence died in a scream : the half-dragon has grabbed him into his enourmous hand. He slowly moved his prey in front of his face and stated at him for a moment. Trapped under an actual Predator's gaze, Rob was shaking like a leaf.

Suddenly the monster talked :

-Hello you. What do we got there?

-Er... I'm a boy... Just a wandering boy. Not a hunter or anything.

-I can see that. Ya not even armed... Do ya now this forest is a dangerous place, for kids like you? Litterally anything could make a lunch of you, he added before laughing.

"Yup. Including this big guy. I'm gonna die... I'm gonna die so much..."

-But I'm curious, who are you and where do you come from, kid?

-Why do you care? You're gonna eat me.

-Geehee, you're safe for now. I only eat people I can't bear. Currently, I kinda like you. You're funny.

Good news, finally. Maybe this giant was nice after all.

-I'm Gajeel, the Iron Dragon. Who are you?

-My name is Robin Emeraldo, but i better like Rob. I'm the prince of...

-... The Emerald Kingdom? And your'e the son of Andros Emeraldo, the Dragon Killer?

-Well... I guess?

In a wink, Gajeel's face became hostile. Oops. Rob now remembers his father enjoys hunting the dragon. Showing his fangs, the dragon explained :

- That king Andros bastard killed too much of my brothers and sisters. And today his brat falls into my hands. I guess it's time for revenge...

Oh my. The prince was in trouble. And fighting alone a 50 ft. dragon guy, magic user as well, was next to impossible. Oh did I mention Rob has no weapon? Yep, it's this kind of trouble.

-Hey wait a minute! I have never killed any dragon! I'm not my father!

-Shut up, you idiot. I know you did, but I wanna see how will this good old king react when he will learn his only heir has been swallowed as a snack.

He used his iron magic to create a pair of chopsticks. Then he had a terrifying smile.

-And now... It's sushi time for papa!

The boy was caught between the two chopsticks before he could say anything. Gajeel put starving eyes on him.

-Hey! What are you doing?! Rob shouted. I am a prince, you know!

-Well I guess princes taste like caviar, the giant answered licking lips.

- PLEASE NO! I'm too young to die!

The prince was about to ask to negotiate with the kingdom, but when he saw the gigantic mouth, full of sharp teeth and saliva, he understood it was useless. So he only waited for his end while shaking as hell.

Gajeel gently put the little human on his tongue, then removed the chopsticks from his mouth. Rob, terrified, curled up. He felt he was being tasted as a royal snack, and shortly after he was caught by a huge gullet.

The esophagus didn't stop moving around him, working to pushing him downer and downer. After what seemed for him an eternity, Rob landed in the giant's enourmous stomach.

The chamber looked like a hot, wet cave. Except the boy could hear the monster's breathing loudly. Well... He guessed the only thing he was able to do now was waiting for him to be digested.

-What the hell wave you done?! Shouted a girl's voice from the outside.

- Little moon, this doesn't concern you. Gajeel answered.

- It does, you dumb! I will never let you killing an innocent! What do you take from your stupid revenge? This won't bring your fellows back.

-Sure... But I'm making sure the daddy'll never mess with dragons again.

- And if the king want to avenge his son? What will you do? Revenge drives to revenge, Gajeel.

Rob has no idea of what was happening. But he felt like this girl was trying to save him.

- You're probably right... Okay, I see.

Suddenly, from Gajeel's stomach, Rob heard his cavernous voice :

-Well I've got great news for you, little caviar boy : you'll be free after this night.

-Wait... What?

"Why will I not be digested? Why did you swallow me, if you don't want to eat me? Who is this girl? What is going on, DAMMIT?!" was what he wanted to ask, but nothing got out of his mouth.

-Hey! Let me go, right now!

- Well... No. You suit well in there. The dragon answered before patting his belly.

- Gajeel, you big idiot! The girl shouted again.

-Oh c'mon, Luna. It's just a kind of game between guys.

"Oh nice, that's really funny", thought the angry prince.

He definitively found weird friends. But it was actually pretty fun.

This is why I think they could totally take the Moomin Falls in Love story for one episode and somehow change it so that by its end, Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden both agree that they’re much better off as friends. Maybe her jealousy of La Goona opens a discussion between them where she admits her fear that she’ll never be enough - never be Snufkin - for moomintroll. Or La Goona mentions how Emeraldo does so much for her without her even asking and Snorkmaiden’s like huh usually I have to push Moomintroll to do what I want.....I mean heck in the comic the boys and girls even decide they’re tired of each other and live separately in peace - this is just played off more as a joke and they actually wish to be together & so end up reuniting but it’d be interesting to see a modern take on it.

Ofc the series would never be so on-the-nose about such issues & Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden’s relationship but I can dream 😩

Side key all the way. We have really small hands, and a pinky key euphonium, and it makes it fucking HELL to play the lower partials. Fingers keep in slipping inbetween the fucking caps, like how the fuck...
