I do regret it (Alexia Putellas x reader)

A/N: to @grapefruit-personified and the Anon that bribed me with coffee emoj’s. This one is for you, I hope you enjoy it.

You thought the American’s knew how to party but the Spanish, well they put some of your wildest nights to shame. You could count on one hand the amount of times Alexia wasn’t by you side as you spent the night celebrating winning the league on the dance floor as some of your favourite Spanish songs fill the speakers.

It is in the early hours when the bar closes that you find yourself in a taxi with Alexia. The driver asks how many stops and where to, Alexia told him one and the address of her apartment.

The next morning you woke up with a pounding headache, reminding you just how much alcohol you consumed the night before. You feel a weight on top of you and much to your surprise it is Alexia who is sleeping peacefully against your chest, the two of you covered in nothing but the bed sheets. As you gently stoke her hair you are reminded of the events that took place just a few hours ago.

“It wasn’t suppose to happen like this” you whisper before gently moving Alexia so that you can get out of bed.

Not ready to think about what last night meant, you leave Alexia’s apartment before she wakes up.

Due to having off field commitments you don’t see Alexia until the game against Real Sociadad. To your surprise Alexia chooses to sit near Parti instead of you, the young midfielder gives you an apologetic look as she knows the two of you normally sit together on away days.

Hours pass and Alexia refuses to be near you, never mind talk to you.

When the team is about to do the warms up you pull Alexia back into the locker room.

“Hey” you say but she refuses to meet your gaze “Look at me”

When she does, the warm hazel eyes you adore aren’t the ones you are met with.

“Something’s wrong, tell me what it is and I will do everything I can to make it better”

Alexia walks away sitting back in her locker.

“The night we won the league” Alexia’s words strike fear in you. The two of you hadn’t spoke about it and you were hoping that she would forget, truth is you only remember pieces.

“Alexia—“

“Do you regret it?” She asks as she plays with the drawstring on her shorts.

The answer is simple, at least to you it is.

“Of course I do” you reply.

Your blatancy catches her off guard and your words cut deep. How could you feel nothing whilst she feels everything. Alexia hasn’t been able to stop thinking about the night the two of you shared, how she wished you hadn’t walked out on her.

Not knowing what to say, she chooses to say nothing. Instead she pushes past you as she heads out to the pitch.

“Alexia” you shout. She turns to face you before shaking her head, leaving you by yourself.

The game ends with a Barcelona victory but for the first time this season neither you, nor Alexia are involved in any of the goals.

When you see her running to the tunnel after the game instead of meeting the fans you know something is wrong as she always thanks them for travelling to support the team. You run after her knowing that nothing or nobody else matters in that moment.

You open the door to see Alexia hunched over in her locker. The sight itself makes you feel sick.

“Please tell me what’s wrong?” You bend down so you are at her level.

“How could you say that?” Alexia asks.

“What are you—“ your attempt at getting Alexia to explain further is cut short as you get called back out to the pitch for media.

You return to the locker room and what you are welcomed with comes as a shock. Several players surround Alexia, the sound of her sobs travel across the room. Worry consumes you and you go straight to her, wanting to know if she is ok.

“Get out!” Jenni snaps, her number one priority is to protect her best friend.

The players who have decided to give Alexia space jump when the hear the forward raise her voice. Their attention now on you as they watch in intrigue, waiting to see how you will respond.

“No!” you stand your ground.

Looking behind Jenni’s shoulder, you see Alexia watching the two of you. You see the hurt on her face, the redness in her eyes and suddenly Jenni’s reaction makes sense.

“I won’t ask again” Jenni warns.

The angry within you rises, not liking the way she is speaking to you in front of the team.

“You didn’t ask the first time” You snap back, taking one step closer to the forward.

Both of you, equal in height, stand in the middle of the locker room, toe to toe, your faces millimetres away from each other. You hear some of your team mates try to talk you down but you don’t move. Something is wrong with Alexia and you wasn’t going to leave her.

“You can’t make me leave. I don’t answer to you” you poke her chest. “I answer to her” you point to Alexia.

Seconds pass, neither of you moving from your spots. Jenni is the immovable object whilst you are the unstoppable force.

“Leave”

You brake your gaze upon hearing her voice. Alexia walks towards to two of you, her friends still remain close.

“Jenni is right” you wince as she chooses her best friend over you “you should leave”

Your demeanour soon changes. Jenni now that last thing on your mind.

“Ale” you beg.

At this point Mapi, who much to your surprise has stayed neutral until this point, comes to your side.

“Only her friends get to call her that” she says but is unable to meet your eyes.

You didn’t understand why Mapi was saying this. She knows more than anyone how much Alexia means you to. It was her that you first confided in when you realised that you were in love with your best friend. Now here she stands, by Alexia’s side and not yours. Looking around, the only person that seems to be on your side it Caroline.

“You know what, fuck all of you. I have done nothing wrong but it’s nice to see who my friends are” you snap.

The team remain in silence as they watch you pack up your things and storm out of the locker room, Caro following in suit. After your departure there is an eerie atmosphere, the majority of the players not knowing what just happened or the reason why.

The why is the thing that was bothering you the most. If anything you admired Jenni’s loyalty to her friend, it was nice knowing Alexia had someone in her corner who would literally fight for her.

Your angry fails to subside even when you are back at the hotel. When Caroline asks you if you are going down for food you decline stating that you were sore after the game, the Norweigan knows that you not wanting to be with the team has nothing to do with you needing to rest.

You knew that when Alexia is upset she, similar to you, likes to be alone so once your room mate goes for the team meal you take the opportunity to see woman that has been on your mind all day.

Once outside her door you hear a voice and it didn’t belong to Alexia. Great, you think to yourself. Regardless you knock on the door, knowing that getting on the other side of the threshold might be challenging.

“What are you doing here?” Mapi asks.

When you look at the blonde you can see the how torn she is as she looks back at you, then at alexia, then back at you. You ignore her question, instead you look around her and at the woman you came to see.

“Can I come in?” You ask her not caring about the others players in the room.

“No, you—“ Leila begins to answer for Alexia but you don’t let her finish.

“I wasn’t talking to you” you growl whilst not taking your eyes off the Alexia.

Upon seeing Alexia, really seeing her, you relax your shoulders, your stoic expression is soon replaced with a look of concern but also of hurt. You let her see you, the person who is struggling with not knowing what is wrong with her.

“Let her in” Alexia tells Leila who in turn shakes her head.

You smirk at Leila, raising your eyebrows in victory.

2 down, 1 to go. Jenni still stood by Alexia’s side.

“What happened?” You ask “I don’t understand how things got like this” you point around to Alexia’s guard dogs “And you” you point at Jenni “What was that in the locker room?”

“Oh you know exactly what you did” Jenni begins to get annoyed at your refusal to take blame.

“What I did” you are shocked “I didn’t do anything. I went to do media and when I came back I was enemy number 1”

“It’s what you said” Alexia says barely a whisper.

You try to think of something that you said which would have gained this reaction, not only from Alexia but also from your team mates. The only thing you talked about was….then it came to you.

You scan the room, this isn’t a conversation you want to have with anyone other than Alexia. Jenni notices your action and doesn’t like it one bit.

“I’m not leaving” she protests.

Alexia doesn’t say anything and you take that as she wants her to stay.

“Fine but can you at least go sit with thing 1 and thing 2 on the bed” you tip your head to the two meli’s.

To your amazement Jenni does as you say.

The way Alexia looks at you, you can tell you have hurt her and that was not your intention at all.

“It’s about what I said in the locker room, isn’t it?” You ask and Alexia nods her head.

Words have never been your strong suit, you have always been an action kind of girl. You wished this was a rom com because you could just kiss Alexia and that would be enough to tell her how your truly feel but real life doesn’t work that way, now you have to use your words to fix this.

“You asked me a question and I stand by my answer but you walked away before I could finish it” you explain whilst trying to be as vague as you can knowing that you have an audience.

“So you do regret sleeping with me? Did it mean nothing to you?” Clearly Alexia didn’t share the same need for privacy.

“I do”

At this Jenni stands back up.

“Let me finish” you are quick to turn on your feet to stop her from coming closer.

“I regret doing it whilst we were drunk. As for what it meant to me, it meant everything. I don’t sleep with people if I don’t care for them”

“But you slept with that French player during the SheBelieves” Mapi interjects.

This is why you wanted this conversation to be between just you and Alexia.

“First of all, if you are staying here I need you to be quiet. Second of all, I didn’t sleep with her” you argue.

“Why, she was pretty” Alexia says which only angers you more.

“Because she wasn’t you!!!” You shout.

“What?” Alexia says, her tone letting you know that she doesn’t understand what you mean.

“I regret sleeping you with because we were drunk and it was our first time” you say the last two words quietly because you start to get embarrassed “I have thought about what it would be like to, you know what I won’t finish that sentence” you stop yourself.

“Thank god” Leila mumbles causing the two of you to laugh.

“Alexia, I like you, more than I have liked anybody in entire life. That night I was very drunk, I couldn’t have been that good and I can’t even remember most of it”

“It was good, you were—” Alexia is cut off.

“Please don’t finish that sentence” Mapi begs.

You hold your index finger up at Alexia as if saying one minute before walking over to Jenni.

“Knowing what I truly meant, please can you give us the room?” You ask the forward who nods her head.

Turning your attention back to Alexia you let yourself be open, honest and vulnerable.

“I loved and hated that night. On one hand I had everything I wanted, the most beautiful girl in the world and I was getting to sleep with her” you laugh a little, trying to lighten the mood “but like I said I was drunk. I wanted it to be different”

“How different?” Alexia asks playfully.

“I would take you out, probably to sushi because it’s your favourite. Then we would go for a walk around the city, I would be nervous at first but I would reach for your hand, holding it in mine so that you couldn’t change your mind and leave me”

“I would never leave you” you says reassuringly.

“Good to know. Then when the night comes to an end I would ask you if I could walk you to your apartment all whilst thinking of ways to make the night last longer”

Alexia hangs on your every word as you describe the date.

“I would kiss you, that is if you wanted me to”

“I want you to”

A smile grows on your face at the way Alexia phrased her sentence.

You close the distance between the two of you. Your lips connect with hers, wasting no time as your mouths move in sync, only separating when breathing becomes an issue.

“I think you kiss better when you are drunk” Alexia teases you.

You shake her head at her playfullness.

“I do not” you jokingly argue “Let me show you”

Once again you kiss Alexia, this one with more passion than the last.

Later on that week you take Alexia on the date you had planned, showing her what a real first time should feel like.

Okay, so everyone gather around, we need to talk about something, well a lot of things. I sat on this a while and was just not sure if I wanted to post this or just deal with it in private. Multiple topics under the cut.

As we know, interaction is terrible on this site now and 90% of people are using it like instagram or twitter. scroll, like, scroll, like. For the love of god, this is tumblr, not instagram or twitter. Please, if you are new here, keep this hellshit enjoyable and listen to creators and other users when we offer suggestions.

New here? read this | and this

Now the topic of reblogs. YES there are some creators who don't care about this and love to shout "no one owes you anything" and everyone is entitled to their options and feelings. That being said, there are many creators who DO CARE about this, me included.

There are many creators who are negatively affected by shitty and no interaction. We love what we do, so will we still do it without you? yes. But we chose to share here because we like sharing, we also like the interaction, we like the community. We do write for ourselves, and because we love it ( so please stop saying that as a generic response when a creator is venting, even if you mean well, it's still not helpful).

We are sharing works FOR FREE with the public and there is nothing wrong with wanting some interaction and reblogs, it's nice, it's a sign of appreciation, for some it boosts our morale as we offer up our babies for public viewing. I know for me, I have been very impacted by the way people use this site now, it sucks, it depresses me. Will it make me stop writing? Never. Will it make me consider keeping my work private at some point and just write in my own little corner of the world where my work is no longer free to view, yeah maybe. This place used to be so inspiring, and that is gone. Sure, some will disagree and that's okay. My blog, my option, my post.

So, when creators are like " hey it would be nice if you reblogged or interacted" it is not us begging, it is not us being babies, it's not us being ungrateful, it is not us disregarding shy or anon readers, its not us saying “wah you owe me!” - its us asking for something that is a great gesture of appreciation for the content you consume, FOR FREE. We are not asking for payout or to praise us, just show some signs of life people. That like button is in the same place at the reblog one, use it. Don't want to mess up your page aesthetic? Well you could make a reblog account. Those are great. I have two of them to support writers.

Am i saying you should reblog everything, no. So don't even bring that up. Reblog what you like. Help it get seen. Likes do NOTHING on tumblr aside from say "hey cool" or “liked this” and there is nothing wrong with that, just if you want to step up your game, reblog it, comment, interact. Have you ever seen a fic on your dash, one someone else shared and loved it? Well, do you know how you saw it? because someone reblogged it. A like did not do that. reblogs = exposure and fic circulation. The fic/gif set/art lives on in a bigger orbit!

Addition: reblog accounts are a thing! Many people do them. It’s an easy way you can keep your page however you want, but still reblog (means share, circulate) the original authors work. You do this by making a Sideblog and can dedicate that to reblogs only. I do that too! I have more than one RB account that is only dedicated to sharing other ppls work.

Now, the next topic...Updates

In the last month I have received lots of messages like "when is so and so being updated" "are you finishing ____" but on these same works, as I'm busting my ass, no one comments, no one reblogs and there's like 4 likes. Many of these messages don't even start with a greeting either.

Sooooo if readers are so ardent to see something, if you are actually reading it, if you want to support the author, how about showing some signs of life? Even if you just go anon and throw a bunch of emojis in their mailbox, that's good too! You can stay anon and be like " hey i really am enjoying that fic" - trust me, you will make the author smile.

One of the issues with this liking only thing is we can't tell if our work is actually being read or valued. And it sucks. Honestly, I don't look at my notifications for likes anymore, I don't. It's discouraging and it feels like no one is reading anything, just blankly liking it as if this was instagram or twitter. Could I be wrong? Sure. Of course. I mean I like stuff to find it later in the day so we have systems right? But this is just me venting on my own page so I'm holding the mic...

All of this is to say, don't demand updates from creators. If you like something, great. If you are excited, great. We love it! I love a well intentioned message from someone excited for an update. Tone matters, don't be a dick, don't be entitled, don't be rude. A creator is sharing their work with you FOR FREE, shit if they want to take 5 months to update, let them take 5 months. if they want to drop it for now and write in a totally new fandom for a bit, let them live.

So, do we love your excitement for updates? YES. But don't be a dick about it, don't demand it. And when said work is posted, how about you hit that reblog button or leave a comment or send some keyboard smashing excitement to their mailbox as a "yay its here, thank you creator"

Now, minors and sketchy looking blank accounts…

We are tired. I AM TIRED. I have never in my life had to do so much followers-list maintenance and I took a break because that shit is exhausting. Please, if you are a minor, do not follow adult blogs, stop ignoring our warnings. if you are a blank blog, take some time to not have a sketchy looking blog. More on this topic in this post.

Next…Complaining how there is no new content

YES there is! Some of you only read works by big blogs and only read their work on certain characters. So no, you can't complain there is nothing new for you to read. Many people do not give other writers a chance and only go to 1-3 blogs as the “be all end all” for a fandom or said characters. There is nothing wrong with favorites. That’s not what I’m taking about here. Branch out, there are so many writers, so many creatives, so many stories. The big and popular blogs are not the only ones who have stories to tell and share. Give other people a damn chance.

Okay, that's all I have to say. If anyone is sick of hearing about any of this, I don’t care. You can filter it out or unfollow. All this needs to be said, so I said it. Not just for me, but for all the creators who are frustrated. And trust me, many, if not most are. Some have left already for the above reasons, plus other reasons. This place could end up without content, slowly, eventually if creators continue to leave. So many have already.

Another topic is inner fandom drama but I’m not gonna touch that. Just be kind to each other, don’t be an asshole. Try to keep these spaces enjoyable. For many of us, this is out little escape.

Hello ! It's been a while since the last. Not much to share but we're still alive and kicking ! I hope you all are doing well !

Updates:

➥ We have a new affiliate in Clover City KRP. They are a brand new KRP group with an interesting concept ! Please feel free to check them out !

➥ Elysian has an exciting event planned for the month of February right after our Fashion Week! Keep an eye out on our events group!

➥ We've launched a poll for our movie night concluding our Fashion Week Event! We would appreciate it if you could participate in it. Even if you don't intend to show up it allows us to get a good sense of how we feel about big community events like these and whether we should be putting our efforts towards it or not. The more information we collect the more we can plan out community game nights and other activities.

➥ Yes! We're aware of how quiet it has been at Elysian! I wish I could offer solutions but it's not in my control. We've expressed a great dislike in Activity Checks but maybe it's time we revisit the discussion?

Meanwhile, all I can do is ask you all to step out of your comfort zone (even for a minute or two!) and prove to the world we're still here ! Comment on someone's post who's not from your group or social circle! Participate in activities! Respond to stories! These little things go a long way in making someone feel invited and accepted. New members will run away if we don't make space! One of the qualities of Elysian that has stood out and we've become known for is how welcoming we are to new members!

Reminders:

➥ All new members are expected to make their first timeline post within 48 hours of their announced arrival. Failure to do so will result in your removal and you will have to reapply for your muse again. If there is anything keeping you from completing this task please reach out to admin.

his older sister is mary schmidt from five nights at candy's

he's actually one of cassidy and michael's older cousins. the millers and the schmidts are estranged from the aftons so william never knew about either

mike is trans ftm and had a thing w/ scott (phone guy) for a while before he realized this! unfortunately he panicked and ghosted scott after. um. baby

he's also robby schmidt/phone dude's father and managed to start transitioning maybe a year after he was born

he and mary are rather close

mike LOVES arcade games. thankfully, so does robby. often they'd go to local arcades or even drop by freddy's and hang out in there for a while

worked the dayshift at freddy)s for a while. always thoughtthe animatronics were creepy as hell. this is where he met scott again 😳

starting in maybe 94 or 95, he and scott have a pretty steady relationship :] famoly

mike is also part f the 'fuck freddy's gang'. he gets very close to burning 2 death bc robby missed the signal to get out. when pizza sim rolls around he reluctantly jumps back in as a dayshift security guard but ONLY becuase michael asked. he's told to take the day off , and then wakes up to the news about the location burning down and taking henry with it. he does not know how to feel about this.

he used to smoke but quit so he wouldn't end up hurting robby

mike has dressed formally 5 times in his life. all he knows is t shirt and jeans. maybe some jorts. /j

Should Your Agency Use Emojis in Social Media? Really?

“Charlotte, we’re a Fortune 500 institution,” the CEO of a large US corporation said. “Our followers don’t want to play childish emoji games!” As director of Contentworks Agency, I had just suggested the brand use more emojis on Twitter to improve its engagement and brand perception.

That incredulous reaction from brands is not uncommon. So, should your agency use emojis in social media? Let’s first look at some emoji stats.

Emojis by the Numbers

Emojis were developed in the late 1990s by Japanese communications firm NTT DoCoMo.

In total there are 3,019 emojis in the Unicode Standard as of March 2019.

5 billion emojis are sent daily on Facebook Messenger.

World Emoji Day is July 17.

92% of Internet users have used emojis.

25-29-year olds use the most emojis.

These are the top five most popular emojis in 2019. (Nice to see that happiness and love outweigh angry and sad in the social media space!)

Now, let’s dig into why I suggested to the CEO that his brand use emojis.

5 Reasons Your Agency Should Use Emojis in Social Media Marketing

1. Emojis are universal

The great thing about social media marketing is that it’s universal. You can reach potential clients all around the world with just one tweet. But what about the language barrier?

Emojis are completely universal as their meanings are understood in the same way in each country. For marketers, this is a good thing. You save on translation costs, print, designs, and the need to localize the meaning for each region.

Take this emoji billboard ad from McDonald’s as an example. Regardless of language, we all understand the meaning: Having a bad day? Go to McDonald’s and get happy again. Very smart use of emojis!

Similarly, as a roadside ad, this emoji storytelling method is easy to grasp and understand:

Use familiar emojis that your global audience will relate to.

Display your emojis on a clean background to make them easier to read.

If you hashtag an emoji on Insta, it will become a live link to see all other Instagram posts that have hashtagged that emoji.

2. Emojis engage fans

There’s a good reason why social media marketers use emojis. (Aside from the fact that we like emojis and it’s fun to use them.)

The use of emojis increases engagement by a whopping 48% on Instagram. Posts that use emojis on Instagram have an interaction rate of 2.21% and posts without emojis have 1.77%.

In fact, Wordstream founder Larry Kim, conducted an experiment to analyze the impact of emojis on engagement. Tweets with emojis received 25.4% more engagement than those without as you can see below:

And influencers are using emojis to increase engagement too. A recent study analyzed 31 million tweets and half a million Facebook posts and found that emoticons were a common factor among all the influential social accounts.

Not all users experience an increased engagement rate, and the rate may depend on the social media channel. For example, the Social Media Lab ran an experiment on Twitter emojis that had very different results from the Lab experiment on Facebook emojis.

My view on this is that engagement results depend on the brand, subject, and emojis used. For example, asking users to vote using emojis or emoticons rather than a comment or share is usually successful as it requires far less user effort.

Run split tests on your posts with and without emojis to test the results. As an agency, you can also use this to show your clients what works and what doesn’t.

Increase email engagement with emojis. 56% of businesses saw an increase in email open rate when they used an emoji in the subject. Remember that not all emojis show up properly on different mobile devices. Be sure to test before you go live.

Modernize the way users engage with content by employing emoji plugins like emojics.

3. Emojis make innovative marketing campaigns

Working in digital marketing today requires continuous innovation and creativity. It also demands that agencies stay focused on user trends.

Remember back in 2014 when Taco Bell (or rather, Taco Bell’s marketing agency) decided to lobby Unicode Consortium for a taco emoji to be made available for Android and iOS? This led to a change.org campaign with thirty-three thousand online signatures and the creation of the taco emoji that sits on our emoji dashboard today. True story.

More recently, marketing agencies have been incorporating emoji tactics into leading brand campaigns.

For example, Disney used emojis to promote “The Force Awakens” and to introduce the BB8 droid:

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) used emojis to create awareness about animals in danger of extinction, WWF created 17 emojis of endangered animals and encouraged users to donate 10p every time they retweeted one. WWF’s #EndangeredEmoji Twitter campaign received around 559,000 mentions and more than 59,000 signups in the first three months since it was released. (Watch its short emoji video here.)

When the Beatles catalog launched on Spotify, Spotify developed fun ways for followers to celebrate the Beatles with emojis. This neat campaign made #BeatlesOnSpotify four times more popular than #Beatles during the launch and gave Spotify an 83% share of the conversation!

Agencies need to use emojis on a case by case basis. Though most millennials prefer to express emotion using emojis, only 37% of people over 65 feel this way.

4. Emojis work with human psychology

I’m not a psychologist, but I am interested in the best ways brands can communicate on social media. And for that, we need to understand basic psychology. In a 2017 study published in the journal Trends on Cognitive sciences, researchers found that the use of emojis provides the same satisfaction as actually interacting with another person. Similarly, studies show that 72% of 18-25-year-olds preferred using emojis to convey their feelings. This makes the use of emojis highly valuable in gaging brand or product sentiment.

And social media users respond positively to emojis.

Don’t be afraid to use emojis in Messenger or comments when responding to fans.

Social media users are often afraid to comment on sensitive topics as their friends will be able to see them. Use emoji votes to gauge true opinions.

Keep emoji usage friendly to foster positive brand association.

5. Lose the emoji snobbery

Just like our Fortune 500 client, many agencies and brands believe that emojis are only for trendy fashion companies and not serious finance brands. Or perhaps even that they are too cheap for their own brand. That simply isn’t true. Social media users are emoji users. Once we understand that, we understand that if your brand is too exclusive for emojis, it’s too exclusive for most Internet users. And this applies across various sectors. Look at cool finance brand Revolut and the way it interacts with fans using emojis:

Never dismiss an industry as not being right for emojis. Government, finance, and even legal sectors successfully use them.
