Hi Sarah, have you heard what songs didn’t make the Final Cut? If you have, what are your thoughts on the ones that have been cut?
Don’t want to spoil anything incase you haven’t seen what ones she’s cut for the movie?
Hi! I have. I'm personally going to wait until I see the film tonight to divulge my full thoughts in terms of how the decision to cut certain songs actually ends up *feeling* in the flow of the film. Context is always important!
But my initial thoughts before having seen the movie are the only two that genuinely surprise and upset me are "The Archer" and "Long Live" (which I know gets included in the closing credits but? still?). My personal bias for the former aside, it has really beautiful staging and 'choreography' moments that are really poignant and it also gives a softer, more introspective finisher to the opening set. And "Long Live" for obvious reasons in that that is pure fan service and it's crazy to cut it???????? Instinctively, I'm fine with "NBNC" being cut - I assume it was because HAIM's guest appearance is not representative of the tour itself and it was cleaner/more cohesive to not include it. Which sadly meant that "ttds" died at the altar for nothing. RIP. "cardigan" is a sad omission because of its lead single status but it's also kind of a sleepy performance production-wise in the show so for timing perhaps that's why it was cut.
