G-d/The Universe: welcome to the world, Meig! you're going to be obsessed with dinosaurs me: okay cool G-d/The Universe: you're going to be aware of mass extinctions before you understand death me: is that a good thing- G-d/The Universe: and as such, you'll realize the true dangers of climate change before you start school me: that doesn't seem appropriate for a 6 year old to kn- G-d/The Universe: you also have PCOS and erythromelalgia. you'll basically only be comfortable at temperatures at or under 68F/20C me: but wait the climate is getting warmer so am I screwed or- G-d/The Universe: and you'll spend your whole life watching all the people older than you completely ignore and or trivialize this issue in the favor of infinite growth and capitalism. Also, everyone around you will act like you're crazy for being warm all the time. Have fun! me: oh for FUCK'S SAKE

Shout out to disabled people who are, ya know, existing with symptoms - whatever they may be. Who are exhausted/fatigued some (or all) days. Who are in pain. Who live in a world that doesn’t understand them, a world that isn’t built for them.
I hope you have the time to cuddle your favorite stuffed animal. I hope you watch an amazing episode of your favorite show. I hope you meet a doctor that smiles and sees you and works with you. Much love to you all.

It turns out that things like hot baths and moderate exercise, while good for many types of chronic pain, are bad for Body Unable To Handle Heat and Movement Diseases.

So I've just recently come to terms with it, but apparently a few months ago I got diagnosed a rare chronic illness that is so rare that it has no cure/therapy so I have to show up at the hospital for controls twice a year and if it worsens then it's a constant travel to the hospital but it's 🆒️ because I study in one already yay yay
but anyways
have a tictac about it (under a read more because it's like a sorta description and while it's not detailed it still describes an illness so ??? idk)

Being around a whole new group of people again + having to set up and decorate an apartment is making me realize once again that most people don’t deal with physical hindrances/chronic pain (and aren’t autistic but that’s not my main point) and that I genuinely am disabled

Erythromelalgia is crazy like you're telling me I have MAN ON FIRE syndrome and I'm supposed to just walk around like that's not the most metal shit I've ever heard?

I'm begging rental agencies to be more clear about air conditioning. This is not a difficult task. I should not have to contact a manager to ask whether I'm going to boil alive in the summer.
I know I'm especially sensitive to this because I have heat-induced nerve pain that is charitably described by the medical literature as "intense burning," but good grief. A dinky little window unit is not going to do shit in a heat wave. I regret to inform you that we're not reversing global warming any time soon, and it's probably time to fork over money for actual air conditioning.

This is important to share for awareness. I learned a lot here. Pass it on. It’s the whole point of this piece.

I'm now technically a vampire and 7 year old me is so happy
I've been waiting for someone to put a name to my chronic pain and my dermatologist said that he is certain that is Erthropoietic Porphyria (epp). This is also called vampire disease and its called this because any and all light hurts like a mother fucker, like vampires (I sparkle in the sun lol).
Because its so rare there really isn't much about it that I can find that would be helpful so is there any other vampires willing to help me out?

The Magnesium Solution for High Blood Pressure, How to Use Magnesium to Help Prevent and Relieve Hypertension Naturally.
By Jay S. Cohen, MD. 2004. 82 pp. Reviewed by: William Olkowski, PhD This small booklet tells the story of widespread magnesium deficiencies in the US population and how this is part of the causal pathway to hypertension. Supplemental magnesium should be part of the treatment program for hypertension treatment, but it is not recommended by most physicians who recommend drugs for hypertension…
