SCP Foundation? Nah, man. SCP Institute.

I had the idea for this for awhile, but then I saw that @existentialterror is a fan of tma and I decided I had to draw it out.

Ramblings about AU shenanigans under the cut!

Bear with me if none of this makes any sense, this is purely me gushing about two things that I love very much gfjdsaljf.

The Foundation is incredibly similar to the Magnus Institute! It’s an organization that operates under the guise of wanting to help/study/etc, but it’s really just a means of feeding the Eye. Staff members of level 2 clearance or lower are more often than not unaware of what’s really going on. Many of the supernatural traits displayed by senior staff are explained away as anomalous and just a part of the job.

The Brights are all avatars of the Eye. In terms of Jack specifically, he body-hops Jonah-style after a Ritual gone wrong. 963 was the centerpiece, so it was swept under the rug as a containment breach with unintended side effects.

Clef is an avatar of the Spiral and touched by the Hunt. True to original lore, nobody knows exactly how Clef became an avatar, but the fact that he’s aligned with the Spiral and Hunts other Spiral entities is the topic of lots of speculation. His music is hypnotizing and god awful all at once. 

Kondraki is an avatar of the Corruption. 408 is just the tip of the iceberg, he actively attracts butterflies and moths. He’s crawling with the things almost 24/7, and there’s always some sort of chrysalis or cocoon hanging off of the brim of his hat. Since becoming an avatar, he drinks a lot of sugar water, but otherwise needs very little sustenance or sleep. Seeing him in his office at 3 am staring into nothing has commonly been described as ‘fucking creepy.’

Gears is an avatar of the Lonely and touched by the End. Naturally, as per existing lore, Gears is very robotic due to his work at the Foundation. As a result of an encounter with an End entity (an Endtity, if you will), Gears’s emotions began to dull themselves more rapidly. His growing inability to display empathy was like a beacon to the Lonely, and he plunged into the fog that now constantly fills his office. Iceberg is one of the only people that has a chance of pulling him back out.

TL;DR: Bright is Diet Jonah Magnus, Clef is a chaotic Spiral-Hunter, Kondraki is a bug boy man, and Gears needs a hug.

If anyone is interested, I’d be happy to expand on this with some other characters! :)
