i don't really have any solid conclusions about this yet but i noticed A Thing in a rewatch and i haven't found it mentioned elsewhere yet so here we go

(apologies for the appalling image quality you're about to see, i can't screenshot easily rn pls bear with)

OKAY so in the scene where crowley confronts gabriel about "shut up and die", something about the arrangement of book stacks caught my eye a little

the majority of the books are angled so that we mostly just see the page edges and not the spines clearly, EXCEPT for a particularly shiny and familiar colour combo right here-

but nothing too weird going on there, i thought, crowley coloured books in a bookshop so what? right up until i registered crowley's line when we get a closer look-

hhhhmmmmMMmmmm yes yes "everything just the way you wanted" huh, very interesting considering that we know how much thought goes into props huh

and for most of the shots we get of crowley in this position those freaking books are just quietly nestled right there in the corner-

look at that god damn framing i fuckin see you, you glorious bastards

so i paused to see if i could figure out what the hell was up with those fuckers and this is when i absolutely lost my mind, your honour

A and C you say?? in crowley colours???? framed like this?????? localised entirely within your kitchen???

anyway long story short they're two books from an Agatha Christie Crime Collection set (24 volumes, three stories per volume) and guess whats on the mfing front covers I'm-

(its a rant for another post but when paired with this other set of initials spotted in s2 i want to scream actually)

ANYWAY back to the books, through an absolutely unhinged comparison of the formatting of gold text blobs i reckon the two we have here are:

(on top) The Pale Horse; The Big Four, The Secret Adversary

(on bottom) 4:50 From Paddington, Lord Edgeware Dies, Murder in Mesopotamia

(I'm fairly confident but if anyone has a better image to confirm/correct this pls do)

now here is where I'll need a bunch of help from some Christie-heads out there bc I haven't read any of these and I've only seen the tv adaptation of one of them, so i dont know for sure if these are like A Clue, or A Cool Thing, or if I've just fully brainrotted myself into a fun lil corner here? wa-hoo

but here's some initial stuff that jumped out at me after skimming the basics:

(some of) the titles: Pale Horse/Big Four - death's horse ofc, the four horsemen mayb? the them+adam?? ; Mesopotamia is a very biblical choice bbz ; 4:50 From Paddington- azi likes trains i guess? idk that one's tenuous lmao ; honestly no idea with the other two but Secret Adversary feels a tad ominous

iirc Big Four just has kind of an unusual history, it was initially twelve short stories that she later compiled into one, and it was published fairly soon after christie's mysterious disappearance/reappearance

in Big Four, poirot fakes his death at one point and doesnt even let hastings in on it and I'm hoping sure its totally irrelevant to the ineffable bois

part of the Pale Horse story is a group of assassins that basically try to pass off all their murders as being actually caused by like ✨satanic powers✨ which is interesting

christie knew a fUCkton about poisonings thats why she wrote so many into her work and, while i don't believe the poison coffee theory myself, it sure is an interesting link with how cyanide is associated with almond smell/flavour and that metatron chooses almond syrup in particular

(ALSO random side note that is mostly meaningless but I've worked in a good few uk coffee shops and have never worked anywhere that stocks almond syrup; almond milk yes, hazelnut syrup yes, but never almond syrup...? prob just the places i worked though lmao)

EDIT forgotten point: I've seen some speculation that the bently's plate reading "CURTAIN" could be a reference to poirot's last story, along side that alternate scene of crowley ordering the sherry for "miss marple", its just one too many agatha christie references for my melted brain to handle and I'm SUS

so this is where i run out of idea steam and hand it over to you lot because i have no clue what this could mean, if it even means anything other than a cool set feature

is there something here actually or am i yelling into the void just for fun?

OKAY. Continuining from this.

New Au that originates from Royal AU -> Isekai Royal AU

more rambles/lore/fic/explanation/art below (compiled it into one post so i dont spam yall's tl with my bs LMAO:

[wARNING: big sad, MCD(Raven), angst, death, violence, injuries]

In the ending of Royal AU, King!Price married another Queen and had a kid, Royal Guard!Raven got promoted to Commander, they go their separate ways for the sake of the nation

The kid, aka the Princess, has everything Price had, the exact blue eyes and all except she was blonde like her mother.

She was rather fond of Raven, and always sneaked out to find Commander Raven despite Raven warning her not to.

Raven's still a softie though, so in the end, she ended up growing soft for her.

Until it all falls apart.

First it was a scream, and before she could register it she was bolting towards the voice.

It was the lil girl's scream.

She regretted not wearing armour that day, but somehow she managed to escape with the Princess in hand, stumbling down to the deeper part of the woods that was safe for now.

"Shhh...don't cry Princess....you're safe now"

Raven coos the trembling young Princess, her poor face pale from the shock and bruises on her delicate skin.

Lost count of how many arrows were on her back, she knew it was only a matter of time before it will take its full effect.

Poison arrows, the fletching bearing a black greenish gradient.

It was an assassination attempt on the young Princess.

"R-Raven...Raven I'm scared...."

"It's okay, it's okay...don't be scared....help's on their way..."

"Papa...I want Papa!!"

"......"

She sighs quietly, it stings, not from the arrows itself, but...from the weight of it all.

"I want your papa too....Princess"

She mumbled in a dazed, blood loss and her dizziness making it hard for her to decipher if she was thinking, or talking out loud, one thing she is certain was she can no longer hunched forward as she slumps to the ground.

"R-Raven? Raven!"

"....listen to me well...lil one..."

"...your papa....the Emperor...your majesty...is a great man..."

"he was a man who loved with all his heart...."

"your papa loves unconditionally....and the one thing he loves most in the world...is you"

More sniffles were heard from the lil girl, who were shaking worse than before, Raven reaches her hand out in an attempt to calm the young lady, only to smear some of her blood onto her pretty pink dress, she frowns at that...but...she was tired...

So so tired...but she kept going.

"....papa may be scary sometimes...and he scolds you...or punish you...but it's for your own good"

"....papa is also very kind...when he needs to...he bought you the tiara you really wanted...remember, Princess?"

"y-yes...I love it..."

"that's right...and you are a pretty girl...pretty eyes like your papa...yeah?"

Raven smiles, the pain subsiding into a blur

"and you have the brightest smile...don't cry...Princess...because a smile suits you better...please?"

She knows this is all wrong, that the poor princess will be traumatized forever because of this.

But the Princess was obedient, and smiles through the snort and tears.

Raven chuckles quietly, nodding weakly.

She'll be alright.

"...treasure your papa...Princess..."

Her eyes closed once, twice...and it was getting harder and harder to open them, or to hear anything else, not even the sound of horses gallop that was getting closer and closer

"...do it for me..."

And then she was swallowed by darkness

In her last moment, she watched a couple sitting side by side, she knew this scene.

The last time they were allowed to be with each other.

"Maybe in another life..." "I'll look for you in every single one of those lifetime" "yeah...you'd that for me, birdie?" "mhm..." "just remember...I love owls" "pretty vague if you ask me..." "you'll know it when you see me" "....that I can guarantee..."

The scene before her morphs into nothingness when she tried to reach out for it, a blinding light forces her vision to go white as she struggles to move.

When she does open her eyes again, she was heaving, sweating and....grabbing the air?

She blinks a few time, this doesn't feel like dying, wait-

She quickly sat up, and realise she was in a room, dimly lit but there were light at the balcony, she dash towards it, opening the windows only to be greeted with something she wouldn't expect.

She recognise this place...the ocean, the city, the flags, the castle- this castle-

How the hell did she end up in the Umbralis Citadel? [bear with me here i literally cannot come up with names of places LOL]

She quickly strolls back to her room, stopping before a mirror as she glanced at her reflection.

A Princess.

She has reincarnated as the Veil Princess.

anywyas yeah thats sort of the fic SO the premise for the first art itself is moreso Princess Raven who managed to finally see King!Price after some careful planning and such, took the opportunity and meet him.

At first she gaze from afar, because she got emotional seeing him after...after everything they went through (she didn't even get to say good bye to him before she died).

Her attire choices was deliberate, although she was already rocking the modest, simple look since as the Veil Princess, no one really pay attention to her (she's the youngest in the royal family).

So she finally approaches him...AND THE STORY BEGINS-

When I read the way you described Megumi in the daughter au as the "reluctant babysitter", the first thing that came to me is that: "Damn, Shiki has a walking zoo as a babysitter".

Then came the images of young Megumi and baby Shiki just staring at each other, one in total confusion about what to do with a kid this small, and the other in curiosity with her big blue (cursed) eyes. Then somehow it end up with Divine Dogs being summoned as a playmate for the little girl. (Maybe with some other small Shikigami as well)

On another note, there is something that I have been wondering about: Do you have an estimated number chapters for each arcs before you write, like "This arcs will have X number of chapters, this one Y,..." I have always been curious about how fanfic writers such as yourself planned out your stories.

Also, any chance of all these snippets and aus being posted on AO3 in the, hopefully, near future? I love Zenith and all its glorious Au, but navigating these tags can be a pain in the ass some times. :v

Megumi would be a reluctant babysitter, but still an effective one! I think the Divine Dogs would be very effective in keeping young children preoccupied and out of trouble. The rabbits seem like they would make good playmates too, but at that point in time I don't think they would've been part of his repertoire. Maybe we add some toads for variety haha...

Or, maybe this kickstarts Megumi into working harder to add more shikigami to his roster! Such as: Shiki asks for new shikigami playmates and Megumi tells her he doesn't have any others, and she just kind of nods silently in understanding and doesn't say anything.

The next day Megumi walks through the door a little charred, a little smoking, but with a brand new mini-Nue sitting on his arm.

I don't have an exact number of estimated chapters before I start writing. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I always have a general idea of the overarching plot and major events before I start writing. Minor details get filled in as I go. Like, for a minor arc I'll tell myself, 'A, B, and C are going to happen,' and that's what I work with. Except sometimes D and E come along for the ride, too, so there's also that...

I do not see myself posting AU snippets on AO3 anytime in the near future, apologies! Like you mentioned, they're rather disorganized and not even written chronologically. Many of them are also responses to Tumblr asks, which only adds to the confusing nature of it all. (For those who are curious, all snippets can be found under the '#Writing' tag.) I have an index of sorts compiled on Ko-fi, but it's still rather disorganized without context. I don't want to post this mess onto AO3 since I think it could very easily get even more confusing.

... I figure that if people are looking through the Tumblr tags, then at least they probably know what they're looking for haha. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Currently I have no plans of posting these snippets on AO3, unless they get developed as proper stories in their own right. Which would probably be a ways into the future, if it ever happens.

Ash's guide to getting shit done (aka how I survive. Kinda).

Disclaimer: This is just stuff that (mostly) works for me. I can't make any promises that your type of brain worms are the same as my brain worms. They may be a totally different species.

Music. I find that I am very music motivated, and I can kind of hack my brain into doing certain things by listening to a Specific type of music every time I do them. For example, every time I want to clean I listen to 50s music and my brain goes 'Ah yes, you should be mopping the floor around about now.' It's very effective when I actually remember to do it.

Clothes. In much the same vein as music, wearing outside clothes tells my brain it's time to be Alert. Again, it only works when I remember to do it.

Starting step. This one is a bit dubious because the beginning is the hard bit, but with some activities (like showering) I'll do an easy action (getting naked in the bathroom) and my brain will kick into the correct mode for that activity. This works maybe... 40% of the time, but that's still better than nothing.

Doing something else. Occasionally, I simply Can't Do The Activity but I'll have enough spoons to at least do something. In that case, I'll just trick my brain into being productive by incentivising it with organising stuff. So I may not be able to study but I will be able to compile resources for every topic I need to research based on the syllabus. It's not what I needed to do, but it will make my life easier later on.

Half ass it. The perfectionist in me hates doing this, but doing something badly is still better than not doing it at all. I've reframed this as 'doing the bare minimum is still doing it' and this method helps me with things like basic hygiene, cleaning, studying, eating ect... When I have next to zero spoons. An example would be that a sink bath isn't as effective as a shower, but at least I'll feel a bit cleaner.

Have someone watch me Do The Thing. This doesn't work if they tell me to do the thing because then my brain goes "Well, now I'm not doing it," and everything is difficult, but if I voluntarily have someone in the room then it makes it easier for me to do tasks. Sometimes. Unless I was already in the zone. Then my brain says no again. It's kind of a hit or miss but it may work for you.

Turn on the Big Light. I actually don't recommend this one, because I don't recommend that other people voluntarily cause themselves distress in order to get things done, but it is a last resort for me. Turning on the big light makes me feel a bit like a rabbit being hunted for sport. Namely, stressed and alert. This helps me get tasks done because the quicker I do them, the quicker I can turn the light off. On one hand, it is effective. On the other hand, it's horrible. 10/10, would not recommend.

Disguise it as something fun and automatic. Confession: at this point the only exercise I get is late night bedroom dancing and skipping (to music) with a skipping rope I made out of an old bathroom robe sash and a shoelace. I'll listen to danceable music and the urge will be there, so I fulfil it and get some Movement™ in at the same time. It works because it's something I'd do anyway, but it's also beneficial.

If you're the type of person who can just do things easily without having to have a hundred different strategies to wrangle your brain into submission then you're probably a bit confused right now. To that I say, don't worry about it!!

Go get a snack with the convenient cues your body sends you when you need to eat, and get started on that minor task that you won't spend all week in a state of procrastination paralysis and terror about.

If you're like me and everything is difficult (except sometimes the things that everyone else finds difficult—either that or except some super niche skill that is not regarded as useful by society) then I'm proud of you for making it this long and I hope you found at least one of these useful. alsooo list of things that have been making rounds inside my head for a while now:

1. ear ice pick

2. nostril spinning saw rod

3. the phrase "I'll stop stabbing when you stop screaming" bc it's kinda funny and I think I saw it on some Riddler fanart ??

4. the phrase "They'll keep finding your body for three months. You'll be alive for at least two of them." bc it's cool even if it sounds kinda edgy ykwim... it's from a post on here, I have it on my blag but I don't wanna look for it rn

5. the phrase "Mary pays in blood" which just sorta manifested into my brain one day & IDK if I saw it somewhere and then forgot WHERE I saw it but ya. And it's really kinda annoying me cause like who is Mary and what is she paying for and why does it have to be in blood.... Google is not telling me.

6. Off of that 👆 I had an idea of "Mary" (not 2 be confused w/ the Mary I just posted abt lol) being a girl who lives in a single very white room with a bed, a huge TV on the wall and the remote for said TV. The gist of it is that you start each "story" by flipping thru the channels and selecting one, but you are never the "true" protagonist in any of them. I was kinda stressing about having to forcefully come up w/ more than one short story for a single game cause my brain is Not That Big, but then I thought it'd be nice to just like. Take an existing side chara from an "existing" story (AKA one that I didn't force) and then do it from their POV if that makes senseeee.... just as a compilation/anthology thing maybe

7. the possum girl one that's a lot more about exploration and mystery-solving ETC but I think I already posted abt that one and the only thing I've added to it/expanded on is the girl's parents bc they are really funny n cute to me. & Also there's a guy with a flower shop now. & his sister owns a fashion boutique. And I wanna put a butcher shop in there as well cause when I go to the one near my house I rly like looking at the different signs they have around n stuff (those ones like "if you want a credit go to the bank‼️")

8. that one comic I made and then left half-finished (LOL) about my two loser guy OCs being literally physically incapable of getting bitches (gender neutral) and being absolutely COWARDLY about it was so so funny to me I keep thinking about them and about what other Situations I can toss em in

9. throat plumbing

10. one person getting stitched (like, physically and also in strange ways/places) to another except said other person is very much not into it. to say the least. kinda like human centipede but if it was two people and one of them was the one who made it happen.

11. open-wound stabbing which I think is pretty self explanatory but I started thinking about it more recently when I saw one of those videos where they've got like a bunch of balloons inside each other and then pop em by layers. which is not really similar to what I have in mind but it's what caused it.

12. kinda related to that 👆: the way blood pools inside wounds like I love splatter but there is something SO nice about seeing it come out slowly ykwim...

Robaire being a scary leader for 16 minutes straight

Involving a talk show host asking insensitive/stupid/uncomfortable questions and Robaire responding with sarcastic and backhanded comments

"Soooo, I dont mean to pryyy, but i am DYING to know when and especially WHO you guys want to hook up with, and when👀" "What is your definition of prying? No, im curious! Genuinely!" Robaire responds still wearing his signature smile.

Of course, theres the award shows and making sure the group behaves during speeches

He has a LOOK look that gets any of the members back into shape

"Guys, now's not the time."

All he has to do is grip one of the gangs shoulders and they know they need to tone it down

His frustrated face. There's a frown thats not heavy, but its there, and hes razer focused on whats making him mad. Heavy eye contact with the offender. Lots of foot bouncing, lots of deep breaths

Communication king. Confrontation does not scare him at all

"You and I both know that's not an appropriate question."

Tae Young wreaking havoc on 4*town

He uses his cuteness as a weapon alllll the time. Underestimated for sure, hes a menace

*at talking panel* "Z is actually the one who reassured me about me deserving the leader role" The crowd screams and Z is practically yanking his hoodie strings. "I'm here because of you, Z. Thank you c:" Z hides behind a stuffed teddy bear given to him as the crowd gushes

I'm doing a gamedev course, paid for by Her Majesty's Government, because I guess they think more game developers is more taxes or something. I'll take it lol. Am I going to be come a game developer? Unclear as yet! I'll be as surprised as you. But I need 'money' to 'eat food', I understand, and this is looking like the best bet.

A lot of it is about one big project that I'll be working on over the next ~14 weeks, so I thought maybe people would be interested in what I'm trying to make. Which is THRUST//DOLL, a game about darting and grappling your posthuman shell through hundreds of missiles. You can see some visual inspirations here...

For reasons best known to Past Bryn (ok, it's to learn the tech), I'm trying to do this entire project within Unity's new(ish) Data Oriented Technology Stack (DOTS), which gives you the magic of an Entity Component System, meaning you can shove data in and out of the CPU cache at speeds previously unknown to humanity. DOTS is a paradigm that's supposed to replace the old object-oriented world of GameObjects with something sleek and modern and compiled (using 'Burst', we're still in C# sadly).

So the core idea of ECS is that, instead of storing data on class instances, you put that data in tightly packed arrays of component strcts indexed by the same 'entities', and you iterate over these rapidly with 'systems'. If you've heard of e.g. the Rust game engine Bevy, it's the same idea, just... awkwardly jammed into Unity. (Many other engines are following the same sort of idea).

But... it's had a really rocky history, the API has only just stablised after most of a decade, and half the DOTS-related information you'll find on the internet is plain out of date, and the rest is either a little inscrutable or long video tutorials.

The first task I've been set by the powers that be at "Mastered" is to make a 'configurator'. The assessment task they had me do to get into the course was also a configurator, I guess someone there really likes configuring things. Anyway, for me that's going to be the character creation screen of THRUST//DOLL, where you swap out bits of your body to get new abilities.

So, have the first of some devlogs where I describe the design decisions I've been making so far. At first all I wanted to do was create a system where there are UI elements that you can click on with a little toggleable circle in the UI that is attached to them. Unity has like three ways of doing everything you can think of, so that involved a lot of digging. Eventually I settled on doing it a fourth way using none of Unity's built-in UI systems, using shader magic.

So I made a noodly looking thing for drawing circles:

Why shadergraph and not the cool hardcore HLSL text editor way? Because sigh DOTS has a bunch of weird boilerplate I didn't have the energy to figure out. 'Because DOTS has a bunch of weird boilerplate' is gonna be the recurring thing in this story I suspect. Anyway Unity ShaderGraph is almost the same as Blender Material Nodes, except you need to know a little bit about rasterisation. Luckily I made a rasteriser in 2017, so I have a decent understanding of this stuff.

A billboard shader it turns out is hilariously simple. What you basically want to do is have a polygon that matches the rotation of the camera. However, in a shadergraph, Unity will apply the full MVP matrix no matter what. So the solution is that you do is you take the View matrix, which is the camera's transformation, and invert it, and apply that before the MVP matrix with 0 in the w component to make sure any translation still gets applied. As long as the model isn't rotated at all, it all cancels out.

Anyway I figured out how to do overrides with DOTS components, which is neat, so I can feed in numbers into my shader per entity. The next step was to figure out how to create entities and components to display these little circles... which is the subject of devlog #2.

This one's basically a DOTS cheat sheet where I boil down the main things you'd want to know how to do. If you ever felt like trying out Unity DOTS, I really, really hope it will save you some of the misery I've had. There are so many weird gotchas (you fool, you saved a temporary negative entity index!) but the good part is that it really forces you to learn what's going on in this thing.

That is a good part, right?

Anyway here's the milestone I reached today: cubes you can click on at like 200FPS. It will revolutionise gaming, I think.

Yeah so that looks like shit, but the code is cool, and now the code's there I can make something that looks cool instead of bad!

uh...... that's a really good question. uhhhhhhhh.

i want you to know i sat here for like two full minutes trying to come up with a megatron i dislike for more reasons than "just kind of boring" but I can't do it. I have no strong feelings about megatrons except when I like them. I guess maybe G1 but like I do like Sunbow megatron, he is stupid and i like that in a man. Could be IDW19 but again- he is unhinged and an asshole and i like that, the bit where he jumps out of a ??giant sky elevator i don't remember with Optimus is fucking cool as hell. and also i can't really speak on IDW19 because I didn't finish reading it. Maybe TFP but he's fun, he's just not IDW05 megatron and I respect that more now than when I watched it the first time because it was "like 05 but on tv" (it was not like 05 but on tv). Machinima Megatron is one of like three good things to come out of Machinima and I unironically adore him. I

He's very much a product of the show he's in, so he's not a terribly sophisticated or capable character, but my god he is so fucking funny, I love watching him exist. Every day he does some dumb shit to provide conflict for a kids cartoon and its basically the stupidest plan you've ever heard of, but it is never ever not entertaining.

you can really tell im tired im just stream of consciousnessing this shit. Uh. So the biggest problem I have with bayverse Megatron is that he is boring. As such I barely remember anything about him like, as a character. His animation is fucking gorgeous though. I really like how alien he looks. I also think it was genuinely really interesting to make him the primary caregiver to a bunch of baby hatchling Transformers and I thought that was an interesting direction to take him in as the whole like, Leader Of The Decepticons, though honestly his arc in the entire series was fascinating from a legacy-character point of view because he was just, like, broadly not that big a deal except to the people on Earth if I remember right. except then he helped the Fallen bring Cybertron over and then Optimus split it in half. so i guess now he is.

Also I liked when he got his face ripped off by Optimus. I'm a simple man, I love robogore, and if nothing else the bayverse fight scene compilations were very pretty haha

Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: The kind of big dumb pop hit that feels all the sweeter after a half-decade of sophisticated, fashionable house music from Peggy Gou. Somehow, I feel like this is her true form -- a hook-focused trickster spirit hitting all the dopamine release points as quickly as possible. Everything else -- all the long-form odyssey-like qualities of her earlier work, all the couture and style and glamor -- fades away. In pop music -- and "Nanana" is excellent pop music -- all that is secondary to the sheer sugar-rush joy on display here. [9]

Crystal Leww: Peggy Gou has made something like five songs in like five years, and yet somehow her status in dance music is now enormous -- she regularly sells out massive crowds in at least three continents despite incredible price tags (her last NYC show was on a Wednesday and tickets were one hundred and forty eight American dollars each). Yet, if you've ever seen a video of Peggy Gou DJing, it's all cameras up, with no one seemingly doing any actual dancing except maybe Peggy herself. Her whole schtick is like the culmination of the blurring of lines between DJ and influencer -- it's seemingly just as important to be seen at a Peggy Gou show as it is to actually enjoy a Peggy Gou show. All this being said, all five or so of Peggy's songs sound so incredibly warm and timeless despite the fact that they are perfectly engineered to trend chase after all. "(It Goes Like) Nanana" hops on the trance and eurodance revival that's been percolating the last two years, with an unmissable ATB sample and yet unlike what it's ripping -- corny, goofy, silly -- it's engineered to be so cool, conjuring images of exclusive parties on yachts and perfect bob haircuts that cost $1,000 a pop. "It Goes Like (Nanana)" works because it gives anyone a chance to feel like they could be a part of that exclusivity - it's a song meant to played in rooms with wood paneling and on expensive soundsystems while twirling around in circles with your best friends. [7]

Nortey Dowuona: She used to be good, what the freak happened? Are we all so desperate to run back to 1985 just cause Studio Ghibli was founded that year? They're not shuttered yet! [5]

Wayne Weizhen Zhang: Peggy Gou never changes, nor does she need to. [7]

Claire Biddles: The Peggy Gou: The Complete Singles compilation that comes out in 2034 is going to be the greatest dance pop album of all time. [8]

Edward Okulicz: I didn't have "Peggy Gou gets an actual hit single" on my 2023 bingo card, but if you'd told me that it was going to happen last year with a song that steals as much from K-Klass as it does from ATB, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. The whole song's as slick as the little "9PM" guitar line and if it's too soft to be a real floor filler, that seems like a decision rather than a flaw. [8]

Aaron Bergstrom: Answering the question, "How do you get from 'I Go' to 'featuring Lenny Kravitz" in one step?" [6]

David Moore: I love the small touches in this, especially the chintzy pitch-bend synth guitar, even though this song's massive success after "I Go" kind of feels like when a major director finally gets an Oscar for a merely competent movie after getting snubbed for their masterpiece. I'll take it, though. [7]

Peter Ryan: In the right light a bit of a supercut of Annie's Endless Vacation tracks. I can't complain; Gou's track swells in sync with the lyric's devolution into a heady non-verbal state. She gets it -- don't think, just move. [9]

Brad Shoup: Now this is a Eurodance text: verb choices just a couple degrees away from expected, similar clauses chained together, a big arrow pointing at the universal hook. If ATB could clone his hit i don't see why Gou can't. I dunno if this is a one-off trance dalliance but if not: try "The Lonely One" next. [7]

Taylor Alatorre: A dance song which performs its intended function ably and effectively, and which is committed to becoming a throwback club hit even as it is afraid to commit to representing anything beyond that. Those little bent synth phrases after the chorus sound cool. [6]

Will Adams: A panoply of musical choices designed to hit every pleasure point in my brain -- mindless, wordless hook; house piano chords; organ bass; synthetic guitar straight from an ATB classic -- that its slightness doesn't really matter. [7]

Vikram Joseph: This deserves to be heard under a high sun by a glittering sea so much that, listening to it for the first time right now, I almost want to hold myself back from it so that I can save it for the summer of '24. But to do so would be futile, because there's nothing delayed about the gratification that "(It Goes Like) Nanana" provides. It's so deeply kinetic, decorated with lashings of house piano, sweet pulses of synth and a fleeting quarter-century echo of the motif from "9 PM (Till I Come)"; it might have a big, dumb club-goading chorus but it's also smart enough to under-stay its welcome. Best just to give yourself entirely to it -- I mean, it's summer somewhere. [8]

I kinda started a project where I re-write like. 99.99% of Sonic Forces and I realized for this to work right I'm gonna need a lot of input from a lot of other people for this.

It's gonna be a huge project, that I kinda already acknowledged/realized when I started formatting it out on Obsidian. It's just gonna be in written form since I'm not confident in my art whatsoever. My current estimate for this is maybe a year or two until I'm maybe fully done? I'm not concerned about what platform(s) it'll be available on since I purposefully don't tag my posts 80% of the time.

I'm very storyline centered, so I want to know what people liked/disliked about it, the characters, and the pacing. What do you think could've been done better? What do you think is pretty important? This will help me shape out my drafts for the characters and story I want to tell better. I personally have only played SA2 (Not to completion) and I might be able to get Sonic Frontiers this weekend! So yes, that does mean I've never played Sonic Frontiers. My friend has though; And I've watched a no commentary compilation of the game.

I personally noticed a big trend when it comes to Sonic games, where they basically reset the progress the characters have made in previous games to the point where they're no longer able to be self-reliant. That's another reason why I want other people to have input in this project of mine! (It also keeps me open to new ideas!)

Honestly, I couldn't tell what Sonic Forces' goal was, storyline-wise. It was a headache for me to watch because of all of the time jumping back and forth. I can find/create ways to justify characters like Shadow and Silver being in this game, I'm just upset there wasn't one given to the viewers in the actual game.

I don't want to take too much from the IDW comics/other media. The main exception to this that I've made is using NebrocRock's renders of The Jackal Squad to help give Infinite just a bit more story to work with. (And me some characters to work with. For Infinite.)

Some ideas on locations! We only really see Green Hill and the Death Egg, with only a mention of Seaside Hill. (And that. City or whatever. I don't know its name) If Eggman took over the whole world, what would that consist of?

And on character development/inclusion.

There is literally no character development in this except for the Avatar. Speaking of, I still want to include them and the other two game renders they have! (Which are bird and cat. I've named then Rotary and Javelin! Might change though.) Avatar will stay as the "MC" with the other two being sides. I'm not gonna do some y/n stuff though, because they actually have stuff going on.

We only really see the Chaotix Squad, Team Dark.... AND SILVER? FOR SOME REASON??

Anyways, if there's characters you'd want included in something like this, say who and why! (And characters you'd make changes to)

I'll be tagging posts in relation to this project with Sonic Frontiers Remixed! (Since that's what I've been calling it in my docs.) I'm not sure what else to add to this post, so I'll be ending it here. If you need more examples of what kind of information I'm trying to gather, feel free to ask! And if you already have some ideas you'd like to share, please do!

I honestly really do think Sonic Frontiers is worthy of this project. Its plot is vague enough for me to fuck around with it, while also having key points in the story.

Smells like old books. I decided that smoking didn't bother me much today. Maybe it's the smoke from cigarettes in the wrong hands that makes me frown. Perhaps the air needed to utter some precious words could be polluted. Maybe… After I lost my pen... I thought I couldn't write without it, but I do. If it's called writing, of course. There are dozens of unfinished books in front of me, and my record player, which I listen to only two of them among dozens of records. "Top Gun, Take my breath away": The last track on the first face. I'll have to get up and turn it around soon. I know. But as if it would never stop, as if I would reach eternity with "Top Gun". Even the thought of it makes me smirk. I think it's like a sip of red wine that you can't swallow: reaching eternity on your tongue, getting more and more bitter, getting more and more wine... Then I think of Aysel, who is dying. The dark exit of the chocolate I bought without looking out of the box… Even though I was disappointed, I didn't throw my hand back into the box. Maybe it has something to do with the compilation of Hollywood romantic songs swirling next to me. "When I'm in love," I say, "maybe I'm not bothered by cigarettes." “Love…” I repeat, grinning. The 3 most worn letters in the alphabet... "I fell in love today, for example." I say contemptuously to myself. Not knowing what I despise. Myself, or the one-syllable word that spilled from my lips and I was offended when it came into contact with the air? "And I got hit faster than I've been in a long time." I say. Even though I've never seen his face... Without even hearing his voice... His back was turned to me. He was sitting on the bench, against the buildings. Cigarette in one hand, he stared. "Long time," I said, "haven't seen him looking at the chimneys. Still ..."I'm staring out the window. It's snowing. I think the silhouette I can see behind the farthest snow cloud belongs to a plaza. Plaza… I've been looking for this word for two minutes in my memory, which I haven't had a chance to tinker with these days. It doesn't sound very pompous, but now that I've found it and pulled it out... It's like I borrowed the word. As if it wasn't mine and all I had to do was be careful not to spill anything on it. "Wine stains are hard to remove, but I'm used to coffee stains." I say. Surely they will understand. Invisible accident… It happens sometimes on snowy days. I watch the falling snow with the pigeons. Do I go first or doves? Maybe we'll go together, who knows... After all, there isn't a lot of pigeons where I go. There is snow, too. Even if it's gray, it's snowing. It is gray gray, albeit a different gray. At least it was once. But the plazas... They don't seem that big from where I look now. Snow used to clear everything, though. What happened? It's the first snow falling in how many years, it doesn't hold up either. Is it because we changed the color of the walls? Nile green is the color of summer, but I think that old books bought in the winter of sixty-nine should also be a bit of a souvenir. You know, the ones lined up next to those lace curtains. They smell sweet. I'm making coffee for myself, but I'm not drinking it yet, it's right in front of me. It's very light color. As usual, "I put too little coffee." I say. The color of her hair... You know, the tiny golden beams coming in through the window in the evening, the arms of the snow-collecting sun touching your hair... That's the color. Light coffee. It smelled of lavender as he poured it into the cup. I understand why later. You know, that dried lavender was crumbled without putting it in milk or coffee… Lavenders from her grandmother's bedside… Julie London played in the background, without exception. Maybe he was just mumbling. I can't remember now. But of course, this smell must have stayed from there.I've been waiting for the snow for years. Now, what I was waiting for has come, as if I had already left the last sip of my tea at the bottom of the glass and got up... As if the first snowflake had already fallen into the cold glass and the new customer impatiently touched the waiter to clear the table. Maybe I got up earlier. I went to find an ashtray to leave my first butt. Maybe I'm just cold. The record stops slowly, the needle settles into place with a graceful movement. The text on it is now easy to read. I do not see. I am in the land of sitting against chimneys, of the winter sun falling on brown hair, of lavender fields, of coffee stains, of smelly old books, of pigeons, of tobacco, and of thin snow.

could you tell me more about how NFTs are screwing over people in SEA specifically? i tried looking it up but everything i found was talking about SEA jumping on the crypto "bandwagon" and general positive press no matter what i searched. any sources you know of are fine too. you can ignore me if you don't feel like getting into it, no pressure.

Okay! Thank you for your patience! I had a lot going on and it took longer than I wanted to compile some research. Anyways. More under the cut.

I literally started looking into this the day before ep 7 dropped because I was watching the now pretty internet famous video about Crypto/NFTs that can be found here. If you don't know a ton about crypto then I recommend watching this first. Yeah it's two hours long, but it also spends a lot of time going into depth about why, how, and who. In short: rich people wanna get richer and are preying on people with disposable income. Wow. Shocker.

But that's not what you asked about. You asked about how this affects SEA. Disclaimer: I don't have firsthand experience with this. I don't live in Asia and am not from there. I am mostly just compiling data I've been collecting while researching NFTs for a writing project. And also I really love researching.

Okay. Let's look at Thailand specifically since that's what I was referencing in the post you responded to. I'm going to link two articles from the Financial Times. These are great for a quick look at the current conversation about economy and crypto and covid.

In short: The Thai economy is in dire straits. COVID killed the tourism industry and left a giant gap in the GDP. People are dying, but as we've seen globally, no one really cares except when it affects the economy. So. Naturally this is an environment ripe for taking advantage of. There's a LOT of foreign investment in crypto markets in SEA which all looks really sketch, especially because while doing research I couldn't really find any use for crypto outside of play-to-earn games which I'll talk about later. So far it just sounds like empty promises and investors taking advantage of cheap real estate and labor in habitually exploited countries.

Now, maybe you're thinking investing is good so why is this bad? That's because there's no evidence that crypto helps build infrastructure or has any impact on the lives of normal people. It currently functions more like unregulated stocks than actual currency.You can't use it to buy groceries or send your kids to school. You can’t use it to buy things for daily use. How is any of this going to actually benefit the people of Thailand?

Well. The government had an idea. The GDP has a massive hole where tourism used to be - what if we plug it up with taxes? Normal idea. The Thai government had to make a decision: do we raise VAT tax on imported goods which can range from electronics to groceries, or do we tax this cryptocrap? The answer was obvious. They announce a 15% tax on crypto transactions. Cue HUGE backlash. The tax has now been canceled. That money still needs to come from somewhere though, so I'm guessing in the coming weeks, the VAT tax will raise, effectively taxing the poor so the cryptocretins can continue to profit off their inane system while people starve.

But why did the gov't listen to these shits? because they have lots of money and keep insisting that they can jumpstart the economy. please laugh with me as this asswipe promises a 600% GDP growth if only the government will invest in crypto! There's no substantial evidence to back up any of this. it's bold claims with no value. kinda like crypto.

There is a huge push by cryptocreeps to gain an appearance of validity and to do that they seek government support and investment from banking institutions, all of whom say this is a bad idea.

Now, let’s also talk about class and colonialism and its role in this (which is somehow missing from a lot of discussions about crypto)

One of the big pros of creepto tech is play-to-earn gaming. you play the crypto game, earn in-game money that can be converted to nft or crypto, and you can then convert that into real money. that's money that can like, feed families, keep lights on, send kids to school, but also give you a better life. allow you to buy things for fun and not be worrying all the time. to quote this totally not condescending gamemaker: “This levels the playing field for people to earn a good supplemental income in developing regions, such as Southeast Asia, without leaving their region to be a migrant worker in a more developed country.”

Wow, exploiting workers to pump your crypto is philanthropy now I guess.

There's also the whole thing with 'digital landlords' which is so painful. essentially games are so prohibitively expensive to start that people are 'scholarshiped' in. a wealthy person lends them the tokens they need in exchange for a cut of the profit. cool. my favorite part of real life is now in the metaverse. can you put my student loan debt there too?

Now, it's easy for people to say things like 'can't they get other jobs' or 'millions of others don't do this so why are they?' Because the economy is shit. There's a pandemic. People are dying at alarming rates. And this is a job that may seem relatively safe in the long run. if you have a computer and internet access at home, you don't have to risk covid. if your choices are playing a game at a computer room or working a dangerous manual labor job, is it really a question there?

Except, you know, none of these game devs understand markets and it's volatile and dangerous and could combust at any moment. Game economies aren't meant to function like a real economy because it makes the game boring and inaccessible. Axie, the most common in my research, has already had serious issues with this.

NFTs also give artists in Thailand access to a higher level of market than ever before, mostly because a lot of the people investing in crypto have a lot of disposable income and not a lot of well. sense. you've seen nfts. they are ugly as shit. but if you are an artist in a developing nation, those who are usually excluded from the high prestige of art markets because, like most things, it's very classist, white, and colonial, this is honestly a chance to change the game. and despite all of the REALLY bad reasons NOT to make nfts, that one is… kinda valid. crypto is fake, but the platform it stands to give artists who cosign to it isn't. you can hate cryptoshit and nfts and also recognize that it has some ability to help people.

kind of like how tawi is helping yok's mom earn a living.

"So Darx took over the school to force Y/n into marriage with him," Riddle summarized.

"What?!" Everyone gasped.

"What so scary about Darx?" Jack asked.

"Darx is currently the most powerful wizard, and he didn't get that title though fair or clean means," Vil explained.

"And as of late he's been looking for a suitable bride," Lilia added suddenly, " I'm familiar with him cause at first he's been taking many fae brides, some I've known personally. Then they disappear suddenly, and Darx simply moves on to the next."

"S-so were dealing with a possible murder," Kalim stuttered in fear.

"Well nobody has ever shown up, and there is no evidence that he killed them. So all those sad souls are still considered missing," Azul clarified.

"We have to rescue her!" Inir and Ortho shouted.

"Ummm," Everyone backed away.

"What?" Inir gasped.

"Why? Please help us!" Ortho begged.

"Look we all like Y/n and we don't want anything bad to happen to her, but we also don't want to be the ones who die pissing off Darx," Ace said.

"while Idia always avoids me yet he only asks for me when he's troubled, that's too easy," Vil added.

" It's your "brother"'s problem. Solve it on your own," Leona sighed.

Inir began to tear up and cry out loud.

"Don't worry Inir, If they won't help then I'll do something," Ortho said to his crying friend.

"Hey, hey. You can't do anything just by yourself," Kalim gasped.

"Stimulating patterns to take back Idia Shroud and Y/n Ebonywood. Requirements: Least time of operation...the simulation has been completed successfully. We will now operate the plan. Charging magic energy. Aiming for Night Raven College's main school grounds," Ortho said as he readied his attack, "Magic beam firing in 5... 4... 3... 2..."

" PLEASE STOOOOOP!" Crowley shouted, "Do you want to make our legendary school turn into ruins!? Magic beams are prohibited!

"Since everybody won't help us, I had to do it," Ortho glared.

" ...everyone. Is it okay to decline that easily? If you abandon Shroud and Y/n just like this..," Crowley scolded.

"What should I say? It'll be pointless even if we fought back..," Ace sighed.

"Ah! There they are! Night Raven College's students!" Crowley said pretending to be a news reporter.

" Wh-what is it so suddenly," Ace gasped.

"I'm a reporter from TBC News! You're a student from Night Raven College, right!?" Crowley continued.

" Eh? Y-Yeah, I am but... wait, close, too close! Headmaster, you're too close!" Ace stuttered

"Is it true that it's possessed by ghosts? Please answer the question! It'll be featured by tomorrow morning, so let me take some pictures too. Click-click!" Crowley acted.

"Ugh, the flash is too bright!" Ace groaned.

"I heard a student was abducted? And you abandoned her?"

"I-I have different dorms from the kidnapped person! I don't know anything!" Ace tried to argue.

"You left him because you weren't close to him? I can't believe you! I need to compile a special feature... Shocking! The dark side of the prestigious school!"

" Whoa, I said stop it! Don't point the camera here!" Ace shouted.

"Click click click! Click-click! Click!"

"STOP IT! Ace shouted again.

"And so if Y/n doesn't come back, you'll be pressed by the mass and be interviewed no matter morning or noon. I don't want to see my students getting tired like that, or Shroud getting even more stress on top of his possible trauma. Since I'm kind," Crowley warned.

" If you don't cooperate, I'll hack the news channel and put it on the news. I'll write in big marks "The Student Who Abandoned Their Friend" and air it!" Ortho threatened.

"I think the one who would be troubled the most if there's a scandal on the school is you, the school's responsible person, the headmaster," Riddle stated.

"But, it would trouble me. My mother would cry if she saw that news," Deuce sighed.

" Gossips will affect my image as an entertainer. I don't want it," Vil stated.

" It seems that we have to help then," Lilia smiled, " I can't have things like...Malleus, the next king of the Valley of Thorns couldn't save a human to be spread around, and he does hold Y/n in a special place in his heart."

" Yes. As you said, Lilia-sama!!" Sebek shouted.

"Then, everyone! Let's save Shroud and Y/n from Darx together!" Crowley cheered, "Ah〜〜〜〜 I'm happy that I only have nice students〜〜〜."

" Let's think of a way to save my brother and Y/n together!" Ortho cheered.

"First of all, why don't we talk to Darx," Kalim suggested.

" What a magnificent thought, you are Golden. Though I don't think he would let go of a beautiful maiden like Y/n so easily. If I were in his shoes I certainly wouldn't," Rook smiled.

" In the end, we just have to get him back by force, don't you think?" Leona stated.

"We all ended up here because we can't do that. Did you forget?" Vil said.

"Yes. We can't "defeat" the ghosts in a face to face battle. They're troublesome as an opponent. Let's avoid a battle with them." Crowley said.

"You know from what I've heard Darx is a narcissistic wizard and happily excepts challenges from anyone," Riddle stated.

"True, a Fae friend of mine challenged Darx to save his lover, but he disappeared along with her," Lilia added.

"Maybe Sam has something useful in his shop," Inir suggested.

So it was off to the school shop and Mr.Sam. Who surprisingly had had something that could maybe help with Darx. A pure white crystal that can undo any spell of a specific caster.

"That was something I did have, but those darn ghosts came by and raided my shop and getting away with lots of my stuff," Sam sighed.

"What they took the crystal too?!" Crowley gasped.

"Yep, but I'll give you advice instead. Darx specializes in summoning and capture Magic," Sam explained, " That is probably why Y/n and Shroud hasn't come back to us yet."

"So I guess the only option is to beat him at a match in hopes to win both student's freedom," Crowley sighed, " Alright those I call, step forward, you will be the first to challenge group to challenge Darx,"

" Trey Clover, Jack Howl, Jade Leech, Floyd Leech, Kingscholar, Schoenheit, and Zigvolt," Crowley called.

"I was so troubled getting chased by ghosts, so this is where you all evacuated," Trey smiled.

" I'm glad we could gather," Jade greeted.

"Headmaster. What are you going to do with we seven?" Vil asked.

"You are all strong with your unique magic, so maybe you can outfox Darx, or maybe you could all challenge him together," Crowley suggested.

"W-what why can't I go? I feel like I'm abandoning my duties as a dorm leader if I let Trey, the vice dorm leader to challenge this mission," Riddle asked.

"What sad you can't be Y/n's knight in shining warmer," Ace teased.

"N-No that not it at all," Riddle denied.

"We don't know what Darx is capable of, and Riddle you heavily rely on your unique magic and we cannot afford to lose you so soon," Crowley explained.

"I'll have the CCTV's footage be connected so we can watch you from the sidelines," Ortho smiled.

"Vil will surely win not only is he beautiful, but he is also strong too. Don't you think so, Epel-Kun?" Rook smiled.

"Eh! I-I guess," Epel stuttered.

(Cafetaria — Wedding Ceremony)

"*chuckle* What a beautiful day today, and not so powerful without this pendant protecting you," Darx smiled as he grabbed Y/n's chin.

"Keep this out of her reach," Drax ordered a troll servent.

Y/n simply glared at the man, he had placed a magic seal on to keep her in place and to prevent her from using her magic. Y/n dressed to the nines in a beautiful wedding dress that Drax's troll servants put her in.

As Y/n stood in her frozen spot she noticed that all the short troll servants looked at her with sorrow and pity as they stood next to her. Drax had seven troll servants and an army of ghosts. Drax was still ordering his ghost and monster servants around trying to get the ceremony ready. Y/n sighed as she looked over at the front row seating area to see Idia struggling at his bindings that tied him to his seat. A similar seal was cast on him too.

"SOMEONE SAVE US—-!!!" Idia cried out.

" I suddenly got surrounded by ghosts, got roped and tied up... and now I have to watch a friend get forced into marrying some brute?" Idia said in fear, " A brute that might kill her soon."

"Not fish, how about beef served at the wedding?" Drax said as a troll servant stepped up with her tray of food.

Drax chuckled as he took a fork full of beef all the while the strolls stood nervously and uncomfortable in front of him. Drax growled in disappointment that the food tasted cheap and knocked the plated out of the hands of the troll and dropping food onto his servant.

"Soon I'll have a new wife, and hopefully you won't disappoint me," Drax said simply as he looked over to Y/n, who only glared at him.

Idia wanted to hurl at that sentence as side glared at his kidnapper. Suddenly a ghost rushed over to Darx with some urgent news. Apparently, some NRC students came to challenge him for "His bride's hand". Drax laughed as he ordered the ghosts to let them in.

"You hear that Y/n, Were going to be saved," Idia smiled in relief at his friend.

Soon the seven students quickly barged through the door demanding to challenge Darx in magical combat.

"So you all think you can take what is soon to be mine," Darx laughed.

"The marriage hasn't happened yet, so Y/n doesn't belong to anyone," Leona growled.

"And a rude brute like you doesn't deserve a lady like Y/n," Jack added.

"Plus forcing women into marriage is a disgusting trait," Vil glared.

"So you're her friends I'm assuming," Darx said simply in a bored tone, " Look dear all your friends have come to watch our marriage.

The boys looked up the alter to see a beautifully dressed Y/n staring at them with a relieved smile on her face at the sight of them. The boys could feel their hearts flutter in their chests at the sight of here. Oh, and there was Idia in the front row.

"Darx we challenge you to a Magic duel, If we win You will set our friends free," Trey said in a serious tone.

"hahaha, I can't wait to squeeze the lights out of him," Floyd laughed.

"Challenge excepted," Darx smirked.
