Let’s talk about emotions for a bit.⠀ ⠀ Growing up, I thought showing emotions or being vulnerable was weak.⠀ ⠀ ❌Don’t let anybody see you be emotional. ⠀ ⠀ ❌You’re not allowed to let people know how you feel because it makes you weak.⠀ ⠀ ❌People will take advantage of that. ⠀ ⠀ 😯It was a learned behavior. I struggled a lot with being my true self because I always felt I had to be “hard” and emotionless.⠀ ⠀ 😟Shoot, I didn’t even want to cry in front of anyone, even my husband!⠀ ⠀ I was not a very vulnerable person. As I got closer to God, I allowed myself to be vulnerable and show and feel my emotions. ⠀ ⠀ 🤣Show joy through tears, love through hugs and vulnerability. 🥰🥰🥰⠀ ⠀ I wasn’t me. ⠀ ⠀ ❌Even when I was trying to lose weight, I was afraid of showing you my struggles and my progress because then I would be seen as weak, as a failure. ⠀ ⠀ ✅Emotions aren’t this horrible thing that means you’re weak. ⠀ ✅Emotions allow you to truly feel joy and let people in through vulnerability.⠀ ⠀ But don’t let your emotions run you. How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off Oh 😯 hey, it’s Ruthie. Chronic yo-yo dieter with no idea about macros and calories. Let’s try this new diet. It promises fast results, that’s exactly what I want. Oh shit I lost 10lbs! This is awesome but I’m getting tired of not being able to eat carbs. Actually, I’m hungrier than ever, grumpier and have no energy. Okay, I’ll just have one carb. Shit, I can’t stop myself. Few weeks later those 10lbs are back on. What the hell? What am I doing wrong? Nothing works. Let me try something new: The Petite Advantage Diet. Yes! This sounds like my type of diet. No too restrictive, weight loss didn’t last. Fast forward to now: I stopped playing the guessing game with my fat loss. What was I missing? I started learning about macros and calories and started understanding how they work and how they benefit the body. Seriously, if you don’t know what macros are and how much to eat based on your level of activity, this is where you want to start. 1. Download an app like myfitnesspal and track all the food you eat loosely for a week - how much are you actually eating? 2. Find tdee calculator online and calculate your calories based on your level of activity 3. Compare it to your tracking - are you over or under eating or is it just right? 4. Learn what your maintenance calories are. 5. Track until you don’t have to, and when it comes time for fat loss, create a deficit. 6. After you’ve lost the fat gradually increase your calories. 7. Learn about your body and never have to track again. But it starts with learning about your eating habits, macros, and calories. This is freedom, a little work for a big reward. But most of you won’t do this because it just takes “too much work.” Think about this: you’re basically saying my body and happiness doesn’t deserve any work. Anything new will always take time in the beginning but as you learn and progress. It becomes second nature. It took me 6 months to drop 25 lbs. ⠀ ⠀ Hey, it’s going to take as long as it takes. ⠀ ⠀ Don’t be so hard on yourself. My problem used to be I had zero patience.⠀ ⠀ I knew that cutting carbs would help drop water weight fast so I always went that route and lost weight and gained it all back. (i.e keto)⠀ ⠀ It wasn’t until I fell in love with the journey, the process, that I easily dropped 25lbs without cutting out my favorite junk foods.⠀ ⠀ But I yo-yo dieted for so many years that I was done with that.⠀ ⠀ The only reason I yo-yo dieted is because I deprived myself. I restricted carbs. ⠀ ⠀ Sure, you can lose 20lbs in 12 wks if you’re on it 100%. (Tracking your macros, hitting your protein intake, working out)⠀ ⠀ But for me it took me 6 months to lose 25lbs because I wanted to live my life. I didn’t let dieting consume my life.⠀ ⠀ I had beer, pizza, tequila, you name it.⠀ ⠀ I still do. I have a new goal tho. I learned about myself and how to keep track of my progress and how to adjust so this time I want to lose body fat and get super lean and I’m a little more strict but you better believe that if I can fit cookies or some shots I will lol. ⠀ ⠀ I guess my whole point is, don’t let dieting consume your life.
