Hey guys? Guys? Hey, how about we stop reducing Miguel to a ball of anger (and/or sexiness) and we recognise him as an individual with a terrible past, lots of guilt for his mistakes, but also Spiderman?
Spiderman is community oriented (he built a goddamn society!! For others like him to enjoy and find a belonging and help in!!), always putting himself on the path of danger and sparing other younger spiders from harm (see him telling Gwen to back off with Vulture), collaborative, and while not particularly humorous he’s incredibly patient.
He lashes out when nothing else is working, and he’s trying (in his distorted beliefs, sure) to keep things from glitching into nothingness, because that’s what he believes is best. He is an antagonist but he is not a villain.
He says it himself: “I don’t always like what I have to do.”
He is not his anger.
He is so patient with Hobie stealing his stuff and instigating. He is so patient with Peter’s rambling and brushing off and defending and Mayday’s free roaming. He is so patient with Gwen despite her disobeying direct orders. He is so patient with Miles, trying to explain things even if the teen is not supposed to be there, or meet anyone of the society (until time is right?). Aside from the desk throw, which I chalk up to frustration, he is so patient. His patience runs out not even when Miles starts running, it’s when he keeps running and refusing to listen.
He doesn’t lash out at Peter for not stalling Miles when he had the occasion to, he doesn’t yell at anybody for letting the teen slip away, doesn’t yell at Spiderbyte, who is arguably the reason why Miles’ plan went through.
If you’d be honest with yourselves, you’d realise that he’s way more patient and caring than most people would be in his situation.
He lets Gwen come along despite everything because he understand he can’t leave a kid homeless like that, and he even tells Miles when his canon event is gonna happen, maybe for closure, maybe to give him a time frame of reference for his “stay” in HQ, that I don’t know. He probably expected Miles to be more collaborative, so he gave the answers he was looking for.
Let’s not forget that his grief is still pretty new, because it’s only been a year and some months between itsv and atsv, and Peter was there when “Miguel’s” dimension collapsed, so it means it’s very very fresh, only months old. It’s normal to be biased and honestly a little fucked up from an event like that. He carries the weight of an universe’s death on his shoulders, and yet he tries everything he can before resorting to anger and violence. He tries warning, he tries blacklisting, he tries surveilling, he tries talking.
He thinks the sacrifice is necessary, and if he was objectively right in his beliefs, which I think he’s not, he’d be the one in the right.
I know it’s a joke for most, but it’s getting old honestly. I want to see Miguel’s softer sides be portrayed way way more, not only in x readers (especially because they either ooc him or make him overly sexual) and in shippy situations, but with his friends and colleagues too. Please.
He is tired and stressed and drowning in guilt, he is not an angry monster ready to lash out at anything and anyone.
He is also a huge goofy nerd with no spidey-sense nor sense of self preservation, and he lets himself be tossed around by his little holographic friend even in difficult situations.
C’mon. We can do better than whatever is happening now in the majority of this fandom.

lead balloon (the tumblr post that saved me)
if this comic resonated with you, it would mean the world to me if you donated to this palestinian family's escape fund.
--
no creative notes because this isn't that kind of comic.
I know I don’t owe any of you anything but I still felt compelled to write about my long term absence. And I feel far enough away from the dangerous spot I was in to be able to make this comic. I have a therapist now, and she agreed that making this could be a very cathartic gesture, and the start of properly leaving these thoughts behind me. I am still, at seemingly random times, blindsided by fleeting desires to kill myself. They’re always passing urges, but it’s disarming, and uncomfortable. I worry sometimes that my brain’s spent so long thinking only about suicide that it’s forgotten how to think about anything else. Like, now that I've opened that door for myself, I'll never be able to fully shut it again. But I’m trying my best to encourage my mind in other directions. We'll see how that goes.
I am still donating all proceeds from my store to Palestinian causes. So far, I've donated over $15K, not including donations coming from my own pocket or the fundraising streams which jointly raised around $10K. In the time since I made my initial post about where this money would be going, the focus has shifted from aid organisations to directly donating to escape funds.
If you'd like to do the same, you can look at Operation Olive Branch, which hosts hundreds of Palestinian escape funds or donate to Safebow, which has helped facilitate the safe crossing and securing of important medical procedures for over 150 at-risk palestinians since the beginning of the genocide.

Seein' too many Twitter refugees asking if they'll get in trouble for saying "kill yourself" to people and while no, you're not gonna get nuked from orbit, that is maybe something you just shouldn't be doing in general perhaps?? Maybe telling people to kill themselves is bad actually?? Some of y'all are wild, why is the first thing you can think to ask on a new platform if you can send one of the worst kinds of harassment to people?? Grow tf up and learn how to use the block button. It'll do wonders for your mood, trust me.

anyway in the past week the irish government has voted down two motions which would have condemned the genocide in gaza.
i need everyone to stop lionising ireland as if its not also a european government with strong ties to the us. american weapons pass through shannon airport and will continue to, because yesterday the motion to stop that was voted down 83 to 50.
other governments have done much more but somehow people still act as though ireland is the ultimate palestinian ally and exempt from criticism on its handling of palestine bc it was once colonised, even though that past experience clearly isnt being taken into account by the irish government when creating policy.
i live here i know there’s a lot of public support and sympathy for palestine, which is great, but that isnt reflected in government, and i think ireland should be treated like other countries whose governments have done nothing.

i'm sure this has already been said but something-something, Zooble being canonically genderqueer/questioning/Not-Cis and their design being made up of random parts that disconnect and fall apart feels like a nice nod to not just experiencing an identity crisis but gender dysphoria in particular
edit: Zooble canonically goes by any pronouns :3

Hey, you know it's okay to have different headcanons than others in the fandom, right?
It's okay to change canon in a way that you like.
If you like to stick to canon that's fine, too!
If you think this guy is pan, hell yeah he is, go right ahead.
If you think the same guy is straight because he's only dated girls, perfect!
They're non binary in your fanfics because their voice actor is? Cool!
She's trans? AND lesbian?! Awesome!
It's your interpretation of it, it's your headcanons, go absolutely nuts. Not everyone will agree but at least you're fandom-ing in a way that you enjoy.
