2: What scene did you first put down?: the first scene i showed you! specifically, i started here:

"I'm sorry," you say, eyes still fixed on the now clean spot on the floor instead of Stanley's face. Your hands are clasped achingly tight behind your back. "I shouldn't have been counting on you to show up and fix everything, to save me like you always did when we were kids. It was wrong of me to place all my hopes and expectations on you like that, and I'm sorry."

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?: (way more than one line here but i'm v happy with how these few paragraphs came out)

Your fingertips graze over the wall, as if you can feel the power radiating off the paint, unlimited knowledge leaking from every ancient word written upon the stone.

It's breathtaking.

There's trepidation there, too, as you softly mouth the words to yourself, practicing sounding them out before you speak them aloud.

Not all of them are part of the ritual. There are others that you remember from the first time you discovered the cave, words of warning about danger sure to come if the ritual is performed. You pointedly avoid looking at them this time around. You know there's risk involved, but you're out of options and you need answers. It's this or lose your grant, give up, go home, spend the rest of your days scraping barnacles off the saltwater taffy stands.

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?: hmmmm i don't know actually! part of me wants to say ford's pleas while he's having a breakdown bc i always enjoy writing that (sweet sweet projection), but i don't wanna share that bit here bc i feel like taking it out of context removes a lot of the emotion around it

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?: this fic is going to explore how bill fits the role of a cult leader, and ford the role of cult victim. so in a broad sense, i want this fic to make people aware that cults are real things that anyone can be drawn into, and the trauma they cause is something to be taken seriously

hey yall your local thot here finished watching someone else play Sally Face and im a sucker for runes so who wants to read about me trying to tell the significance of the runes on Sal’s guitar with only my notes on the Elder Futhark?

mostly because at least some of the ones there i immediately recognized as some of the Elder Futhark and they do have meanings so maybe they’d be significant to the story?

In the last Season of Demon Ruler 101, you got forcefully adopted by the demon king.

Now you live with Diavolo and Barbatos at his castle.

After you trained for a good week to become a fitting heir you now got chosen to be the human exchange student in the devildom.

What new challenges will await you now?

This chapter will serve as an introduction/ recap. So you don't have to re/read all the previous 14 chapters. *Even when I personally think you should, because I love this series.*

My first week in the devildom was a ride to be sure.

Not only did I find out about demons and magic but I also somehow became a potential heir to the throne. Thanks to the demon King's decision to adopt me.

I lay on my bed on my day off. Thinking about all of this craziness.

Surely I only made it so far thanks to Diavolo and his, well our loyal butler Barbatos. I admit that I was scared at first but now it's oddly normal.

It's probably due to them welcoming me with open arms. I have never felt this loved and special in my entire life.

Thinking back on my training from Barbatos was exhausting but it also felt strangely rewarding. I'm also pretty sure that I gained weight from all the delicious cake. A true curse.

I smile when I think about last night when I made my pact with Diavolo. I almost still can feel the wave of comforting heat that I felt at that moment.

Then I remember the gift from the demon brothers. Last night I was too tired and just passed out without opening it.

I stand slowly up and walk over to my desk.

There is a huge box on it. It's pretty impressive. I stare at it in awe. The demon brothers,went all out it seems.

I open it carefully, somehow expecting it to explode. It's not even wrapped so it's not difficult to open.

The first thing I take out is a stack of books, they are all looking pretty interesting. I skim over a few of the descriptions and from what I can tell they are all covering different things, from romance to murder mysteries. I don't need to guess and know this is from Satan.

I also don't have to guess who gave me a seemingly complete collection of obscure-looking anime. I wonder what devildom anime is like. Well, I'm gonna find out with this one. I also see a multiplayer game. This is surely something I could try with Diavolo and Barbatos. Even when it's hard to imagine Barbatos playing games.

Then I see a cute basket filled with beauty products, along with a note to contact Asmo if I got questions about them. This is pretty thoughtful of him.

Next, I see a plush doll. It looks kind of like a cat demon thing. It's kind of cute in a strange way. It's also very soft so I decide to put it on my bed. I can't even start to imagine who got me this but it's sweet regardless.

Then I see a small phone accessory with a fitting case for my DDD. I put it on right away.

Next, I take out a pillow, well this one is also pretty obvious. It's a very nice pillow so I place it next to my new plushy. Somehow my bed looks much cuter now but I like it that way.

The last item is a record. I can guess it's from Lucifer.

The gifts are all very nice and I will use them all.

I write all of the brothers a thank you. Most reply right away.

Levi asks me to tell him when I watched the series and he also gushes about the Manga I gifted him.

Satan tells me the same thing and adds that I'm welcome to borrow books from him.

I find out the plush doll is from Beel, it's his favorite character. It's something I didn't expect from him but very sweet.

Seeing all of these gifts makes me hopeful for my future in the Devildom.

WV: can town is, in fact, located on earth c, as you guessed. it's currently one of the only two active cities here. most of our buildings are designed to externally resemble cans. we've recently opened out first hospital, and we have a few other places opened, like the bar. we're currently focusing on construction, mainly.

7: Where did the title come from?: it comes from a 6-part suite by the band Yes called Fly From Here! (specifically from the We Can Fly segment of it) the full lyric it's taken from is "look back we'll dry the tears / for those once held so nearly" :') i listened to this album a lot during a really rough year, and it still holds a special place in my heart ❤️

11: What do you like best about this fic?: the fact that i actually finished it after two and a half years lmao serious answer: probably the way i wrote ford's thoughts/emotions. i love getting to write characters in vulnerable moments, trying to hold it together but ultimately failing ;o;

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?: i don't usually listen to anything while writing bc i tend to find it more distracting than anything agdjsjfk as for songs to listen to while reading, i'd say the one the title's from! the fic wasn't like, inspired by it or anything so idk if it really adds much to the reading experience, it's just a pretty song
