Cidolfus Telamon "Cid" x reader
It happened again. I was playing the wonderful game of Final Fantasy XVI and thought "Why not writing something about my all time favourite. And yes. Cid, the first one, is my all time favourite. I mean why not? And if all that doesn't make any sense blame it on the alcohol, okay? And yeah. I'm writing this while being drunk. Now let's go!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I was currently sitting in Martha's rest and drank relaxed a bit. I was also kind of drunk but I still knew what I did. (I had that a lot and currently as well. Now you guys can argue if I broke the law or not. Well it depends in which country I live in but still you can. I give you my permission.) Then suddenly a man caught my gaze. He had a beard and rather dark hair. I would dare to say that he was attractive. At least to me he was. He also looked at me and after around 5 minutes he walked towards me.
"Is the seat next to you taken?", he asked in his deep voice. I felt goosebumps spreading on my body and I smiled up at him. "No. It's not. If you like you can sit down next to me", I smiled up at him. He smirked and sat down next to me a drink in his right hand. We were silent for a few minutes but he started a conversation rather quickly. The typical stuff. What my name was, how old I was and much more of that stuff. I replied and asked about him. That way I learned that his name was Cidolfus Telamon but he would prefer it if I call him just Cid. So I did it.
We get to know each other and started to like each other as well. We had some funtime in the bed and were rather close to each other.
Currently I laid in his bed and drew pattern on his chest with my finger. He caressed my shoulder and went through my hair. I loved every second and minute with him. Hell I loved him. And I knew that he loved me. That was all I need to know. I didn't need to know that he was a dominus. I didn't need to know that he had a hide away for bearers and dominus. All I needed to know was that he loves me and that I love him. And that was the only thing I knew. Until an unknown man and woman went to my home and told me everything about him.
Here is the masterlist:
Masterlist
Here are the requests:
Requests
I know. I know. It's short like very short but I wanted to write something and well... my drunk brain is not that creative. But still. I hope it was enough to make some of you happy. I added no spoilers I hope and well... if you have any request or so tell me. It's also rather a scenario than a oneshot. Or both? I don't know. Well guys I will return to playing Final Fantasy XVI and I whish you guys a good night, day or something of that sort. I hope that you'll soon send some request but until then or another boredom of mine... See you guys later!

Spoiler-Free FFXVI review
Going to keep it under a Read More because it’s pretty long...
FFXVI is a really ambitious game, and from beginning to end I was invested in the plot and characters -- but it's missing just a couple of things that would really make it great. It’s a beautiful game, no doubt about it, with an amazing score and environments, rich lore and deep worldbuilding, fun gameplay, and some really compelling characters. When it excels, it really excels. But where it falters, I really felt it. I’ve got some recency bias here, working for and against the game (since I only beat it yesterday), so I’m not really sure how my thoughts will change over time. I’ve definitely changed my opinions of many FF games after revisiting them a second time, so this one could benefit from the same.
I’m going to start with the characters and plot, because those are the most important parts of a FF game to me, but I’ll also delve into the worldbuilding, gameplay, and music of the game.
Characters
With as many cutscenes as this game has, the characters really find their time to shine. It’s primarily Clive’s story, and over the course of the game we really see him change. His development is a bit cyclical in some ways, but there are definitely events that shape him and who he becomes over the story, and he really feels different from every other FF protagonist. I like him well enough – I think he’s among some of the better FF protagonists for sure. Clive shows such a wide range of emotions and his VA did a stellar job of capturing them.
My favorite character in this game is a spoiler, so I’m not going to go into that in this review.
One character I really wanted to like more was Jill. She’s got all the makings of a compelling character and a compelling story, but a lot of the time it just felt like she was there. The other day @faerantstory and I were discussing how they’d heard that every female character in this story fell under the umbrella of “Pure,” “Sexy,” or “Evil,” and at the time, I had just finished a sequence of the story where Jill most certainly veered away from “Pure,” but after that she fell right back into it. And then she was just an ever-present support to Clive who did little else. I liked the part of the story that focused on her a lot, but it felt so brief and they could have done a LOT more with her past that they didn’t do – she just felt so underutilized. To be honest, she feels a lot like Tifa 2.0, for better or for worse.
Benedikta and Hugo were both extremely disappointing. I expected more from them. Without going into spoilers that is all I am going to say. Barnabas too, to a lesser extent – they went in a direction with him that I didn’t really expect and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. Dion, however, was pretty great, and Joshua’s story at the beginning of the game made for a really compelling start. Continuing with the umbrellas that female characters fall under, Benedikta fell under both “Evil” and “Sexy” and not much else.
The villains in general (including the main villain) didn’t really do it for me. The main villain didn’t really do anything new that past FF villains had already done before, and better. Their motivations were interesting and followed the overall theme of the story, and there were some twists, but as a character they kind of fell flat. One of the other villains even felt cartoonishly evil.
Honestly, where this game REALLY shines with its characters is primarily in the supporting cast. This genuinely might be one of my favorite parts of the game. You meet a TON of characters over the course of this game (some might even say too many) and I found some of them more compelling than the characters who got more screentime. The world feels so alive with all of their stories, many of which play out over both the main scenario and also through side quests. Many of these characters live in the Hideaway, the main hub of the game, but just as many appear in the various towns and settlements you visit. They all felt like they had a purpose, and many of them had a surprising amount of depth. I definitely encourage doing all of the side quests and taking the time to talk to them after many of the story beats. Also, none of these really fall under a bland Pure, Evil, Sexy umbrella! That was great! But maybe that’s why they’re side characters. :/
The Plot
It’s hard to really go into it without spoilers, but overall I really liked the plot itself and the structure of it really worked to help tell the story they needed to tell. They had clearly defined goals and the characters never felt like they were simply reacting to everything happening around them. I’ve seen some criticism for the “MMO style storytelling” this game has, and that makes sense coming from the team who made XIV, but if you like the story progression in XIV I feel pretty confident in saying you’d like it in XVI. It feels really similar and follows the same pattern of go to new area -> help people with their problems -> gain the trust of the populace. It worked for me. At times there are parts that may feel like “filler” (I’ve always hated this term because people tend to use it wrong), but all of it helps further the characters or worldbuilding. My biggest problem with it is that at times it felt predictable.
At times things felt really bleak, but it never got too bleak for me, and overall the story has a hopeful message so that really helped.
Worldbuilding
Stellar. The Active Time Lore system is a huge help to understanding and conveying the lore and politics of this game – I can’t stress enough how much I loved that system and the dedicated characters in the Hideaway who discuss these things and tell you more about them. The lore in this world is rich and it feels so alive, as I mentioned earlier with the side characters, who are perhaps the primary reason for it. Everything and everywhere really has such a great atmosphere. The marketing stressed that things would change a lot over the game’s time skips, but I didn’t really feel it to be honest – things changed more after big plot events regardless of how much time passed.
Three of the six nations of this story felt extremely underutilized, though, which was a huge shame. Two of those in particular were being really built up but due to story events nothing really happened.
I don’t know how to describe this criticism, and this is more personal preference than anything, but XVI didn’t really feel like it offered anything “new” or original to the overall series to make it feel like it has its own identity distinct from the others. Every FF game offers some new summon that doesn’t appear in other games, maybe a new marketable/cute/iconic monster, a unique airship or something, a unique race, etc. I don’t know if that makes sense, but every concept introduced in XVI felt like a reference to a previous game in the series (even, to some extent, the main villain, whose very name is a name used before). Because of that it almost feels like it doesn’t stand on its own, in a way.
Gameplay
Battles were a ton of fun once I got the hang of it. Loved how smooth it felt, loved the gameplay changes for certain boss battles. I played with one of the accessories to help with evasion – with it, at times the game felt a little too easy, but that’s not a criticism from me. I like easy. I knew if I took it off I’d have died a lot more often. The battle system itself was the best part of the gameplay.
Customization could have been better – sometimes I felt like I had a lot of options for different Eikon abilities to equip and not a lot of space to equip them, leaving some abilities completely unused despite how I wanted to equip them. Weapons and armor were pretty much always straight upgrades that increased your stats and did nothing else. Accessories had the potential to switch things up a bit and offer some variety, but with only three accessory slots you couldn’t really do much (especially if you have one of the accessibility options equipped, like I did). Character progression was mostly achieved through story events, because leveling up is just a straight stat increase, which I can understand is very boring for some people.
I loved that this game was not open world, and instead used four separate and very large maps. Of those four, one felt considerably smaller than the others though. Open world games tend to be really overwhelming for me, and too easy to get lost, so I typically don’t care for the exploration aspect of a lot of those games. But with these four separate areas, I did actually want to explore them – the problem is, aside from finding beautiful vistas or the locations of certain hunt marks, there was not a whole lot to do. Any treasures to find were mostly just filled with useless crafting materials or gil. Not the highest priority for me, but I can see why people would count the exploration against this game. Speaking of gil, once I got past the early game I almost never had to spend any, so it just kept building up and felt pointless.
My biggest gameplay criticism is the enemy variety. All of the enemies in all of the maps were the same, just in different colors. Every map had crabs, or scorpions, or antelopes, or bandits, or chocobos, or goblins, or spiders, or plant monsters, or a couple different species of dragon, maybe an adamantoise or coeurl. Again, there was nothing new – no fantastical creature that the FF series never introduced before, and many of the series staples (like tonberries and cactuars) were missing altogether. It got particularly egregious when they went as far as to double up on some bosses.
Music
Fantastic, as expected of Soken. Not much to say there. I like his work better overall in XIV, but that’s unfair with the sheer amount of songs XIV has. He was allowed to experiment a bit more in XIV, but in XVI he took some opportunities to use different genres here and there.
Overall - 7/10
I can honestly say I really liked it overall – it’s a beautiful game with really rich characters and lore, and where it excels it really excels. I’m not a big fan of the way it ended but I think that is mostly due to personal preference. There were several unanswered questions and I don’t know if they have plans to go into DLC or even a sequel, and I don’t think there’s enough for that anyway – it ended pretty neatly. I will let this game sit with me and I’ll read up on some discussions from other people to see if my thoughts will change, but I don’t know if I’ll end up liking it more or less.
Thanks for reading this really long review!! I will write up a more spoilery one in a couple of days.

ending of ff16 discussion below, pls do not click if you wanna avoid spoilers <3
I think FFXVI has a lot of potential, but it does fall quite short of the mark in some places. I do think the places where it excels far surpasses that, but maybe I'm able to turn a blind eye way easier than other's.
First and foremost, Jill Warrick is a potentially really good character, who unfortunately isn't given the same amount of love as other side characters in the game. Even characters like Gav and Byron were given more, despite Byron being introduced in the second half of the game, and Gav wasn't even a party main-stay.
Tumblr media
Giving her some more moments to show off her prowess as Shiva's Dominant could've gone a long way. More independence from the Crystals' Curse, so to speak. I understand that the idea is Jill is on her last legs regarding the curse, but I really think they should've brushed that over, for the sake of her character.
Secondly, the arc with Barnabas was undercooked and rushed. Execution was weak compared to a similar scenario in FFXIV, where the main antagonist of Stormblood has the sole purpose of being the main character's rival. If the first fight against Barnabas was player-controlled and took place far sooner in the story, I'd be more inclined to buy into it.
Tumblr media
Not only that, but the Barnabas arc is very isolated, compared to a lot of the other arcs in the game, most notably Kupka. Barnabas should've been presented a little earlier, or at least, his arc should've been quite a bit longer if it was going to take up the last quarter of the game.
I'm somewhat alright with Barnabas being the segway into Ultima as the main antagonist, but at the same time, it feels rather cheap to not given Barnabas his own full-fledged motivations and character arc, like we saw with Benedikta and Kupka. It's a minor writing thing I didn't personally enjoy, but at the same time, it was fun watching him snap out of his Ultima trance and become a beast at the very end of his fight.
The final segment of the game, I feel could've been made stronger if Ultima was a bit more discovered as a threat. Yeah, he was the god we had to kill, but we knew so little about him until the final 10% of the game. And at that point, he had finally become an acting force. I feel that's too late into the game for something like that to be happening, but maybe that's just me again.
Tumblr media
The ending overall? I feel it could've used some more oversight. Joshua's death was expected, though I'm sad to see it was simply because of the Ultima shard. I don't think that writing his death via that shard was a good move, solely because it didn't feel like him keeping that shard in check had done anything at all, considering how much of an acting force Ultima had been anyways.
I understand the ending was also open-ended regarding Clive's ultimate (haha) fate, but I do wish there had been some more finality. Especially because of the red star Metia fading at the end, and Jill and Torgal crying as if he had definitely died. Me personally, it'd be nice to see Clive just walking back to the Hideaway, his arm turned to stone because of his overuse of magic, but still alive in spite of his fate. I feel THAT would've definitely made the ending better, just seeing that guarantee that he'd truly said "fuck you" to his destiny.
I also understand that the ending is open-ended for that exact reason, so I can guess what happens after without giving me something definitive. But I still would've appreciated if they'd just said if he died or not, outright. I don't enjoy ambiguity that much when the most likely thing is despair, 'cause then I just get my hopes up, just to get them crushed again.
Another small thing I disliked was the pacing started to get wonky at times, versus others where it was taken nice and slow. The segments in the game where you sorta had a dungeon to traverse before a big event were nice, to build up hype towards the big thing. These started to appear very seldomly, and it started to make the game feel like we were moving a mile a minute.
I feel the definitive proof that this worked is in the fight to Titan. And not just Titan as an eikon, but half-primed Hugo Kupka. I feel that was done SO fucking well and I really would've loved to see it again with Barnabas. Having the siege of Rosaria and Clive and Hugo affirming their hatred for each other was sick, especially because you just KNEW there was an eikon fighting waiting for you at the end of the arc, if Sleipnir hadn't stepped in.
Tumblr media
Then having the follow-up at Drake's Fang, another lil' dungeon where you finally get to Kupka and he's just going insane, so fucking well done and I loved that rivalry so much.
Compare that entire arc to the end of the game, where you go through a dungeon in Waloed essentially, and the ending just ends up being a dramatic lore dump with a sorta final-boss fight. Meanwhile, the actual final boss doesn't have any pre-emptive dungeon, it's just a cutscene fight before the real fight starts.
Not only that, but chucking in about 14 sidequests right before that final boss and the game trying to pad out this rushed ending really made me realise how unfinalized this section of the game had been. Was it terrible? Not at all, but it wasn't the same quality as the rest of the game had been. Which is a damn shame, 'cause everything pre-Barnabas was god-tier and it's what I want to remember this game for the most.
For the positive side of things, I am very glad that I played this game, because I think I'm gonna feel the lasting impact it had on me for years, even if the ending didn't hit the way I wanted.
Tumblr media
Clive Rosfield still stands out to me as one of the best RPG protagonists I've seen in a VERY long time. He's a strong man, unwittingly cruel in his actions, but he owns them, accepts them, and betters himself for his crimes. He is unafraid to cry and shed tears over his anguish, but he wears his sins on his sleeves and fights in spite of his destiny. The first section with him truly accepting his status as the Infernal Eikon, as Ifrit, was some of the best visual story-telling I've ever seen. The presentation was phenomenal, the music was heavenly, and Ben Starr did a phenomenal job as Clive. I sincerely hope Clive ends up setting a standard for protagonists in the future, because I genuinely do believe he's one of the best.
The character designs in this game were all great and enjoyable, and everyone was written in an amazing way. I think follow-up for Clive is definitely tied between Joshua Rosfield and Dion Lesage. I think Joshua has a similar issue to Jill, where he just wasn't used enough in the latter half of the story, but he was sorta written into the ending inherently because of his status as the Phoenix, and Clive's brother. Which is a shame that Jill didn't have that same impact.
Tumblr media
Either way, those two were amazing characters that I loved ever since their first appearances. I have a particularly soft spot for Joshua because I can remember the prologue of the game so vividly, with Joshua desperately trying to fight off Ifrit while "Away" is blasting in the background. The choreography of the fight is great, the music is phenomenal, and you really wanna root for Joshua. It makes his appearance later in the game feel like he truly survived devastation and he's working hard to make sure no one suffers a similar fate.
Dion is fantastic, not only as some very nice LGBT representation, but also because he's just really fucking badass? The tragedy of having to witness his own kingdom become a slave to Ultima's wills, all because his father is being manipulated. And he, as a soldier, is being told to follow orders. It's saddening, but you can absolutely understand why he feels trapped. Which makes the moment of his father's murder, the accidental spear that was meant for the child, all the worse to witness. You truly understand why he was caught in his despair and enraged to the point of priming into Bahamut.
I have a lot of thoughts that I might say more on later, but as a final note, the gameplay was phenomenal. The music was god-tier. The eikon fights especially. Titan and Bahamut are easily some of the best stand-outs the game has to offer, but the fights against Typhoon, Garuda, Infernal Ifrit, and even Ultima's final form are incredibly fun. You really do feel like a massive ravaging beast that has a god's power at your hands. It's great, and I genuinely hope more RPGs take pages out of this book. Seriously, the only reason I didn't like the Odin fight was because it lacked this battle system, THAT'S how good it is.

Spoilers for ffxvi!!!!!
Tbh the scene where dion sent terrence after medicine girl(which dion knew he won't come back, and is ultimately a goodbye)
Would've hit so much stronger in my opinion if terrence have gone back for one last kiss, tearfully, after he walked away.
Cause they both knew
They knew they wont see each other
If i was terrence i know i would.
I understand and respect dion's decision and i think it was the honorable thing to do,
After what happened , he wanted to make things right.
He coulve blamed ultima and bail out living his best life co parenting the girl, but he chose not to avoid the consequences even though he endured so much and he did deserve a happy ending, he decided to sacrifice his own hapiness to make things right and im just bummed cause i know it could've hit so much stronger if the kiss scene was at this moment and not at the start(like i know they wanted to base their relationship in the players head, but i know that the higher ups at square wouldn't let another gay kiss in the first jp game with a gay kiss in it to happen) but i do think if terrence ran back after leaving just to give him one last kiss as he bid the farwell the scene would've been so much more impactful, showing what dion give up on in order to make things right.
(also i was dissapointed in clive and jill first kiss, idk near the end of the game technicalities felt rushed so it took many impacts of many scenario's so i guess there's that too.)
I do hope it'll get the 15's treatment, as in plot fix patches, and patches to fix animations+ add more context to some quests.
I hope there'll be a Jill DLC(the iron kingdom, i wanna see not only hear stories, and play as here would be dope), an Dion DLC(an actual eyeopener for the holy empire, i wanna see the city, fight against odin as bahamut, and see what his dad was like pre annabelle, and i wanna know about dion stance on branded) and a Joshua DLC(i wanna know how his life with the undying felt like)
Ohh also cid, i wanna have a cid dlc where you see how he started the hideaway, how he left the empire, and to learn more of how he had mid, what their relationship were like when she was young running in the hideaway and, well cid is implied bisexual numerous times throught the game, i wanna know once and for all, is it otto or gav that he had history with
So yeah, it feel rushed square, again.
Also square hit me up if you need dlc ideas i have many, including the rogue life of ambrosia, protecting the pple and chocobo's alike, with this dlc adding you an option to pet and hug her

Hi. so this is probs gonna be a long ask which i apologize for bc i'm a complete stranger LOL but i've been thinking about your dragon install concept since i saw it last night and i wanted to give you my full opinions on it bc i didn't want to blast your notifs with a wall of text in tags
so, for my personal thoughts (because i definitely think we have overlapping interests here esp since you brought up burning godzilla as an inspiration in that post and godzilla vs destoroyah is one of my favorite movies), i think if i were going to draft a scenario where sol is taken over by the FoC, i'd definitely lean into a more biological feeling, if that makes sense. my main hooks for this thought process are 1. while i can't speak on sin devil trigger bc i haven't played any devil may cry games, that is sort of what burning godzilla had going for it (and godzilla as a series hasn't been adverse to leaning into a more body horror adjacent focus with the king of the monsters, ie with shin godzilla) and 2. i think it makes a really interesting thematic parallel to justice. because obviously justice is like, she isn't a machine strictly but she does have a distinct bio-mechanical element to her, so i think its interesting to make a full gear sol go in the opposite direction and have a more visceral element to his design, if all that makes sense
if this comes off as like, rude or unsolicited at all i do sincerely apologize ^-^; bc i do like your concept a lot! i just have a lot of thoughts on this particular topic and i'm excited to see someone who's as interested in dragon install stuff as i am. peace up
Hey there! I don't get asks very often, so I'm pretty happy to be able to answer any of them.
I think you're right about a Full Gear Sol Badguy needing to lean into the biological features to contrast against Justice being so heavily bio-mechanically designed. She's a big Evangelion (which features beasts being bound in armor) reference in Xrd, whereas I think Sol should be something more like Godzilla or maybe Ultraman. A Kaiju, but depending on the circumstance I think he'd be designed with a more severe sense of horror (if he's a villain) or something a little more subtle (if he's still Sol). Either way, I think he leans into his Overture Dragon Install! Sort of like what you might get if you were to try and design an apex predator.
In the situation where Frederick becomes Justice, or whatever name you'd call him, I would think of a design that suggests that the fire is burning him from the inside out, which I guess is sort of body horror-esque? It would be inflicting a constant pain on his body, which would only serve to make him a more aggressive Command Gear, alongside being possessed by the Pope and blowing up Japan.
I did actually do a Sol-Justice swap once. I tried to make him look like a furnace being overrun by fire! His arms were made of fire. There's parts of that present in the Kaiju Sol too, because I have a tendency to design Sol's more monstrous forms like a physical shell being overwhelmed by its contents!
Admittedly, I'm not a Sol expert. Still, for someone like Sol who strives to keep his innards really far from the surface, something like that would be terrifying to experience. It's more important to be scary to him than it is to the "audience," I think.
"The Flame of Corruption exceeds even this physical vessel," is the description I think I used to describe the way fire explodes out of him, rather than just burning like a Charizard. Though, I should clarify and say the design isn't necessarily caused by the FoC overrunning Sol Badguy's human soul. He's still Frederick/Sol! He's just very on fire.
If I think about the Flame of Corruption as a sentient force influencing Frederick, then I think that the overlay of them would probably affect his psyche. However, if he keeps a cool head, then he'd be able to manage the form.
The design was influenced by the Kaiju fights in FFXVI, specifically Ifrit. At one point he fights a mountain! I thought to myself, "I wish Sol could have fought that giant form of Justice like that." I'd recommend looking up the fight, if you aren't saving the game for later. It's super cool, and if you like Dragon Installs, I think you'll see where the design comes from.
I really want a Guilty Gear Action Game while ArcSys is focusing on GG's franchise growth.
I'm glad to find people who enjoy Dragon Install! All my designs featuring Dragon Install designs do particularly well, so it's good to know we aren't alone.
Thank you for the ask!

400 request
First, congrats on your achievement! I love your little stories. I've been unable to read your latest as I've been out of commission. (Well, I had a baby boy 14 days ago, so... lol) Anyway, my brain is fried and I can't come up with any good request. So my only stipulation is, ffxvi clive/fem reader. Other than that. Write something that YOU would want to read.
I know, it's lame. But all in all, I just wanted to let you know your writing is very appreciated! Keep at it! :)
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! And congratulations to you and your baby boy - I hope you are all doing well. And don't worry - my stories will be here forever but these first few months must be so precious! Thank you for your request - this scenario popped in my head earlier so this one's for you x

ffxvi muses will be moved to tertiary muses and will only be written with friends.
i just don't feel all that connected with the fandom tbh and so i haven't been following much of anyone from it other than friends i know well and while i think ffxvi story is great for the most part, there are some that is left wanting. for one, it's about my big dumb man aka dion. i love him, man but i think my portrayal of him is vastly different and so it's not something i want to explore with someone unless i knew them well.
first of all, i find dion spearing olivier instead of the two fully grown adults who have been outright egging him to do tyrannical shit ( unless he already knows oliver = ultima, which is fine ) to be such a .......... pathetic behaviour on his part that i can't even bring myself to joke about it 😭 you're not telling me that he can hold himself back at two adults who talked down to him, and even proposing he go assert dominance after a truce is called and that every citizen who got caught in the conflict can get replaced. but when a kid say smth that is considered a mild version of the details the adults have been spewing. like why the hells is bahamut's ball so teeny weeny in this game. like why.
and while i do think the whole lmao dion killed a kid is funny as a meme during the first week of the game's release, i think it's snowballed to a point where i felt a little uncomfy because it's bringing out a lot of extra parts that i am personally uncomfy with seeing. but also nah .. i'm not going to give dion credit for taking down a kid ( who happened to be ultima, in which the fact was pure ignorance on dion's part until the second time ) just because he didn't manage to get an actual badass moment with shooting back at his father's twisted ideals and quite frankly, emotionally manipulative behaviour that dion truly deserves that crowning moment but was robbed from him. rip,,,,, it's ok i always have aymeric de borel from ffxiv
but i think it's good that he later admitted it was his weakness and his fault that ultima was able to take advantage of him because man .. how are you not aiming your spear at the actual tyrant who actually had sway over how things are carried out. like sure, he's your dad but shouldn't you be prepared for it or at least, expected the very realistic worst case scenario before starting quite a dramatic and eye-catching seige for everyone in the city to see? before storming your way over to the audience? like what, do you think your dad is just going to flip over a new coin at some talk no jutsu and getting rid of a child they can just later conceive again? after all that talk about how people can just be replaced?
and for the most part, sylvestre was taken out in the middle of the whole thing so god riddance, but i can't feel all that bad for dion being turned into bahamut later with ... pretty much everything considered and how a tyrant was taken out in the process. rip to the people who died in the middle of the conflict though.
last but not least, i wished dion lived so that he could actually face and properly address the things that happened. accepting that it is not fully under his control but also, he should've weighed his expectations better and make actual plans before calling up a seige. it had to be done sooner than later, for sure but definitely not in that sloppy ass way. and also facing the fact that sylvestre might have emotionally manipulated him since he was a child to have unwavering faith in him. instead, he died and sylvestre's behaviour was left up to ("oh he was under the unbreakable spells of his wife" get out of here alksjalsk) so ............. shrugs?? it's smth i'd like to explore but if i can't find anyone to write that with me, i'll just go to word docs as usual.

On the run up to Final Fantasy XIII and XV, I replayed the whole series sans MMOs. I absolutely the heck do not have the time or inclination to do that this time, but
If I finish Horizon Forbidden West in good time (and if I don’t get eaten by Jedi Survivor instead) I want to replay a Final Fantasy before FFXVI come out, and the options I am considering are:
Final Fantasy XIII-2: I have been meaning to replay this one for forever. I only played it once, directly after its release, and really enjoyed it. A surprising number of ideas and themes from the XIII trilogy have popped up in XIV (and in XV but that’s less surprising because of *~Fabula Nova Crystallis~*). On the downside this would be one of the less convenient ones to play. I think I would have to drag out the PS3.
Final Fantasy XII: playing XI really made me see how much that game influenced this game, especially in gameplay and aesthetics, but a little bit in overall feel too, and Id like to replay this one with that in mind. I’ve never played the Zodiac version and would like to. The Ivalice games seem to have a strong influence on the direction of XVI, so this makes XII XVI’s nearest sibling among the main series. This would also be one of the more convenient games to play, as I’d probably play it on the switch. On the downside: I do not love this one.
Final Fantasy XV: I couldn’t tell you if I played this game once or twice. I honestly don’t know. (the second time would have been while I was pregnant and having brain/fatigue problems) I do know it’s the most recent one and that it has the most action-oriented gameplay in the series Until XVI, so it would be interesting to go into XVI with this game in mind. On the downside: this game is sad as hell and also kind of a mess and I sort of doubt I would have the drive to play it all the way through again.
Others that would be relevant to play, but I won’t:
Final Fantasy Tactics: again, Ivalice. It’s probably the best (?) of the Ivalice games (though my personal fave is Vagrant Story) but my first playthrough took me seven years and nothing in heaven or earth or under the earth could cause me to play it all the way through a second time.
Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward: Kazutoyo Maehiro, who was main scenario writer for Heavensward (and also ARR, hmm), is credited as creative director/original screenplay for XVI. When 3.0 initially came out I aggressively DID NOT WANT to continue my journey with XIV because the Coerthas sections of ARR felt very much to me like “are you, American gamer, missing your D&D flavored normal ass gothic medieval fantasy? have we got the thing for you!” and ugggghhh. Also it’s dragons in the snow and my fatigue regarding Game of Thrones was and continues to be infinite. SO TO MY CHAGRIN: Heavensward is my favorite FFXIV expansion. It somehow manages to be all of that and also peak Final Fantasy/JRPG bullshit. The Catholic elves got me, man. So anyway, I expect XVI to have a similar flavor. I will replay XIV’s whole main scenario eventually but not soon. Perhaps when the graphics update that’s supposed to come with 7.0 happens.

Clari!! I'm so excited for the Touya-nii game and before you ask yes I'll pay for it lmao.
Recently I've been playing through FFXVI (I haven't finished it; life has been so insanely busy.) but now every time I look at Clive (or Joshua) I can't help but think of you! Mostly about how terrifying it would be to have Clive as a yandere- you can say the same about Dabi, but Touya-nii has no supernatural powers and he's still pretty terrifying too. I think that's a massive strength of yours, actually. You can take a character that's ridiculously strong, strip away their supernatural abilities, and then show us the essence of why they are so frightening.
I hope you're having a good week!

WAAAAH i can’t wait to hear what you think!!! i hope you enjoy playing it!!!
HEHE aww that's such a compliment tho!!! god they're so sexy it's actually unfair. honestly either of the rosfields as a yandere would be absolutely fucking terrifying. i feel like we know clive has a temper, but i genuinely think joshua is hiding this fucking wicked fierce temper that is really, really difficult to evoke but oh jesus christ help you when you've finally triggered it!! i can't even explain WHY i feel that way lmao ugh <33
wow!!!! thank you so much for saying that, oh my gosh, i’m genuinely so flattered you think so!! i know i’ve said this before on my blog but i really love taking a character, analyzing them, pulling them apart piece by piece and then rearranging them for specific scenarios—essentially answering the question of ‘okay, based on my own analysis and interpretation, how do i think [x character] would behave in [y situation]/as [insert concept here]?’, so to receive this compliment from you makes me so !!!!!!!! incredibly happy <3 thank you for letting me know your thoughts <3
thank you sweetpea, i hope you are as well!! <3 have a fabulous weekend!!
