According to Goodreads, my average rating is 3.8, which doesn’t feel quite right, but who am I to argue with data. As of now, I am 98 books in, but I fully intend to finish a short book and manga before midnight. it’ll be my first recorded year of reaching 100 books a year, but as I explained earlier, I feel like it made me bypass longer books. My longest book was On A Sunbeam, at 533 pages. That’s weak.
Read Bricks: My 2020 Reading Goal
This isn’t exactly a top books of 2019 post, because there are 2nd or 3rd choices of some months that are better than the #1s of other months. But I did notice a trend (3 months) where I would read the best book of the month as the first book of the month, and those were also the best books of the year.

And the best book:
If We Were Villains, ML Rio
I love this book, it was my favourite of 2019 and I still think about it. I found it on a whim, while I was aimlessly browsing the library. It’s about a Shakespeare group in college a cult, where one of their members were murdered and they all have something to hide. There’s a slow-burn m/m romance tragedy  that was painfully simar to my own gay awakening. But alas, I don’t own it, so if you guys want to gift it to me…

The best book:
Darius The Great is Not Ok, Adib Khorram
This follows an Iranan-american boy whose granddad in Iran is ill, so his family is going to visit them so Darius can know him before he dies. It isn’t about the granddad though: it’s about Iranian culture, soccer, and a boy. Being gay can be a death sentence in Iran, so while there’s definite gay undertones, they never actually do or say anything. Their friendship is the purest thing, some hope while Darius is struggling with depression.
March
Stats: 6 books, 3 manga, 2 horror, 1 contemporary

The best book:
Autoboyography Christina Lauren
This book made me upset. It’s about 2 boys, one who’s at peace with his bisexuality, and the other who’s a mormon. It deals with his struggle to love someone and go against his family and community. There’s also a writing seminar, where one has to write a book with the other coaching him. I thought that part could’ve been expanded more. There’s secret hikes and secret gay moments.

Radio Silence, Alice Oseman
Kat @ paperback dreams loves this book so much, if you didn’t know. I was expecting some letdown, but I still love it. It’s about a gang that produces a sci-fi podcast called Universe City while they muse about what they’re going to do after high school. It’s an exploration of why college isn’t for everyone.

December
This is a no-brainer. The Deep by Rivers Solomon is about merfolk descended from pregnant captives on slave ships that were thrown overboard. Their babies were born in the water, barely functioning merbabies. 100 years later, the society remembers three days a year, the memories too heavy and their capacity to short for them to be held by anyone other than the Historian. But now she’s sick of it and wants to find herself. Super gay, written by a nonbinary author.

My December TBR plus #currentlyreading The Deep by Rivers Solomon and Tarnished Are The Stars by @rosieethor The Deep is about the decedents of the people captured on slave ships that jumped overboard, a society that can't bear to remember their past and gives all of the memories to one merperson a generation. Tarnished Are The Stars is set in a future where technology is banned, least humanity fall into the trap of destroying the planet- but our main queers use it to help people with medical problems. #amreading #bookstagram #ilovebooks #lgbt

Hello Darkness, My Old Friend | November/December 2017 Wrap-Up
I didn't forget to do a November wrap-up, but since I was so caught up in real life I didn't feel the desire to do one. So I'm basically combining November and December's wrap-ups to end the rest of the year.
In Real Life (IRL)
November was ok, I don't really remember much of what happened. But this December has been a lot of trying times, filled with anxiety, worried moments, and feeling like my world was crashing down. It was mostly due to me not making time and being accountable for my actions. In case some of you don't keep up with my personal Twitter account, I share a lot of my writing on different platforms. I have had the hardest month so far scheduling, writing, and posting on time for a certain website. Before, I blamed my hectic work schedule, not getting enough time during the week to write, my boss, the moon, the sun, the stars, anything you could have thought of, I blamed it on why I couldn't just sit and write!! And for awhile, I even thought about quitting or taking a break, because I was just so frustrated on why I couldn't get anything done. Even if I sat home on my ass all day and just wrote, something else would get in the way and ruin my creativity. And I hated feeling out of control of my own work ethic. I still hate it. Even though it's a little better now, it definitely woke me up and made me change the way I work. Now, I just work on some things day by day, hour by hour, and if I don't finish by the end of the day, it's ok! There's always another day to keep at it and it'll get done eventually, one way or another. I know there are deadlines involved, but it's better to work on it even past the due date in order to finish. Because then it's done! There's not a lot of stress involved. Hopefully for the rest of the month and the beginning of 2018, I can use that analogy to work on other things, outside of writing.
In more happier news, I got my first internship at Entangled Publishing!! At first, I wasn't sure to apply because I don't have a lot of experience in publishing (just because you have a book blog doesn't mean you know about publishing lol). But I talked to my parents about it, and they encouraged me to apply....and I got it!! So far, it's been great; my job is to read manuscripts by new authors and make brief reports on them. There's a Facebook group for new interns, and we all get along great, we're learning a lot, and our editors are really nice!
In other news, my new obsession has been the K-pop guy group, BTS!! I first noticed them on Twitter when my timeline was showing their American debut on the 2017 American Music Awards, and they were just so cute! In case you don't know, they are a group of 7 young men from South Korea:  Jin (진), born Kim Seok-jin,  Suga (슈가), born Min Yoon-gi, J-Hope (제이홉), born Jung Ho-seok RM, born Kim Nam-joon Jimin (지민) Park Ji-min V (뷔) born Kim Tae-hyung Jungkook (정국), born Jeon Jung-kook They have been a band since 2013, their debut was June 13. And I had no idea that they were even a thing, if it weren't for my Twitter friends going OFF for these boys!! And they can dance!! A lot of my timeline during the AMAs were not here for them or into them like that, probably because we've had so many boy bands come and go through out the years. But the thing is with BTS and K-pop groups like them, they dance and entertain better than the US does, not going to lie!! We've had our N'SYNC, BSB, NKOTB, 98 Degrees, One Direction (whom I love!), The Wanted, Five Seconds of Summer, who were popular and loved in their own right, but not a lot of them danced. That's what I've missed from recent boy bands! And BTS know how to incorporate rap and hip-hop without it being offensive to black people, and I love it!! Even though a lot of their music is in Korean and I don't speak the language myself, just the fact that I can vibe with them and still understand their meanings means more to me than if they were to do an English album. Plus, RM is fluent in English, and Jungkook knows some English, which is helpful.
(Left to Right: V, Jimin. Cuties! ♥)
I still have a lot to catch up on when it comes to their music, but so far, V is my bias! His deep sexy voice is just my everything! Jimin is a cutie too, he may be a close second to being my bias wrecker! Let me know in the comments if you're a member of the BTS ARMY!! Who's your bias? Which songs should I listen to first?

NBA Scores 2017: Joel Embiid is ‘a problem,’ and everything else from Wednesday night
Embiid’s history night headlined an action packed NBA Wednesday.
Eleven NBA games were played on Wednesday night, and I wish I could sit here with a straight face and say you didn’t miss anything, that basketball on Nov. 15 was nothing new. But that would be a lie, and we’re not in the business of fake news.
Wednesday night’s slate of hoops was packed with everything you could want from a night of NBA action. And without further ado, I’m going to shut up and get to it:
Joel Embiid was so good, he made history
Embiid finished with 46 points on 13-of-20 shooting, but also picked up 15 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocks in Philly’s win over the Lakers. Those are career-high points, assists and blocks for the 76ers’ legendary big man. I could write about how many legends he joined or records he broke, but you could read about that here.
What’s more important is that you understand how he did it:
Four words: Joel Embiid can ball. 46 PTS / 15 REB / 7 AST / 7 BLK http://pic.twitter.com/bqGMmyPn6R
— Philadelphia 76ers (@sixers) November 16, 2017
Embiid was so good, he left Lakers head coach Luke Walton speechless:
youtube
“Well, we thought [Julius Randle] did a nice job on him the first time, but he’s a handful down there, and obviously, you get a nice whistle, it makes it even more challenging,” Walton said. “Because every time there was some contact, it was two free throws, and he’s a heck of a shooter so it’s not like you’re gaining an advantage by sending him to the line.”
Then, Walton dove a little deeper:
“So we have a couple different coverages,” he explained. “One is to double from the baseline, but our rotational man didn’t get there in time. You’ve gotta be there on the flight of the pass, you have to be on your way so when he has baseline, he’s turning right into you. So we did not get there in time on that one. We doubled off the cutter one time, and when they saw us do that, they made the cutter J.J. Redick so they could space him back out as a shooter.
“So we tried a couple different things, but you’ve got to tip your hat. He’s a heck of a player. He’s hitting pull-up 18-footers. They used him as the man to enter the ball from the post, and he’s relocating to the strong side corner and hitting 3s.
“So he’s... He’s a.. he’s uhh.. He’s a problem,” Walton conceded. “Our guys played really hard tonight, and you’ve gotta give Philly a bunch of credit because they just kept hitting those shots down the stretch, and eventually we ran out of ours.”
If you read all of that, you probably have already ordered a Joel Embiid jersey.
Then of course, he trolled Lonzo Ball on Instagram:
WHAT A NIGHT !!!!! #TheProcess
A post shared by Joel "The Process" Embiid (@joelembiid) on Nov 15, 2017 at 10:56pm PST
The crazy part is Ben Simmons went off, too
Simmons finished with 18 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and five steals. Only 47 other players — including LeBron James, Kareem, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan — have posted that stat line in NBA history, and Simmons, 21, is the third-youngest player to do it behind James and John Wall.
And this is what Philly’s future looks like playing off one another:
Lonzo Ball was not as good
Ball finished 1-of-9 from the field and 0-of-6 from three for just two points on the night. He is off to the worst start to a season in NBA history. But he should not stop shooting. More on that at SBNation.com/nba at approximately 8:30 a.m. ET.
The Cavaliers had a lot of highlights
Including this LeBron hockey assist, essentially to himself:
Dwyane Wade’s bounce pass on the floor to Iman Shumpert:
And, of course, this LeBron steal-and-stuff that virtually ended the game:
Kyle Kuzma almost ended The Process
Kyle Kuzma is fearless. Really tried to hammer one on Embiid's head. (via: @clippittv) http://pic.twitter.com/0UCfahcHlA
— Basketball Society (@BBallSociety_) November 16, 2017
Almost.
John Wall threw the ball between Hassan Whiteside’s legs
Looks like we’re back at the park
Some really odd stuff happened in Portland
First Magic head coach Frank Vogel touched Earth from a Damian Lillard jump shot:
Damian Lillard puts Frank Vogel on skates. Bye. http://pic.twitter.com/Vqu8zaIdk9
— Pettywise (@World_Wide_Wob) November 16, 2017
Then we’ve got angry C.J. McCollum blowing kisses at Evan Fournier:
CJ McCollum really blew Evan Fournier a kiss. http://pic.twitter.com/huwT4U4AGa
— NBA SKITS (@NBA_Skits) November 16, 2017
No idea what’s in the Portland water.
Oh, and the Kings lost by 46
To the Hawks, who were 2-12 entering Wednesday night. Gotta love the NBA.
I'll watch just about anything NBA, but even I can't deal with Kings-Hawks in November.
— Paul Flannery (@Pflanns) November 16, 2017
The Hawks and Kings are both bad, but the Kings are still losing by 40 http://pic.twitter.com/lVL3scpauv

The Kings lost by 46 to the Atlanta Hawks. Imagine, the Hawks are in the locker room saying, "Man, those guys suck."

Other things that happened
Kristaps Porzingis dribbled around one defender then dunked on another
The Hornets’ throwback jerseys were fire
Brandon Ingram used a referee as a towel
Ben Simmons euro-stepped right around Lonzo Ball
Guess what percent Joel Embiid says his conditioning is at
Oh, and Alabama head coach Nick Saban doesn’t understand why kids wear jeans the way they do these days
Wednesday night’s NBA scores
Hawks 126, Kings 80
Wizards 102, Heat 93
Knicks 106, Jazz 101
Pacers 116, Grizzlies 113
Timberwolves 98, Spurs 86

Dhivehi Artists worth following on Instagram
This is a list of exceptional Maldivian / Dhivehi artists to follow on instagram. I've limited the list to artists with public accounts. Each artist chosen adds something unique to the landscape of Maldivian art. Some are professional artists, others are the kind of people who occasionally produce work that is so incredible that it makes you wish they were. I have tried to pick a piece that represents each ones style; although in the case of some artists this is more difficult than the others as they are so versatile. They are presented in no particular order.

The blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) is a species of requiem shark, in the family Carcharhinidae, easily identified by the prominent black tips on its fins (especially on the first dorsal fin and its caudal fin). Among the most abundant sharks inhabiting the tropical coral reefs of the Indianand Pacific Oceans, this species prefers shallow, inshore waters. Its exposed first dorsal fin is a common sight in the region.

The Inspiring Reason This Marathon Runner Posted A Photo Of Her Cellulite
Marathoner Dorothy Beal has a message for all the runners out there: Don’t let a race photo steal your joy.
The blogger, mother of three and running coach based in Leesburg, Virginia recently went viral after posting powerful side-by-side photos to Instagram, both of which were taken during the same race.
“In one I looked happy and strong and in the other I was left questioning if there was a part of my body that didn’t have cellulite,” Beal said before explaining how hard ― but rewarding ― this particular race was for her.
“If you had asked me after if I had a good time I would have said YES!!” she wrote. “I still felt that way in the days following the race UNTIL I saw the photo on the left and then insecurity set in and I thought about how that day was not fun. But that’s silly, because it was fun...A race photo is ONE SINGLE moment in time and I let one of them steal joy from me.”
Beal added, “Most times we don’t look great while we run, but that’s not why we run anyways, we run to FEEL like I look in the photo on the right - HAPPY.”
Let's get REAL with each other again... I'm reposting this here because I think we all can agree that we are worth more than a photo captured at a race. Far too many of us let a single photo steal joy - the thing is - it's a single photo and we need to take back any power that photo steals #Repost @womensrunningmagazine ・・・ @mileposts here Let's get real with each other for a second shall we!? How many of you have let a race photo steal joy from you?? Both of these race photos were taken on the same day at the same race. In one I looked happy and strong and in the other I was left questioning if there was a part of my body that didn't have cellulite. This race at some points sucked for me - I got sick - threw up before crossing the finish line and had possibly my slowest 13.1 time ever - but post race the sucky feelings faded and I remember the day being fun - drinking wine with friends after, joking how wine cures all. If you had asked me after if I had a good time I would have said YES!! I still felt that way in the days following the race UNTIL I saw the photo on the left and then insecurity set in and I thought about how that day was not fun. But that's silly, because it was fun...A race photo is ONE SINGLE moment in time and I let one of them steal joy from me. Most times we don't look great while we run, but that's not why we run anyways, we run to FEEL like I look in the photo on the right - HAPPY. Beal’s post resonated with her 44k Instagram followers, who shared their own struggles with race photos.
“Thank you yes I have one from [a race] I trained so hard and the pic they took made me look awful,” one commenter wrote. “It really did steal my joy and accomplishment so thanks for this reminder.”
Another fellow runner wrote, “I had the same thing after my first race I hated how I looked in the photos but I just remember what a feat it was! Glad I’m not the only one it momentarily got down.”
The response to the photo proves that the activity is about more than just a race picture. Running is an incredible exercise that can do wonders for a person’s wellbeing. Research shows it can drastically improve your physical and mental health.
Beal’s side-by-side photo is also just one example of the many body-positive posts Beal puts on her Instagram page. In an emailed conversation with The Huffington Post, she explained her new “MOVEment,” called #ihavearunnersbody, which is all about revising what exactly a “runner” looks like.
“I’m constantly told that I don’t look like I run,” Beal said. “A) there is no such thing as a perfect body and B) anyone who runs looks like a runner. So yes I have cellulite and I’m not a featherweight, but my body and these legs have carried me through 32 marathons and over 100 races of various distances.”
In love with this #ihavearunnersbody photo from @thejessiest ・・・ Do you see me in this photo? In this photo I am strong and capable and determined and finishing the second of two marathons a month apart. But this morning I was still afraid to step on the scale. Like that number has value and therefore determines my value. It's ridiculous of course, but that feeling has persisted for so long. So this is a reminder to myself and to you that the scale carries no value, only a piece of information, that we are so much more than our appearance and that health is infinitely more important @ihavearunnersbody #healthyisthenewskinny #irunthisbody #ihavearunnersbody #sportsbrasquad #realrunning #austinmarathon #teamsnackattack

WAGS star Olivia Pierson got the memo this winter: Velvet IS IN. Colored velvet especially has been over the runways this season.
FYI WAGS stands for Wives and Girlfriends of professional athletes, in case you don’t watch the show.
Olivia and her fellow cast mate and BFF Natalie Halcro have their own successful fashion blog, JÊROME. It’s pretty cool you should check it out if you have a minute.
Last season, the girls got sent to Thailand to take photos of clothing for their blog. UGH #GOALS
Obviously, these ladies know how to dress to impress. Unfortunately, I am not a reality television star at the moment and I am pretty sure I cannot afford the gorgeous dresses that Olivia is wearing.
Velvet is just a luxurious fabric in general and you can’t help but feel ahhmazing in it.
Here are some of the best velvet looks from New York Fashion Week 2017 for a little #inspiration.

The E! reality star posted three dope velvet outfits to her Instagram recently and below you can purchase similar clothing to mimic her outfit!
The velvet trend this season is modern and sophisticated but still has that ’90s vibe that we all love. It’s like vampire chic meets glamorous rock and roll and I can’t get enough of it!
Whether it is a short mini with spaghetti straps or a long maxi with sleeves and a high slit up the thigh, you can guarantee velvet dresses are the IT thing to be sporting this season.
Here are all three of Olivia Pierson’s velvet dress outfits and some cheaper, more affordable alternatives inspired by her look.

Super Bowl LI: 11 New England Patriots players who are absolutely jacked
Tell us if you’ve heard this one before: The New England Patriots are in the Super Bowl.
For the ninth time in franchise history—and the seventh time with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady—the Pats are looking to end the season with a championship.
The last time New England played for the Lombardi Trophy, it turned out to be one of the most exciting Super Bowl games ever: The Patriots won with a last-second interception of Russell Wilson at the goal line by Malcolm Butler, stunning the world to take the 28-24 victory.
This matchup should be just as tough. The Atlanta Falcons were the NFL's highest-scoring offense in 2016, and while they come in with plenty of big guns—Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman, Sean Weatherspoon, Mohamed Sanu, and Keanu Neal—the Patriots have some shredded dudes of their own.
[RELATED1]
Even though Rob Gronkowski won’t be active for the Super Bowl (which everyone but Falcons fans is upset about), the Pats have plenty of talent entering the battle. And while Bill Belichick isn’t a fan of social media—what he calls “SnapFace” and “InstaChat”—that hasn’t stopped some of his Patriots players from posting their workouts on Instagram.
Here’s how 11 players on the Patriots got ripped and helped the team make it to the Super Bowl against the Falcons:

With a blended palette of dusty azures and smoky charcoals, Georgina Ryland leaves room for the moonlight in her blown-out body art of a starry night featuring the storied Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry. The Australian makeup artist leaves no spectator guessing at the the paint strokes in the creation of her masterfully blended portrait, either: in an Instagram timelapse video, the entire painting process is documented from outlining sketchings, to applying the opaquely painted, limitless night sky.
In a caption on Instagram, Ryland notes that painting the full piece took around five hours to complete. For this particular “painterly sort of style,” she explains, Ryland used a speed-paint method that dramatically reduced the overall time to finish, as well as producing a stellar the detailed yet deft timelapse spectacle.

The professional makeup artist and prosthetics crafter has reached into every realm of the fantasy universe in order to practice new techniques and create her original visual stories. From painting a whale shark to replicating the intense yellow-eyed stare of a wild tiger, Ryland lives in a different world by applying her fantasies directly to her skin.
Ryland holds a degree in Cinemagraphic Makeup from the Australian Academy of Cinemagraphic Makeup, which also served as impetus to professionally pursue makeup artistry and venture into special effects design for Ryland.
