NORMA TANEGA SENDS GREETINGS
OH MY GOODNESS! I love this song, “You’re Dead,” by Norma Tanega.
But wait, what if you were dead?
Have you prepared?
Today your writing, or art, is not just your writing, it is your intellectual property. As such, when you ride off into the sunset someday, and leave your intellectual property behind, there is the very real possibility that someone you are blood-related to, or legally related…

POETRY AND THE GRAMMY AWARDS
Want to read all about it? CLICK HERE
Poetry is more and more getting its due. Why is that? Could it be because poetry soothes the soul, and so many souls need soothing? Could it be because poetry is easy to read quickly, on your phone? What other thoughts do you have?
Dianne here, and I earned my MFA in poetry writing, and I am a fan of the stuff. We try, at DPP, to incorporate poetry into our…

MAKING A LIVING AS A NOVELIST
m
Aside from doing my own writing, and teaching and tutoring, I’m in the publishing biz. And, during my six years doing that I have really been delving into this topic over and over, not even for myself, in all honesty, but for the truly very talented authors I have helped to publish who I think should be making a living from their writing because most authors are not making a living from their…

WHEN DO I GET MY OWN WEEKEND AWAY?
And, for that matter, and for fairness, when does Dave get his?
I was surprised last year to find that someone I knew took weekends away by herself to “be with my book.” Wow.
And she’s not talking about writing a book folks. She’s talking about reading one.
Of course, she’s childless by choice, and not trying to be an entrepreneur, and has a partner who takes turns with her being the one home…

ARE YOU AN AUTHOR? GOT A RECOMMENDATION FOR US?
Ray Bradbury was a talented author, and, in many ways, my introduction into a genre called sci fi. In the 1970s sci fi felt like a new thing, but I think it has always been with humans, even from the time when stories were scratched into cave walls.
DANDELION WINE was one of my favorites. I remember how much I wanted to try to make wine from dandelions, which I had a long-standing love for, and…

I count myself lucky, because of three.
Short and sweet:
We have three in the family. When one of us is annoying the other two can hang out; when one of us wants alone-time, the other two don’t have to be lonely, and board games are better with three. People in your house are worth more than…

FOLLOW ME DON'T FOLLOW ME
I have one follower.
I bet you a Coke Slurpee I can get at least one more by the end of the week!
Who likes those odds?
C’mon, follow me. Then come to Los Angeles, and let’s have that Coke Slurpee. I’m totally buying!
Right now my life is like that great line form the classic film, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE: “Sad to be all alone in the world.”
*sigh*
Just me: all by my lonesome.
