Qian Kun
Kun’s lips are pursed together, his eyes widen at the sight of you. With your blood stained cheeks, mixed with your murky tears, you were covered head to toe in… red. He looks you up and down before demanding angrily, “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?” His voice is loud and clear, and you can’t help but choke up a few sobs in response, unable to answer him. Kun grabs the gun out of your hands, and embraces you in a tight hug. This time his voice begins to crack and it’s a lot softer, “What did you do…?”
Ten
Ten was so caught off guard by the blood, he didn’t even notice the gun in your hands. “Holy SHIT! What the hell, y/n?” Strings of curses followed, but you couldn’t do anything but just sob uncontrollably. Ten gazes into your teary eyes. It’s hard to see your face clearly, since it’s covered in blood. Although Ten had no idea what you did, you had come to him for help. He grabs your shoulders and presses his face close to yours, and gives you a comforting smile, “Come inside. I’ll get you cleaned up.” He would be your rock. He would be your shield. He would protect you. Always.
Dong Si Cheng
Winwin has mixed feelings as soon as he sees you at the door. He’s definitely shocked, but hides it well. The gun was directed towards Winwin, but your hands were shaking, trembling. You were a wreck, a blubbering mess. He places his hand upon yours, slowly lowering the gun. “Why don’t you put the gun down and tell me what happened?” His voice has a soothing and calming edge to it. He embraced you in a hug, rubbing your back, as he whispered in your ear, “It’s going to be okay.” And that’s almost enough to make you believe his words. Almost.
Xiao De Jun
Xiaojun cursed as soon as he saw you. “Woah…” He held his hands up in defense, eyeing you carefully. His eyes nervously glanced around the area, wondering if any of his neighbors might take notice. You remained silent, your shaky fingers still wrapped around the gun.  The scent of blood fills the air, which Xiaojun notices as quite fresh. Once his shock has worn over, he finally breaks the silence, “Are you going to tell me what happened or are we going to be here all day?”
Wong Kun Hang
Hendery is just at a loss for words. The first thing he says to you, trying to process everything going on in front of him is, “Oh. That looks… messy.” (no shit) Hendery stands there awkwardly, not sure of what to do. He looks into your eyes and stares back at his reflection. There’s nothing left he realizes. Whatever you did, whatever caused this mess… didn’t matter. You would never be the same. The person he once knew, was gone. Lost forever. And he could never get you back.
Liu Yang Yang
Yangyang hadn’t expected you to turn up at his doorstep, much less covered in blood. “I’m trying not to freak out… but is the blood yours?” You shook your head, and he stared at you, in awe for a second. He put his hands around your shoulders, and felt how much you were shaking. Not wanting to disturb the neighbors, he brought you inside, wrapped a towel around your body, and quickly filled a bucket with water so he could wash you off. “Yangyang…” You called out to him, your voice still trembling, “Do you trust me?"

Jaune Strife au: I don't think Cloud has been properly introduced to Jaune's friends yet. How do they react to the SOLDIER?
"Hey, Jaune?" Ruby walked next to Jaune, both leading their teams to his mom's bar. "What's your dad like?"
"My dad?" Jaune repeated. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, we've met your aunt, and all of your uncles, and your mom."
"Not all of my uncles, but I see what you mean." Jaune rubbed his chin. "My dad is usually away on missions, and even then, he's not really a people person like my mom."
"Even though he told you all you need is confidence?" Yang smirked as she slid up behind Jaune. "How'd your parents meet anyways?"
"Well, they grew up in the same town, then he left to become part of the SOLDIER program, and after he failed, he came back home on guard duty. Then the village was destroyed, and he helped Mom escape."
"Aw, that's so sweet!" Nora chirped.
"SOLDIER..." Weiss hummed. "Why does that sound so familiar?"
"Your dad failed and was put on guard duty?" Blake asked.
"Yup." Jaune nodded. "He got into the military, just not the special forces program, so he lucked out in escorting two SOLDIERs to his hometown. And then- Dad!"
Jaune hurried his way over to his father. The man almost half Jaune's size, but twice his build, turned around and welcomed his son with open arms. Firm slaps on the back were exchanged between the two as the father and son embraced.
"How've ya been, kiddo?" Jaune's father smiled.
"Great, Dad!" Jaune replied. "It feels like it's been forever!"
"Something like that." His father replied. "And who are your friends?"
"Dad, this is my team, and our sister team." Jaune gestured to his friends. "This is Ren, Nora, and Pyrrha of team JNPR." His team waved. "And this is Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang of team RWBY."
"Hello, sir!" Ruby waved.
"A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Arc." Weiss greeted.
"Uh, actually, it's Strife." His father corrected. "Cloud Strife. We just named Jaune and his sisters something different for their last names."
"Never explained why, either." Jaune added. "But let me guess, when I'm older, right?"
"Right." Jaune's dad nodded. "Name's Cloud, by the way."
"Nice to meet you, Cloud." Yang waved. "I'm-"
"Yang Xiao Long." Cloud nodded. "My wife's told me all about you."
"Oh, really?" Yang smirked.
"Mhm." Cloud looked behind him to the bar. "Says you tried to get her in trouble by ordering while underaged." Yang looked past him, and saw her photo on the bar billboard, labeled, 'Underaged - DO NOT SERVE' along with her sister and friends. "She's not too fond of you."
"Give me a break." Yang groaned, earning a giggle from her sister.
"To be fair, though," Cloud smirked, "Tifa's kind of hard to impress anyways."
"You impressed me." Tifa said, pulling Cloud's head back to kiss his forehead, earning a chuckle from him.
"After almost dying for the umpteenth time."
"Like you said," Tifa beamed, "I'm hard to impress."
Jaune smiled, then noticed how his friends were looking at his parents. They all had the same looks on their faces. From someone as young as Ruby to someone as stoic as Ren, he could recognize they all saw what he saw looking at his parents. This was a couple who went through hell and back, and knew only true love with each other.
"Hey, Dad?" Jaune asked.
"Yeah, Jaune?" Cloud replied.
"How about a sparring match between us?"
"Hm, your mom says your kickboxing skills are rusty," Cloud smirked as he stood up straight, "I hope the same isn't true about your swordplay."

Nothing is Forever Anymore
Summary: Yang's always been there for Ruby. From the moment she was born until now. So why couldn't she have saved her? Why couldn't she have been there this time? The picture of Ruby drinking that tea will forever be scarred into Yang's mind… How will she ever be able to keep going after that?
(Or how Yang processes what happened to Ruby and how she reflects back on all the moments she's failed to be there for Ruby in the past.)
Words: 3405 Main Pairing: Minor Blake Belladonna/Yang Xiao Long Rating: M
Notes: Fair warning, this was really tough to write, so I imagine it will be to read as well. I just needed to write this to actually process everything that happened in the latest episode of RWBY.
I actually made a mini Fic Playlist to listen to while writing this because it just helped me not completely break down while writing this. It's only half an hour long and I really recommend listening to it as you read. The title of the fic is from Take Me Back by Sarah Jarosz which can be found on the playlist.
Anyway... good luck if you choose to read.
Fic:
“Yang, when is Mum coming home?” Ruby says from the confines of her warm bed.
Yang closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She should tell Ruby soon. She shouldn’t keep this from her for much longer. Ruby deserves to know.
Not today.
“Soon, Rubes…” Yang whispers, gently stroking Ruby’s forehead, a smile forced on her face. “I’m sure she’ll be back soon.”
Ruby nods. It’s so innocent. Yang never wants to see her sister break.
“I want to be like Mum when I grow up.” Ruby smiles as she turns onto her side, eyes closing as she prepares to drift off to sleep.
“Well, maybe you can start working on a weapon in the morning?” Yang squeezes Ruby’s shoulder gently before she steps back from the bed.
“I’d like that.” Ruby’s voice is heavy, carrying more than just tiredness.
Maybe it is time to tell her soon. Yang lets out a small sigh. “I love you, Rubes.”
“I love you too,” Ruby whispers back. “Good night.”
“Night,” Yang whispers back as she steps from the room. The moment the door shuts behind her, she collapses back against it. She wants to cry, it’s so much. But she can’t. She needs to be strong, to be like Summer.
The front door opens and He stumbles in. The man who’s meant to be their father.
“Is she back?” He says, looking hopeful.
“No.” Yang takes a deep breath, stepping away from Ruby’s door. “Of course she isn’t.”
Yang starts walking towards the kitchen, climbing on the stool that she leaves in front of the sink, beginning to wash up the plates she and Ruby had used to eat.
“There’s food on the stove for you,” Yang says without looking at Him. She knows exactly what she’ll see if she does. He’ll be slumped in a chair, eyes distant.
Yang needs to be strong. She’s always been strong. She can bury her pain with responsibility.
She’s not like Raven. She’s not like her mother. She’s not like Him.
She’ll never leave.

Talk Shop Tuesday: How do you decide which scene in a chapter of HHaR to illustrate? And are there any scenes that you'd like to illustrate but haven't had time/energy/etc.?
It’s always a careful see-saw balance between “interesting scene from the chapter that I would enjoy drawing and think people would like to see drawn” and “I’m a lazy, low-spoon disaster and will cop out on anything too complicated”..!
For example, I absolutely hate drawing interior settings, so you will notice there are very few detailed indoor scenes - and the times they spend entire chapters indoors and I can’t escape it, the settings tend to be very vague. So usually, if I have the choice, I’ll avoid any scenes taking place inside.
Drawing unnamed, random npcs/crowds is also boring/taking too many spoons, so again I tend to avoid those (or making the people around them silhouettes or just very roughly sketched background figures). Architecture is another headache – if I have decent refs and I really want to convey the atmosphere of a place, I’ll sometimes draw cityscapes, but I’m a happier artist when I don’t have to.
So in short, if I can get away with character close-ups or doing landscape backgrounds, that’s what I’ll likely go for, especially if I’m a bit low on spoons!
Sometimes I really do want to capture something more complex, though – the latest one, with Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji as guest stars took me forever to draw, because I hadn’t drawn those two before, and I had to start by going through the last few episodes of the series to screengrab a whole bunch of refs, and then actually draw their faces, decide on which of their outfits I wanted to draw, then find refs for that etc. It took a lot of time and work. 🥲
And yeah, there are absolutely many scenes I would love to see drawn, even though I don’t have the time or energy for it – there’s a reason I so often wish for commission slots for birthdays and Christmas! I love to see others tackle those scenes! Xue Yang and Xiao Xingchen meeting on the bridge in Hongqi, the three of them cuddled up together in the ruins of Dushou, the trio walking toward the temple of Yanxia Guan, almost drowning in the river after fighting the catfish yao… I’ve been blessed with so many gorgeous commissioned works!
Not to mention the amazing fanart some people have given me! It takes my breath away every time someone decides to draw something from the story just because they felt inspired to, absolute pure magic! The best feeling in the whole world! 😍
As for specific scenes I would love to see drawn, either scraping my own spoons together or commissioning others to… 🤔
Song Lan possessed by the mist spirits and fighting Xue Yang is such a striking visual in my mind, with his white eyes and mist trailing from nose and mouth!
Song Lan dragging/carrying a crying, drunk Xue Yang up the stairs and into his room in Muaishan, or possibly the following utter breakdown.
Song Lan’s shock when Xue Yang tells him about the death sentence awaiting him in Jinlintai and/or the follow-up shock when Xiao Xingchen is let in on it.
Xiao Xingchen and Xue Yang by the little impromptu shrine Xue Yang made for Jin Guangyao
More art of the three of them cuddling in Dushou, tbh, because it’s the first time they allow themselves to snuggle up that way on purpose, all three of them, and I love that for them! 🥰
The smut scenes – I’ve only drawn one of those. Now that we can’t post porn on tumblr anymore, it feels like there’s little point to put in all that work, because I couldn’t share such art in many places. But I still love to see it!
I originally wanted to draw the trio and Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji having dinner and talking together for chapter 57, but was once again defeated by old nemesis - interiors. It was bad enough drawing 5 detailed characters in a single illustration, I would not also have to deal with walls and furniture and stuff. 😒
That's some of the ones that come to mind! So many scenes, so few spoons! (And apparently I'm supposed to be writing the damn thing, too! 😭)
Thank you so much for asking! 💚

Chapter 55
Light rain hit the window pane. The world was dark and gloomy, the greyness extending into the room. There was a smell of musk around them, mixed with the smell of old mould. Their clothes were scattered all over the floor. The two of them were entangled, burning with desire, stuck together like glue.
It was rare for them to be so close, and the two of them were unconsciously indulging each other. Lin Yan straddled Xiao Yu's thighs, heaving up and down half-accommodatingly and half-initiating. His whole body spasmed, hands grasping at him like a life-saving straw. He didn't know why he was so urgent. The ghost couldn't control himself. He wanted nothing more than to penetrate him, to crush him into his arms after thirsting for so long.
The abstinence and clarity that filled the place where a scholar studied hard were replaced with what seemed to be an aphrodisiac fragrance in the air, which ground his whole body to ashes and filled up every square inch of space. Books surrounded the places he placed his hands and feet. The Confucian classics, history, philosophy and literature, Zhu Xi's Neo Confucianism, the monarch and his subjects, the father and son, the way to become an official, all solemn and dignified, scrutinizing these two people proclaiming their lust in the daytime. The more he says he can't, the more he wants it, and it's difficult to control himself.
Suddenly remembering that Xiao Yu said that the house's master was still there, he hurriedly suppressed his whimpers and groans, not daring to make a sound. He gritted his teeth and endured the sweet suffering. Xiao Yu wrapped his arms around his waist and said softly: "This is our home. . . "
There was a throbbing in his heart, and he slid across Xiao Yu, as if secretly stealing this love under the gaze of his old lover, a thrilling sense of revenge.
"Xiao Lang. . ." he murmured. Xiao Yu shook his head and cupped his chin: "Lin Yan. Look at me, Lin Yan."
Their eyes meet. The softness in his heart made his eyes inexplicably moist. He hugged him, wanting this to last forever, a most extravagant, absurd and unrealistic wish.
Under the gentleness of the ghost, he turned into a guqin that stopped on the highest note, and whose strings were about to break. Finally, he couldn't bear the friction behind him, and he came into Xiao Yu's hands. The ghost then retreated from his body. Because he hadn't been satisfied, he hugged Lin Yan and couldn't stop struggling.
"What's wrong?" Lin Yan caressed his face, "Just cum inside."
Xiao Yu half-opened his eyes and smiled with difficulty: "With this yang fire covering your body, if we continue, do you want to become a ghost with me?"
Embracing him with his hand, his black hair fell down, and only the straight bridge of his nose could be seen from the side. When he climbed up on him, he slightly tilted his face. He called out to Lin Yan almost inaudibly, tilted his head and kissed his lips, contentedly sighing.
The ghost cleaned the clothes all over the floor and carried Lin Yan across the long deserted courtyard. He brought him back to the bedroom and carefully placed him on the bed. He fetched a basin of clean water and carefully wiped the evidence of their lovemaking with a towel.
Lin Yan stared at him and suddenly realized Xiao Yu didn't care about him. He suspected that he would definitely be reluctant even if he begged him. But so what? He will always bear the shadow of someone else. No one can defeat a lost love, his rival in love, which exists in the void. The biggest weight in his hands is "lose," and this alone can push him into a desperate situation, and he will lose.
Pretending to be calm, he put on his clothes and looked out the window: "Has the rain stopped?"
Xiao Yu didn't answer. The wet handkerchief suddenly fell to the ground. The ghost squatted down, rubbing his fingers against his brow as if he had a headache: "Lin Yan, I remembered something. . ."
Lin Yan struggled to help him. Xiao Yu suddenly raised his head, stared blankly at his face, and murmured: "Yihan. . ."
"What did you say?"
Xiao Yu covered his face with his hands. His slender fingers trembled slightly as he struggled: "The person I'm looking for is Duan Yihan, the young head of the Duan family in Jinyang."
"We're now in the Duan family's ancestral house. This is Yihan's bedroom."
Lin Yan jumped up from the bed. It was an extremely delicate rosewood canopy bed with pillars at the four corners and barriers at the left and right ends. The small wooden tenon was assembled into a hollowed-out square along the two columns in front, with a cover on the top called the "ceiling." The lake-green curtain was hung with silver hooks and tied to the carved floral patterns. It was so expensive that it made people nauseous, but it also brought a sense of déjà vu.
". . . He used to call me Xiao Lang."
Lin Yan staggered backwards a step.
The room was silent, but then the window pane was suddenly blown open by the wind, knocking against the wall, and the lake-coloured curtain was blown by the wind, bulging like a sail.
". . . I see." Lin Yan slowly stepped forward to help Xiao Yu up, his head muddled and his thoughts unconscious. "Let's go back. We'll talk when we go back."
Xiao Yu nodded silently and picked up the paper lantern that fell on the ground. He pinched off the burnt wick, struck it with a flint, and handed it to Lin Yan, "This is a ghost lantern. It can lead people out of the ghost realm. Take it with you and follow me. Don't look back on the road. We've been delayed for too long."
"Does it still hurt? I'll carry you." He put his hand on Lin Yan's pulse and sighed when he saw that he was trying to squirm away. "You just don't listen. If you keep tossing and turning like this, what am I going to do to pay for your life?"
Xiao Yu supported Lin Yan and he limped out of the house, following his instructions. He didn't dare turn his head and went back the same way he had come with the lantern. The rain had stopped, and the streets were filled with thick fog. He could only see the overlapping eaves and brickwork, covered in hanging red lanterns, swaying in the wind.
The pagoda he had come from was close at hand. It was strange to say, but when he stepped through the pagoda, the surrounding fog had disappeared. Even the sun had poked its head out from behind the clouds, and the puddles on the ground reflected the sun's golden light. Tourists complained about the torrential rain just now, shaking off the rain from their umbrellas.
Yin Zhou, A-Yan and the fox were waiting anxiously by the side of the road, and when they saw Lin Yan, they hurriedly stood up.
"There they are!" Yin Zhou yelled, seeing the two approach. A-Che made a seal on his palm and touched Xiao Yu's forehead. The ghost appeared out of thin air, but the others surrounded him in a circle to block him so no passers-by noticed.
"There were too many roads in there. I didn't know where to turn. Fortunately, I met Xiao Yu." Lin Yan blew out the lantern, balled it up and threw it into a trash can.
"Too many roads? What roads?"
"Here, there's a big area in the back. I'll show you around later. There are many old houses." Lin Yan pointed back and was frozen for a moment. He saw that the pagoda was only half repaired, and a yellow sign said, "Under construction, temporarily closed." Following the direction of his finger was a large area of ruins, collapsed houses, sections of dilapidated walls covered with waist-deep weeds, and several graves stood crookedly. It looked unspeakably treacherous.
Where did the ancient city go just now? Could it be that they walked into a rift of time, a mirage wrapped in thick fog? Recalling the scene in the city, he was infinitely surprised.
A-Che circled around Lin Yan, sniffing hard: "You smell like foxes, snakes, weasels, rats and wandering wild souls. Empty old houses and cemeteries are most attracted to these things."
"Forget it, let's just leave. This place is weird. Let's get out of here before it gets dark." Yin Zhou didn't care, and raised his chin at Xiao Yu, "Thank you, buddy."
Just now, he had been so vigorous that he felt uneasy walking, A-Yan looked at the two leaning on each other with a slight chill in his eyes and deliberately bumped into Xiao Yu when he passed by him: "Stay away from him if you can't afford to give him anything in return. I'll let you off just this once."
A group of people got on a tourist bus and left the ancient city as if they were fleeing. Looking back, he saw that the ruins of the ancient city were lit up with colourful lights, with performances being sung while the wild slopes in the northwest corner sank in a strange black mist. It was a gloomy and bleak place like a huge mouth wishing to swallow everything bright in one gulp.
A-Yan went out early the next morning, saying that he was going to buy clothes for the ghost marriage, leaving everyone else to recuperate in the hotel and check the information. There was a tea restaurant on the second floor of the hotel. With a room card, free snacks were provided every day from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. A-Che was still in bed, but when he heard the news, he jumped up and pulled Lin Yan with one hand and Xiao Yu with the other. After opening the door, he stood at the door and waited, gulping strongly.
There was a seat by the window. The sun was warm, the stainless steel plate full of chocolate snacks reflecting some of the bright sunlight. Next to it was a thick stack of reprinted ancient books. The TV was broadcasting the Bundesliga*, and a table of middle-aged uncles is watching TV while playing cards. Lin Yan rested his chin in one hand and propped his tablet in front of him, trying to find clues from endless academic papers.
*(T/N: A professional association football league in Germany)
The elevator door opened with a ding. Yin Zhou appeared in the foyer with a messy head of hair and greeted the three of them hurriedly. He pulled out his chair and sat down: "Is there any progress?"
"There's plenty of information, but it's useless." Lin Yan sighed, pointing to the screen. "The heyday of Shanxi merchants was in the Qing Dynasty. They were only getting started during the Ming Dynasty. The records on this subject mainly discuss the impact of the Ming government's implementation of the emerging Chinese law on merchants and traders, and there is little information on named families."
"But there was a Duan family who exchanged grain and cloth with troops from northern towns for salt in the early Ming Dynasty. The salt merchant business started, and the founder was Duan Ruyang. But the Duan Yihan that Xiao Yu mentioned lived in the middle of the Ming Dynasty. It's hard to know how many generations he had, and besides, the best-preserved Shanxi merchant compound in the vicinity can only be traced back to the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, and it's not easy to find a starting point from the ruins."
Yin Zhou opened a Coke and gulped a sip: "There's no kind of outstanding achievement? It's like that show on TV, the Qiao family pioneered the tea road which resulted in starting a national financing business. How impressive."
Lin Yan said innocently: "If this Duan Yihan really is me, do you think there's hope for him to start a business?"
"That's right, he's probably just as scatterbrained." Yin Zhou muttered.
"It's all so difficult." Lin Yan sighed.
"Tch, professionals have such spirit. If there's a difficulty, we try and solve it. If there are no difficulties, we will create some!" Yin Zhou smugly rolled up his sleeves, "I'll do it instead. You go and rest."
"Can you read the historical materials?"
Yin Zhou waved his hand: "You don't understand this. We have to combine various knowledge to dig deep and accumulate grain. It's better to kill thousands of people by mistake than let the wrong one go. Just watch!*"
*(T/N: Basically it's better to come up with a dozen bad ideas to find a good one than pass up on something that sounds bad but might be what works)
Lin Yan gave up his seat to Yin Zhou, rubbed his temples and went to the bathroom. He washed his face vigorously and looked up at himself in the mirror. His eyes were covered with a misty layer, and he couldn't see anything clearly. He couldn't stop himself from punching the water and scolded himself: "What the hell are you trying to do!"
Suddenly there was an extra shadow in the mirror, standing silently behind him.
Lin Yan barely squeezed out a smile: "You don't move at all. Do yu get to be scary just because you're a ghost?"
Xiao Yu wiped away the drops of water on his face and said softly, "I'm sorry."
"Don't. It sounds weird." Lin Yan turned off the tap. He turned around and leaned against the marble table, lost in thought. "It's not just for you now. I'm also a little curious. What kind of person was I?”
"It's a terrible feeling to think of something but not remember it clearly." Lin Yan smiled wryly.
Yin Zhou was staring at the screen in a daze when he returned. When he saw Lin Yan coming back, he fixed his eyes on his face. Lin Yan shook his head, and Yin Zhou followed like a sunflower fluttering in the wind.
"Is there grass on my face?" Lin Yan touched his chin.
"Tch, god, it's so similar." Yin Zhou looked at him, then at the screen, and waved at Lin Yan vigorously, "Look for yourself. Does this person look like you?"
"Like me? Is it mummy or a coffin. . ."
Before he finished speaking, he suddenly stopped. On the screen was a smoky antique painting with fine brushwork and light colour with the characteristics of that era, like those hanging in the ancestral hall in the old house. Although the characters were not realistic, their facial expressions were captured very delicately. A young man with delicate features, with a bun on his head, wearing a round-collared and large-sleeved shirt, sat upright, with the corners of his mouth raised, seemingly smiling. The inscription had been scratched off by something, and its space was empty, lighter in colour than the surrounding area.
Lin Yan drew in a cold breath. The screen was turned in his direction, and he was so startled that he couldn't speak. Yin Zhou was right. The person in the painting resembled him too much. If there was a difference, it was probably in comparison to his kindness. The character in the painting had a more charming expression. He by no means looked like someone who was cold and dettached. The attitude was like he was gazing at his lover, sitting upright, but his clothes were very casual, stone green folds overlapping, that had been spread on the ground.
Xiao Yu's expression also changed, and he stretched out his hand in a daze to touch the painting on the screen, but Lin Yan blocked him: "Hey, don't touch it. It's not real."
"Is this the Duan Yihan you were talking about?"
"It's him." Xiao Yu said straightforwardly. "There's no doubt about it."
Lin Yan cast his gaze to the lower left corner: "It's a pity that there's no inscription and seal. Why would someone destroy the inscription?" He was suddenly shocked, the black tablet with no words flashed, and turned to look at the ghost: "Could it be you. . ."
"I did it." Xiao Yu turned his face away, staring out the window in a daze.
The mud-gold ancient painting on the screen appeared out of nowhere like a time-travelling ghost, like a deliberate reminder of what they once were.
It was probably a March springtime in the painting. One of them was sitting in a black lacquered chair, and the other was standing in front of the canvas with a brush, fanning out on a piece of rice paper. The two of them looked at each other and smiled. The young head of the Duan family put aside all the ledgers and tools, charming eyes like silk, gazing at his lover's obsessed expression, staring at him for so long he forgot to write, and a round drop of ink bled on the rice paper. . . Perhaps done in the study they were in today. Lin Yan deliberately asked Yin Zhou: "What are you doing?" Where did you find this? Was it in the doctoral thesis I just gave you?"
"I'm too lazy to look at that stuff." Yin Zhou disagreed. "I found it when I searched directly with keywords. The original source seems to be from a book that teaches painting, "A Closer Study of Folk Landscapes and Figures in the Ming and Qing Dynasties." It has nothing to do with what you said about their history. "
"Hey, here's the author's contact information. Do you want to ask them?" Yin Zhou rubbed his hands excitedly. "Maybe it's a descendant of the Duan family."
Just as I was talking, there was a clanging sound in the hallway. The little Daoist priest was sweating profusely and dragged two meter-long snakeskin bags. The back of his blue robe was wet with sweat. An attendant stood at the elevator entrance to welcome the guests, and, seeing his appearance, her mouth fell open for a moment, but she still asked, "Do you have a reservation, sir?"
Yin Zhou hurriedly put down the coke can to greet him: "Two dead men are getting married, not you. Why are you bringing so much?!"
The little Daoist priest glared at him: "K-Keep your voice down. Aren't you afraid of someone hearing us?!"
The two smiled at the female attendant with guilty grins and brushed it off: "We're fine by ourselves."
Lin Yan didn't care to listen to the two of them chatting. He held his phone in one hand, while Xiao Yu tightly held the other. His heart was pounding.
"Ring-ring-"
"Hello?"
The phone call connected, and Lin Yan patiently exchanged a few pleasantries. The man on the other end of the phone was a man with a Southern accent, speaking a Mandarin dialect. Maybe because he kept putting "la" at the end of his sentences, trying to make himself sound smart, he was pretty shrewd.
"Which painting are you talking about? I've published a lot of paintings and collected several ancient paintings. How do I know which one it is. . . Oh, the book about landscapes and figures in the Ming and Qing dynasties. I remember that one. It took a lot of effort. Yes, let me tell you, it took two full years, from collecting materials to organizing them and publishing the book. Hey, are you a reporter? You have to make an appointment with my secretary for an interview. . ."
Lin Yan silently raised his middle finger at Yin Zhou.
Hearing Lin Yan describe the title of the book, the number of pages and the contents of the painting several times, the talkative painter suddenly realized: "Ah, that one, you say. The person who sold that painting to me was called Duan, and I visited I made a special trip to their home in a small shitty village. Let me tell you, there are no major families in China now. They all had their homes ransacked after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. . ."
"Oh, you asked about the painting. The family said that their family was very rich in the Ming Dynasty. In the late Qing Dynasty, the opium industry collapsed, and all their things and ancestral houses that had been passed down to his generation were sold. There were only a few paintings left in the ancestral hall. I paid over five thousand yuan for each of the ancestral portraits, so it was a good deed.”
Lin Yan couldn't care less about his business dealings, so he glanced at Xiao Yu and blurted out, "Are you willing to sell it? I study history, and I've been collecting similar paintings recently."
"I'm a painter, so I don't resell pieces, but. . ." There was a long silence. Lin Yan could almost hear the other party rolling his eyes, "But if you really want to buy it, I could consider reselling it as part of a personal collection since I've finished writing my book anyways."
Lin Yan asked about the price. Yin Zhou, A-Yan and Xiao Yu all stared at him. Even A-Che put down his snacks and huddled around him. Yin Zhou kept mouthing, "Lower the price." Lin Yan picked up a piece of cheesecake to shove in his mouth only to hear the caller say: "As you know, good quality paintings from this time period are rare. I wouldn't offer it if I didn't have a large collection. Because of this, and because there is some damage to the inscription, the price should not be less than 300,000. The specifics need to be discussed in detail.”
". . . You paid 5,000 yuan, yet you're trying to sell it to me for 300,000?" Lin Yan asked in surprise, "Forget it, then. Can you give me the contact information of the seller? It's a personal matter. Yes, it's very important. "
As soon as the painter heard that he wouldn't buy it, his tone immediately turned cold. He said that he had no information about the client. Lin Yan suppressed his anger and asked, "Are you afraid I'll expose you as a low-balling cheat? I'm the one in the painting. You took my painting to print in your book so you should be prepared for a lawsuit for copyright infringement."
The man grunted and rudely hung up the phone.
They all looked at each other.
"What should we do?" Lin Yan looked at the phone. "Should we try and call again, or should we each sell a kidney first?"
Yin Zhou swallowed the cake and tapped his finger on the table: "I have an idea."
"Aren't you the person in the painting?" Yin Zhou grabbed the phone and pushed Lin Yan into the chair, "Let's make our own!"
Yin Zhou transferred Lin Yan's headshot into Photoshop. Everyone gathered around to provide opinions on colour correction, contrast adjustment, and darkening, keeping very busy. After a while, a ghostly half-body photo appeared on the desktop, like a zombie that had lived for hundreds of years. His eyes were dull, his face was grey-green and swollen, and his arms were covered with bruises. Yin Zhou overlayed this photo and Duan Yihan's portrait, transferred it to his phone and pressed the send key.
"How's this?"
"We've tried everything we could. This person must have cheated others out of lots of money. As the saying goes, he who never wrongs others does not fear the knock in the night, so the painter should. Tsk tsk."
As soon as Yin Zhou finished speaking, a text message rang out, and a message popped up, which was an address. Looking carefully, it was a village not far from there.

Accompanying You for the Rest of Your Life
What a sweet name for a fig set, and how apropos. But I gotta say, A-Xu is NOT looking too happy with a certain someone!
It's hard to describe the expression on A-Xu's face other than unhappy. And no wonder, he's holding the evidence of the crime in his left hand.
In my mind, this is one of the in-between scenes between episode 36 and special episode 37, and is all about a certain someone getting an epic scolding after the shenanigans he pulled. The guilty looking shenanigan-er, meanwhile, is apparently trying to soothe the savage beast with a tune on the xiao - hey good luck, Lao Wen!
This fig set arrived, as most new PVC figs do, individually sealed in an airtight bag:
Tumblr media
Well, normally they are totally sealed, never mind the big hole there in this one. These bags are great because they protect the fig from dirt, water, damage of the non-crushing kind, etc. What they do tend to do, however, is kind of scrunch up around the fig, so they bend in any PVC parts that stick out. So Baiyi, for example, gets real bendy. I typically just run the part under hot water and gently bend it back into shape several times, and it's usually just fine.
Tumblr media
Baiyi is obvious because it sticks out, but I had totally forgotten about Lao Wen's xiao! So you can see it gained quite the bend. Oops. I'll have to go back and adjust that to be nice and straight.
Wow does A-Xu look distraught here, at least to me. Kind of shell-shocked, and no wonder, he's been through a whole lot recently. Lao Wen, on the other hand, looks kind of exhausted, which makes sense, as he's also been through a whole lot recently.
Am I clearly reading way too much into this fig set? Could be!
Tumblr media
Nice to see a rosy glow in those cheeks though, that's for sure. A-Xu is looking particularly small and cute in this side shot.
Tumblr media
Hmm it seems like I could probably bend the top of the Yin-Yang Book too to be a bit straighter too.
Tumblr media
You notice that Baiyi hits the ground? Seems to be a common issue with the figs with the swords held off to the side like this. Makes sense - making them shorter would ruin the effect. So even though these figs are stable on their own, I'll still put them on fig stands so there's some clearance there.
Tumblr media
You can see how these figs, like many with the robes to support them, are nice and stable on their own. No individual robe/pant details here - more of a straight block.
Tumblr media
I love the big swoosh of Lao Wen's bangs here - fig makers seem to definitely enjoy this hairstyle!
Baiyi isn't entirely straight here, but this is because it's hitting the ground, which bends it a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm betting that crockery is not gonna survive the beat down that's about to occur just now. A-Xu, I say you dramatically throw down the Yin-Yang Book at Lao Wen's feet to illustrate your extreme displeasure, throw the pots his way (which he can bat down with his xiao, which will explode in a showy shower of jade fragments), chase him across the mountain with Baiyi, cussing him out the whole time, and then catch him in your arms when he swoons from not quite being recovered enough. And then - scene! Roll episode 37.

Rusong: yea I am.

Yao: Huan, are you alright?
Xichen: *dazed* there were four of them. Omg.
And they tied me up with my own headband.
Xue yang: yea those Jiggies were so hot.
Mo xuanyu: I love them! But then we gave the four to lipsy, so that we can do our work properly
Su she: can't be drooling over the documents.
Yao: well I'm glad you guys had fun. And Huanhuan didn't get drunk.
Mo xuanyu: which was lame.
Su she: the lan behaved.
Rusong: *sneezes*
A-Qing: rich gege?!
Rusong: *sneezes again*
Yao: Song'er?
Rusong: I'm fine.
Yao: *feels his forehead* baby. you have a fever.
Xue yang: you did it again, A-qing. You got him sick.
A-qing: he got sick of you.
Yao: he becomes unwell whenever he travels, guys.
It's all due to change of climate.
Mo xuanyu: that's right. His uncle confirms.
I'm Dianxia's uncle.
Rusong: A-Die.
Yao: why didn't you tell me that you're catching a cold?
Rusong: I'm fine A-Die. Just need some rest.
Yao: *supports him* come Song'er, I'll take you to your room.
I will run a bath and tuck you in your bed.
Rusong: thank you.
Yao: team d. Get the physicians.
Su she: yea Huangdi, right away.
Afterwards, we have some stuff to tell you.
Yao: is it urgent?
Xue yang: we took care of the job already. So it's just hot news.
A-qing: I'll take care of him as well!
Yao: certainly.
A-qing: white gege taught me medicine.
Xue yang: and what about the person who popped you out?!
A-qing: yea yea, you taught me too.
You're good at cleaning up wounds, but Rusong doesn't have any.
Afterwards, Rusong is laying in bed with fever and a minor cough, while being attended by the best physicians.
Yao: *keeping an eye on his A-Song.*
Huangdi, Dianxia will have a quick recovery. There's nothing too serious.
*rests a damp towel on Song'er's head*
Rusong: see A-Die. I told you not to worry.
Yao: *caresses his face* I know my A-song is strong.
Now rest, darling. And your attendants are nearby.
Rusong: mhm.
Yao: don't run them ok, they know what's best for you. They're here for your comfort.
Rusong: I don't chase my attendants, A-Die.
Yao: haha, just saying. You should tell them when you're feeling discomfort.
You're my little Dianxia right? Hence you must be comfortable.
Rusong: *coughs* alright. I'll tell them.
Yao: I love you to the moon and back, A-song. Rest well.
Rusong: I love you too.
Yao: I'll order soup, for you dear. Now I got to go.
Rusong: ok.
~~
*in one of his sitting areas*
Yao: what do you have to tell me, team dimple?
*opens fan*
Su she: Huangdi, some Jin Sect members entered illegally into one of your districts. And in disguise too.
Your defense force had looked into it, and found out that they were paid by Madam Jin and Jin guangshan to break Zixun out of prison.
Yao: why all the fuss. *closes fan* they sent an army to rescue him. Haha.
They could have asked me and I would hand him over.
I don't need him.
What did you guys do?
Xue yang: I asked the fox spirits to possess them and gorge out their eyes.
Yao: excellent. Did they discard the bodies?
Xue yang: without a trace, Jiggy. You know me.
Yao: *hands him a piece of candy* good job.
Mo xuanyu: and it looked as if they went mad, so no one will know that they were possessed by fox spirits.
Xue yang: should we go carry Zixun back to Jinlintai?
Yao: not yet.
Song'er is unwell.
What if he and his goons have ulterior motives, and they're planning an attack. They may hurt Song'er.
Su she: I applaud you Huangdi.
Yao: mhm.
When he's in Jinlintai, he'll be under house arrest.
Su she: can I ask my sect members to guard Jinlintai.
Yao: yes. But stealthly.
.
Later, A-Yao came in with soup.
Yao: *blows, then feeds him* It's ginseng and ginger soup.
Rusong: mn. Delicious A-Die.
This will make me feel better.
Yao: yes it will, dear. Have some more.
*wipes Rusong's mouth*
Song'er, you should take some more rest. It will help.
Rusong: can you tuck me in? *puppy eyes*
Yao: aww, Song'er. That's why I'm here for. *rests the soup on the table. Then helps him lie down*
There's some soup remaining. If you want more, just ask your nearby attendants to serve you. As you're still weak.
Rusong: ok. As you say. *smile*
Yao: *tucks him in, and kisses his forehead then exits*
Rusong: I love you, A-Die.
Yao: love you too. My little fox.
A few minutes after, Rusong fell asleep. Then A-qing snuck in with the cloak (That Rusong covered her with) in her hands.
Rong: ah, Miss Qing. Sorry, Dianxia is sleeping. Don't disturb him.
A-Qing: I can see that he's sleeping! I only pretend to be blind.
I'm going to help him.
Rong: as you wish.
A-Qing: *whispers* Dianxia. I'm here Dianxia. *covers him up*
Rusong: *still fast asleep*
A-Qing: *affectionately looks at him* (he looks hella cute, with his chubby cheeks and pink lips)
Rusong: *waking up, but his eyes were stil shut* can you get me some more soup?
A-Qing: *startled*
Rusong: it's right there on the table.
A-Qing: *pretending to be a maid* yes Dianxia.
Rusong: who you calling Dianxia?! Aren't I your rich gege.
A-Qing: (how does he know it's me??) Hehe, I'll get you your soup, rich gege. Where's the medicine?
Rusong: it's already in the soup..
A-Qing: ohhh. *helps him sit up* are you comfy?
Rusong: mhm.
A-Qing: *goes to feed him soup*
Rusong: A-qing, *laughing* I can do it myself.
A-Qing: I know Dianxia. But I'm here to make things easier for you.
Rusong: thank you.
A-Qing: *feeds him*
Rusong: *smiling at her*
A-Qing: *heart racing* (A...Am I falling for him? Oh hell no. I don't like anyone. I'm not a simp. Or maybe I am falling in love.(
Rusong: that's enough soup.
A-Qing: *rests it down*
Rusong: you're really sweet. *coughs a little*
A-Qing: *supports him* Dianxia!
Rusong: *smile* I'm fine, Xiao Qing.
A-Qing: *sticks her finger in his dimple* are you sure?
Rusong: yes. Of course. Now I don't want you to get sick too.
A-Qing: my immune system is strong, rich gege! Because I ate a few expired candy by mistake!
Rusong: *laughing*
A-Qing: don't worry rich gege. *holds hands*
Rusong: mn. I'm going to take more rest. *lays down*
A-Qing: ok rich gege. I'll be next to you..
Rusong: but~~
A-Qing; *sits on the floor, hugs the end of his sleeve and rests her head on his bedside*
Rusong: *pats her head fondly, then went to sleep*

RWBY Comic Prompt
After they are finally done with the recent events of Volume 9, team RWBY had been given just enough time for them to process everything they had experienced in the Ever After.
Throughout all 9 volumes of the series itself, the girls themselves had been forced to undergo so much suffering. Yes, some parts of their story are light hearted and comedic moments but most of them are dark and tragic moments.
After being forced to undergo the possibility of Ruby Rose “Committing suicide” or, worse yet, being turned into someone who is not the girl they love and care about forever, the team could no longer bear it.
Yang Xiao Long would be the first one to cry. Not just cry but she wailed loudly at the top of her lungs with tears streaming down her face due to her fear of losing Ruby Rose forever. Of course, Yang’s loud and emotional act of sorrow would be followed by Blake Belladonna and then, Weiss Schnee, starting to wail loudly with tears starting to stream down their faces due to themselves also being scared of losing Ruby Rose forever.
Of course, Ruby would be shocked and confused by what her own teammates are doing and try to help them get a hold of themselves. But when she did, the three girls in question would pour out their hearts to the young girl. About what they were frickin terrified of what they was gonna happen to Ruby. The release of emotions might turn physical as they tried to let her know that all three of them would always love her in spite of her flaws.
After hearing her own teammates pouring out their hearts to them, Ruby would be overwhelmed by their confessions before she begins to cry loudly too. Apologizing to them for making them sad even though she was only doing what she had one for the “Good” of her team. But then, Weiss would hug Ruby and said that even though Weiss had always thought of Ruby as a dolt, sacrificing her own identity in order to become someone else is literally the stupidest thing that Ruby has ever done in her life.
And so, all of team RWBY would proceed to hug each other in one big warm cuddle. They would sob in each other’s arms as they felt each other’s fear and sorrow towards what’s going to happen to Ruby if she hadn’t made it back. They’re not gonna pretend that everything is going to be completely okay once they had reached to Vacuo. But...Whatever is going to happen to them, they are going to face it. Together.

Kissing Genshin Characters before you Die
Summary - Kissing the Genshin Characters one last time before you enter the battlefield.
Pairings - Reader x Albedo / Barbara / Bennett / Beidou / Chongyun / Diluc / Eula / Kazuha / Kaeya / Ayaka / Ningguang / Childe / Venti / Xiao / Zhongli
Warnings - Angst, death mentions
Tips - I wrote this listening to ‘Lovely’ and ‘Listen before I go,’ so it might make it better if you listen to both those songs while reading this :’) Both are by Billie Eilish btw, both reverb and slowed down songs for the extra angst
A/N - Im so tired, so so tired of human interaction and having no motivation to talk to people. Its like my social battery simply does not recharge, and I'm stuck writing about interactions I wish I could have, even if it's angst. Burying myself in the delusion that being in a different reality would change everything, burying myself in little imaginations and dreams of a love that doesn't exist.
Also yes, if you did notice the song lyrics playing at first are from "If the World was Ending," used to listen to that song so much. Thought it would fit this :)
“If the world was ending you’d come over right?”
It was absolute chaos, flames crawling up the wooden buildings and spreading smoke through the nation of Teyvat. Everything burned with the scorching heat, children crying, men and woman trying to run from the unescapable flames. Terror etched into citizens faces when encountering the monsters who appeared unaffected by the destruction.
Hilichurls and ruin guards smashing past people, till there was nowhere to run. And it was the mere decision of whether being beaten to death or burnt crisp was a better way to leave this world.
“You’d come over and you’d stay the night.”
But there you were, weapon in hand as you stood up against the blaze. Strong against the unblinking inferno in front of you, unwavering as you stood in front of the monsters that eagerly rushed towards you. Cut and obliterated in seconds, your eyes held nothing but a sickening disgust.
You slowly turned back to your s/o, relief quenching your heart when they were safe in the little location you’d found for them. They were injured, they wouldn't be sitting on the sidelines otherwise. And holding your weapon up again, you claimed the role of protector against the hoard of monsters.
“Would you love me for the hell of it?”
Their voice broke past your focus, a ragged sound that was suffering. It only took you a few strides till you reached them, crouching down to face them fully. Your faces were mere inches away, and you could see the frustration on their face. A deeply rooted feeling that fueled the action as they curled their hand around your head. Pressing your lips against theirs, one last kiss before you assumed the role of predator against the monsters.
“All our fears would be irrelevant.”
Both hands coming to hold their face, you pressed forwards into their kiss. Grasp tight against them, clinging onto them as if they were your lifeline.
“If the world was ending you’d come over right?”
You kissed them as if the world wasn't a aflame, like it was just you both sitting there. Hands grasping for their skin, for their lips, for them. Because without them you couldn't live in this smoldering world, a bright light that cocooned you in its comforting warmth. Nothing like the blazing flames that surrounded the two of you.
You kissed them like they were the only thing that mattered.
“The sky’d be falling and I’d hold you tight.”
But you felt the shake in their hands as they pressed their hand against your back, scared to let you go, scared to lose you. Scared to let this kiss end and have to face the scorching reality.
“And there wouldn't be a reason why.”
You pressed one last kiss to their forehead, basking in their embrace once more between you broke away. The look on your face was confident as you faced them one last time, softened by their teary eyes. Whispering soft words to them, you could only watch as they broke down, a tight feeling in your chest urging you to do the same.
But no, you had to be strong. For them, for yourself, for all of Teyvat. You slowly turned to the flames and monsters, holding up your weapon, screaming one last battle cry as you let your weapon lead your actions. As you let death become your only objective in a flurry to protect your partner.
“We would even have to say goodbye.”
Sobs wretched out of their throat as they watched you crumble, watched you fall the ground and collapse. Till the movement of your chest came to an abrupt stop, and monsters pooled at your sides.
They were forced to watch, unable to move.
“If the world was ending you’d come over right?”
Their cries turned to whimpers, until they couldn't hear the noises that spilled form their lips. Until they didn't care. What they cared about was thrown on their battlefield, beaten and ragged, torn and broken.
Dead.
“You’d come over… right?”
_-_-_-_-_
Albedo
He takes his time, hand on the back of your neck pushing you so hard against him till he’s woozy. Memorizing the feel of your plush lips against his, molding them into memory with every kiss. He’ll break away from your lips, pressing soft pecks up your face, along your nose, to your forehead. Infatuated with the way your hands gently hold his face, careful, delicate. He doesnt want to let you go, and with one final peck right between your eyes, he’ll close his eyes, whispering a goodbye as you leave. He doesnt open them when you die, he doesnt open them when the monsters reach him. No, he dies in your embrace, even if its not real.
Barbara
Desperate, oh so desperate. She doesnt know what to do with you when you press your hands to her face, tearful. You’ll have to be the one to initiate the kiss, muffling her cries with a short lived sweetness between the two of you. She’ll have her hands all over you, unsure of how to hold you, how to press you against her. She wants to stay like this forever, and even if her kisses are sloppy and messy, she’s crying too much to notice. She won’t break away, you’ll have to tug your way out of her grip and press one last kiss to her forehead. Her voice is angelic, even when she cries. You remind yourself that this is what you’re protecting as you enter the battlefield, giving it your all.
Beidou
Oh she knows, knows how this will play out. The kisses shared between the two of you are strong and compassionate, its more intense than any other kiss you’ve both shared before. Because she knows. She knows what’ll become of you and her, that this is the last kiss she’ll share with you, that there's nothing she can do about it. She lets herself indulge in you, her strong hold on you never letting go until you vocally ask her to let you go. You make her promises she knows you can't keep, but simply smiles, telling you to come back to her.
Bennett
Awkward, his hands will grab your shoulders when you approach him, pressing for a kiss immediately. He misses his mark, accidentally pressing his lips to the edge of your lips, noses bumping against each other as he tries to shift his face. You chuckle, holding his face as you adjust the angle, till you can fully reach his lips and press him against you. Like Barbara, he’ll cry, letting himself melt into you. He doesnt resist when you back away, whispering to him. Just sitting there he’ll cry, sob through it all, vision blurry with tears. But its better that way, he can picture you better when everything is fuzzy.
Chongyun
Everything was smoldering hot, too much for Chongyun who has so much yang energy trapped in him. He’s going through one of his rushes when you get to him, eager to tuck you into his arms. His kisses are sporadic, like he’s trying to kiss you but he cant. Like no matter how much his lips meet yours, it isnt enough. He wants more, he wants the promise of your forever embrace ingrained in his head. And when you break away, he’s left empty, the kisses he’d given you the only warmth on his lips. Suddenly everything was cold, so cold, and he only wished for you.
Diluc
Too rough, mashing your lips against his until you couldn't breath. Dizzy with the lack of oxygen, he didn't stop. You were ‘his,' right here right now, no one could take you away from him. You belonged alongside him, crouched in front of him, pressed into his arms where he could keep you safe. He wouldn't let you go, strong arms pulling you to his chest so firmly that you couldn't escape. He wanted to be selfish, he let himself indulge in the promise to himself that you weren't going anywhere. You’ll have to physically break out yourself, pressing back his hands as he tries to make a grab for you, tears brimming.
Eula
You were her everything, and she’ll tell you it through her kisses. She’ll run her hands along the curve of your back, holding you tenderly against her. She doesn't wish for vengeance for all the soft kisses you’ve stolen from her good days long ago, no, she’s willing to forgive you for everything as long as you’ll ‘stay.’ She promises that in all honesty, she loves everything about you, even if she denies it sometimes. And when you leave, she tells you to come back. That its the one and only thing she’ll hold against you if you don't.
Kazuha
Soft, so incredibly sensual with every touch. Kazuha was always filled with words, filled with lovely compositions made for you and only you. But now, he couldn't think of anything, no haiku he’d written in the past that compared to what he felt right now. Metaphors and hidden meanings couldn't compare to the raw pulsing throb he felt in his chest. “I love you,” he whispered, plain and simple. It held so much affection, he was afraid even those words weren't enough to express what he felt, but he settled with it either way. “I love you,” he repeated, brushing your lips against his before he said it again. “I love you.” He said it again, even as you left, entering the battlefield. He didn't stop saying it, not when he saw the monsters take you, not when they approached him with the promise of death. “I love you.”
Kaeya
He doesnt kiss you, because kisses to Kaeya are a sort of affection that brings the sense of normalcy. He likes the way your lips feel against his, but holding you against him is more special. He doesnt depend on kisses to express what he feels, instead pushing your head to his chest, sighing when your own arms come to wrap around him. No kisses, no touches, just you and him. Offering each other your last shreds of hope, because in the end, you only need each other.
Ayaka
“Look at me.” Her hand cups your cheeks just as you do to her. Now you both simply stare into each others eyes, love and adoration filling hers. She loves you, oh she loves you so much. But she understands duty better than anyone, the urge to protect you almost consuming her. When she kisses you, its soft, butterfly kisses. She doesn't rely on the contact to keep her grounded, no holding your face is a gift enough for her. To stare at you, even for one last time, is all she needs. You’ve given her so much, she would follow you to the ends of the world if you asked her to, and that's why it hurts her so much to watch you fall. She closes her eyes, noticing that she’d follow soon after and perhaps see you in the afterlife. No, she would, that's a promise she makes to herself.
Ningguang
Ningguang has delt with loss before, the concept isnt foreign to her. But you… you’re more than the jade chamber, more than any possession she has. You’re precious, like she sold a piece of her heart to you that she could never gain back. You took it from her, and you plan to take it with you to the battlefield. All she can do is press her lips against yours. Kiss you and the world beside you both becomes meaningless, until air becomes a chore instead of a necessity. Because without air she'd kiss you forever.
Childe
Details, in the case that Childe himself cant fight alongside you, he’ll hold you and repeat the details in his head. The way his hand feels on your hair, how soft or rough your lips are against his. How you fit against him, how badass you look out in the battlefield. He won’t stop you from leaving him, because he knows that if this case was reversed, he’d want you to let him go too. So he presses intimate kisses, slow ones that dont consist of a fight for dominance like they usually do. No, he wants to tell you how much he loves you, one last time.
Venti
He doesnt know what to do, pressed against you firmly. He presses soft kisses, but theres no emotion, he doesn't know how to express himself here. He’s lost a lot, lost so much in his existence, but nothing prepared him for this. Only after a kisses will he ask to cry, and when you tell him yes he’ll press his head against your shoulder. He’ll sob, hands gripping the fabric of your shirt as he does so. And then he kisses you while tears stream down his face, mashes your lips against his until his face grows numb. And he’ll continue to feel numb when you leave, when you die, when he dies.
Xiao
He doesn't know what to do, Xiao has never felt so utterly useless when you crouch to him. Form battered and bruised, when you embrace him he feels whole again. You’re his world, he doesn't care about the blazing inferno just beside you, the monsters that threaten all of Teyvat. You are his everything, what he strives to protect and keep safe. Kisses with him are breathless, both of you passionately pulling each other closer. He cant get enough of you, he wants all of you, every single piece. Molded into his embrace until you cant get out. When you break away, he tries to pull you to him, but he finds himself only able to move in the slightest. But Xiao is a protector, he is ‘your’ protector. He follows you as you head to the battlefield, dragging his limp body in a crawl to get closer. He doesn't stop when he sees the monsters overtake you, no, he continues. Just until he reaches your body, grabbing you and holding your corpse into his chest. He numbs out the monsters that attack him, knowing sullenly that he's going to die. But death doesn't seem so bad, not beside you.
Zhongli
As someone who always has control over the situation, Zhongli will be able to adapt quickly. But he doesnt want you to suffer, admiring you for being so strong when everything presses against you. He wishes to relieve the weight if only a little bit with a few kisses. Sensual and intimate, he wants to support you, and if he cant do it on the battlefield he’ll do it right here. Hold you close and promise you that he’ll always be there for you. Only after you die does he allow himself to cry, not wanting to have burdened you with his tears.

Top 5 moments where Xue Yang exudes the strongest amounts of "I desperately want to be topped" energy
oh my god, I love this question, thank you. (and here I am answering it forever later! that’s just how it goes sometimes)
with screencaps because a) xue yang’s face and b) I have to do something with all these screencaps I have stashed on my hard drive
1. the entirety of the interrogation scene but especially the “oh my GOODNESS the IMPROPRIETY” when wei wuxian is patting him down. like!!! he is flirting so hard and is absolute into this interrogation roleplay stuff and sure, wei-xiong, pat me down some more, maybe you can rip my clothes off while you’re at it, huh? huh?
Tumblr media
later on he’s going to be cursing about missed opportunities and also using said missed opportunities as masturbation fodder, thank you very much.
2. when nie mingjue is yelling at him, like, straight up. other people have talked about this including I believe it was @krispycreamsicle noting how this could be described as ‘xue yang kneeling for nie mingjue’ and, well. it could. he is just daring nie mingjue to do something about it.
Tumblr media
and that’s not even touching the look on his face when he’s got baxia an inch from his nose. yes there’s threats of death involved but that just makes it spicy, amirite
3. wheedling @ xiao xingchen about taking him night hunting. it’s the body language here. and obviously this is a different brand of ‘begging to be topped’ but it’s there and he’s angling for it, been there for like a week and he’s already sidling on into convincing xiao xingchen that he wants to do that too. he’s limping around, single, and ready to bone down
Tumblr media
what I can’t capture in screenshot is the way he sort of leans in toward him for a minute. come on, daozhang, I’m so sweet, wouldn’t it be so much fun to wreck me, I know you wanna
4. getting choked by wen ruohan. i’m sorry but also I’m not really. look, you knew who I was when you followed me. or if you didn’t you do now
Tumblr media
it’s not a daddy kink but it’s not not a daddy kink, you feel? sometimes you just want to get choked out and your boss is the only one who’s gonna deliver
5. talking to wei wuxian in yi city. he’d like to climb his necromancy idol like a tree but also...yeah.
I mean, he has this whole plan about bringing wei wuxian off to a secret lair somewhere where they will work together on bringing xiao xingchen back and you cannot convince me that there is not at least some sexual fantasy involved in this scenario. probably involving a power struggle which xue yang will ultimately lose but in a sexy way.
xue yang has meticulously constructed the details of how this will happen as a back up plan if wei wuxian doesn’t go for it out of the kindness of his heart.
Tumblr media
hey wei-qianbei now that you’re back from the dead wanna feel me up again
BONUS MENTION for his domestic goddess moment setting up dinner for his man because yes his man might be technically suicided but tell me this is not the face of a fellow psyched to have a nice dinner and get railed afterwards
Tumblr media
the makeup sex is gonna be great, you guys

The Oath of Love (2022) - Final Review
Tumblr media
I was neutral and a little critical of this drama in my first impressions review, but this drama and the main couple really grows on you.
It’s a simple drama with a lot of fluff, comparable to My Little Happiness. And there are also some comedic yet highly cringey, secondhand embarrassment moments that are common in Yang Zi dramas, comparable to Go Go Squid. After episode 23, it gets serious though. Lin Zhi Xiao and Gu Wei have their first major argument (due to Gu Wei’s terrible lack of communication skills) and her father’s condition is worsening. The storyline between Lin Zhi Xiao and her parents is really touching, and it really makes you reflect on your own relationship with your parents. I think this is what sets Oath of Love apart from your typical cdrama romcom. It’s truly a slice-of-life kind of drama with valuable life lessons.
Tumblr media
It’s also drama full of tropes, but Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan carry the drama well, and I also really enjoyed the little improvised bonus scenes at the end of every episode. While they were “in character” during these improvised scenes, it was clear that some parts of the real Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan came through and how they were borderline breaking character.
Tumblr media
In my first impressions review, I mentioned that Yang Zi has had better chemistry with other co-stars, but I now can’t decide if that’s true or not. She and Xiao Zhan are such a believable and natural couple (the way that they look and smile and each other really melts your heart, and Gu Wei is just so soft and gentle towards Lin Zhi Xiao), but at the same time, it doesn’t take away from the existing chemistry that Yang Zi has had with her previous co-stars. I’m thinking about how different her characters are in The Psychologist and Oath of Love and how she has amazing (but distinct) chemistry with both Jing Boran and Xiao Zhan.
Tumblr media
I found the pacing of the drama to be pretty consistent. When they finally got together, I surprisingly didn’t grow tired or bored of their interactions. I think it’s because the problems that they face are staggered throughout the drama. There are 2 love rivals that appear one after another, then they have to deal with facing their parents, and then the prospect of a long distance relationship, and then finally planning for the future. And on top of that, there’s a slow buildup of sexual tension. Some of the insecurity/jealousy scenes were a bit repetitive, but it was just enough so that it wasn’t too overdone. There is really only one major misunderstanding, and the relationship grows without the characters changing too much. Lin Zhi Xiao is the same bubbly, innocent university girl, and Gu Wei is still reserved but warm. But I did really appreciate her scolding Gu Wei. It was very grown-up of her and very cathartic to watch.
Tumblr media
There’s less skinship than in My Little Happiness (probably because of how popular Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan are, but then again, You Are My Glory had a lot of skinship despite the popularity of those actors), but it’s a bit more mature than Go Go Squid (Yang Zi is also hella adorable in Oath of Love). It’s more light-hearted and comedic than Forever and Always, and I think I’d rank it higher than You Are My Hero. You Are My Hero divided the screen time between 3 couples, and the main couple lost steam before episode 29. I think I enjoy Oath of Love more than You Are My Glory (the couple got together quite soon, and I’m not sure if I’d have watched it if it weren’t for Dilireba and Yang Yang). I was never a fan of Forever and Always, so there’s no comparison there. Go Go Squid was fine, but I didn’t like how clingy Yang Zi was in that, and even though she’s clingy in Oath of Love too, it just seems to work better? So in terms of slow, fluffy modern romance cdramas, I’d probably put Oath of Love only behind My Little Happiness. I went into My Little Happiness having no clue who the actors were, and yet I was really drawn into the story, so I think that’s a testament to how good the drama is on its own.
Tumblr media
(Edit: I started writing this review when I watched up until episode 23 (the online version), and after watching the last 6 episodes, I think the plotline with Lin Zhi Xiao’s father really elevates this drama past My Little Happiness, and I think that’s also why there are fewer explicitly intimate scenes since Oath of Love is more solemn. Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan’s chemistry never waivers though, and they’re always attached at the hip. Also, Xiao Zhan’s devoted and doting gaze is what makes the flawed Gu Wei seem like such a perfect romantic lead. I can see the appeal.)
I’ve read mixed reviews about this, with some saying that non-fans of the leading actors will find this drama to be okay, while fans will love this drama. I think I’m somewhere in the middle. I enjoy Yang Zi, and this is my first Xiao Zhan drama, but this is a drama that really grows on you.
Tumblr media
There are a lot of cute and sweet moments, but none that really made me want to urgently rewatch (or maybe I’ve reached a point where I’ve watched too many cdramas that I’m becoming unfazed). It’s a very idealistic drama that makes you go, aw, wouldn’t it be nice to have a partner to lean on. But at the same time it’s also very down to earth. It’s slow and predictable, but it’s the little moments that shine.
Tumblr media
Side note: It’s interesting how easily the story makes it so that Lin Zhi Xiao and Gu Wei, two completely different people, are able to adjust to each other and fall in love. In the c-movie world, most romance movies are about how couples grow apart and break up (I feel like it’s such a trendy genre recently). While it’s very common in real life for people with different careers to fall in love (I know several couples like this), Lin Zhi Xiao and Gu Wei are the ideal scenario.
Tumblr media
Edit 2: So I’ve done some more thinking, and I’ve realized that maybe I’ve been a little too harsh on this drama. It was filmed back in 2019 when both Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan were only just becoming popular. Back then, all of the dramas that I compared it too didn’t air yet. So in its defense, when Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan started filming it, the drama was pretty unique (medical romance with a slice of life approach, lots of kissing scenes, and openly talking about intimacy). Tropes aside, if it had aired on time, it would have been pretty refreshing. But alas, c-ent delays and controversies got in the way.
I still think the first 8 episodes (TV version) are flawed and weak, but I guess watching the rest of the drama made me forget my qualms with the first act. I watched some YT commentaries, which reminded me why I was so bothered about the beginning. Lin Zhi Xiao’s dad being a teacher and yet so unreasonable and doubtful of medical expertise, Lin Zhi Xiao being obnoxious, and Gu Wei just taking over a patient’s medical documents that another doctor is in charge of. Not to mention when her dad runs away from the hospital and they go look for him, but she suddenly has her period, and Gu Wei runs in to buy feminine hygiene products and is very awkward about it despite being a doctor. It just felt really random and contrived that they would pause the frantic search for her father so that Lin Zhi Xiao and Gu Wei could have a bonding moment thanks to her period.
Anyway, the drama still has some nice and cute moments, and it’s one that actually gets better in the second half.

pokegirl au) taking a break from jaune and nora's adventures we turn our attention to Tai-Yang Xiao-Long and his wife summer as they lay in bed. the clock reads three in the morning and the two are resting peacefully in each other's arms.
then the phone rings and tai groggily reaches for it "hello?"
"yeah, yeah okay, we'll come get her." with a sigh he looks to his wife "raven ran away again, saw a truck go past the house and started chasing it"
"not it" said summer, and as tai was about to complain summer simply said "gym leader privileges" and rolled over to go back to sleep.
when tai pulled up in his truck he saw raven the mightyana crying in the streets. this part wasn't so bad, she was just a little scared since he and summer weren't with her. no the issue was as they were driving back
"of course you would come to drag me back, you're weak and need me to protect you. well you won't be able to stop me from going free forever human! one day i will live wild as i was meant to!"
somedays tai wondered why he even went to go get her... oh yeah he loved her and had a daughter with her. she was family. now if only she would stop chasing every car that ran past the house before he had to buy her a leash.
how does the rest of the day go for the little family?
The Snarling Beast! Yang's Big Sister Duty!
Yang sat at the morning breakfast table, eating her toast and honey. She wiggled her round, fluffy ears, humming to herself while her baby sister, Ruby, picked at cereal pieces before swinging her arm to her mouth. Her mother leaned against her chair, a mug firmly gripped in her hands, as she lazily stared at the ceiling. Ruby's mom, Summer, sat across from Yang, next to Ruby, recording the girl as she loudly munched on her cereal.
"How is everyone's breakfast?" Her father asked with a smile as he entered with a mug in his hand.
"Ish goo ahee!" Yang muffled.
Her father frowned, then looked to her mother. She glanced to him, then let out a sigh. "Yang, don't talk with your mouth full."
Yang swallowed, then looked down. "I'm sorry."
"And don't apologize!" Yang reeled back, shivering from the sudden hostility. Her mother glared from across the table.
Ruby let out a wail. Summer immediately stopped recording and picked up the sobbing girl, shushing and attempting to console her her father was now glaring at her mother. With a growl, her mother left the table and the building, her black tail hanging low.
"Here, can you hold her for me?" Summer asked her father. He nodded and took the crying infant into his arms, then walked into the living room to attempt consoling her. Summer then approached Yang, kneeling to be face-to-face. "Are you okay?" Yang nodded, and Summer smiled. "That's good. Your mom is..." She shut her mouth and hummed as she placed her pointer onto her chin. "...complicated, but she means well. She's just... different." The pause between was faster this time.
"Does Mommy hate me?" Yang asked.
"No, of course not!" Summer answered sweetly. "She loves you, and she'll always love you. She's just making sure you grow up strong."
"Strong?"
"Mhm!" Summer nodded. "Strong people are people who can protect themselves. They do things on their own. But you know who the strongest people are?" Yang shook her head. "The strongest people," Summer took Yang's hands into hers, "are the ones who protect other people." She looked back to her father, holding Ruby, then back to her. "Like your sister. She's still a baby, so she can't protect herself. She's not strong enough yet. That's why I'm here for her, and why Daddy is here, too."
"I want to help, too!" Yang said with excitement. "I want to be strong and protect Ruby!"
Summer chuckled. "I know. One day, you'll become the strongest person in the world."
"Hi, Mom. I'm... I'm here to say good-bye, and... thank you. For everything."
Yang and Ruby stood on the cliff, looking at their mother's grave. The two had grown up much since the woman's passing. Her gym was now in the custody of their father, and her Pokémon fled to return to her pack, wherever they might be.
Ruby had grown much since then. Now a licensed Pokémon trainer, Ruby decided to take on the League challenge and become strong enough to take over at her moth- their father's gym.
With no Pokémon to guide or protect her, Yang stepped in to be her first Pokémon. The girl had blossomed (with the help of a fire dust crystal) into a beautiful and powerful Arcanine-woman. She was now ready to prove herself the strongest as Ruby and her challenged the League.
The two held each other for a moment before looking at one another and nodding. They pulled away from each other and stepped away from the grave, taking their first steps to a long and arduous journey.
With that, the adventure of a lifetime begins as the two make their way to Beacon to register for the Pokémon League.

Bumbleby Big Bang: Nov 14-17
Almost to the end now, folks! Here’s your second-to-last roundup post for the Big Bang, in case you’ve missed any of the amazing fic and art posted this week. We’re so impressed with the work everyone’s put in for this event!
Nov 6-9: Here Nov 10-13: Here
all the things you are

When Blake Belladonna moves to Vale and starts attending Beacon Academy, she expects another lonely year of tedious studying and a lack of friends. That is, until she comes face to face with Yang Xiao Long; the ill-famed delinquent who screams danger but in all the right ways.
Through a series of improvised drum fills and complex rhythms, Yang introduces Blake to the world of jazz alongside a mutual appreciation for music. With Yang’s exceptional drumming chops and Blake’s background in classical piano, the two of them quickly form an unbreakable bond of friendship that could potentially lead to something more.
a tale of flowers and flames

A few months ago, Princess Blake Belladonna ran away to join the White Fang, a group of bandits masquerading as rebels. When her worried parents ask renowned knight-errant Yang to find and discreetly retrieve the missing heir of the Kingdom of Menagerie, she accepts the quest with ease. But bringing a recalcitrant Blake home is harder than expected - especially when she has publicly challenged the leader of the White Fang…
The two of them embark on a journey across Remnant, and grow to care for one another in a way they never expected.

Blake’s the new kid at Beacon High. Well known for her athletic abilities as a field hockey goalkeeper, the team is itching to get her to play after their star keeper is injured, but Blake’s not sure she wants to take the field again. That’s when Yang Xiao Long – a high scorer for the team – steps in. Compassionate and understanding, Blake hopes maybe she can help her find the love for her sport again. And maybe find love in each other along the way.
Seasons

Blake never believed in soulmates, the concept just didn't make sense to her. Was it the person's soul or their life experiences that made them a perfect match for her? What would it mean if major events forever changed who her soulmate was before they even met? If there are alternate versions of her soulmate for every season, how many will Blake have to meet, care for, and fall in love with before her soul recognizes its other half?
Two Bees in a Lighthouse
fic by @the-velociruby
art by @shrugpony
Spending her life traveling without any true purpose, Yang Xiao Long finds herself working as a lighthouse keeper off the coast of Scotland. Before she leaves, Yang finds a strange and ailing woman, taking her in to get her back to health. The mystery person, Blake, turns Yang’s reality on its head when she finds out Blake’s a selkie, a folk creature which takes the form of both human and seal. Told that someone forcibly stole her sealskin, Yang promises to help take it back even when the culprit comes up to her doorstep.
One day at a time

Who cares if Yang isn’t straight? Blake isn’t some uptight douche bag who can’t handle her photographer being gay, or bi, or anything she fucking wants. Hell, she’s working for Weiss Schnee, and you can’t get gayer than that. And it’s none of her business, who Yang sleeps with. She just can’t believe her new partner would get hit on not even an hour after she met her. Yeah, that’s it. That’s what annoys her. Blake only aims to blend in, to watch from afar. Her job requires discretion, only stepping out of the shadows when necessary, but Yang shines so brightly there are no shadows to hide in anymore. Blake feels exposed next to her, because of her.
And she fucking hates it.
Or
7 days trapped with Yang Xiao Long in Rio de Janeiro.

It's the end of the eighteenth century, and Blake is embarking on her grand tour, a rite of passage. She expects to find art, culture, music, and new worlds -- she never expects to find love.
Castaways

For Yang Xiao Long, Weiss Schnee and Ruby Rose; they wanted to go take a break, a vacation in celebration of achieving a new chapter in their lives.
Blake Belladonna, however, struggles to find the courage to face her past as well as her parents whom she has not contacted in several years.
Sun Wukong just wanted to see the world and snuck into a cruise ship with the crew none the wiser.
Now these five young adults found themselves marooned on a desolate island. Together they find ways to survive and must rely on each other until help arrives.
