Ken Field
It came to my mind that what he said how he came into the field of Jazz music. He mentioned the artists that influence him such as John Coltrane and other groups, etc. And he is well aware that there is this sort of cultural appropriation for him, as a white man, to play Jazz, which is a black music. It reminds me of how I came into the field of Hiphop, many artists influenced me as well, like Eminem, Kanye West, etc. Because I write English lyrics as a yellow skin Chinese guy, I had thought about this cultural appropriation thing before too. I agree with what Ken Field said that we can incorporate our own cultural music into this form of music. Just like Wu-Tang Clan, a classic old school hiphop band, borrow the idea of Chinese Kungfu element into their name. As I continued to working on music, I tried to use different forms of traditional Chinese instruments (Pipa for instance) as well as words related, such as Fengshui.
I really like his idea when he mentioned the Cultural Construction that the four different artists should be in the four corner of the room instead of coming to the middle and form this homogenous feeling. For me, combining different elements of music into one is quite difficult, some iconic sound, or instrument dont always work well on each other. I tried in high school that to create this hiphop & Jazz fushion, with the help of my music teacher, it went pretty well and I like that outcome. From what Field said about this four-corner idea, I will pay attention in the future musical work on combing different styles. The key point is to showcast their individual characteristics.
Another point that I find interesting was that when Field talking about the cultural appropriation thing, he mentioned that many White musician would use the Black Blues Music, which developed in the black people's own enviroment, community, and the Whites just used that as a way of profiting. It related to how the music industry now, how white people were on the executive board and made decision. It also connects with the reading that during the period when sheet music is popular, many middle-upper class white people started to learn to play piano and it was a symbol of great taste.

This may be silly question but are you able to give a brief overview of your aus? I can't remember them and they look really interesting
ah, no worries!
Okay, aus!
Among us au: someone’s about to get shanked. Except there’s more too it then that.
Pokémon Au: Where Pokemon exist in this ah they help the ninjas fight crime along with be their buddies(The ninjas still have their powers in this Au).
Years apart Au: The au where after the 13th season there were no reasons for the ninja’s since most crimes were petty offense, and cats stuck in the trees so they disbanded and lived out the lives they could have never dreamed of living. In the popularity of the ninja’s disbanding(Which made the news) Cole accidentally became a celebrity off of that( keyword: Accidentally), Pixal went back to her roots in which Zane joined her in that so they now work for Borg industries.
Nya, Kai, and Jay operate their own workshop where they fix up things now with the help of Kai. Lloyd and Wu now own a tea shop while Misako works at a museum teaching about ninjago history. This is set 3 years in the future when they eventually need to fight crime.
A writing of it is actually here!
Elemental Master’s Au: An au where they’re all practically gods. I’m revamping this au and I’m teetering on the edge of what it actually is. There’s not much I can say about it.
Musical City Au: Cole has two childhood friends(moreover two people he views as older siblings since they knew each other most of their childhood) coming to visit him to meet up after so many years and also they’re in need of his help. After the reunion is all over they need his help since the city they live in (Musical city) is under threat. With a few protests from Angelica, they end up going only to come back in a worse condition than when they came in.
Of course, that isn’t the end of it.
Half Siren Au: Cole’s a half siren and his friends don’t know. Not including any of the cool water abilities, just the voice and looks and some other things.
Ignorance is Bliss Au: Don’t you wanna be evil like me? Don’t you wanna be mean~ Wanna make mischief your daily routine.
Hellfire Au: Lavashipping angst. So much angst.
Fushion au: I was bored

I decided to make two of my dearest original characters into dolls: Alex and Moonnya.
I’m....decidedly not as good at the physical visual arts as I am at the written arts or musical arts but I tried!
Materials:
Alex’s base doll was a Clawd Wolf (bought used off EBay)
Moonnya’s base doll is mostly a Toralei with the hands of a Scarah Screams fushion doll (that was missing most of her accessories except her tail belt) and a Kitty Noir’s tail (that I covered in yarn).
I used acrylic paint, yarn (so much), chalk pastels, paper and ink (printed the eyes but I drew them in a paint program), gloss mod podge, UV resin, 5-minute locktite apoxy, apoxy sculpt, fabric, paint markers, some left over quilt batting, 14 gauge wire, fabric glue, jewelry glue, hot glue, Mod Podge Acrylic Sealant Spray—Matte, Duraclear Matte Varnish, and so.many.fucking.feathers!
I made hair wefts from acrylic yarn following this tutorial of Mozekyto’s:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdXay72gpS0
and colored some yarn following this other Mozekyto tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SQOaUoQUEU
I also used an exacto knife to help me cut out the eyes to replace them with apoxy sculpt AND to help extract the hair.
Whoever was in charge of the glue machine when these dolls were made put it on EXTRA durable. I had a heck of time getting the old hair out.
I made the wig caps with some scrap fabric and matte mod podge. I couldn’t find my glueall. I made the actual wigs following stuff I’ve seen other dolly-tubers do—using hot glue and the back of my nails or my scissor blades flat parts to do the pressing to save me pain.
Doesn’t always work.
I go the idea to print eyes out and use them instead of trying (and failing) to paint irises from Dollightful (my favorite dolly-tuber!). So I glued them in place with gloss mod podge and then squeezed in the UV resin. Hit it with the lamp and not-half-bad eyes! Not good either but hey, for Moonnya one of the bubbles ended up over her eye shine so it almost works lol.
Moonnya I needed to do a total skin-tone change, so I used light peach FolkArt craft paint in thin layers before I blushed her and sealed her first with the mod podge spray and then with the duraclear. Worked out pretty well!
I also painted her ears and hair even thought with the wig and flocking, you can’t see under at all.
Making her tail furry was a spur of the moment decisions to make her tail match her ears. So after her eyes (which I did last for her) I dressed her up and gave her her crowning glory.
She does need a hair cut but for reasons I’ll get into soon, I decided to not tempt fate.
So Alex. He needed body mods for wings and a tail. Following a Kaypea Creations video for inspiration for the wings and various Dollighful videos for how to mod the body, I knew I needed to get holes made in the plastic. I did buy a hand drill for a different project but well...I don’t have a dedicated crafting space so I couldn’t find it. Same as not being able to find my glue-all!
Instead I got....creative.
Using a nail and pliers to hold said nail (after using an exacto to make pilot holes) I heated up the nail and melted the holes larger. I did this as safely as possible with ventilation and everything. I promise! Ex-girl scout’s honor.
So, then I go to use 5 minute apoxy and it doesn’t work like it should because the only place I can go is outside and outside is cold AKA not optimal conditions for well ANYTHING. I switched to Apoxy Sculpt and it only helped a little. I still had to go back later and add more locktite apoxy. This time the apoxy worked....because following application I brought Alex back inside and had him cure in my bathroom.
Prior to this I’d flocked Alex’s ears and used a paint marker on the inside. I also used a paint marker to draw a birthmark on his back and color his sclera white. So, head on his body (and detour to make his eyes at the same time and in the same way as Moonnya’s), it was time to deal with his wings and tail which had been wire bases of poking the shit out of me.
So, I began glueing with the jewelry glue and it was ok, but them I switched first to fabric glue partly for adhesion and partly to avoid sewing as much as possible (I recently had an accident with a sewing machine where the needle broke after puncturing all the way through my left index finger twice so the sewing machine could go jump off a cliff).
I did end up sewing a little but then I went back to hot glue and as much as I love hot glue and as many years exp I have in using hot glue guns, I still got burnt on the side of my middle finger. Second degree. makes it hard to type. It hurts almost as bad as last month’s sewing needle incident, but takes a lot to top two straight through wounds.
After other disasters in my life I finished with glueing Alex’s wings and tail together with a mix of fabric and hot glue to bind the fabric, batting, yarn wefts, and feathers (SOOOO MANY FEATHERS) into a construction I didn’t realize would be so heavy. Alex’s posed like that because otherwise the wings start to droop. Like Moonnya I gave him his hair in the end and after I burnt myself and other mishaps I had today I was like “his hair cut can wait for a day when I’m a little less of a Disaster-Crafter.”
Still, I got it done! I don’t have many in progress photos because I’m just not good at that and a lack of a crafting space means I have no idea how to ever set up anything to capture images or footage that doesn’t make things look bad.
I still managed that semi-photo shoot, thought!
They hold hands at the end (sort of) because they’re quite literally my dolls and I say so lol!

Today’s BenidormFest’s final, in which it will be decided which song will represent Spain in Eurovision. These are my favorites.
1º Terra (Tanxugueiras)/SloMo (Chanel)
These two get the first post because I just can’t chose which one I like the most.
Terrra was my favourite from the very first minute I listened to the song. I love the fushion they make of traditional and modern/electronic music. The voices, the tambourines, the jewlery, the dance, they truly are a really good representation of Spanish folklore, specific of the region of Galicia, but easily recognisable for all Spaniards, as it shares a lot of elements with traditional music from all over Spain. It is a chance to show our traditions to the rest of Europe, and at the end of the day, we have to chose a song that represents Spain, right? There’s no better representation of Spain’s tradition and culture this year other than Terra. If anything, I love it is in Galician, because it sounds genuin, as it is a Galician group with a Galician folk song, but it saddens me a bit most Spaniards don’t understand the lyrics when listening to the song. Hope RTVE uses subtitles so all Spaniards can understand the song that is representing them. One fear: they really need to improve their staging. And don’t get me wrong, I love their concept (and I know there are people who don’t like it, but I do, A LOT, and so does my mom, and you just can’t contradict your mom u.u), and I think they shouldn’t change it at all, it goes with the song and the personal style of the singers, but they need to make the staging a bit less caothic, and find a good camerman XD. But don’t fret, there’s time for improvement, I don’t think we should get stuck on the mistakes of a rush rehearsal when they still have 2 months to make changes and improvements.
Now, to be perfectly honest, I didn’t like SloMo the first time I listened to the song. It sounded like just another cheap reggaeton song that could represent any other country, or none at all (unless it is Cuba or Puerto Rico), and I didn’t feel it “Spanish” enough (I’m a patriot, as you can see XD). However, I think we should all admit Chanel was just great on stage. She was superb. I have the feeling that the song sounded better in the live concert than it did in its recorded version. The singer is a great performer, she brings strength, sensuality, and grace to the song, and not only with her awesome and stunning movements and dancing, but also with her singing. And let’s not forget Eurovision is mainly about singing, but not only. The staging was phenomenal, and it certainly can be even better in Eurovision, I really think she is a very decent and respectable candidate to represent Spain, and I’m certain she will do very good at Eurovision. And I know this type of song has been seen in Eurovision before (we all remember Fuego), but I genuinely think none was as good as this one, nor can compare in choreography and staging. I really went for “not too bad, but very plain and not too representative” to “this is just a great show all together, she’s so hardworking and such a good dancer and singer, the entire package, she deserves to win”.
2º La calle de la Llorería (Rayden)
I really liked this song and together with Terra was my initial favourite one (in the chorus it also has a traditional vibe to it). I still liked it a lot, and although I enjoyed the beginign of their live performance, something seemed off later on. The chorus didn’t sound quite right (though maybe it was just me), and the staging was great at the begining, but felt a bit flat afterwards. The singer still did great, and it’s obvious he’s really good at performing as well (no need to dance, like Chanel XD), his voice alone fills the room, and he keeps a good pace, energy and strength throughout the song. The biggest problem I see is that the lyrics are a good part of the song’s appeal, and that's kinda lost to international viewers in Eurovision :(
3º Secreto de agua (Blanca Paloma)
Her voice is enchanting. It really is. She has such a pretty, powerful, yet delicate haunting voice (in the good sense of the word). There's not much I can say about her, you have to listen  to her to know what I mean. The song is really really pretty, problem is... it's too slow. I’m not sure a song like her’s would do good in Eurovision, and it is certainly not the type of music I usually listen to. However, she would be a very deserving representative of Spain, and I’m sure she would nail it in Eurovision, becasue she’s just perfect. Her staging was also pretty good, no big fush, nor fire works (Sobral sure would like it XD), because there’s just no need for them. No ornaments needed, just the singer and her voice. And a nice wattery colour on the floor and the background.
I’m really hoping for one of these four to win tonight, and it saddens me to know we can only send one of these (I seriously cannot decide between Terra and SloMo, my heart says one thing, my body says the opposite XD). Anyway, good luck to all the contestants.
