✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ♠️DEUCE BIRTHDAY SSR FLOWER ANALYSIS* ♠️*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
*Mandatory reminder that I’m no flower specialist, which means these are all very subjective opinions. Take everything with a grain of salt!
Poppy anemones, also known as windflowers, symbolize loyalty and the fragility of life – with its name referring to either the wind that helps blow the flowers open, or their susceptibility to wind. The blue color gives them the meaning of protection (against evil), though anemones in general are known to provoke feelings of expectation and excitement. They’re one of the flowers that open during daytime, but close again at night, so they’re ideal gifts for those coming of age, or currently about to start a new chapter in their life.
Deuce has blue hydrangeas, which carry the meaning of forgiveness, rejection, and regret, and are typically gifted when you’re looking to apologize, or to symbolize a new starting point. In Europe and the Victorian Flower Language they’re symbols of arrogance and boastfulness, but nowadays, they’re more commonly understood to show understanding, gratitude, or even as a way to express your concern for the recipients’ feelings (which is derived from their Japanese meaning).
Blue carnations are relatively new flowers that don’t grow naturally, and thus don’t have much history. However, they’re associated with peace, truth, and devotion. Carnations in general are synonymous for affectionate feelings for someone loved and adored. They’re a symbol of distinction, creativity, and uniqueness – and a popular gift for Mother’s Day. (Interestingly, in the Netherlands they’re associated with defiance and rebellion.)
The gentiana scabra in his bouquet represent justice, accuracy and victory because of its upward flowering shape. Another reading is that of lonely love, or loving someone who is sorrowful, or that of chastity.
Cornflowers are symbols of reliability, anticipation, prosperity, devotion, tenderness, and love. Depending on what color you believe Deuce’s flowers to be (because color-picking in photoshop has revealed them to be a lovely indigo – so exactly between blue and purple): blue cornflowers carry an additional meaning of hope, and striving for the unattainable, while their purple variation symbolizes power and dignity.
The small, white flowers in Deuce’s bouquet are either lupines or larkspurs. Lupines are used to symbolize growth and change, strength and protection, as well as transformation and renewal. They represent a passion for life and different experiences, and inner strength since they’re resilient and durable and one of the few flowers that can grow in any soil. White lupines also stand for self-sacrifice, selflessness and forgiveness, and are symbols of compassion for others. Although highly subjective, many believe lupines to be astrologically connected to the signs of Gemini or Cancer (with Deuce being a Gemini). Larkspurs, on the other hand, are symbolic of swiftness, strong bonds, and a beautiful spirit. They’re associated with lightheartedness and youth, as well as a desire for lightness, or simply a pure heart. White larkspurs are typically seen as symbols of happiness, pride, and joy.
Clovers are signs of protection and are believed to be charms against negativity and hexes. They’re closely associated with good fortune and luck, but can also carry the meaning of success, fidelity, joyfulness, and lightheartedness.
Naturally, these are only my un-educated guesses, but feel free to let me know if I got anything wrong/what flowers I might’ve missed.

Now that FFXV is Officially Dead I’d like to reiterate that every good tragedy is earned, not forced through the plot, and FFXV earned absolutely goddamned none of its tragedy throughout its entire story, least of all its “canon ending”.
A well-done tragedy makes sense with the character’s actions; if it has to happen, it happens because of ( or despite ) the character’s best efforts, which requires their best efforts to actually be shown on screen rather than them acting like a bunch of shoddy horror movie teenagers taking stupid action after stupid action. The tragedy makes the audience sad for the loss of a character they’ve come to care for, but ultimately the audience can nod and say “it makes sense”, as the character would have taken no other route because their action is part of who they are and therefore consistent with their character. And again, FFXV has none of that.
FFX had Yuna want to defeat Sin at the cost of her own life because she thought the smiles on other people’s faces was worth the sacrifice, and as she went on her pilgrimage and witnessed the events in Kilika and Mi’ihen, it only strengthened her resolve to defeat Sin so that no more people would die, even if that peace only would last for ten years. Near the end, she turned away from the sacrifice option because she learned it would cost not only her own life but the life of one of her friends, meaning she would sacrifice an additional person that wasn’t aware that they would die beforehand and wouldn’t have made that choice themselves up until that point.
FFX also had Tidus, on a personal quest to return to the Zanarkand he left behind supposedly one thousand years in the past. He learned close to the end of his journey that he was a “Dream of the Fayth”, basically the figment of self-sacrificed religious figures from the actual Zanarkand of a thousand years ago, and that the permanent defeat of Sin would also end his own existence. He was allowed to come to terms with it while he continued to interact with the other characters he was traveling with, then broke the news to everyone in the end and disappeared exactly like he said ( and it was told to him ) he would. Then FFX-2 happens, but whatever.
Noctis, on the other hand, is traumatized and guilt tripped into the sacrifice by a God ( see: BAHAMUT ) that never showed up to help the people/country He was supposedly the patron of ( see: INSOMNIA ) and can’t even land a single hit of its ultimate attack against the One Astral that it’d fought against in a war 2000 years prior ( see: IFRIT ). Then Noctis is held hostage for ten years, unable to interact with anyone else he knows until he “comes to terms” with the fact that he “needs to” commit suicide before ever having actually done anything for his country and the rest of the world. He’s not even doing it to save a specific person in his group that would die otherwise, he’s dying because he owes it to already dead people who gave their lives for him that he’s not even aware of. And even their sacrifices are the result of a lie.
Would Nyx have put on the Ring if he’d known beforehand that Luna would die weeks later anyway in a completely preventable death ( see: GENTIANA ), and the young king he was telling to “rule well” would lose ten years of his life then die anyway not having ruled a damn thing?
Would the citizens of Insomnia have accepted this if they’d known that Regis agreed to a treaty he knew was suspect and sold them out for one person who would die anyway ( see: NOCTIS ) and whose greatest act would come only after the world was turned into a hellscape for ten straight years?
Would Luna have even bothered with all this nonsense if she weren’t being told to do so since the age of 4 by a goddess that proceeded to do absolute fuck all to save her from the worst events in her life ( see: GLAUCA, CALIGO, ARDYN ), and only ever showed up to reaffirm her connection to a boy she first hadn’t even met yet and then later didn’t even know all that well, with all affirmations happening absent the presence of any other adult/elder figure ( see: SYLVA, REGIS, RAVUS, “UNNAMED VIA/NOX FLEURET DAD” )?
I’m not even going to ask about Ignis putting on the Ring, because, here’s the Hellfire take, the “canon” route was him acting a whole fool thereby turning himself into Male Luna, complete with keeping the truth from Noctis about the fact that he’ll die sooner than he thinks, and featuring other hits like letting Gladio act like a socially maladjusted five year old, especially in a train full of people where Gladio’s oh-so-mature rant against Noctis thereby reveals the Prince of Lucis's location among potential enemies in plainclothes as opposed to keeping a low profile. The V2 route was Ignis actually remembering he's the strategist of the group that thinks with his head, bides his time, makes plans, and gathers knowledge before acting, and gets rewarded for that work. Considering he puts on the Ring in both the “Canon” and V2 routes, that he’s willing to give his sight and his life for Noctis is not in question. It’s whether he takes the action too early and effectively wastes it at the behest of Scaly Asshole God and the idle threat of Trash Hobo Jesus that’s the matter.
So in case it needs restating, the “tragedy” in FFXV wasn’t earned in the least and every retcon they kept adding to it, short of negating the deaths entirely, made the “sacrifice” even less sensible.
Luna held Ardyn’s hand for an entire half-minute in Altissia while she was talking to him. Ardyn didn’t seem the least bit affected and slapped her. She died. Then later she showed up from nowhere, despite no evidence or foreshadowing that she would be in the Astral Realm/the Beyond, and touched Ardyn for only one second, which seemed to be enough to significantly weaken him. Again, no evidence she would be there or that that realm was someplace she was allowed to have an actual presence. Then the Retcon Edition decided that she would appear in the realm of the living with her powers perfectly intact, to summon all of the Astrals, even the ones she didn’t personally meet or awaken ( see again: BAHAMUT ).
So uh, what gives? How is Luna more powerful as a spirit than she was when she was alive? If she could show up on Eos instead of being confined to only the Astral Realm, why didn’t she show up while Ardyn was laid out after his and Noctis’s Battle of Kings to purify him then? Or couldn’t she die earlier than Chapter 9 ( say, during the Invasion of Insomnia? ) and remain in ghost form the rest of the game, if she can do the exact same things in either state anyway?
No problem, she shows up, summons the presence of Astrals she isn’t actually needed for since Noctis had all their Marks already and could call upon them himself. Disappears conveniently, doesn’t show up for anything else her powers could actually sensibly be used for, allows her betrothed to undergo an overblown suicide ritual by ancestor. The game tells us this sacrifice absolutely needs to happen, not really because Noctis wants to and he decided to for the good of everyone, but he’s told he owes it to people. He’s obligated to pay a blood price brought about by actions and events prior to his even being born.
Did this suicide-by-ancestor need to happen at all? Until “Episode Ardyn” comes out, the general consensus ( I su-fricking-ppose ) was that he was supposed to give his life the same way Noctis eventually had to, and simply chose not to and circumvented the sacrifice with unintended use of whatever special Oracle-like gift he had on him. Evidence doesn’t bear that out, though, because the Starscourge was not as bad then as stated in the official timeline of Eos ( “Epidemic disappears with the King’s success” / “the plague subsides by the King’s hand” ) and the fact that the Scourge comes across as a “new life form” to the people of Eos. That, and the Kings that Noctis needed to perform elaborate suicide-by-ancestor literally did not exist in Ardyn’s time for him to be killed with. One of them is his brother, and all the other ones are great/grand/nieces and nephews of his thereafter. So it would be impossible for him to have sacrificed himself like Noctis, but the Scourge was still reduced to such a negligible phenomenon that it needed to be rediscovered in some ancient ruins almost 300 years prior to the start of the game and it still wasn’t weaponized or a huge problem until around 30 years prior to the start of the game, at which point the plague spreads rapidly to the extent that the very soil is infected and mutating frogs and other local wildlife, according to one researcher studying the Scourge ( see: SANIA YEAGER ).
But then Ardyn also has a plethora of Royal Arms, including the Sword of the Father, and Arms that Noctis doesn’t get at all, so he must have acquired them after all those respective Kings lived and died and were buried with their Arms, but before Noctis could embark on his own trip to gather the grand total of 13. It’s already acknowledged that there were more tombs scattered around Lucis but that they and their Arms are lost for whatever reason. But there’s really no way Ardyn could have had the time to do all that--
oh no, wait, Episode Ardyn’s trailer shows that Ardyn was discovered by a young Verstael about 30-something years ago, and from that point he was free enough to make the presumable trek across Lucis to get all those Arms and vandalize the tombs so that Noctis couldn’t get the same, awaken Ifrit despite not being an Oracle, infect Ifrit with Space Malaria ( see: STARSCOURGE ), and eventually challenge Regis in a Lucian standoff, the same Regis who then has a senior moment in Kingsglaive and forgets who Ardyn is and needs an introduction ( ????? ) to the guy that attacked him years ago when that same guy traipses into the throne room and makes an impossible demand.
The gods allowed that to happen because of bullshit “Prophecy” instead of letting Ardyn rot or leading the Oracle and King of the time ( see: REGIS AND SYLVA ) toward Ardyn’s prison so they could purify him while he was still weak and emaciated. The gods let the Accursed Enemy fall into the wrong hands ( see: NIFLHEIM, VERSTAEL BESITHIA ), come into power, awaken one Astral ( see: IFRIT ) and kill another ( see: SHIVA ) and gimp their only chance to save the world they claim to care about so much -- again, Ardyn has more Royal Arms than Noctis does, even ones Noctis couldn’t acquire and the player is unfamiliar with ( dat scythe ). Niflheim’s control over the daemons was also bolstered enough by Ardyn’s presence and his contributions to their research, that they released the Marilith to attack Noctis when he was a child and give him a near-fatal injury, which crippled his ability to harness the Crystal’s power to its full potential. This isn’t even speculation, you guys. This is actual ( extended ) canon. Ardyn was allowed to make shit worse for everyone.
Anyway. Noctis had to be stabbed by his ancestors to take in their spirits and then painfully get them out of his spiritual form when he made it to the Beyond … except for the fact that he already had their Royal Arms within him ( he acquired them painlessly the first time around, I should add ), and that the Ring should have all their spirits already within it ( including the Mystic/Somnus who is the Founder King/Ardyn’s Brother and part of the Old Wall ). They shouldn’t even need to enter him twice– they did it the first time when he got all of their Arms, and the weapons are as ghostly ten years later that they were in the beginning, so how are they actually killing him, again?
But, sure, let’s assume they needed to get into the Astral Realm/the Beyond, and had to use Noctis’s corpse/spirit as a ferry ... except not really, because Noctis spent ten whole years inside the Crystal, whose realm is identical to the Beyond where Noctis, Ardyn, and Luna ended up in when they died. They only needed to hitch a long enough ride until Noctis went into Crystal sleep, leave him, then wait for Ardyn there whenever he appeared so that they could stab him to pieces instead of being absorbed into Noctis and then ejected painfully. It’s not like their actual spirits were needed for the Ardyn battle in Insomnia; they didn’t do jack shit to help Noctis in the “Battle of Kings” and they didn’t do anything against Ifrit beforehand either -- and the Astrals didn’t do anything for either fight as well, and mobilized better to take down one measly shield over the Citadel! Lazy jackasses.
But sure, let’s assume they couldn’t simply leave the Ring of Lucii while Noctis was in Crystal sleep ... except the ending clearly shows that part of the suicide ritual involves the Astrals’ spirit forms converging into a portal, connecting the throne room to a realm that the deceased Kings descend from ( you mean like a ... Beyond? ) so that they can then stab Noctis to death with their respective weapons. So the Kings came from this spirit realm ... to kill Noctis ... to then go into the spirit realm ... the same realm that they were already in and that the Astrals had access to ( you could call this, the, I don’t know, the Astral Realm, then? ) ... instead of staying exactly where they were while Noctis transported himself into this Astral Realm/the Beyond via some other method, such as… maybe…. going through the exact same fucking portal the Astrals created that bridged the gap between living and spiritual worlds to begin with, seeing as that’s what it does.
I mean, considering these dead spirits were corporeal enough to stab a living person to death, and then both Noctis’s and Ardyn’s spirits could somehow suffer an additional death while there, dying in the same way living bodies would by either disintegration or repeated stabbing and dissolution, it doesn’t matter if the body in their ghost realm isn’t dead going in, because both ghostly and living things have the exact same level of corporeality and therefore physical effectiveness on the environment around them!
But sure, let’s assume they needed to appear to Noctis and kill him so that all of them would meet Ardyn in the Beyond ... except for the part where killing Noctis means his spirit is trapped in the Ring, and in the same place all the other Kings are, which is identical to the inside of the Crystal, which is identical to the Beyond, where Ardyn was waiting. So that realm was already in the Ring to begin with, and somehow the Kings could not go into that realm themselves at literally any point during the game even though their spirits were absorbed into the Ring post-mortem and their Arms were acquired any point before the Chapter 13 time skip.
But sure, let’s assume that there was something special about Noctis that required he be with them– perhaps like the Royal Arm of Regis, the Sword of the Father ... except Ardyn also has the Sword of the Father in his Armiger arsenal even when he left Ravus’s corpse with it for Noctis to get it, and he has more weapons besides, and the Kings apparently let him have it because of their blood relation unless otherwise stated ( I mean, did Ardyn use his Villain Sue powers to braaaaiiiinwash them into giving him their Arms against their better judgment? Why would they do that at all? They don’t seem very cognizant of ... anything, to be honest! ), so ... uh, what was making Noctis special? The part where he’s not Scourged? He was attacked by a demon already and sent into a coma, afflicted by something he needed to be taken into Imperial territory to heal from instead of seeing any doctor ( what doctor? ) or Regis using a King sigil for healing magic ( see: COMRADES ) so he’s not immune to the affliction, but he was healed by an Oracle, which, oh hey, uhm, wasn’t Ardyn eventually purified by an Oracle at the end point of his life anyway? Good golly, a shame that couldn’t have happened at any point prior to any of this bullshit happening!
But sure, let’s assume that Ardyn possessing more Arms than Noctis does isn’t relevant ... so in a hypothetical scenario where Noctis had Ardyn’s Armiger, or acquired more weapons than the 13 he ended up with, how many Kings would he be stabbed with then? Was he meant to hold out against every single one? What if all 113 Kings had Arms, and he found all of them without fail? How long would that suicide ritual take? He definitively died with the last stab out of thirteen, five score more would be ridiculous, and Ardyn could probably revive himself by that point, so ... ?
Or maybe, we can more safely assume that the writing to get Noctis to this point was contrived as fuck and made no sense, where he neither had a real choice to give his own life, wasn’t allowed to live otherwise, no one around him made their best efforts to save the life of their supposed best friend/brother figure/betrothed even if they weren’t actively lying to him by omission or otherwise taunting him into the act, and any alterations to the details of his death or giving it any more thought makes it fall apart.

nine of swords - luna
So this one gave me a fair amount of trouble! First was picking out which of the Six fit Luna the best. Shiva would be the obvious answer, but I also felt like Shiva fit someone else better (she’s next in the series so you’ll see who then). Leviathan also has a strong connection to Luna – she’s the only one of the Six that we see Luna commune with, and she plays a role in Luna’s death due to the chaos her summoning creates. The ocean and the moon are often connected in poetry and art, and the sylleblossom/water imagery from the game was really powerful.
Most of all, I think Leviathan has an interesting dual nature that I think mirrors Luna in a lot of ways. In Altissia, the Tidemother is introduced as an angelic, merciful figure, and many of the statues depicting her are wearing long dresses nearly identical to Luna’s Altissia gown. But when Leviathan is summoned, we see her as ravenous, vengeful, destructive, and angry. Like Altissia’s statues, the game highlights Luna’s grace, devotion, and mercy and erases her darkness, but it’s a huge part of who she is. Luna’s darkness ties into the choice of card as well. The nine of swords is all about hope, despair, and trauma; the Rider-Waite card shows a woman sitting up in bed, with nine swords arrayed in the darkness behind her. It’s a really striking card, given the use of negative space and the stark black background. The cards on either side of it – the eight and ten of swords – are also about similar things, but I felt like this one is best for Luna.
Because Luna’s devotion to her duty is driven by her hope for Noctis and her determination to save the world, but her duty is also the source of all her despair. It costs her her mother, her childhood, in many ways her brother, and ultimately her life – her hope and her despair are entangled, and she’s never known one without the other. She may not have witnessed the moment of Sylva’s death, like Ravus, but nothing about it would have been kept secret from her. Even when we meet her, as the child she is in the card (about twelve or thirteen), she already knows that Noctis is chosen, and thus so is she – does she already know they’re both fated to die? Either way, she’s already taking on the burden of supporting and guiding Noct. And then the Empire attacks, Regis and Noct flee, and she is imprisoned. Her treatment at the hands of the Empire isn’t clear, but at the very least it involves isolation and the constant threat of violence.
We see her healing people, hear about her travels and her blessings, but never see her with friends or peers, just Pryna, Umbra, and Gentiana. No one who chose Luna for Luna’s sake, just for her role as the Oracle. By the time we meet her again, she is pursuing her duty and her death at full tilt, bowed occasionally by grief but never hesitation. And why should she hesitate, really? What life and warmth of her own has she ever had? Her marriage was a last grasp at the fading light she’d known as a child, to a man she had only spoken to in letters, whom she had never known as an adult. It was a fairy tale, and she knew it; and like all fairy tales, the princess’s wedding was also her funeral, marrying her off and shuffling her off the stage in one smooth motion.
So Luna, like Leviathan, has a dark side, an empty void to match her endless mercy. My first version of the card ended up being very busy and action-packed, and highlighted Luna’s badassery more than her vulnerability, so I tried again with this one. To fit the mood of the card, I tried to make it dark and dreamlike, with some painterly and underwater effects. Leviathan is a shadowy figure haunting her and looming up from the darkness. Rather than depict the swords literally, I used an image of the Oracle’s trident, since it’s ultimately her destiny, more than Ardyn or the Empire, that gets her killed. And of course, Luna is depicted as a child, hunted and lost but shouldering a massive, lonely burden.
I think it’s her loneliness that resonates with me the most. Noct had something like a normal life, with friendship and adventure and camaraderie. Regis shielded him and made sure of it. But Luna had no shield, no friends, and only a broken little family. Her death was never a secret from her. Before she was a badass woman who brushed aside a rifle and marched off to meet her destiny, Luna was a scared, traumatized little girl who knew she had no future in the world. But she laid down her life to save it anyway.

So, happy things for Second Chance for Happiness
The night before everyone wakes up as their past selves, a light flashes through Eos for a split second.
Hunters from all over report that any daemons they were fight just... disappeared completely.
The coming weeks after, more and more people report no daemon sightings, even in caves and mines. They’re completely gone.
Ardyn coups the Emperor after a couple years and actually starts negotiating real peace.
Ravus and Luna talked him into it.
Ardyn is still a troll and the nobles deal with so many pranks and headaches.
Gilgamesh is freed from the tempering grounds, he goes off into the wilds and becomes a hermit.
Ardyn still managed to fill where he lives with glitter bombs.
He won’t kill his brother’s former shield, but he will fill his life with glitter he can never get rid of fully.
Ardyn ‘accidentally’ forgets to hide his magic and summons a bottle of wine from his armiger the first time he meets in person with Regis as Emperor.
Regis, Clarus, and Cor end up frozen in shock for a good few minutes.
Noctis: You broke them.
Ardyn: Not my fault your family tree isn’t accurate.
Regis believes Ardyn is either a half brother he never knew of, or the child of a half-sibling Mors didn’t know he had.
Ardyn says nothing on his origins as it’s amusing.
He does insist Noctis should refer to him as uncle though.
It only slips out once after a year, Ardyn never lets them live it down.
Prompto gets to stay the night the day he was snuck into the citadel.
The Chocobros camp out in Noctis’ game room in a pillow fort and cling to each other.
So many hugs that night.
They needed those hugs.
Regis found them the next morning asleep in a pile, and takes a picture of the moment.
When Clarus ends up with custody of Prompto, he finds the camera from the road trip that had been kept in the armiger.
He looks through what’s saved on it and is so confused. The adults in these pictures look like Prompto, Noctis, Ignis, and Gladio.
He ends up taking it to Regis.
He panics because Noctis’ magic is all over this camera.
Prompto is at the manor panicking with Gladio because the camera is missing.
The Chocobros end up being sat down and asked about the camera.
Noctis just looks his dad in the eye and says Gentiana showed up and gave it to them. They kept it in the armiger for a while, but Prompto wanted to use the camera to take pictures of some park.
Noctis has gotten a bit better at lying at least, enough to trick the adults about the camera.
Prompto gets his camera back and is... very protective of it after.
Noctis’ trip to Galdin when he’s eight includes the other three and has no Marilith attack interrupting the trip home.
Regis cries the day Bahamut speaks through the crystal telling him that the prophecy is no more. Noctis won’t need to die.
Noctis has a lot more magic than they did the first time they were a kid and teen.
They also discover they don’t need to tap into the power of the crystal to use any of it. They can warp and use elemancy by reaching within themself.
The moment they discover they don’t need to absorb elemental energy for elemental magic is the moment a few council members shudder.
They pretend they have a lack of control just to ‘lightly’ zap a few bigoted members.
They also abuse the ability as a teen to keep their phone charged all the time.
Prompto convinces them to charge his phone sometimes too.
Ardyn encourages zapping the bigots by the way
He is enjoying being an emperor without the scourge feeding into his negative emotions.
Aranea somehow ends up as Ardyn’s shield. Someone’s gotta remind the guy that eating and sleeping are needed for living.
She and Clarus will meet up for drinks to complain about stupid things their LCs have done.
Regis has gotten himself stuck up a few trees once he is able to take down the wall. He has so much energy and warping is a great way to burn it off.
Until he runs out of energy when in a tree
There have been news headlines of the king being recused from trees.
Cid’s saved every news article so he can tease Regis the next time the man visits.

𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐘'𝐒 𝐁𝐍𝐇𝐀 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒
↳ rei's favorite flower
COSA VUOI DIRMI HORIKOSHI?

Some salty asks in return! How about 1, 9, 17!
What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Since we’re talking specifically about fandom, I’m not going to count canon pairings. For FFVII, I never really understood Yuff//intine and Valen//wind, both of which were super popular back in the early 2000s.
As for FFXV... I really, really don’t get Gla//nis. Mostly because of the fandom ultra-feminizing Ignis. Another one I don’t really get is High//pecs. I have absolutely nothing against either ship, and have written it myself, but honestly? I don’t really get it.
Most disliked character(s)? Why?
For the Voltron fandom, they really soured me to a certain particular male character. I tend to block his fans because they tend to be super negative to everyone and everything that isn’t about that character.
As for FFXV... I really dislike canon-game Luna, but I am constantly writing my own Luna, trying to give her character that the game completely misses. I want to give her the character she is sorely missing. She deserved better.
Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
This is what fan fiction is for. I would say that I would have been happier if FFXV was split in two, and they took their time with everything from Ch 9 on. I would have been much happier if they did something like Laguna in FFVIII, where you would see through his eyes occasionally. I would have loved it if you got to travel with Luna, Gentiana, and Umbra and Pryna through Eos.
As for Voltron... I would have made Shiro tell Keith he loved him at the end of Season 7.

things i would PERSONALLY like to ask square about
kingsglaive
does regis show luna around the citadel during her visit? does he totally out his son and invite her into his room and they joke about how neat it is ( thank to iggy, obviously ).
luna driving the niffship and nyx taking over... surely she must know how to operate a flying ship such as those. there is no way to drive in tenebrae, which explains why she sucks at it, but the ship seemed to be going fine... she knows how to fly it, correct???
with the warping, of those gifted with it, occasionally - little hail like things fall to the ground after. is that solidified oxygen? does a glaive’s body temp / temp around them drop into negative celsius? what is it.
glauca’s suit; liquid metal? how does it stay in solid form, where does he keep it stored when traveling? necklace with the liquid encapsulated or something?
glauca’s dinosaur screech as he kills regis. why?
xv
where are my girl / girl interactions? here, i’ll give you some.
aranea being luna’s bodyguard before kingsglaive begins.
gentiana guiding luna to cindy in hammerhead, after the events of kingsglaive.
cindy calling iris and asking her for help, asking her where to avoid any niff-blockades.
iris being so jealous that cindy got to meet the oracle, and she asks her to pass off the phone so she can thank her.
cindy giving luna a ride to a safe means of passage to altissia.
how the FUCK does tenebrae work with gravity, what the fuck.
are chocobos found in tenebrae???? some variation of chocobos, at least???

Snappy Comebacks - FFXV Style Round 2
A/N: So, apparently - my first go around of these was really, really well liked. Some asked why Ardyn and Cid weren’t included in the first go around, and I added them after. But then, I saw @kheradihr ask for the ladies too... and I figured...
Why the heck not. So, we’ll add Ardyn, Cid, and all the ladies I can think of to this list. [Let me know if there’s someone else I’m missing!]
Summary: Someone degrades you, or says something insulting, and these guys and gals say something to defend you before you get the chance.
Cid: “Ya know, if you’re really…really quiet…you can hear yourself doin’ the world a favor…”
Ardyn: "Oh but of course I've seen people like you before my dear, but at that time I had to pay an admission."
Aranea: “You. My dear friend, should have been swallowed.”
Lunafreya: “Don’t mistake my silence for weakness. Afterall, no one plans a murder out loud.”
Gentiana: “Everyone has the right to be stupid, but you are abusing that privilege.”
Cindy: “Hey, I don’t hate ya or nothin’, but I hope your next period happens in a shark tank.”
Iris: “I’m seriously trying to see things from your point of view, but I can’t stick my head that far up my ass…”
Sania: “I am not a Proctologist, but even I know an asshole when I see one!”
Monica: “Before you tell me what I did wrong, you should first know that I don’t care.”
Crowe: “You’re IQ test came back. It was negative.”
Holly: “As a kid, you must have worked with glue a lot.”
Vyv: “Man, I can do a lot with photoshop... but I’m afraid your ugly personality is still gonna shine through.”

on safay & sylva
Imperial General Safay Roth-Aldercapt, the son of First Secretary Camelia Claustra and Emperor Iedolas Aldercapt, was one of the most illustrious generals in Niflheim’s history if not the most. Though he was born into wealth, since he was young did the aspiring soldier idealize the idea of being a patriotic, virtuous soldier; a man who treated his enemies fairly and conquered territories with diplomacy and benevolence. By his rule, the territories of Tenebrae and Accordo were able to achieve near autonomy sans imperial oversight )a trait that would pass on to his son, Ravus, reflected in the popularity he experiences in-game). Knowledgeable and fair, Safay represented the character Iedolas possessed prior to Chancellor Izunia’s ascension that saw people seeing in him the character Iedolas once was and placing in him the same hope they’d once had in their reigning emperor. Because of this, when the Oracle Sylva Via Fleuret expressed such interested in him, Iedolas and Sofia Sol Fleuret--the former Oracle--arranged for them to be wed seeing as both got along famously and were the talk in their countries’ social circles. When she was roughly 21 and Safay 25, they married in a lavish ceremony in Altissia and had their first child, Ravus Nox Fleuret, two years later.
Four years later, their twin daughters, Stella and Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, were born with incredible zeal. Growing up, outside of their mother’s training, Safay was a distant but firm father. Under his direction, he saw to it that his daughters and son received the finest tutors from across the empire, instilling in them political sense from even a young age. When Luna was revealed to be the next Oracle, his relationship with his wife became strained as she excluded her children altogether aside from Luna. Stella and Ravus were taken under his wing and spent most of their time in Gralea with him, enrolling them in a royal military academy exclusive for the imperial family and upper crust Niflheimian noble families. While they became close, the gulf between Sylva and Luna and them became wider, creating a noticeable divide; especially since Safay vehemently disagreed with how fervently Sylva insisted on training Luna and noticed the negative effects it had on her despite how crucial it was that she be instructed at a level only matched by the First Oracle herself.
The final straw that crafted an irreparable breach between father and daughter was when Safay, grief-stricken by Sylva’s loss, used Luna to summon Shiva when she was only 13 and then turn an unquenchable revenge on the goddess that froze over much of Niflheim when he attacked, Safay losing his life in the process. While he was lauded as a hero for defending Niflheim from the goddess’ icy wrath, it was Luna who suffered as being the culprit in some scheme for petty revenge and the impetus for much of the abuse she endured.
Sylva Via Fleuret, Queen of Tenebrae and Oracle, was the daughter of then-Queen Sofia Sol Fleuret and Nadir, author of the Cosmogony and messenger of Bahamut acclaimed for appearing on the cover. Unusual for her heritage, from a young age it was made extremely apparent that the Accursed would awaken in her lifetime and her birth was necessary on the likelihood that Regis could’ve been the Chosen King (even if he wasn’t). Working closely with King Regis, while she was still fairly young was her most notable feat being the entrapment of a snake-like being that was reported for kidnapping Duscaen children.
In the beginning, she showed all her children equal consideration, and her marriage to Safay was a happy one. Famed throughout the empire as being a premier, attractive couple were their children just as much so; until the appearance of the High Messenger, Gentiana, that shattered that transient harmony. Sylva became obsessive, hoarding Luna’s time and beginning a strict training regimen that was too much for a girl as young as four. But, for eight years, Sylva trained Luna heavily that affected her personality and made her seem far more mature while paving the way for a host of mental problems that would become apparent later on in Luna’s life. Despite the toll it took on her daughter, Sylva’s was hellbent on raising an heiress capable on standing on equal ground with the incumbent True King.
Her harsh, militant demeanor didn’t snap until Regis’ coming with Noctis to Tenebrae in 744 M.E. While it was short-lived, everything almost seemed like it was until Niflheim discovered the illegal meeting and was subsequently murdered by Glauca as punishment for her supposed indiscretion.

(had me feeling like a) ghost Part 5 Meta Notes
Meta notes for Part 5 of my fic, so don’t read this if you haven’t finished that because spoilers
Here is a link to the last core part of the series!
How come Prompto doesn’t remember Shiva = Gentiana?
His memory of that day is pretty messed up because of the trauma of dying.
Why did Prompto ask to sleep on the outside of the bed at the end?
I mentioned this in a previous fic part, but Prompto used to sleep on the outside even before their roadtrip. He wakes up and is restless a lot, so it’s convenient for him. He was dealing with sleeping in the middle for everyone’s comfort but once he’s semi-adjusted, he’d just feel better to be on the outside again.
Communication
“But wait,” you might be saying. “Why didn’t Gladio and Ignis and Noctis yell at Prompto for running off on his own? Why wasn’t that a bigger deal?”
Here’s the thing: it was a big deal. But not everything that’s a big deal has to be an explosion. Prompto should have told somebody he was going off on his own before he did, but they all get that.
Keep in mind that Gladio and Ignis and Noct have all grown up some more over the past decade, and yelling... doesn’t really solve anything. It just makes you feel bad, and it doesn’t communicate well. So Prompto apologizes, and they rib him a little, and Prompto’s an adult so it’s not like they can keep him locked up somewhere forever. That would be weird and bad. You have to work on things as they come up.
There were several parts in this story that could have branched off into “Okay, and now it’s a big deal that X didn’t tell Y this sooner,” but?? That sucks?? Actually. Like, I didn’t want to write that even though I originally thought that was how the story was supposed to go. It had me in a deadlock on this story for a long time.
But that sucks. So I didn’t do that. And when I wrote Ignis telling Prompto that it was okay to take time for himself, so long as he was eventually honest about his worries, I wanted it to be true.
Because that’s sometimes how communication works. Sometimes you think on things for a hot minute or so before talking about them. Sometimes you need to do that. For yourself. And that’s okay. And I didn’t want anyone to get mad at Prompto over that because that wasn’t the message I wanted to convey. Honesty isn’t always I have to tell X person IMMEDIATELY. Sometimes it can be, depending on how time-sensitive the information is. But in this case, I wanted Prompto to think about his life for a bit. The reason his lack of immediate honesty seems like it should be a bigger deal because Prompto builds it up like that in his own head. He worries. He gets anxious. Some things seem bigger than they are and he feels like everyone will react negatively to them because some days that’s just how Prompto sees the world. But the way he thinks doesn’t necessarily match reality, the same way the way you or I think doesn’t always match reality. Not everything is world-ending.
I really wanted the moral of the story to be about good communication and not having honesty bite you in the ass. So I hope that succeeded.
Why didn’t they investigate Prompto’s resurrection more?
Noctis is tired. Ignis is tired. Gladio is tired. They haven’t had to deal with the Astrals in 10 years, and they don’t want to. The Astrals mostly sucked. Shiva was cool, but if you’re hanging with a god all the time, that usually spells trouble whether you want it to or not. So while they love that Prompto is back, they’re not going to embark on a quest if Shiva tells them not to worry about it. And the “that’s it, you fulfilled your end of this prophecy/bargain, I fulfilled mine” convo between her and Prompto basically tells them not to worry about it. So they really, really don’t want to.
In another story that would probably come back to bite them in the ass. But in this one I just wanted them to get that happy ending.
And by “happy ending,” I don’t mean that the story ends with this and Prompto goes to sleep and everything is 100% joy. He still has no legal documents indicating he’s a real living person. Noctis hops off the throne in a few months. Everyone’s gonna get annoyed and fight with one another eventually. Prompto is 20 and still has his own maturing to do. He’s started to stop comparing the then and now and make jokes about his own situation, but he has a lot of work to do.
But they’ll go on that casual, non-world-ending roadtrip one day and they won’t have to fight daemons or Astrals. They’ll work through their own normal problems together, and that’s what a happy ending is.
How come Gladio got to kiss Prompto and Ignis made out with him twice and Noctis didn’t?
OTL, I couldn’t find a good place for it, sorry. Back when Prompto lying to Noctis about Shiva not saying anything, they were gonna have a long intimate talk? And probably some kissing would have happened after that. But after I scrapped that, I couldn’t find a place for it. If it helps, Noctis cuddles Prom the most out of anyone and if you h/c him as not being too into kissing or stuff like that some days (like I sometimes do), then ayyy, this one’s 4 u, friend.
Hey, everyone kept mentioning Prompto was really cold, what was up with that? Like, I get it already, damn.
👀 👀 👀
Hey, if you picked up on that, good for you! That was a little something I wanted to drop in there as a kind of secret easter egg if you were really paying attention. Similar, less noticeable eggs include:
In the part before this, when Prompto goes to the lake by himself, it’s vaguely noted that he’s wearing Ignis’ jacket but it doesn’t feel cold at all, really. You didn’t know it was December at this point, but if you somehow remembered that later and thought it was weird he wouldn’t be cold in December, good for you.
When Prompto has the window open and it’s him and Ignis alone in the bedroom, he notes that the air feels a little warmer than December and the dark clouds outside should indicate.
I might make a little drabble or something for this later, but to sate your curiosity right now I’ll say it’s not world-threatening and simply more of a side effect of Shiva having brought him back to life.

@triggerxhappy
DO YOU REALLY WANNA KNOW? DO YOU? I COULD WRITE ABOUT THESE TWO ALL DAY. I COULD EVEN WRITE A NOVELLA ABOUT THESE TWO IF I WANTED TO LMAO. But Imma try to keep it short here.
Prompto had a small crush on Stella when they met. The poor boy crushes easily, so when he developed a crush on Stella which was pretty much at the first sight of her, he tried not to think too much of it, because he knows he crushes easily and he’s trying to stop himself from crushing over people so easily. He also gets attached easily, so at some point he does try to distance himself from Stella, but one night at the campfire, Stella was alone with Pryna, sitting away from the dudes because she’s not use to having so many people with her. The only ones who were with her when she went amnesiac were Pryna, Luna and Gentiana. So Prompto hesitantly decides to approach Stella and tries to talk to her and get to know her and stuff. Stella is not use to Prompto, nor is she very great with social skills, so she gives him that usual blunt attitude of her’s for him to back off until Pryna growls at her, trying to tell her to stop with the attitude. Stella eventually stops (and pets Pryna to calm herself down from social anxiety) and tries to talk to him in a proper manner.  She wonders why he isn’t sitting with the guys, and Prompto tells her as much as he loves them and loves hanging out with them, he thought she could use some company since she looked lonesome and out of the loop. He also adds that the bros didn’t mind if he was hanging with others or not as long as he can take care of himself. Then the two start having a casual conversation with telling stories and getting to know each other a bit. Stella doesn’t say too much about herself because she can’t remember everything due to her amnesia, but she didn’t mind listening to Prompto talk about himself as well as his times with the other guys.
Another thing I really like to HC about these two is that Prompto was the only one who could actually tell when Stella wanted to have someone with her. Like when Stella would get sad, she wouldn’t say a lot about it. She’d just let it eat her up. Even when the bros asked if she was alright, cuz it wasn’t like her to be walking slowly, nor was it like her to not be bickering with Prompto, or starting some kind of small conversation whenever it’d get too quiet and boring, Stella would just keep being like “I’m fine. Let’s move” in a blunt tone of voice. Sometimes the bros would stop walking so Stella can start talking. When that happens, Stella only says very little and she doesn’t wanna talk too much about it otherwise she won’t be able to focus properly (as much as her negativity would eat her up). The bros respect her decision on not wanting to say much, so they all just carry on. While negativity continues to eat up Stella, Prompto of course would notice, so he’s like the first person to always go to her. But even with Prompto, Stella refuses to say a lot sometimes and Prompto is just like “Look, if you don’t wanna tell me anything, then at least let me try to be here for you to learn on and cry on and I won’t tell anyone about it.” When Prompto gets like that, Stella just stops trying to argue, and then she just lets Prompto be there with her.

The FFXV Dossier
or,
More Proof that the Writers at Square Have No Clue WTF They Are Doing
Ravus Dossier: “Eldest son of House Fleuret, Blood of the Oracle, and older brother to Lady Lunafreya.  His mother was burned alive in the fires that consumed Tenebrae twelve years ago.”
It wasn’t bad enough that Sylva was run through by Glauca’s sword, she also was still alive after that and then legit died in a fire. Then Luna proceeds to mention her mother not a single time throughout the game, with the motherly presence replaced by Gentiana, the Most Ineffectual Attendant and Friend Ever. They didn’t have to do that to Sylva, but they did.
“Blaming the “cowardly” King Regis for her death,”
He was indeed a coward. No quotation marks needed. Carry on.
"Unfortunately, the Rulers of Yore deemed him unworthy of their power, and singed his left arm as punishment for his hubris."
Less “singed” and more “he got his own arm burnt off, was in incredible pain, and needed a Magitek prosthetic replacement and also his sister saw him burn-- to death, for all she knew-- and didn’t say a damn thing nor make any effort to help him”, but sure.
“The empire’s assault on Altissia was an unequivocal failure that resulted in massive casualties.  As High Commander, Ravus is forced to take responsibilty for this disastrous outcome and is succinctly scheduled for execution.”
Good of the dossier to clue us in on missable but important character information that would explain later parts of the story or why anyone is anywhere.
“Yet Lunafreya convinces her brother that his initial impression of the prince was wrong, and he has a change of heart.”
First of all, Lunafreya has no sense of self and her existence is defined by her continued positive relationship with a prince and a king she hasn’t seen in twelve goddamn years.
Second, this game runs on morality centered on whatever character the narrative wants to fellate. Luna didn’t tell Ravus that she chose to let Regis’s hand go. That gave Ravus the impression that Regis abandoned all of the Nox Fleurets to their fate instead of just two of them (although IMO, that he still abandoned them doesn’t get less bad).
Third, rather than having writing that examines the flaws of characters perceived or presented as Good People, instead what the narrative does is it twists characters into pretzels to sell that Regis was 100% pure and free of even the perception of wrongdoing, defended by another “sacrosanct” character (Luna) who is never wrong ever and is the best judge of character just because the game says so and look at how nice and good she is.
Anyone who disagreed with Regis “didn’t understand what he was going through”, even though his actions involved the manipulation and death of someone he was supposed to protect and care for (Noctis) and the sacrifice of many other people on top of that (Insomnian citizens, Luna, Ignis, Nyx, etc.), with all the blame of the events falling onto Noctis, who was deliberately raised not to know about a majority of the things he needed to do in the game nor the true extent of his burden because Regis wanted to “treat him like a normal boy” to make himself feel better about the fact that his son would die young anyway.
So, I don’t blame Ravus for thinking Noctis was an ignorant shit.
The problem is that at no point is Ravus disabused of the notion that Noctis is that way on purpose nor allowed to act in light of that knowledge. All Luna does is shill for Noct and tells Ravus that he’s wrong and he should change his mind about the guy because he will rise to the occasion in the future. She defends Noctis in a way that more or less admits that Ravus is right about his assessment but that it’s somehow irrelevant. In reality, Ravus is under no obligation to wait for that undetermined future time (10 years later... Ravus would wait a total of 22 years for Noctis to prove himself?) or expect that future behavior/redemption will make up for present misdeeds-- from Ravus’s POV Noctis shows no behavior that lends to the idea he knows what he’s doing or that he’s not just blowing off the fact that Luna is dying for him.
I still maintain that if Noctis knew that Luna was dying as the price of the covenants, he and Ravus would have seen eye to eye. However, every time someone makes it known that “Luna is dying”, the context is twisted to make it seem like she died because of Noctis and that she possessed the Ring of the Lucii (known to drain life and cause ill health), not because the gods robbed her of her life as part of waking them up-- a reality which makes Noctis a few steps removed from being the cause of Luna’s death. But I digress.
At the point Ravus “redeems himself” of his negative opinion and shows it, he has no other choice: Luna is already falling apart and near-death so he has to be a LuNoct shipper all of a sudden, and later on Noctis is the last remaining option to save the world that Ravus wanted his sister to live in and give people the future he wanted her to enjoy. Then it turns out that wasn’t even Noctis he was talking to, so he got no closure.
The problem is also that Ravus’s issue with Noctis and Regis is one that the narrative shows he’s not allowed to have. An opinion that Regis is a coward and Noctis is ignorant is some kind of “hallmark of villainy” for this game, because how dare people disagree with the protagonists and have a negative opinion on them! So Ravus needed to be “redeemed” and “see the light” about how great Noctis and Regis are when
he shouldn’t have had to
being a stan for the protag is not the same as being a good character
it’s not even the requirement of being a hero, or even a good person
and wow, look at all the good it did him considering he still fucking died. His name is Ravus and they didn’t let him have a gray view of the protagonists. He died and his body was defiled.
Gentiana Dossier: "Gentiana prefers not to interfere with the everyday occurrences of the mortal world"
Including, of course, a twelve year old Luna being beaten by Caligo. And Luna being murdered by Ardyn the day after Gentiana appeared in Altissia. And Sylva being murdered by Glauca (or rather, BURNED ALIVE in the fire near Fenestala Manor). Those everyday occurrences. Ok.
Crepera/The Rogue Dossier: "One of the guardians of the Old Wall, consumed by the Starscourge and forced to submit to Ardyn’s will.”
Ardyn is such a Sue he can infect spirits now? Ok.
I mean, the Old Wall fell apart when Nyx summoned them to fight Diamond Weapon and Drautos, and calling upon them is a power granted by those who have the Ring of the Lucii, but Ardyn still brought some Kings of Lucis back to possess them with powers antithetical to the ones that could control and awaken them in the first place. This is after he summoned a Wall to cover the Citadel that’s identical to the one powered by the Crystal and the Ring of the Lucii when the Crystal already rejected him and he should have no right to its abilities as well as not having the Ring in his possession. Splendid.
"Having lost her father and older brother to the daemons"
Oh, so the Kings of Lucis could have more than one child! But Noctis doesn't have a sibling because......?
“At the time, however, the thought of a woman ruling the kingdom was preposterous to some.  Thus the Rogue reigned from the shadows, helping Lucis to overcome a difficult era without once revealing her face to the masses.”
Okay, so the sole surviving daughter of the Lucian monarchy is ruling the place but the problem people have with it is her sex? Ok. I mean this is an isolationist country that's already hated by the people outside of it for its practices and general neglect of the neighboring lands but having a woman at the helm is the real problem. My god. But it is good to know that, in a world with massive genocidal water snakes, giants holding up meteors, clones, robots, malarial space herpes, frosty ice giantesses being maids to Discount Female Jesus Figures, all of which exist on a planet smaller than fucking Rhode Island, sexism still remains intact. So good to know.
Like it wasn't known that the previous King had a son and a daughter? So no shit if the father and son die that the daughter would be left, unless a) a total foreigner would rule the country, for the sake of "muh male dominance" which is shit, b) someone not descended from the Lucian line would rule the country, for the above reason, which is still shit c) the daughter disguised herself as a man and for maximum roleplay got herself a wife too, because people can’t accept a woman being in charge for some reason, but anyway it still makes no sense because the solution after all was that she still does her job, but she does it behind the scenes because she morphed from King of Lucis to Harry Potter whenever the Dursleys have a guest in their house.
Fuck, I mean, doesn’t the Rogue wield a big honkin’ shuriken? I thought this "ruling from the shadows" thing was more like her conducting assassinations by moonlight and winning the hearts of her subjects by daylight like a murderous Sailor Moon! The flavor text says she “spurned the public eye”, so you know what'd also be acceptable? Her not being in the spotlight because that’s just part of her personality, but I hear Square has no idea how giving women personalities is supposed to work. A "King of Lucis" that avoids paparazzi like the fucking plague would be A++ but nah, it’s because this fantasy world still needs sexism in it, and this King of Lucis who’s gotten her position by “birthright” and “natural causes” still gives a fuck about social mores. Utter horseshit.

FFXV Playthrough part 7
Around 28 hours, just left the continent through boat and now in Chapter 9: Altissa. I took my time and had fun with the continent before leaving. Lots of negative opinions below:
So I have to kill some daemons in the power plant because of the mythril ore... okay? And LOL “Hunter.” It’s honestly one of the most stupid parts of the game. Hunter has Gladio’s voice, his sword, his skills and animation and I wonder about the purpose of hiding his identity...
Unless it’s a way to get surprised by his scar. So healing is fast in this universe okay. But everyone is just okay with him leaving the group and returning with scars? NOBODY ASKS??? NOBODY HAS TO KNOW WHY?
So since I figured out that I will leave the continent (apparently, it’s Noctis’ country... and it was invaded. Somehow. I did some sidequests.
Got Gladio his egg. Still I wonder how they could carry and cook it but I guess they can summon stuff like they do with their weapons and campsite.
Did chocobo races, and it gives me nostalgia on Chocobo Racing back when I was a kid. I loved that game and it introduced me to Squaresoft and FF monsters. White Mage is my first female FF character before anyone. I defeated Prompto in a race but get beat by Gladio. I have no drive to level up my bird.
Backed out from Costlemark and the mines. While it would be nice to have all Armigers, the high level ronin and the hard dungeon isn’t worth it at my current patience. All in all I have seven of the armigers I think.
I can never catch the fish Gladio wants in the swamps. I don’t know what I lack but I kept on catching other fishes.
LOL I didn’t do any upgrades with Cid and now the boat is leaving I just dumped all these parts to him.
Oh hi Cor! Little too late to teach me about magic lol. Why can’t you come with us? You can kick asses! Why?
Now the very ranty part: the boat ride to Altissa is one of the worst writing moments I have ever seen in videogame. In a few minutes of party banter with a zoomed out aerial view I listened to some important exposition:
There is something about the Lucian ring and how it could have been entrusted to Luna??? They assumed Regis gave it to Luna? And they are just talking about this now?
And that Ravus is rumored to have Regis’ sword??? SERIOUSLY? How did Ignis hear this and how come they didn’t talk about this after the encounter with Ravus? Wow Ravus is strong... they only realized it weeks after they encountered him.
They are also talking about something, not sure if it is the Leviathan or another beast. But now they should go to it next. The first time it is ever mentioned in the story. I am not sure how exactly the group decided to collect the summons. While I understand the Ramuh part with Gentiana, suddenly they *have* to get another one.
Still not sure what they were aiming for? The wedding? Liberation? Who exactly do they want to defeat?
LOL “Ardyn has ulterior motives” *claps* congratulations for being captain obvious. That guy has been cryptic from the start and they were so okay with him and only after few encounters would they talk about his ulterior motives. Aren’t they trying to think?
And Cid has some drama with Regis back in the days. Wow totally in-place of the conversation. Actually, these types of random convos should have been allotted to banters at the first place, not plot relevant things like the ones listed above.
Cidney is an orphan. Ok. I don’t really care. I assume everyone is.
Then I arrived at Altissa. Pretty at first but it’s obviously Venetian. Still not fantasy enough for my taste. My first objective was to look at Luna’s dress. Now, all Noktluna fans beware:
Noctis’ reaction was terrible. It’s all his friends teasing him, mentioning a happy future with Luna, and all he says is “yeah” or something like that. He has simply not expressed anything romantic towards Luna at this point in the story. He cares for her and wanted her safe but this is the same with any of his friends. I wish he could just have mentioned something about seeing Luna in that dress, or finding her beautiful, or admiring her charisma to the people. Nope. This is another typical trope in anime where a guy cannot express romantic feelings towards a female character unless its played for comedy or unless she is dead.
To Klotis and Kleriths seeking for ship parallels, Noktluna is a terrible comparison. Maybe this will change when I finish the story, but so far there is nothing similar except for some generic tropes.

Cindy is a highly motivated go-getting problem solver. She’s thefriend who has the most energy and is always up for a challenge.
Tumblr media
- Feeling down? Not for long you won’t. Cindy won’t allow it.She won’t come across as insensitive though mind, she’s far too tactful. Expecther to try and make you laugh or offer you a trip of a lifetime, on the road,or a trip to the beach.- Struggling to find employment? Cindy is the sort of friend who will offer yousome hands-on experience at the Hammerhead station. You would accompany herlong journeys to deliveries, towing and collecting supplies. It’s tough workbut she WILL pay you.
- She’ll never inform you if she’s feeling low and will mask herpain by attempting to bring you joy instead.
- Want to go shopping? She’s not one for fashion and cosmeticsbut thrives in hardware stores. She’ll accompany you anywhere you want to gothough, mind – she’s too laid back to care about her surroundings in thecompany of her friend.
-Sleepover? She’s hella down for it and will even encourage you to make campoutdoors under the clear night skies. She also loves movie nights and is asucker for rom-coms, though she’ll never shout it from the rooftops!Iris is a vibrant bundle of energy. Young but far from naïve,she’s made of tough stuff – after all, she is the sister of Gladiolus.
Tumblr media
-Made plans for a daytrip? Iris will be up the earliest, ensuring she’s on time. She’s a morning person, who lives everyday like it’sher last.-If you’re feeling low, she will try to be resourceful and raiseyour spirits. However, mope around for too long and she’ll lose patience andtell you how it is, including how your mood creates negative energy.-Whilst 15 year old Iris adapts to hanging out with her (older)companions, her age CAN be evident at times. When the clock strikes 11pm, youmight be ready to kick back and relax with a hot drink but Iris is just gettingstarted – she’s eager to experience the Altissia nightlife but you won’t evenTRY to smuggle her in a bar without suffering at the hands of Gladio. - Benefits of being friends with Iris? She’s 100% down for theChocobo Moogle festival and will demonstrate genuine enthusiasm throughout theWHOLE time that’s spent there. Gentianawould strike many as an introverted, mysterious aura of pure sass and boy sheis.
Tumblr media
-You must be extremely lucky to get acquainted with this lady. She’s very much like a typical description of a cat, by which she chooses you,not the other way round.-Don’t expect too much conversation from the lady whom isblessed with the gift of Astral Shiva herself. Silence is bliss, thisfriendship will involve plenty of them; comfortable silences of course.- She will like to people-watch with you, carefully observingone’s day to day routine and general chit chat fascinates Gentiana, so expectcoffee dates on a regular basis.
- Loves your pet cat.-Extremely loyal and compassionate about the subject of equality, you may beasked to accompany Gentiana to peace bringing events across Eos and localcommunities aiding in saving the planet.
Aranea is a straight talking, no nonsense lady with a ‘do ityourself’ attitude.
Tumblr media
- It will take a while for Aranea to open up to you, even aftermonths of friendship – she doesn’t ‘do’ emotions and feelings.
- Aranea likes adventure and thrill and every moment spenttogether will be a stand out memory for the both of you.
-  Aranea is a risk taker and is willing to break the rules if itmakes you or her happy. So you wanted that seasonal limited edition Chocolattefrom the local Coffee shop but the store’s shut? No problem! Aranea will breakin get one and make it for you, WITHOUT getting caught! Everything is done withhaste; a blink of the eye and the Chocolatte will appear before your eyes….certifiedNinja right?
-  Her generosity doesn’t come without a price, she will expect youto return favours and be willing to step out of your comfort zone.
- Also best friends with Ignis Scientia. If you’re into him, she’llpick up the signs and inform him of her suspicions in confidence. Should youtwo start to date, her protective instincts will kick in, likely because she seesyou as a younger sibling figure.
-Downside of being chums with Aranea? She’s very much a ‘do it onher own terms’ character. She also prefers her own space so she will be mostappreciative if you can both hang out together under the same roof whilstpursuing your own interests and activities. Luna is the shining light out of all of your friends.
Tumblr media
-The ‘calming’ influence any stress=head would need in theirlife. Lunafreya is the type of friend to reassure you during your time of need.-Despite the physical and mental pain endured from her role as anOracle, she never puts herself first – she lives to serve the people of Eos.She will reluctantly accept your advice on taking it easy to kick back andrelax, though she can be easily swayed with a hot cup of lavender tea!-Enjoys shopping for cosmetics and fashion. Her favourite placesto shop are Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. She’s generous and willoffer to treat you to such luxuries from designer stores and high end diningestablishments.
- A fan of dog walking and loves doggy dates with your own and hers of course!-Aware her contact with Astrals will shorten her lifespan, sheentrusts you with the handling of her precious belongings, requesting you have accessto her personal items such as clothes and jewellery passed down from her Motherin her will. -Likes to discuss happy childhood memories such as her one to oneconversations with Noctis, whom she longs to see again after a decade apart, physically.

can i just say that you've just become one of my favorite users on here! like YESSSSSS to the max on your last reply. i've argued constantly with my brother (who LOVES ffxv) about how flat it just was. especially for a game so over hyped and years in the making! and its not to shit on the game cause it had some good things. but overall ffxv bored me. i honestly didn't care about the characters or its story. Luna as you mentioned was downgraded! again everything in Kingsglaive wiped.
I think a lot of people don’t see the difference anymore between “shitting on a game” and criticize it. It seems to me that to some people any kind of negativity towards anything they love is all of a sudden a personal attack and I actually hate it because when I say “This game is overhyped and let me down” does not mean “I hate every person who enjoys this game because when I don’t enjoy it, no one else can enjoy it!” because what I actually mean is “This game is overhyped and let me down”. It may be a surprise for some people but I am one person and therefore can only talk about myself and my opinion about stuff. I have no problem when someone disagrees with me because again, you’re a different person than me and probably consumed this game different from me and that’s cool.
I honestly hope you and your brother aren’t fighting about something as petty as a game. It’s not worth it but what is kinda funny, I thought the past night about the people I talked with about XV and most people I talked with where disappointed. And it’s probably because it took too long for this game to come out. I followed the making of this game since 2007. Nine years late the game came out but it was nothing what I saw from the earlier days. I bet SE has good reasons to change the concept of the game but it just was boring and flat, as you said.
The last trophy I had to get was to one from Gladios skill thing-y where you need to walk around and I was so stupid and only traveled with a chocobo. And I was so damn tired that I used a rubber band around my controler and let Noct walk in circles for five hours. I certainly wouldn’t do that if the game was funny. But it kinda was always the same, you know? You need to get from Place A to Place B but you need to stop that damn car five times because one of your guys want to take a photo, the other needs to pee and then there is some dumb monster on the street you need to kill first before going on. When you’re at Place B, you need to kill all enemies. Then there is a cutscene which probably has some dumb dude comment in it before you head from Place B to Place C. XV did not have much variety. The side quests where mostly the same as well. Go to that Place and kill that monster and then come back. I wasted hours doing side quests because I thought I would get more story out of it but there just wasn’t anything.
The game had good things and I sometimes even laughed but it failed to create a connection between me and the characters and every gamer knows that’s important to get invested into the story. But then, the story was an actual mess.
I have no idea where SE wanted to go with this game but somewhere they did lose themselves. They probably had too many ideas and just lost focus or something.
Another thing I actual really hate about the game is the car. It may sounds odd but I hate it so much. I always left Ignis drive because I had no patience for it. And when you need to get to a location you had not visited before you someties drove up to 10mins where nothing happened. Okay, you could listen to music but what the actual fuck. In that time I sometimes prepared dinner or went showering. I have no idea which idiot had that idea but it’s actually one of the most stupidest thing I have ever seen in a game. Fight me.
I’m honestly pumped for XII, which comes out next month and for VII Remake because I know and already played these games and know they’re good and I know there is just a very slight chance I will be as disappointed as after XV. I know what I’ll get when I buy XII.
But I think something I will never be able to get around is the treatment of their female characters in XV. As if it wasn’t bad enough that there was no woman in the actual party, who could fight but then shoved Gladio’s sister down my throat who did nothing beside wasting my Portions, was honestly shitty. As I said before Luna talked about her death since minute one and it was no surprise that she died to increased Noct’s already very high manpain. Cidney was just cheap eye-candy. Gladio’s sister, which name I can’t recall right now, was such a big deal to get her and to make sure she’s safe but then she just disappears and you never see her again. First you fought Aranea, then you worked together, which I enjoyed and then she disappears as well. I know other players had her hepling them randomly durnig fights in the open but in the +70hrs I needed to completely the game this actually did not happen to me. So I never saw her again. And then there is the other main girl, Gentiana, which has one of the best backstories with being Shiva but is on screen for only 7 minutes at best and yeah, that’s it. Oh, wait! I forgot Frog Lady!! I don’t know her name but she’s probably the only person who doesn’t gives you a side quest where you need to kill something. I loved Frog Lady but she only had, what, 2 or 3 quests and then she was gone as well. What a shame, I honestly loved her german voice.
For fairness I have to say that Kings.glaive played during the first Chapter of the game and that could be the reason why the stuff got never mentioned but you can’t tell me that in the ten years the game played no one talked about what happened during the fight. We know Nyx saved the city but I’m not sure if anyone else knows it but to see his “body” hanging in the throne room, alonge side KG!Luna and Regis was honestly a punch into the face because the stuff from the movie still got not addressed and everyone who has not watched the movie and hasn’t great eye-sight probably did not know why these people where hanging there. Sloppy.
I wonder what happened to that other guy from KG, the one who helped Luna later. Shit, I forgot the name but I mean Nyx’s pal with the broken arm. He was alive at the end of KG but why did SE not make him show up during the game. It could have been a throw away line like “Nyx did everything to protect his people” or anything else. Then I would have been happy but with the game never so mucb as mentioning what happens during KG and Luna being a completely different person, you could actually think that the movie played in another universe.
On thing I need to say is that the endboss fight was actually very boring. Maybe I was over-leveled with being on 99lvl but it was just …..boring and too easy.
Sorry again for the rant but I could go on and on and on and on because I had not the chance before to talk so lengthy about the game and how I feel about it. I hope you don’t mind.
