OPTOMA UNVEILS OMA-S - THE WORLD’S SMALLEST RGB LASER PROJECTOR
Tumblr media
Taipei, Taiwan — September 26, 2023 — Optoma, a globally renowned projector brand, announces the launch of its groundbreaking OMA-S RGB 3-laser projector. It has not only set a new record as the world’s smallest laser projector but also breaks through the limitations of traditional projectors. The projector has been recognized with three international awards, including the prestigious iF.
The OMA-S is the first portable projector incorporating the BT2020 color gamut and top-quality RGB 3-laser light source technology. With support for 1080p high resolution and 1,500 HK lumens of brightness, the OMA-S provides a high-end cinema-level color effect compared to projectors of similar size. Its short-throw lens requires a mere 1.73 meters to project a 100-inch large screen. It also offers real-time auto focuse and auto keystone correction, making it highly suitable for travel and providing immersive viewing experiences in compact spaces.
Furthermore, the OMA-S exclusively features Optoma’s AI-driven technology, AI Picture Quality (AI-PQ). The built-in AI processor can instantly identify faces and scenes and intelligently adjust image parameters to optimize the picture. The OMA-S also features an Auto-low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Pure Motion automatic frame interpolation technology, enhancing the smooth movie-viewing experience and reducing gaming latency with a more responsive display.
OMA-S Receives Multiple International Design Awards
The OMA-S was honored with three leading international design awards in 2023: the German iF Product Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, and the Green Good Design Award. Weighing only 1 kilogram, the projector is designed in a way that cleverly hides assembly screws with seamless edge curves for a classy appeal. The outer shell employs scratch-resistant, dirt-resistant nano-imprint technology, offering a warm, delicate touch reminiscent of European-style furniture. The height adjustment stand strikes a balance between style and quality by using a non-stage bearing covered with soft material, tested to withstand over 20,000 cycles of operation. With an emphasis on environmental sustainability, up to 50% of the projector’s body uses Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials, while up to 99% of the packaging is recyclable. It’s the smallest, most eco-friendly and energy-efficient projector on the market.
Starting today, the OMA-S will be displayed as an award-winning product at the “iF Design Award Winners Exhibit 2023 (III).” In addition to seeing the actual OMA-S model, Optoma has collaborated with professional fashion photographer Kuo Yao Chung to create unique photography works themed “Healing of Mountains and Seas.” Utilizing the OMA-S, Mr. Kuo projected a trio of elements — forests, leaves, and fire — onto dynamic human figures along with the projector’s light and color effects, yielding unparalleled photographic works and providing viewers with a visual arts extravaganza.
Photographer Kuo Yao Chung even took the OMA-S to the beach, skillfully pairing real campfires with flames projected by the OMA-S to integrate Taiwan’s stunning landscapes and nature into his portrait photography. The superior performance of the OMA-S opens up more possibilities for photography. Besides being lightweight and portable, the projector also has impressive improvements in brightness and color rendition. The OMA-S supports auto-focus and keystone correction in real time and can project large images even at short distances, eliminating the inconvenience of manual adjustments and proving itself to be an ideal tool for photographers. The exhibition runs from September 26 to October 21. Everyone is welcome to visit Songshan Cultural and Creative Park for the live exhibition*.
The Optoma OMA-S portable projector offers exceptional experiences, whether for home entertainment, outdoor travel, or artistic creation. Moreover, Optoma is committed to environmental protection and conservation, contributing to a brighter and better world.

Polyester Staple Fibre Price, New, Demand & Supply | ChemAnalyst
Tumblr media
Throughout the third quarter, the market values of Polyester Staple Fibre (PSF) price consistently lingered at the lower spectrum in comparison to the preceding quarter. This prolonged downward trajectory was attributable to an ongoing surplus in the local downstream textile industries. Consequently, a number of producers scaled back their PSF manufacturing activities in response to subdued purchasing trends in the region during July, exacerbating the overall downtrend. This reduction became apparent through the decline observed in the Purchasing Managers' Index in July 2023, signifying a contraction in the manufacturing sector. The contraction persisted into August, as PSF inventory levels remained elevated in the region amid diminishing new orders. According to the data, exports of textile and clothing goods totaled 27.115 billion US dollars, marking a year-on-year decrease of 18.38%, coupled with a 3.57% decline compared to August. The continuous decline in PSF exports from China to the US contributed to the sustained downtrend in prices throughout September.
In the third quarter of 2023, the prices of German Polyester Staple Fibre (PSF) were notably lower compared to the preceding half of the year. Throughout the quarter, a consistent downward trend was evident, driven by ample inventories meeting subdued demand from the downstream textile industry in July. Furthermore, the impact of inflation led to a reduction in consumer spending, compelling manufacturers in the region to lower their profit margins, thereby supporting the bearish trend. Subsequently, the demand for PSF remained generally weak, reflecting the disappointing performance of the downstream textile industry in August. Consumer purchasing activities stayed subdued amid prevailing recessionary conditions in Europe. Simultaneously, the presence of substantial inventories persisted as demand failed to utilize them fully, leaving little room for price increments during this period. The intricate interplay of these factors creates a complex and challenging landscape for the German PSF market, where demand, economic conditions, and inventory levels collectively contribute to the bearish trend observed throughout September.

Beiersdorf brands pack in recyclable, reusable and refillable
Tumblr media
As part of its sustainable development policy, the German group Beiersdorf, which notably owns Nivea and Eucerin, aims to make 100% of its packaging refillable, reusable or recyclable. German also aims for long-term partnerships and a collaborative approach.
Although the name “Beiersdorf”[1], a German group created over one hundred and forty years ago, is little known to the general public, most of its brands enjoy international notoriety. Like Nivea, Eucerin, La Prairie and Hansaplast, whose priority is to be "a synonym of innovation in the skin care product sector", says Petr Mlatecek, the group's boss in France and in the Benelux, recalling that the company was founded by a pharmacist and a dermatologist. Illustration of this past in research and development, Eucerit, the medicinal basis of several products from the Eucerin and Nivea brands, was discovered a century ago. Enough to make Petr Mlatecek say that the ambition has always been “to innovate and be at the forefront of science”.
This credo also applies to reducing the carbon footprint of the group, committed in particular to a circular economy approach, and which has formalised its strategy with the Care Beyond Skin program. While more than 1,000 employees work specifically on R&D within the group, 200 million euros are invested there each year. Result: in 2022, Beiersdorf was awarded the “Triple A” rating from the CDP[2], i.e. a place among the twelve companies displaying the highest level of action on the sustainable development front.[3]
Two hundred tons of paper saved
In terms of containers, Beiersdorf's overall commitment is to reduce the use of virgin, fossil-based plastic by 50%, and to use at least 30% recycled plastic by 2025, compared to 2019. “We also aim to make 100% of our packaging refillable, reusable or recyclable,” explains Petr Mlatecek. To do this, various initiatives have been deployed. “For example, we have implemented numerous changes to save more than 200 metric tons of paper annually until 2025, compared to 2019,” says the manager.
In terms of supply and production, one of the guidelines of Eucerin's strategy is the sustainable use of land. Which translates in particular to “100% FSC certified paper folding boxes[4]”. Furthermore, all of the cosmetic product brochures accompanying the packaging have been removed, and “plastic is used in smaller quantities, with increased use of recycled material, measures which will save 150 tonnes of plastic by to 2025,” emphasizes Petr Mlatecek.
Long-term partnerships
Another transformation, the adoption of refill systems for Eucerin's Hyaluron-Filler facial care range[5] has enabled a reduction of more than 71% in CO2 emissions linked to packaging, compared to a standard container. “The challenge is that this new packaging concept would be well accepted by consumers, because we would then like to see other brands and other products offering these packaging solutions,” notes Petr Mlatecek.
And the manager explains that this shift is based in particular on “the training of employees, cooperation with innovative start-ups or with the academic world”. Without forgetting the suppliers, like Nussbaum[6] for recycled aluminum, or Sabic[7] for renewable plastic. “Our suppliers play a particularly important role for us, whether in packaging, transport or raw materials: this is why Beiersdorf aims for long-term partnerships and a collaborative approach, because we believe this offers the best outcome for everyone,” concludes Petr Mlatecek.

Vitamin C Prices, Pricing, Demand & Supply, Market Analysis | ChemAnalyst
For the Quarter Ending June 2023
North America:
In the second quarter of 2023, the vitamin C market in North America underwent a bearish price trend. Price discussions for CFR Los Angeles witnessed a decline from $4,550 per metric ton to $4,020 per metric ton between April and June 2023, marking a 1.1% decrease over the quarter. The demand for vitamin C from end-users in the food and beverage, cosmetics, and nutraceutical industries in the US was marginally lower due to ample stocks at suppliers. Corresponding with energy prices, inflation in the country experienced a modest decrease. However, industry experts point out that despite the decline in energy prices, underlying inflation remains elevated and surpasses the Federal Reserve's target. They also suggest that the temporary fall in inflation, attributed to eased supply chain pressures, is not indicative of a sustained trend. Despite varied perspectives on vitamin prices, the nutraceuticals market in the country demonstrated diverse market patterns. A consistently robust labor market continues to bolster economic growth through wage increases, potentially contributing to inflation. This situation is likely to prompt another interest rate hike by the Fed in July. However, the overall state of the US economy remains uncertain, leading market participants in the dietary supplement and food industries to maintain a cautious wait-and-see approach.
Asia Pacific:
The second quarter of 2023 witnessed a deteriorating price trend in the Asia-Pacific vitamin C market. Price negotiations for FOB Shanghai, China, for Vitamin C USP grade fell from $2,900 per tonne to $2,580 per tonne between April and June 2023. This persistent price decline began in the first half of Q2 2023 as demand for vitamin C from end-users in the food and beverage, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics sectors declined both regionally and internationally. Lower demand and inquiries from local and international consumers compelled Chinese vitamin C producers to sell the product at reduced margins throughout the quarter. According to statistics, China's manufacturing activity contracted for the third consecutive month in June, albeit at a slower pace, prompting calls for additional stimulus to support an economy that is leveling off after an initially strong post-COVID rebound in the first quarter. The June PMI highlighted various imbalances and weaknesses, including sustained declines in domestic and external demand, an accelerated slowdown in small business activity, and ongoing pressures on the private sector.
Get Real Time Prices of Vitamin C: https://www.chemanalyst.com/Pricing-data/vitamin-c-1258
Europe:
The second quarter of 2023 presented a bearish scenario for the German vitamin C market, with price discussions for CFR Hamburg slipping slightly from USD 3,750 per tonne to USD 3,550 per tonne. The price decline was supported by reduced demand from downstream sectors amidst ample supplier inventories. Gas prices in Europe hit their lowest levels in April since the onset of the energy crisis, fostering optimism for a robust economic recovery and facilitating trade from Asia. As European economic conditions slightly improved, the European Union (EU) aimed to decrease reliance on Chinese imports by boosting its manufacturing industry. To preempt potential shortages, stockpiling in warehouses led to lower price margins later in the second quarter. Although inflation in Germany rose by more than 6% in June, its impact on the country's vitamin C industry is yet to be discerned. Market players, akin to global sentiments, remain skeptical about the country's economic situation, adopting a cautious wait-and-see approach.

Miele appliances awarded with 11 iF Design Awards 2023.

Miele appliances awarded with 11 iF Design Awards 2023.
Tumblr media
6 Miele appliances have been awarded this year, with two significant international awards. All of them have been awarded the iF Design Awards 2023, and five with the Red Dot Design Awards. The jury for the IF Design Awards consisted of 132 experts from over 120 countries worldwide, while the jury for the Red Dot Design Awards consisted of 40 international experts.
The appliances awarded with both accolades are the KM 7897 Diamond induction cooktop and the KMDA 7473 and KMDA 7272 Silence induction cooktops with integrated extractor.
Finding and rewarding proposals with greater innovative power and discovering the next emerging design star is the task of the globally renowned iF DESIGN AWARD, which since 1954 has stood as a symbol of excellence in design. The same goes for the Red Dot Design Award, where factors such as functionality, aesthetics, and innovation are valued to select the award-winning products among thousands of designers, architects, and companies worldwide.
In addition to the quality of the product design, the jury’s evaluation also included aspects such as sustainability, longevity, and ergonomics. The KMDA 7473 Silence induction cooktop with integrated extractor meets these criteria, as it is a discreet and elegant cooking surface with a discreet rectangular design, catering to those who demand both aesthetics and functionality. Thanks to its flush-extraction system with high-quality stainless steel crossbars, it seamlessly integrates into modern kitchens. With flexible installation and maximum use of space, the cooktop even allows for the use of drawers in the cabinet located directly below. The result is maximum flexibility in kitchen design thanks to Miele’s quietest TwoInOne, automatic regulation of fan levels, and compact handling of the cooktop with a numeric keypad.
Similarly, the KM 7897 induction cooktop with DiamondFinish coating on the glass-ceramic surface has also been awarded. This cooktop can withstand continuous use of kitchen utensils, keeping it like new for longer and significantly reducing scratches from frequently moving cookware when cooking. With this new technology, scratches caused by sand are reduced by 95% and those caused by abrasive sponges by 70%.
These awards are further evidence of Miele’s commitment to continuously adapt to the latest trends in cooking, always attentive to the market and with a long-term perspective. All of this is done without forgetting the German brand’s commitment to sustainability, where they work tirelessly to always incorporate the latest technology into their appliances and make them sustainable, further reducing CO2 emissions and electricity bills.
Thus, aware of the fundamental role that kitchens play within a home, Miele reaffirms its commitment to creating spaces that combine practicality and beauty. Attractive and aesthetic designs that are also functional and purposeful, making consumers’ daily lives easier.

German support for Ukraine 'unwavering'
In a joint statement published following talks between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin, Germany said it "remains unwavering in its commitment to Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity."
The German government "supports Ukraine’s initiative for a just and sustainable peace" while maintaining the country's territorial integrity, the statement said.
It added that the two sides have agreed on the need “to bring to justice those responsible for war crimes and other atrocities” and to "increase pressure on Russia and those who are supporting its war efforts through further sanctions."
Berlin said it is committed to helping in the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine and that German businesses were ready to "support reconstruction efforts with know-how and technology."
The joint statement added that Germany actively "supports the modernization as well as reconstruction of the Ukrainian energy sector," following severe damage to energy infrastructure by Russia's military.
Other highlights from the text include how Germany "strongly supports Ukraine in its reform efforts and in meeting the requirements needed to start [European Union] accession negotiations," and Berlin seeks through the NATO-Ukraine Commission "to further increase and expand the partnership" between the military alliance and Ukraine.
Scholz-Zelenskyy hold Berlin news conference
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Germany would support his country "for as long as necessary."
Speaking at a news conference following talks between the pair in Berlin, Scholz said Germany had now committed €17 billion ($18.5 billion) in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
"We have close relations that will tie our countries for decades. In the face of [Russian] terror, we are moving closer together," Scholz added. "We are not only supporting Ukraine in humanitarian ways but also politically, financially and supplying weapons."
The German leader said Russia must be "made accountable for the crimes it has committed," describing how Moscow's forces have murdered and plundered during their nearly 15-month invasion.
Scholz also said he was pleased to be flying with Zelenskyy later Sunday to the western German city of Aachen so the Ukrainian president could receive the Charlemagne Prize which is awarded for efforts towards European integration.
Zelenskyy then thanked Germany for "supporting our nation ... for every life that you have saved."
The Ukrainian leader said Scholz had "shown leadership" that had "given all of us the opportunity to make the world a safer place."
Welcoming the new €2.7 billion military aid commitment from Germany, Zelenskyy said the package was a "strong pillar of support."
"Now is the time for us to determine the end of the war already this year, we can make the aggressor's defeat irreversible already this year," he added.
However, Zelenskyy also held out the prospect of "a just and fair peace," as Ukraine's territorial integrity is as important as any other nation.
Zelenskyy given military honors at German chancellery
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy received full military honors as he arrived at the chancellery in Berlin on Sunday morning.
Zelenskyy and Chancellor Scholz stood in silence as a military band played the Ukrainian and German national anthems before the pair moved inside.
DW's correspondent Nina Haase said Zelenskyy's visit was a symbol that the two countries are trying to open a new chapter in relations after Germany was initially hesitant in supporting Ukraine with lethal weapons to counter the Russian invasion.
"You can't overestimate how important this visit is to the German government," Haase said from a vantage point outside the chancellery.
"It comes at a time when Ukraine is preparing a massive counteroffensive [against Russian forces] and after Germany announced a big military package. So there are strong signals that Germany does stand strongly behind Ukraine."
On the eve of Zelenskyy's visit, Germany pledged a new package of military aid worth more than €2.7 billion ($3 billion).
The package contained 30 of Germany's Leopard tanks as well as fighting vehicles, reconnaissance drones and four Iris-T air defense systems seen as crucial to stopping Russian missiles from raining down on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
DW's political correspondent Thomas Sparrow said Zelenskyy's trip would also focus on longer-term goals.
"Many European countries have signaled that they would like Ukraine to be part of European structures or even trans-Atlantic structures like NATO. We may see some sign of support verbally but I don't expect that to happen in a concrete way just yet. [The visit] is not only about the immediate-term military and economic aid, it's also about the long 8erm perspective for Ukraine within the European Union framework," Sparrow said.
Steinmeier welcomes Zelenskyy to Berlin
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived for talks in Berlin with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Zelenskyy's motorcade pulled into Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the German head of state, on Sunday morning. Bellevue is located in the capital's Tiergarten district.
"In the most challenging time in the modern history of Ukraine, Germany [is] proud to be our true friend and reliable ally," Zelenskyy wrote in the guest book of the German presidency. "Together we will win and bring peace back to Europe."
It is his first visit to Germany since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Steinmeier visited Kyiv in October, following a difficult period in relations resulting from Steinmeier's advocacy of pro-Russia policies during his time as foreign minister.
After meeting with Steinmeier, Zelenskyy met Chancellor Scholz and his security cabinet.
Zelenskyy lands in German capital
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin late Saturday, according to his official Twitter account.    "Already in Berlin. Weapons. Powerful package. Air defense. Reconstruction. EU. NATO. Security," Zelenskyy tweeted.
Zelenskyy last visited Germany for the Munich Security Council event that year just before the war broke out.
The visit comes after the German government on Saturday offered its biggest military aid package yet to Ukraine as it seeks to repel Russia's ongoing attacks.
Zelenskyy may also visit Aachen for Charlemagne Prize ceremony
The Ukrainian president is set to be awarded the prestigious Charlemagne Prize on Sunday on behalf of the Ukrainian people.
The winner of the award was announced in December, and Zelenskyy will travel to the western German city of Aachen where the award is traditionally granted.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki were also expected to take part in the Aachen event.
On Saturday, Zelenskyy traveled to Rome for talks with political leaders and the pope. Germany is the ninth country he has visited since Russia's invasion — after the United States, Poland, Britain, France, Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Italy.
