All hail the new king of the hill! Just announced, the H Unman No.2 has been named the 2022 Cigar Aficionado Magazine “Cigar Of The Year” with a jarring 98 rating. CA Magazine has this to say, "It might be one of the best-kept secrets in the Cuban cigar world, as the typical Cuban cigar smoker tends to overlook the H. Upmann No. 2 for its more popular counterpart, the Montecristo No. 2. Because the two cigars are rolled in the same pirámide format, comparisons are going to be inevitable. Both share the exact same dimensions, but they don’t have nearly the same star power. Some smokers tend to come around to Upmann after going through the more common Cuban standards, so it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call the H. Upmann No. 2 an insider’s cigar. Nor would it be the first time that this cigar has made it to our Top 25 list, as we’ve often recognized it as a smoke of complexity, nuance and character. This year, we found the H. Upmann No. 2 to be the most exceptional cigar of 2022. Made in Havana, the H. Upmann No. 2 is sometimes misunderstood and dismissed as being too mild. NEW CIGAR!!! *Calling all Cuban cigar lovers* The Partagás Legado, the lone Edición Limitada released by Habanos S.A. for the 2020 class has made it’s way into our humidors! Measuring 6 1/8 x 48, a size known as the Hermosos No.2, that is not part of the brand’s regular production offerings and has only been used for Edición Limitada and Edición Regional releases, dating back to the Romeo y Julieta Hermosos No.2 EL 2004. It was also used in the Quai d’Orsay Senadores EL 2019. The tobacco comes from the Vuelta Abajo region of Pinar del Rió and is aged for a minimum of two years. The Edición Limitada series, Spanish for limited edition, contains cigars that are not part of a particular brand’s current production. Unlike other releases, which can only use certain brands, Edición Limitada cigars have come from nearly all pillars of the Habanos S.A. portfolio. Since 2005, every year has seen three Edición Limitada releases except 2015, when the company released two Edición Limitada cigars along with the Montecristo 80 Aniversario, which more or less functioned like an Edición Limitada. Typically, Habanos S.A. releases three new Edición Limitada cigars ever year. This year, there will only be one. They’re here, and they won’t last long!
