Astarion cannot concentrate on the blasted contract in front of him any longer. The delivery should have been here by now.

He only had a few hours before you returned from the Upper City and his entire plan for your first anniversary would be shot if the florists didn’t hurry the hells up.

“You said they would arrive by midday and now it’s nearly teatime, Pascal!” Astarion snaps at his steward, a middle-aged human with wide set eyes and a scar running horizontally along his nose bridge.

Pascal sits on the far end of Astarion’s office, reviewing a ledger. He slowly raises his eyes from the document to meet the petulant visage of his employer.

“That is what the florist told me, my Lord. But it is quite a large order. Fifty night-blooming plants and shrubs would likely take several carts, sir. It’s certainly possible they’ve run into delays along the way.” Pascal responds, his voice gentle but unbothered, as if he’s grown used to placating the moods of the vampire over the past year.

Astarion simply huffs in response, “We did not pay a premium for those ingrates to simply—“

He stops as his highly acute hearing catches the sound of wheels turning along the manor’s pebbled drive. By the raucous sound of it, there are several wagons making their way towards the home's entrance.

“Pascal, they're here. I will go greet them; round up the other servants and have them stop what they’re doing immediately. We will need all hands to make up for lost time.” Astarion says as he tosses the contract he’d been reviewing, leaving it with a large stack of papers scattered across his desk.

Several of those papers had the remnants of ink splotches and blood splatters from an hours-long drafting session he’d done on a business proposal the day prior. The goblet he'd been drinking from yesterday, dirtied with now-dried blood, sits haphazardly in the corner of the desk.

Astarion struggled to contain his natural propensity toward sloppiness. His mind often worked far too quickly for him to slow down and pay attention to trivial things like bloodstains and spilled ink.

However, after multiple gentle chastisements and one angry explosion from you, he’d managed to curb his disorganization to his office, which you accepted. The argument you two had, prior to coming to this arrangement, had truly terrified him.

The pale elf makes sure to grab the goblet and place it out in the foyer for the maid to grab; she had never been allowed to enter the master bedchambers or his office, for privacy. You two were responsible for keeping those areas tidy. Astarion did... almost nothing to his office, while you kept everything pristine in the bedroom.

Except for that one time before the argument. His mind wanders as he exits the office, reflecting on the memory that keeps him cleaning up his goblets.

He could tell by your voice alone that you were angry. Furious, in fact. The sound ripped him away from the contractor agreement he'd been reviewing.

“Astarion! How many times do I have to ask you to not leave cups of blood in the bedchambers!” Your voice came booming down the hallway before you burst into the office, causing the door to slam into the wall with a loud thud. His eyes caught sight of the angry red splotches on your face, and then trailed down to your wedding dress, clutched in your shaking hand.

There was a large, crimson bloodstain smattered along the train. He almost fainted at the sight.

So many hours of his own work. Drenched in blood.

“I’d laid this out for the servants to frame today, and Scratch ran into the bedroom and knocked the goblet of blood — that you left there, completely full, by the way — off your nightstand and onto the dress!” You were waving the grown vehemently as you spoke, voice cracking toward the end.

Oh, his little love was infuriated. His gut sank at the thought.

The anger in your voice sounded entirely foreign, it was rare for you to speak in such a manner to anyone. But towards him? Never. You always spoke to him in soft, adoring tones and little whispers. The only time you truly raised your voice had been in bed, and he rather liked it then.

But this? He did not like this one bit. It made his undead heart thrum with anxiety.

“My love, I—“ He begins, his voice honeyed and smooth in the usual tone he used to appease you, but you cut him off.

“I’m sick of your excuses and your words, Astarion! I’m sick of cleaning up after you! I have asked you more than once to not bring blood into the bedroom and you've deliberately ignored me. And the one time I don’t remove the damned goblet from the bedchamber look what happened! I can’t keep—“

You were crying by then. Large, angry tears rolling in streams down your face as you swiped angrily at your eyes. That dress, and the hours of work he'd put into it, had been a testimony of his love to you. His actions had made your heart soar; seeing the gown ruined caused your heart to break entirely.

And Astarion's heart almost broke at the sight of his little love so distraught, but he had no words nor actions to soothe you.

You closed your eyes and took a deep breath; he watched as the patches of red faded from your cheeks. When you opened them, the sight scared him and when you spoke, he was terrified.

Your face was blank, unreadable. Your tone was resigned. In that moment, in the absence of any discernible emotion, he felt certain you were going to leave him.

Eight months into a marriage and he was already failing; he knew he hadn't been cut out for this.

“I am very patient with you, Astarion. We both knew this wouldn’t be easy… with well, everything. Your condition, navigating my newfound fame, easing back into normalcy when we both have our baggage... but I chose this. I chose you. I choose you every day. Over and over. A hundred times a day."

You paused, and your eyes flicked between his, searching for something.

“I just wish I felt like you were still choosing me, too.”

And then you were gone. You left the dress crumpled on the floor as you turned and walked away.

As he moved from his desk to pick the garment up from the ground, he heard you call for Scratch and exit the front door. The sun was out, he couldn't follow you. And even if he did, there would be nothing he could say to placate you. He needed to give you time and space and wait for you to come to him; it was something he’d learned over the past eight months. Although he hated it.

So, he stayed in his office, trying to work, and failing at that, too.

After a few more hours, it was time to head to bed. When he entered your shared bedroom, he realized the goblet you'd spoken about had splattered over the sheets and onto the carpet, as well. He removed the goblet from the bedroom and placed it in the foyer; and then he changed the sheets, which you usually did. He waited for you to come to bed, but you never showed. Hadn’t he given you enough time by now?

Eventually he traveled to the guest chambers, certain you must be there sulking, and when he attempted to enter the room, the door was locked. He knocked tentatively on the door.

"Tav, darling--"

"No. And don't you dare pick the lock, Astarion."

"Tav, my sweet, please--"

"Please, Astarion. Please just leave me alone."

He wanted to pick the lock. Wanted to break down the door. Wanted to hold you in his arms and whisper apologies in your ear until you forgave him. But you always told him that his actions spoke louder than his words; honeyed lamentations would not work on you. Another thing he’d learned this past eight months.

And then he thought of the dress, which he'd left draped across the sofa in his office.

While you slept, Astarion set to work. He could have outsourced the task, sure... but truthfully, he did not trust anyone else with the fine detailing work he had spent several hours doing with his own hands. He'd created the masterpiece himself, after all, so perhaps it was best he restores it himself.

He worked gently, and for several hours, scrubbing the blood out of the fine fabric. His time with Cazador had taught him many things, and unfortunately a skill he used more often than he liked happened to be removing bloodstains from nearly any fabric.

By the time the gown was restored, his hands were raw from hours immersed in the harsh combination of soaps, chemicals, and water. It was past noon when he finished; you had certainly risen by now, but you hadn't come looking for him.

Astarion asked Pascal to place the gown in the sunroom to dry and then resigned himself to his office, back to reviewing contracts.

It was several hours later when you knocked on the office door, eyes downcast and face remorseful.

He didn't say anything, he just simply opened his arms and you crossed into the office before folding yourself in his lap. A few moments of quiet passed between you.

"I saw what you did to the dress. It must have taken hours... thank you." You finally whispered as your face nestled into the side of his neck. Your hot breath tickled, and he hummed in acknowledgement.

"It did, darling. And the skin on my hands certainly is not happy about it," He starts, and your hand comes to his as you bring it closer to your face, examining the uncharacteristically cracked knuckles and reddened flesh, "But you are worth the effort. And more. I'm sorry about the cups, my love.”

You placed a kiss on his chapped knuckle. An acceptance of the apology. And then you turned to face him and pressed a soft, tentative peck on his lips that made his entire body melt into you. Before long you two wound up on the floor of his office, and he made sure to use his actions to ensure you knew just how much he cared about you. How much he chose you.

And every day since then, he'd been certain to no longer bring goblets in the bedroom, and always leave them sitting in the foyer for the maid regardless of what room he was in. A tiny daily action signifying his love for you.

if you could headcanon angst fot each eddie what would it be? (youre hesrtbreakingly good at angst)

mafia!eddie’s is easy. angst about you getting hurt bc of his job. he got ‘sloppy’ (he didn’t) and trusted the wrong person or did the wrong thing. it’s his worst fear come true, repeating history. he’d go into nearly a mania state of paranoia trying to prevent it. a spiraling rampage and just completely loses his mind in a way.

older!eddie i’d say it’s the angst of gina. past relationship trauma and really the verbal and mental abuse she put him in. specifically, left him in when they divorced. how self conscious it made him, how anxious it made him, how deeply just fucked up and skewed his perception of love was.

modern!eddie it would be a good old fashioned break up. he’s too immature in the relationship. one too many fight about forgetting things, her having to do everything. just too much, really, and they break up. he’s in a deep depression after. genuinely heart broken but tbh needs to happen bc he’s gotta grow up a little.

rockstar!eddie is definitely when he does coke and is with the kids. i’m standing with that anon from ages ago (i think it was on the old blog maybe?) but twins are newborns, he’s trying to balance still working and touring and making music, being a dad to four young kids, and being a husband. he’s exhausted but he can’t be, does some coke, nb notices somethings off with how weird he’s been and finds it. she leaves him and goes to farrah’s. he absolutely loses his shit, spirals way out of control, checks himself into like a rehab spa place bc he’s not addicted really but he wants to learn healthy coping skills. has a teeny tiny nervous breakdown too from just everything.

cowboy!eddie is coming. trust.

dom!eddie this feels generic but he takes it too far. not physically but emotionally if that’s makes sense. i think early in the relationship, they’re kinda figuring out what they like, what they don’t. it’s easy with physical things bc he can see it. but he wants to do emotional too. says some hurtful shit in the name of “degrading” which she takes personally. he didn’t mean it but why did he say that, let alone think it (spoiler he heard it in a porno and thought it would be good to say lol). just very angsty miscommunication. definitely helps them establish hard lines on what goes and what doesn’t. realizes she likes being humiliated more than degraded so important in their dynamic but yikes. not fun.

bouncer!eddie he cheats on her. he’s so flirty anyways like that’s just his personality. he’s drunk, she’s not there, gets his dick sucked in the hideout bathroom after a gig when he’s so fucking drunk he can barely stand and sobs after he cums. he’s a wreck about telling you. decides not to lie (bc people there def saw it) and it’s horrendous. absolutely just angst and more angst and he didn’t mean to, you don’t believe him. worst of all you have to WORK together omfg. very not great.

janitor!eddie i pretty much destroyed him with ‘some sunny day’ so that? if it was with reader related, it’s definitely when he gets jealous over nothing. accuses her of cheating and flirting and taking advantage of him and being horrible, because one of the other teachers were flirting with her and she was uncomfortable. but he doesn’t try to hear her side of thing, just assumes and accuses and is deeply insecure, and like can’t be doing that lol.

Seb to best man, totally!!! Especially because he 1) helped lewis get the license to officiate the wedding and 2) helped mick with the proposal. He’s mick’s and lewis’ bestie and they def hang out whenever they can.

I have to add that I think mickyn would get married in secret though 👀 like, a small trip with just direct family, their parents, and siblings. It would be a small ceremony, maybe they rented a private beach because Yn always wanted to get married at the beach but she also wanted to do the whole church thing and you know how mick would do anything for her right? So he rented a portion of a beach Yn always talked about, and they spent a week there. It’s small, and intimate, everything party-related was either handmade by them or brought from locals. her dress was handmade by locals artisans too (corinna got everything ready and just surprised yn with it) and baby blue, it matched mick’s eyes and the water and sky behind them in the pictures. their families would spend a day after the ceremony and then fly back home leaving the two to enjoy a small honeymoon. once they get back home everyone is a bit sus because the whole hamilton and schumacher family went mia for a week, and then mick and yn show up all giddy (more than ever), and it's not hard to find, but only because they decide to tell their friends, and set an official date for the big party. It will take six months or so, they’ll get married in a church, following the rites, yn wearing a white dress, mick a tux, seb best man, jack, and laura bearing the rings, roscoe and angie with the flowers, charles will play the piano, he’ll probably gift them with a special composition, danny will have his camera around his neck all smiley and wavey registering some moments, and lando will play dj at the party. It will be HUGE as you can imagine, the whole grid, and people that work with them on a regular basis, even rihanna and asap rocky attended bc reader loves them and of course they wouldnt pass an invitation from the hamiltons (now a schumacher-hamilton)

How do you think madlyn dating era would go if we had a next season? Also what do you think about ricky and gina romance this season?

I am very indifferent to who Gina and Ricky dates, so their dating scenes with each other were really cute, but I wasn’t invested-invested. I am happy if they are happy.

Now, Madlyn… I am very much guessing they’d want them to stay together and I think a lot would just them be cuddly and fluffy all around. Thinking Brittana level of just having them sit together, linking fingers, leaning into each other… and possibly getting to kiss at the same range they got to now (aka full out making out)

If they’ll have any drama it’s probably gonna be very small. They don’t strike me as a ”bicker over everything” couple and I don’t think they’d wanna do you that with them either. I do see them wanting to surprise each other with gifts and trying too hard to hide it, being chaotic about it. ”NOOO DON’T GO IN THERE BECAUSE… *the most odd excuse possible*”

I thought Ashlyn was a senior because I have no idea about their ages (glee s3 all over again thinking everyone was the same age), but she’s a junior. Otherwise Maddox would go kiss at graduation stage def at the end of the season.

I was curious if you still have hope for Portwell? I saw that some portwells still have hope. I personally lost all hope mainly bc r*na is so popular and I don't think that Tim won't make them endgame... It's sad that, nowadays, many ships happen bc of fanservice... You don't even have to look from a storytelling perspective to see where things are going, you just have to check what the fandom says and that's prob gonna happen... One thing that I don't get tho... If Tim really wanted for r*na to be canon since ep 1x5, why did he spend all s2 to make us not ship them? In the second half they didn't have any interactions. Gina was still annoyed with him in ep 2x11. Why didn't Tim plant some seeds for them in the second half of s2? Why is Gina most of the time the one who does sth in that relationship and when Ricky does sth, it's bc Gina asked? And the only time when he has initiative they ruin that (taking his role seriously for her (ep 3x4) and later they reveal that he didn't even read the whole script on the opening night day). I personally could never ship them. I saw potential in s1 but after that they were ruined. S3 just tried to hide the s2 mess under the carpet instead of cleaning it (Ricky still does the bare minimum for Gina and he wasn't held accountable for how he hurt her in s2, he should've apologised!!!). Idk but Gina deserves so much better... They'll prob make Ricky the best bf to her in the next seasons, but that won't change the way they got together (with Gina putting in most of the effort)... That means she is ok with the bare minimum as long as she is with Ricky which is really sad... She deserves so much more... Portwell deserved so much more... s2 Portwell would've def survived that summer... I hate fan service for ruining them...

I’m shocked to hear anyone still has hope for canon Portwell, ngl. I do not and can’t imagine ever having any ever again tbh. They not only effed them up pretty bad but the writers have lost me entirely. At this point I’d dread seeing what this team would do with them if they tried again.

To answer the rest of this ask, I will die on the hill that Gicky was not actually the plan or endgame or any of this nonsense backtracking Tim’s been doing. I can believe that when he put them together in season one it ended up intriguing him more than he had thought, but considering what they did with season two clearly it wasn’t enough for him to switch up the plan at that point to put them together or set up something in the future - quite the opposite soooooo tell me again how this was always the plan? Sure, Jan.

It’s so obvious to anyone paying the tiniest bit of attention that Olivia left, so they shifted everything to give Ricky another love interest that they thought could compete in any way with Rini and lose the least amount of viewers upon her departure. Gina was the only real option. They didn’t even do it WELL cause they cared more about doing it as quickly as possible.

I admit that during season three I don’t know if I would have claimed it was fan service, but after seeing that Tim had a version of that final scene where he jumped on that entirely unfounded and random Gicky theory about the chocolates, unfortunately, I have to agree with you.

I will never not be disappointed that this show that brought me such joy, was written so well, didn’t do all the garbage you would expect from this kind of show, and boasted about being proud that they were telling stories of good people being good to each other, has turned into such trash.

S2 Portwell will forever be one of my favorite ships, winning me over completely (as an anti and Gicky fan going into that season) because of how well they wrote it . Alas, another casualty of outside factors switching up the plan and terrible choices being made by those in charge as a result.

The Summer of Portwell was one for the books, but now, for that HEA fanfiction is where it’s at, friends!

We finally hear the name of Rip's backup guys: Creed and Feng. Tatiana takes them both on while Andy and Fuuko go after Latla and Rip.

Andy hacks himself to bits trying to find an attack that will work on Rip. He succeeds in firing his forearms and it works because it wasn't an attempt to heal (I think?)

It's a good thing Andy has unlimited projectiles to test his ideas!

Rip invites Andy to his side because he's the kind of guy who doesn't hold grudges against people if they can be useful to him.

We see Latla take care of Rip's broken nose. So far, almost all of her actions have been taking care of him. She blocks for him, warns him of danger, gives him a social cover ("Just showing my gf the stars..."), and fixes his nose. BTW, she didn't get rid of the jacket he told her to toss until page 7 of this chapter. She probably needed it for a blood spray shield!

When Andy turns Rip down, he offers a spot to Fuuko and compares her to Chikara. Am I the only one who thinks Rip gave up way too early on Chikara? In the previous chapter, he said Chikara wasn't worth anything to them if he couldn't unconsciously control his power, but by God the boy is only 17! Isn't that something he could learn to do?

In this chapter, he straight up calls Chikara a dud. Wasn't every Negator a dud at some point? Rip is quick to judge people as useful or not, but it doesn't seem like he's putting a lot of thought into those judgments.

Rip explains that the Negator Hunters want to take over the world for to show people who's really in charge, which is still pretty vague language.

During Rip's monologue, Andy sneaks in with a surprise attack that gives him a clue to Latla's power.

Unlike Gina, Latla can't be using forcefield or barriers, because the blood still hit her. Somehow, she's changing trajectories.

Rip throws a scalpel at Chikara, but Andy jumps in front of it. Since Andy can't slow its speed with his regeneration, it goes through him and hits Fuuko.

OK, so not right in the boob. But it did look like that, right?

Rip questions why she would try to save Chikara. More and more, he comes off like a selfish, callous person who only cares about what he can get from people.

Fuuko tries to make the best of it in the most heartbreaking way possible.

Andy suddenly has gloves on? He's using Clothy on the fly now. He thinks about pulling out the card, but she tells him to be his usual self.

And with that, Rip makes a cool villain getaway and the mafia turns on Andy and Fuuko. Seeing Fuuko in danger gives Chikara the courage to use his ability.

He couldn't use it when he was just trying to save himself, but when he needed to protect other people, he did it almost without thinking.

The chapter ends with Andy leaping away with the other two in his arms. There is an hour left to kill Rip in order to deactivate his ability and save Fuuko.

From a storytelling perspective, I think that Tim tried to tell the story he wanted, but after he saw the critics about s2, he changed the story. I think there is a truth in what he said about r*na and the car scene: he started to think about them, but as a backup plan. S2 shows that he tried to make ppl ship Portwell and stop shipping r*na, without actually killing r*na (like he did with ejxnini). This didn't work, so he went with the backup plan. I think that he was smart enough to not close the door for r*na, but saying that they were the plan (the main plan) is def a lie... if that was really the plan, the s2 story would have been different. The discrepance between the end of s2 and the start of s3 says it all. At the end of s2 Gina shows no interest in Ricky and EJ doesn't see him as a threat, meanwhile in 3x1 EJ suddenly sees him as a threat and Gina is shown to still have feelings for him. To make sense, they should have shown these things at the end of s2, but they didn't... So, what I think is that Tim had a lot of faith in Portwell and when he saw that it didn't have the impact he wanted, he went with the backup plan.

I am the kind of person who likes a good slow burn (which isn't the case for r*na). For example (idk if you watched Girl Meets World), Riarkle (Riley and Farkle) was that ship that was def planned from the beginning and was done really well. They were the kind of ship of show and don't tell (not like r*na cough cough). For example, they were shown to have much deeper conversations than the rival ship, Rucas (Riley and Lucas), while the characters kept saying that Rucas was so good at communicating. And this is just one example. Unfortunately, they didn't end up together bc the show was cancelled, but I am 100% sure that they were endgame.

Coming back to hsmtmts, I always tend to pay more attention to ppl's actions than to their words. That's why I, personally, don't believe Tim's words.

I love how you bring up Farkle and Riley because we can use them as an example of how a slow burn SHOULD play out. The couple at the time (Riley and Lucas) liked each other, but in fandom spaces no one (or almost no one) liked them together. That's because the show made you feel discomfort with them, like something was missing, like it wasn't quite right. You knew, even when they were at their best, that their relationship wouldn't last forever, it was a means to an end. I think, if Rina was supposed to be endgame all along, this is what they should've done with Rini and Portwell.

In fact, S2's Portwell arc shouldn't have existed all together. They could've easily made them besties and nothing more, while Ricky got out of his terrible relationship with Nini. But they didn't do that. They didn't push you in the direction of shipping rina, in fact they were pushing hard for portwell. Because that was the plan. And then it didn't work out and Tim dusted Rina's relationship and made it a thing again in S3. And they were pushing for rina now, hard.

A good slow burn can have one of the people be in a relationship, Joey and Rachel for example. But the writers don't make the couple more than fun and games, or on the other side of the spectrum, they make them not fit well. In hsmtmts, in my opinion, this wasn't the case at all.
