The One About Law and Zoro
LawZo, ZoLaw,,, there's so just much to say about them
Okay, so I've talked about Zoro (saying WAY to much oops) and Law (I swear to god, I hope those links work)
These two seemingly cool and smart and put-together swordsmen, who in reality are just complete dumbasses of the slightly petty variety (Law) and the you-must-have-guardian-angel-watching-you-because-seriously-how-are-you-not-dead-yet variety (Zoro... actually, both of them, technically, but Zoro in the dummy sort of way, like damn, stop putting yourself in such situations. Or do, I guess, whatever, character and all that, plus I'm having fun hehe >:) anyway)...
Honestly, they drive me insane... every time they're together, I just...
Tumblr media
Okay, sorry, sorry.
Anyway, the world's quickest summary of the first two posts:
Zoro -> requires trust, protective instinct (to protect himself (emotionally) and others)
Law -> fueled by spite, protective of others
Now right off the bat there's a lovely little parallel here and that is Zoro and Law both being very protective of those they love. Neither one is going to protect themselves, but each other... >:)
(Like legitimately, if they were together, talk about "to the ends of the earth" hehe)
The one issue to this little coin of familiarity I've placed them on is in how they differ. Zoro has an absolute need for trust, because he needs people to rely on him. He needs to be able to protect the people he loves and needs those people to know that he can protect them. He needs absolute transparency and trust, and when he doesn't get it, he pushes them away (at least verbally, he tries to tell himself he doesn't care) in a bid to protect himself.
And Law (the dummy /affectionate) in comparison pushes away those he loves in the hopes of protecting them instead of letting them in on what is happening.
Basically, those two would be so insanely dedicated to each other... and by god would a fall out be insane (now that's an idea) (also not that either of then would show that dedication, they're both quite reserved/stoic, haha)
(Sorry, but it's just so interesting, like, if they were together, and Law did one of those self-sacrificial going off on my own things, like how would Zoro react to that?? Zoro dedicates himself so wholly to people, would he try to shut himself out, just "accepting" it?? Would he forgive in the aftermath? (I feel like yes, given his track record, for all that he holds on to goals, he doesn't seem to really hold grudges at least against those he loves?) To what extent? What would the relationship look like in the aftermath of that... okay I'm like two seconds away from closing this and writing a fic, I need to stop)
Anyway, anyway, they just fit so well together. The same (surface) laid-back attitude (and absolutely insane underneath), the same protective drive, Zoro and his loyalty (fitting just perfectly with how loyal the Heart Pirates are...), if Law is surprisingly bloodthirsty, actually and I don't think it really needs to be explained that Zoro is as well
(Cursed swords, swordsmen, earrings, the fact that Law calls Zoro, Zoro-ya, like fuck off seriously, my poor heart)
They really do complement each other so well T-T
(No, actually, who approved the Zoro-ya, who, please, why, why, are you trying to kill me 😭🫠)

Emo RD Rambles 3: Patient Playlist
Welcome back to Emo Cannot Write For Shit So You All Get His Rambles. With an additional thing at the end winkwink. This is really really long so let's get cracking.
Today's concept: Ian and Ada approach the idea of creating a Patient Radio - a playlist made of the long term patient's favourites songs to 'maximise comfort'.
As a beta for the Radio, they leave a sheet of paper in the connecting hallway for patients to list suggestions of their preferred music, around three or four songs maximum. Some already have ideas in mind, while others struggle.
This is just a silly idea I had when wondering what type of music the main RD cast listens to; excluding the songs they're actually involved in. This also created some funny writing prompts that I may use for a small comedic anthology. For example:
Hailey is the first person to write anything down: and she's pretty basic (sorry). Her style is very mainstream, involving those pop songs you'd hear on the radio. From there, a few folks follow, with varying genres and tastes. The next day, however, more folks have added some ideas, including Logan. You can tell Logan has visited - because there is now a messy heart drawn next to Hailey's suggestions.
Also, Logan suggests similar stuff to Hailey, with the addition of maybe an anime opening or two.
Cole... suggests his own music. For the sake of both his ego, and the declining state of the patients, he's given a stern 'no'. Of course, it's Cole, so he angrily scribbles out his suggestions and leaves the paper be. He's surprised when 'Unreachable' comes on via the Patient Radio - and, sure enough, someone's written it down past his scribbling. More specifically, Samurai. He even signed it! (By that, I mean the writing is just "Unreachable- Cole Brew (SAMURAI)". All of Samurai's suggestions are signed this way.)
Insomniac writes down only one suggestion: a traditional Japanese folk song (or 'hōgaku'). This would be fine - if he wrote the song's title in Romaji. Instead, the song is written in pure, specific kanji characters.
Ada returns to Ian come the night with a new version of the paper: "Hey, so, uh- I got the paper back today and there's some new stuff from the swordsmen. Any idea what this is?" Ian turns, "Hah?" before seeing the kanji. There's a slight pause before he just casually goes, "Oh! This is (insert Japanese title here)! That's easy, I'll type it up." Ada learns that Ian learnt how to read kanji entirely just for the songs he listens to that are in Japanese.
Oh yeah: the moment this song plays on the radio, the Insomniac falls asleep. Hell, he sleeps like a baby. Unfortunately, they can't play it on loop, but now they know he appreciates a lil' lullaby.
Speaking of Ian and Ada, they decide to add some of their own songs to the mix (Ian mostly - he felt it was a little unfair that the patients get to listen to banger tunes). Ian adds quite a variety, but we cannot ignore the fact he adds maybe one or two vocaloid songs.
Ada, unfortunately, is a little embarrassed of her status as a former theatre kid, still musical lover. She, instead, uses a few common songs from the radio to add to the list. Ian convinces her, after a little while, to add a really popular song from her favourite musical. I do not know what musical this is.
There's a surprising amount of patients that add jazz to the radio, or at least music from the 1950 to 1980's era. For one, the Stevensons' accidentally add the same song to the list twice, given Mr. Stevenson can't read his wife's handwriting that well anymore (I'll elaborate on why later). This also just so happens to be a song that played in their wedding. They have a ball dancing to it.
Additionally, the Miner also includes a bit of Rock 'n' Roll or otherwise jazz into his suggestions. They're very old for the 30-something nut, but it adds up. He also, thanks to Cole, includes a little chiptune.
Hugh somehow adds the tutorial theme. You know, the tutorial song from Rhythm Doctor. Nobody recognises the title, or the artist, but everyone in the ward has a mutual moment of "I swear I've heard this before". Hugh doesn't comment.
There's a slight cultural shift once Insomniac includes his traditional tune. It's not the only Non-English hit, and Ian/Logan do add a couple of Japanese songs to the pile.
In Nicole's case, she ends up not sure what to suggest, but still wanting to take part. So, she ends up adding a Chinese pop song, quote: "I don't know any Chinese myself, but my mom would put this on a lot, and I didn't have anything else that'd be good for a hospital radio."
Lucky adds two jazz, and a rock song to the radio. The biggest issue is that he originally aimed to add a Spanish song from his childhood, but got caught in his own head, scribbling it out halfway. The good thing? Miner is able to read bits and pieces, writing what he could make out - angering Lucky into writing the full title. He jumps when it plays on the radio days later.
I believe that's everything I had listed. Thanks to RDL for allowing me to compile all of my thoughts before adding them here, as these are now far more conjoined.
Oh, right! The bonus thing! Considering the song suggestions were taken on a piece of lined paper, I thought it would be fun to visualise what I believe the main casts' handwriting would look like:
Tumblr media
If you have any thoughts/additions you want to make, you have full reign to send me asks/reblog this with whatever you like. Have a good one, lads - EMO

more morph brainrot hours presents:
FMA x BOTW AU i actually gave this so much thought and i really like it so les go
For our core cast we have Ed and Al as Link (kinda sorta) and Winry as Zelda.
Winry is in this AU actually the Queen of Hyrule, having inherited the kingdom in her teenage years when her parents died unexpectedly and before the Calamity she is still very much just a teen. The stress of that combined with the weight of the prophecy and her not being able to unlock her sacred power does not go well with her. She often escapes to guardian and mechanical research to ignore her responsibilities.
Ed and Al are Winry's childhood friends and personal guards. The two are exceptional swordsmen and they found the Master Sword in the Lost Woods at a young age. They try to help Winry whenever they can with her responsibilities and push her to go have a little fun every once in a while.
OK AND ON TO THE CHAMPIONS im actually most excited about this part
For the Zora we have Champion Maes, King Roy, and the head of the Zora Guard Riza. Ed, Al, and Winry often visited Zora's Domain and Winry is especially close with Maes.
For the Gorons we have Champions Sig and Izumi. Izumi was Ed and Al's old teacher who lives in Goron City. They failed to mention that Izumi is in fact a Hylian when talking about her to Winry, so Izumi was Winry's first pick for a Goron Champion. Sig and Izumi both fill the Champion role anyways haha
For the Rito we have Champion Ling, picked out of his many siblings in hopes of someday becoming the Chieftan of Rito Village. Ed and Ling have an ongoing rivalry.
For the Gerudo we have Chief May. May is especially close with Winry and the two often visit each other, aiding each other in times of any need both as young leaders of their kingdoms.
When the Calamity occurs, Ed and Al almost die protecting Winry from the guardians, Ed losing his arm and leg and Al full on dying. Winry activates her powers then and manages to save Al's soul in the Sheikah Slate (if Mineru can do it then Hylia incarnate can figure it out) and save Ed from dying. She brings Ed to the shrine of resurrection and tasks Pinako and Paninya to build Ed a new arm and leg and Al a new body from her blueprints in the Sheikah Slate. As much as she'd rather work on them herself, Calamity Ganon is still out there. So she heads to the castle alone to contain Calamity Ganon.
Al is given a new body and stays on the Great Plataeu waiting for Ed to wake up. Initially Pinako and Paninya stay with him, but Al convinces them that it's ok for them to leave. They still visit him every once in a while until they're gone.
100 years later, King Roy and Captain Riza are still trying to find a way into Vah Ruta in desperate hope that Maes is still alive in there somewhere. The Gerudo have a male Chieftain only referred to as 'Scar'. There is a rumor that Rito Champion never died within Vah Medoh and instead escaped (or became) the blight that plagued all the other Divine Beasts
------------------------
Ok gonna explain some of my thought processes behind these choices under the cut >:D
The issue with botw is that there are two groups of people who are both very close to the core protags but also exist in very different time periods. The only group that surpasses that is the Zora because of their long lifespan. That was my main motivation for placing Roy, Riza, and Maes as Zoras.
Initially I wanted Riza to be the Champion, but then I decided that Maes would be more fitting (mainly because he also dies in fma asdfjkladfs). In botw, King Dorephan holds on to the hope that Mipha is still alive in Vah Ruta and is part of his motivation to get into Vah Ruta. That perfectly matches with Roy's actions towards Maes' death so yeah!
For the choice for May, initially i did want to put her with Ling and Lan Fan as rito, but I decided I didn't want to do away with her relationship with Scar, especially since their relationship is a lot more important in fma. Scar being the pre-calamity Chief would, I think, also not work as well because he's hostile towards the main protags for like, 90% of fma and I also didn't want to break away that relationship. Him being hostile towards Ed and Al fits in a lot more if he was a post-calamity Chief and his anger would be spurred on by May's death in blaming the Hylians, similar to Mipha.
May as pre-calmity gerudo chief also gives more opportunity for a similar relationship like Urbosa and Zelda between May and Winry. The Champions are close, and May is the best choice out of my selections for gerudo :D
I had a lot of trouble with picking the Gorons and I really loved the idea of Izumi being the Goron Champion. However, I. could not think of a way I would design her being a Goron because the. her. the shapes are just sooooo so different :( so I added Sig instead! Sig is a goron and Izumi moved to Goron City to live with him :D In the Vah Rudania chase, Al with his new sheikah tech body is the one who acts as a human cannonball lol
As for Ling, he doesn't have as many siblings as in fma but enough to warrant him competing to become the future Chieftain. Lan Fan does not exist in pre-calamity. When the Calamity happens, Ling in fact does not die and instead absorbs windblight, fleeing and going into hiding. The blight gives him extended life and he lives on until Ed wakes up 100 years later. Lan Fan is the daughter of the Captain of the Rito Guard and found out that the rumors about the Rito Champion of old was indeed true. He was alive.

just read the dreaming of canon scenarios... what if the SOL dreamt of the events of Trio of Deep Sin? how would they react? [can you do the canon route and the with ise as the dragon son route? its okay if you just want to one instead of two]
Hmm... well I think they'd be pretty disconcerted at the lengths the titular trio went to just to get "revenge" on the swordsmen, especially considering that their grudges basically just amount to them being mad for something that's both not their fault and also totally impossible anyway. Having powerful swords and magic pocketbooks doesn't change the fact that they can't save everybody, that they're only human and can only do so much to stop evil.
I think Rintaro would be especially disturbed by the man claiming to be his father- after all, what sort of loving father would erase him from the lives of his other loved ones (and vice versa) and make his kid's existence solely dependent on his own? That's just straight up abuse, man. He'd probably be glad he never met his sperm donor and would acknowledge that his master was his true father.
Kento... I think he'd just feel sorry for Yuina, even if she basically lied to him during "their relationship". He of all people knows the lengths people would go to for the ones they love (cough emo potato sack coat idiocy era cough). He'd be pretty embarrassed by the way he proposed to her though, lol.
I think Touma would have the most complicated feelings about it given that Mamiya/Riku was supposedly his kid. On one hand, his life got upended and he lost everything he cared about- his friends, his family, his life's work and dreams, and even his effing dog- for absolutely nothing. Mamiya's grudge was literally just a misremembered memory.
Sure, it got "fixed" in the end, but at what cost?
On the other hand... he probably wouldn't be able to hate Mamiya/Riku even if it did happen, because in his heart of hearts he knows he could never hate a child he calls his own, even one that destroyed his life. He would probably rather accept his fate than harm his own kid, especially if it's just him that was hurt. (Which, of course, complicates his feelings further since Mamiya's actions affected all the swordsmen.)
