Some 3.6 million salaried workers would newly qualify for overtime pay under a proposed rule unveiled by the US Department of Labor on Wednesday. It would guarantee overtime pay of at least time-and-a-half for most salaried workers earning less than $1,059 a week, or about $55,000 a year.
The current threshold is $684 per week, the equivalent of roughly $35,600 a year, which was put in place by the Trump administration in 2019.
The proposed rule would transfer $1.2 billion in wages from employers to employees, mainly from new overtime premiums or pay raises to maintain the exempt status of certain affected employees, the agency said.
Also, the proposal would automatically update the salary threshold every three years so it keeps pace with earnings changes.

So he’s supposed to give testimony Under Oath to Congress on the 14th, same day he’s announcing intentions to run for President?
This explains WHY he chose the 14th to announce!
He won’t show up to testify. This will demonstrate to his followers he’s above the law and he’ll claim this is all “a witch hunt”.
His followers will eat it UP!! Because they’re sycophants (sick-ophants?) in a cult.
He needs to be arrested and in jail ON the 14th BEFORE he can announce his candidacy.
You watch and see if I’m right.

A powerful Senate Democrat has threatened to send a subpoena to conservative megadonor Harlan Crow, who provided luxury travel and engaged in private real estate deals with Clarence Thomas and his family, escalating tension between democrats and Crow over his relationship with the Supreme Court justice.
Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, reacting to the latest letter from Crow’s lawyer declining to offer details on his relationship with Thomas, made the suggestion of a subpoena Tuesday.
The Oregon Democrat said he has begun “productive discussions” on next steps to compel answers from Crow, “including by subpoena.”
It’s the first time Wyden has said specifically that a subpoena is under consideration.
“This is exactly why the Finance Committee is pursuing this matter as part of its broader review of gift and estate tax practices of ultra-high net worth individuals,” Wyden said.

The Republican party is simply broken. People who were seen as heroes of the party are now excoriated for taking one step off the primrose path they had declared to be the unarguable truth.
They cannot be allowed near anything involving the use of power.
Maybe electric toothbrushes, but that’s it.
