I used to take the taxis home late after working at the bar and it was really only a one and a half year period in time when they had those stickers in the back of the Cabs in nyc, the map of the city, and I would make inane chit chat with the driver cause I usually was somehow slightly lubricated with courage from the night at the bar or we would get the driver to turn up the radio that was another good trick and then I would slowly peel the sticker off the back of the seat. Slowly slowly slower he almost noticed You’re more interested in the story you’re leaning forward and put a little more quickly as he coughs or as he makes a sudden stop or turn or honk the horn or curses out another driver that stickers coming off that stickers coming homeAnd then we pulled in front of our destination or some other bar I think two of them ended up on my guitar cases because we weren’t going home. And that’s how we used to get the stickers off the back of the taxi cab seats. I would stick them to my leather pants the white leather pants worked best for some reason I think twice I almost got them home on jeans but then I ripped them trying to get them off. The leather pants worked best. I think I attempted five in total got three hometown of which are still on guitar cases and the other one I couldn’t get off the back of the door at Shangri-La in Brooklyn when I moved. after that year and a half they put plexiglass over them and you couldn’t get the stickers off anymore. They got wise to our antics. And that’s the story of the New York City transit taxi cab sticker map that’s on my guitar case.
