Finished the HGUC Penelope Gundam and I thought it’d be a great time to line up all of my UC Gundams! It’s so funny to me how they get so big, then by F91 they implode to mini size (even if the HGUC F91 is like 1/132 scale and not 1/144…)

so we were gifted the Penelope/Odysseus Gundam and man

this thing might be a HG but you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a full on MG, not just for size but build quality as well!

building the Odysseus Gundam on its own was really fun & satisfying, if this kit was just the Odysseus alone i would've been satisfied but NOPE

THERE'S THIS THING

and i am SO impressed with the build quality of it. I was worried the legs would simply flop down from all the additional weight but nah! it poses AND stands just fine!

(there's a limited range of motion due to all the added armour but that's more or less unavoidable)

did i mention this thing is BIG? because it's Big

(normal HG barbatos for comparison)

I'm very, very happy with both the build process and finished product. 10/10 would suggest getting if you're in the mood for some big plastic

Well, a short while ago, there was a 'Build Your Own Thunderbird 2' done by ModelSpace / Deagostini that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED.

It was a 1:144 perfect replica scale model of the TOS Thunderbird 2 as well as SEVERAL iconic pod vehicles and non-Thunderbird Craft, all at the 1:144 scale.

It was my pride and joy (destroyed by the watermain, much like my gunpla, Zoids, transformers, comics, and books) and I keep hoping that we'll see the other 'Birds being made. a 1:144 One with her Bay and perhaps a few other vehicles, a 1:144 Three and Five as a set...

I LOVE building things (it's why I love Zoids and Gundam so much) and it was a PERfect REPLICA with working standing legs that let 2 rise and settle with the touch of a button, had various sounds and lights... just AWESOME

I want more merch like that!!

I've got some more pics of her SOMEWHERE, I just need to find them

Questions for the Mun meme - Accepting!

💙 - Are there any muses you’ve been considering trying out?

Not too many, especially where anime/manga muses are concerned. Because I've been roleplaying for as long as I have, I'm old, and I'm not really current with what the Popular Fandoms are (I think the only current shows with big fandoms I'm familiar with are Spy x Family and Tokyo Revengers (next on my list are two newer Gundam shows! I need to catch up on Iron-Blooded Orphans and Witch From Mercury), not counting older shows that are ongoing or have reboots), I've written most of the anime/manga muses I enjoy writing for. That said, Fujiko Mine is usually sequestered in my brain somewhere. She's pretty much the only one I've retained over the years from my pre-Sonia writing days.

That said, if I felt more at ease writing fantasy content, I'd probably try Nesta Archeron and Elain Archeron from A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Bryce Quinlan from Crescent City. If I found the right muns/historical muses for her, I'd probably give Francesca Bridgerton from Bridgerton a try, though I could probably be talked into Penelope Featherington as well. I read and watch a lot more live action stuff than anime these days, honestly: I feel like it's difficult to get into most of the popular anime/manga series nowadays. I keep being nostalgic for older series.

So I finally got around to watching the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway anime movie. I am going to talk about what I liked and disliked about it but I want to first say that this is MY OPINION and that there will be spoilers.

What I liked:

The animation was really good and clean. I am glad that they went away from the 3D CGI type of animation that the Gundam The Origin movies use.

Hathaway is a pretty decent character even though his true intentions are easy to see before the twist happens.

The action is very well animated, especially how they use different perspectives throughout.

Does the job of setting up a sequel or some sort of continuation of this story.

What I Disliked:

Hathaway’s true intentions are too easy to notice before they reveal it in the movie. I don’t know if that was intentional but it’s true. Once he says that he was in Char’s Rebellion I knew that he was not going to be friend to the Earth Federation. Plus, they do make the Federation look bad in this movie.

The whole “Mafty is Char Aznable Reborn” is just so cliché and just like every time in the U.C. timeline they make a new antagonist and they always calls themselves the next Char Aznable.

The Penelope and XI Gundam designs are kind of too big and ugly in my opinion.

The music is either non-existent or sticks out like a sore thumb, like the first battle scene they used this rock song that felt really out of place.

The character of Gigi I didn’t like all that much. She does like two things in the movie and spends the rest of the movie getting hit on by that new Federation captain guy and being told my him she is his good luck charm. I just felt a lack of character development for her.

Ultimately, it was not a bad Gundam movie but I definitely think that the last one I watched, Mobile Suit Gundam: Narrative, was much better than this one but, again, that’s just my opinion. I really felt like this was just an average anime movie and I hope they continue the story soon.
