Today is Gundam Wing's 24th Anniversary... It's also the 40th Anniversary of the entire Mobile Suit Gundam Franchise.

I'm celebrating in bits and pieces today. Considering how it's also National Poetry Month in Canada, should I make a poetic short?

Let's do it - before I forget, Happy Birthday Relena!

She has a sassy side. ^

A fearless spirit. ^

Takes risks. ^

And she eventually became the Foreign Exchange Minister of the Earth Sphere, at the age of sixteen (pretty young, but considering the circumstances of the plotline, there were many youngsters who had to deal with war and its aftermath).

Musical Tidbits (Secret Magic AU) *HeadCanon Time*

• Duo and Wufei have the best range and flexibility.

• Duo started very young when his parents were around (his mother was a vocal coach and choir director). Solo is his brother in this SM!verse as well. Music is in their blood.

• Heero was gifted a bass guitar and started composing his own tunes. Also wrote and rehearsed, "The Shooting Star She Saw" in Japanese. He sang that song at his first audition and (the group's first managers) put that song on their first album.

• Quatre grew up in Saudi Arabia and in France. One of his older sisters was working (or volunteering) at a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool. He'd met Triton (Trowa) over there and, even at a tender age, they both shared a strong inclination to making music. So they did a rendition of "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah". Got their teachers and peers clapping. During this presentation at recess, Quatre played the violin while Triton played the flute.

((sidenote: Heero! I also gave him a cousin (a few) who poke around jokes (specifically with what used to be stage presence, and later on, whether or not he's into Duo).))

• One of them is Van Fanel. Van and Heero had almost ended up in the final lineup, but Van secretly requested that he joins Escaflowne while Heero hangs out “with the other three guys” (Quatre, Duo and Wufei). It took an extra week before management discovered Trowa at a video shoot for The Get Backers... He got their business card and showed up the following day (which also surprised Quatre, since they hadn't seen each other for so long).

• Wufei - kept his singing a secret from his clan, yet was caught dancing around and drumming things. One of his cousins had found out about it and sent for him (to come to America) prior to an arranged marriage (his grandfather had also helped him escape that). Long story short, he intimidated other hopefuls at the arena, but during his tenure, Zechs and Master A. agreed that Wufei had soul in his voice, and were quite impressed with his drumming skills on the trap set (drum set).

• Trowa knows how to set up a stage, lights, props and all. He's also responsible for half of the costumes/wardrobe that the group would wear to perform; on the red carpet; at press conferences; interviews (occasionally), and so forth.

• Quatre is also adept at the keyboard, and teaches Heero piano.

• Wufei's exposure to Hip-hop culture (in the suburbs where his cousin Sheung-Fu lived) became an additional outlet. Half of the songs he wrote were inspired by rap. On rare occasions, his fellow bandmates join him. When the others discover their ability to spit rhymes in secret, Trowa admits that he's fully comfortable with it.

• Heero spends some quality time with Duo during the most complicated era within their group. Juggling life and demands with a new management team, Heero trusts Duo with his bass guitar. In exchange, Duo teaches Heero how to find his vocal passaggio.

• Trowa can also play string and percussion instruments. His favourite one is the electric guitar.

• On one rare occasion, Quatre invites the group over for games and a sleepover. They go out the following day to learn various string instruments in the violin family.

• Duo teaches Quatre and Trowa how to expand their voices. “It's the best way to survive being pop idols. The more you can manage, the better.”

• The group ends up with the following title by Rolling Stone magazine: Musical Terrorists. This has everything to do with their intellectual and emotional ability to tackle various genres, from Techno-Pop to Heavy Metal, and everything else in between. They're also known for being one of the musical sensations to expand their Fanbase - not by numbers, but through diversity.

• When Romefeller Records took away the group's musical instruments, they took advantage of the Internet and searched for songs to include in upcoming projects. The group did a cover of “Points Of Authority” by Linkin Park (led by Wufei); Quatre did covers of “Careless Whisper” and “Praying For Time” by George Michael (recommended by Duo and Heero). The G-Boys also covered “If You're Gone” by Matchbox Twenty, and “Smooth” by Santana (led by Trowa); “It's My Life” by Bon Jovi (led by Heero), and “Beautiful One” by Mary J. Blige (led by Duo). They eventually pursued other hits, such as “Livin’ On A Prayer”, “This Night”, “O Lord Of Space” and “Awaken”, by various artists and sought permission to use their favourite tunes.

A Typical Jamming Session... *Secret Magic HeadCanon*

Sometime after they signed the deal with Treize and Romefeller, behind the backs of their parents/guardians. This song is also a perfect metaphor of the trouble they're about to face...

"You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round"🎧🎧 The G-Boys are covering (rehearsing) the song by Dead Or Alive in my head.

Trowa is mesmerizing everyone's senses with his antics. Heero and Wufei find it annoying, while Duo and Quatre are having fun with it... Zechs is having the headache I had earlier.

Now Trowa and Duo are giving Relena nightmares (all because of that Dethlok song), the others are going hard on the instruments. "Awaken" ... Zechs is beginning to lose it.

Trowa is teaching (repeating) the first few lines of "Smooth" to Heero and Duo, since they can handle that low octave Rob does... Yet they refuse. Duo insists on teaching Trowa how to stretch his range... Staring contest ensues, while the others focus on playing Santana's music by ear. Zechs is trying to figure out how to force them to get to bed.

"That's your song, Trowa! C'mon, man. You know I don't like touching avenues that aren't mine." "Then let's do it together!" Looks at the others and waves his arms, "From the top!" Music restarts. "Latin is fun. I promise." Trowa winks.

He eventually introduces Duo and Heero to Salsa. The pair makes multiple attempts. When Wufei and Quatre resume their “Bad Boy” attitude and poke fun at the pair, Trowa retrieves a video camera and demands that they try.

Shuts them up rather quickly.

Marooned *GW HeadCanon*

Heero would lookup geographic coordinates and figure out where on the map they’re located. In the meantime, ensure that they didn’t lose any essentials for survival, then go on an expedition with Trowa or Duo… or the entire group. At night, keep the fire going and keep track of food supply. Better yet, be on the lookout for potential threats.

Duo would complain and panic until someone shakes (or slaps) him. He’ll search for clothes, food and a medical emergency kit. He’ll keep the conversation alive - even if he’s the only voice we hear. If there are any crazies or rabid beasts in their midst, he’ll go into stealth mode and kill them if duty calls. At night, it’s time to sleep.

Trowa would make sure that everyone else is safe and sound. He’ll head off to the clearing and observe the predicament they’re in, then he’ll gather everything from the wreckage and… relax on the sand until the others call him. He will most likely go on an expedition with Heero or Wufei… or everyone altogether if that’s the decision. Expect him to blend in with the animals, educate the others about them, or hop on trees and swing from them (even during an expedition period). He will protect his friends and kill any savages without question. At night, he’s cooking and willing to ensure no threats are around the corner… otherwise, he’s cuddling with Quatre.

Quatre will strategize an escape plan and keep the group organized. He will check on the others first before considering his injuries (if any), and designate roles based on their abilities. He will also keep them in check (to prevent them from going crazy). Full of ideas, but solely focused. It is very likely he will cling to Trowa. At night, he will tuck the others in and keep the fire going. With his “space heart”, he will keep the others informed when danger is lurking.

Wufei would grab his own things from the wreckage (the others had better find theirs) and find a place to meditate. He will go on an expedition with them, as long as he gets the opportunity to scare the animals away (and he does). His favourite part is watching the fire at night. He’ll set up traps and sit on a tree to look out for prey. He’s a light sleeper, so if his senses are tingling, he will alert the others and initiate the battle.

GW Episode 44... Epiphany

Something about watching the characters and listening to their thoughts/responses gave me a boost of sorts.

When I look at Zechs, he's stubborn. Either that, or he has a stubborn approach to the battlefield. Aside from his fight against Heero (Epyon versus Wing Zero), Zechs also goes through a pause/freeze...

Which brings me to Relena. Her questions concerning whether she's embraced by the loving brother she knew, or the monster with blood-stained hands.

I've just literally seen facets of myself in the two of them. Relena's refusal to give up in her fight for what's right (note the gun Dorothy handed to her), and Zechs' ongoing theory of teaching Earth a valuable lesson if they don't move to space.

Just one of those moments.

How is it possible for blocked accounts to still have access to your posts? I don't understand that. **If you're a survivor of abuse, do not read the AO3 hyperlink. Please, don't. An abused character who never talked about his past starts channeling his former abusers and takes it out on two companions/bandmates. So skip that link. I will share a headcanon in the near future.**

**Since Trowa is my main muse for this particular project, it's an outlet, background knowledge of entertainment pros/cons, past experiences with stigma/marginalization, and the result of internalizing scars + not seeking professional help (because others will look down on you, poke fun at, or reject you for talking mental health. At least that's been my RL experience, so I never discuss my anxiety, depression and memories of being molested and harassed).**

**This scene is the aftermath of breakfast gone wrong; the dark outtake on AO3 that's not for the faint of heart. Trowa's alter-ego had attacked Quatre and Duo. Here, he confronts the monster he became - a distinct reflection of his former abusers versus his defense mechanisms, or self-preservation.**

The young man struggled, painfully so, as he rose to stand. He gripped his chest; his heart knew too well what was coming next. As his pulse rate increased, he willed his lungs to concentrate on breathing.

Inspire… Expire…

He kept this momentum going every five seconds until his systems were at ease. The young man braced himself as he stared at his reflection.

His breakfast prep was a mess! An epic fail at that. His red bathrobe was tattered, rather loose from the waist up. The red markings on his chest served as proof of his illicit activities with Quatre. His hair flew in places. It made him look like a madman who was on the verge of exploding with anger. In a swift move, Trowa fixed his tattered hair. Where his uni-bang belonged, he couldn’t do it this time. His hair gel was in the bathroom, so… He settled for pulling his hair back and holding it.

Both emerald-green eyes were visible. Those eyes revealed a flurry of emotions: Guilt, shame, and fear.

His dried tears made up for the brokenness in his spirit. He had hurt Quatre and Duo in ways that he couldn’t fathom. The last thing he remembered was asking Duo why he was in the kitchen… then his memory zoomed in on Quatre, laid on the island counter like a starfish. He knew what he did; it wasn’t him. It was-

“Hello Trowa,” greeted a monotonous voice in his head, void of expression. “How would you like to try Treize next? You know, get rid of him. He also played a role in messing things up for the group…"

Trowa’s eyes flashed with mischief, he nearly jumped out of his skin. Startled, he whispered with a shaky voice, "Why? Why won’t you leave me alone?” Although the other voice sounded so much like his, its tone was far from friendly.

"Because I need you, Trowa. We complete each other. This world has silenced you long enough. It’s time to act on revenge.“

"Shut up!” he snapped, his own voice barely audible. “Why can’t you leave me alone? I thought getting rid of Dekim was enough. I don’t need you anymore!” His frame shook as he held the tall mirror in his closet for dear life.

“Look at you,” the voice sneered. “Surely, you can’t go to school like that. You’re not supposed to be weak. Heck, I’ve protected you from the verbal abuse you’ve endured growing up. I took all your pain, your burdens, your shame. Everything! I’m your mental escape from trauma."

The threatening flames in Trowa’s eyes faded. As they regained their calm composure, he spoke up.

"Why did you? I could’ve handled things myself. I would’ve ordered Duo to grab some food and leave, helped Quatre clean up, and we’d keep it going in my room or his."

The flames in his eyes returned once more.

"That’s pathetic, Trowa,” it said, condescending. “I can’t believe you would become a softie."

Trowa growled and glared at his reflection. Another set of flames waged a war with the initial flames in his eyes. "I’m getting ready for school. Leave me alone, Nanashi. Don’t bring my friends into this!"

The voice snickered. All of a sudden, Trowa’s reflection spun and revealed the outfit he had planned to wear. Faded blue jeans and a black leather jacket over his white shirt. His uni-bang covered one eye, although it still looked ominous. His reflection crossed his arms and leaned forward.

"Mark my words, Trowa. You have no name. You are weak. You can’t face the simple fact that your life means nothing without me. Now wipe those tears and get moving!” His reflection peered at the ceiling and tapped his chin before returning his gaze. It spoke with relentless nonchalance. “Oh and before I forget, eat those pancakes you’ve left behind. And if any of those G-Boys, or Zechs, get in your way, shove them aside. Otherwise, I will kill them in your sleep."

"No!” Trowa shrieked as his reflection, Nanashi, laughed with a snarl. “I won’t allow it!” His hands balled into fists as Nanashi regained his composure and wagged his index finger at Trowa.

“Tsk tsk. Do you really want seven years of bad luck? No matter what happens, I will always be a part of you."

Trowa backed away from the mirror as Nanashi stared with a mean, satisfied smile. He squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head in a desperate attempt to get this entity out of head. His fists slammed against the floor in intervals when the closet door opened.

"Trowa!” Zechs called. “I thought you had school today. What’s going on?"

The Latin youth opened his eyes and looked up from the floor. "I need to see Dr. Sally Po today,” he said with determination.
