Scars You Can’t See - Chapter 5
Chapter title: Ready to explode
Word count: about 3800 words (whoa)
Author’s Note: I think it’s about time I gave a shoutout to @teamxdark! Their comments have gotten me to start planning out some of the later chapters (and giving me a lot of inspiration), so I figured they deserved some credit!
And thank you to everyone who’s read this fic so far- every note I get is incredible and I hope you’re all enjoying the ride :)

Sonic stared blankly at his phone screen for the fifth time this morning. The old texts and the name at the top of the messaging app blurred slightly as his eyes unfocused. He was waiting for...something. What, he wasn’t sure.
That was a lie.
Truthfully, he was hoping that the three little dots showing that someone was typing would appear like a miracle. He knew that wouldn’t happen, though. The hedgehog on the other end of the messages had turned off his phone entirely. Heck, Shadow was literally in hiding. There had been exactly one post on Chatter (which he and Tails totally hadn’t read over and over searching for hidden messages) and that was from Omega.
But chaos, how Sonic wished for just five minutes to talk to him. He hadn’t even realized before now how much he normally texted the hybrid in a day. The hero honestly just messaged whenever he saw something or found a funny joke that he thought Shadow would like. In dealing with his new absence, though, Sonic had come up with an idea to write down whatever it was he’d seen that he figured Shadow would enjoy and save it for later.
He was forced to stop this when he wrote nearly two thousand words’ worth of moments in half an hour.
Sonic cursed all the times he’d taken Shadow’s near-constant presence for granted. The hybrid had always been a punctual texter, despite Rouge’s repeated attempts to convince him that he didn’t have to answer right away. Even when the other hedgehog had been off on a mission, Sonic still had an idea of how long he needed to wait before he could start texting. But now, it could be days, weeks, or even months before he could talk to Shadow freely again.
What if you’ll never hear from him again? a nasty inner voice whispered. What if that call was the last time you got to hear his voice?
Sonic felt his stomach fall through the floor at that idea, before swallowing the sensation and shaking his head. He couldn’t doubt Team Dark like that! They were guaranteed to pull through, and kick G.U.N.’s butt in the process.
Speaking of which…
The hero was pretty angry at G.U.N., and that was actually a big deal for him. Sonic didn’t get angry, except sometimes at Eggman. Even when a bitter detractor had posted a lengthy essay on Chatter explaining exactly why Sonic was (supposedly) a terrible person, he hadn’t reacted in fury- or even close. He’d had his friends’ support, and honestly? He’d pitied the person more than anything. Anyone who was trying to tear others down had probably been hurt pretty badly themselves.
Sonic had even made a meme out of their misspelling of his name- “Sanic” was now a worldwide joke with a hilarious drawing to match.
But now, all he really wanted to do was beat someone up- some robots, some evil agents, whatever- and trash the whole organization until they were all falling over themselves to apologize. The fact that G.U.N. had dared to treat Shadow’s obviously painful past with no kindness whatsoever really got on his nerves. The hybrid had suffered a hundred times over, lost his memory, and even died to save the world, yet he still didn’t get the respect he deserved.
“Uhhh, Sonic? Is everything okay?”
The blue blur jumped, startled out of his spiraling thoughts. He heard a growling noise, and his eyes widened when he realized it was coming from him. Sonic could feel his lips curled back into a snarl and quickly straightened his face out, blinking and clearing his throat. “Yeah! Sorry, Tails…” he said, embarrassed at having been caught in that kind of state. The fox eyed him skeptically. “Really, I’m fine!”
“Are you su-”
“Yeah!” Sonic exclaimed, grinning reassuringly. No point in upsetting others with his own problems, after all. “Everything’s good here, buddy!”
“If you say so…” Tails muttered. He didn’t seem convinced, but accepted it despite this. “Anyway, what I came over to say was: we’re out of groceries- can you head out and get some? I made a list of everything we need, it’s right here!”
Ordinarily, Sonic would’ve complained loudly and with much drama about having to do something so menial as a grocery run when he was a hero, for chaos’ sake. But that wasn’t the case these days. “Sure thing!” Sonic agreed, feeling better already. With a distraction to keep his worries and negative thoughts away, he’d be back to normal in no time. “See ya soon!”
The blue blur dashed out the door- before returning a second later, a sheepish grin on his face. “Forgot the list,” he explained, rushing out again.
With the wind in his quills, it was almost too easy to forget everything that he’d been thinking about just moments before. Sonic grinned properly as he raced across fields and through side streets. This was his element, after all!  He made his way to his and Tails’ favorite grocery store, bounding over obstacles and pulling a few awesome parkour tricks he’d picked up over the years. Shadow had always gotten on their case for not supporting a more local store- this one was a big name, after all- but Sonic had--
He shook his head, walking into the building. No more thoughts like that! There was only so much ruminating on bittersweet memories a guy could do in a day.
His presence here was relatively common, so he didn’t do much more than turn a few heads as he stepped through the automatic doors into the air-conditioned halls of the large grocery store. Sonic forced himself to walk through the aisles (instead of sprinting through them and accidentally whipping half the items off the shelves in his wake). As he did so, though, he began to hear people talking. And they weren’t just talking about the latest viral video, or boring politics, or any of those things, either.
They were talking about them.
Of course, everyone would always change the subject when he walked by, chatting loudly about their dog or their kids or whatever. It was almost as though they were saying, “Don’t look at me! I didn’t say anything about your friends! I’m just here, minding my own business!” But of course none of them really had been.
He recognized that he was spiraling down the path of thinking about it again, even though there was nothing he could do. And now no matter what, the thoughts of some of his closest friends were tainted. Which totally didn’t frustrate him at all.
It didn’t help, he thought irritably (not noticing the mild scowl that had appeared on his face), that G.U.N. was basically screaming in all the op-eds and information releases the organization could get their hands on that they weren’t in the wrong. They didn’t say that specifically, of course- that would be too obvious. Instead, they just published the same old news over and over again: Team Dark had stolen classified files and then run away.
This had all begun to grate on Sonic’s nerves a little, particularly when pundits and newspaper writers alike began to spout wild conspiracy theories about Team Dark having been spies for ‘the enemy’- whoever that was- or that one of them had finally lost it...or even all three at once. The most frustrating, however, was when once avid supporters of the former G.U.N. agents completely disavowed them and distanced themselves from the team as much as possible. It made him want to pull a Knuckles and punch a wall- how could people turn on the team so easily?
The hero pulled himself back to reality to realize that he’d been staring at a can of soup for the past few minutes. And were those dents where his fingers had been? He put the can in his shopping cart, took a deep breath, and continued on, giving himself a little ride on the back of the cart as a treat. Normally, he’d remember his various accidents and restrain himself, but lately the hero had needed to clear his head. He deserved this.
A few minutes later, a chime on his phone let him know that Tails had sent him a message. Sonic opened it up and read the text:
milesperhour: Sonic, I think you need to see this. Take a close look at paragraph 5. https://www.centralcitynews.com/team-dark-update
Sonic clicked the link, sighing, and began to scan the article. Another one? Really, he’d had enough of-
Oh boy. Oh wow. Okay.
They’d made a move. G.U.N. didn’t release much in the way of information- all they’d done was declare an official alert asking people to keep a lookout for Rouge, Shadow and Omega. And to tip G.U.N. off at a hotline that they’d provided for this purpose.
Sonic had learned how to read between the lines over the last few days, though, and on his second read-through, he saw what most would not.
...are in possession of multiple classified files…
So they’d stolen more info? That must’ve been what Omega’s post was about! Sonic began to squeeze his phone hopefully. Maybe this was it, maybe soon this whole nightmare would be over!
He practically flew through the rest of the store at the thought. Team Dark would give G.U.N. what for, the organization would apologize, and then everything would be fine!
Sonic checked out in a hurry, rushing home as fast as he could. Slamming open the door, he yelled out, “Tails! Did you see- oh right, you sent me the article. But still! Things are looking up, buddy!”
Tails had a slightly lopsided grin on his face, making the hero’s heart sink. “What’s that look all about?”
“I don’t know- it’s probably nothing! After all, Team Dark can handle any situation they come up against...just, G.U.N. has a lot of resources, you know?”
Sonic’s smile returned in full force. “Sure they do, but they also owe me for saving the world, like, a million times over! Once we’ve got the Edge Gang back with us, I’ll go talk with the commander and get them to straighten everything out!”
“That sounds like corruption, Sonic…” Tails said, a wicked smirk appearing on his face.
“Dude, what?! No! I’d never-! I just meant I was gonna see if I could talk some sense into them- hey, get back here!” Sonic screeched, seeing Tails run off with the groceries...including the donut he’d bought for himself.
Later that afternoon, Sonic was in the middle of finally enjoying said donut after wrestling it from Tails’s (evil terrible Sonic-and-sugar-hating) claws. It was a little squished, but it was still great- he wasn’t complaining!
That was, of course, when he heard a loud, sharp knock on the door.
He jumped up and zipped over to the entry hall, pastry still in hand. Whipping open the door, a shocking sight greeted him- one that made all of his battle-honed senses immediately scream danger danger danger. Two impeccably dressed G.U.N. agents stood before him, a human and a barn owl. The human seemed pretty awkward, wearing slightly rumpled slacks and overall looking a little messy. The owl, however, despite being about the same height as the blue blur, exuded an air of steely discipline that would make everyone she faced feel about two inches tall.
Everyone except Sonic, that was. He was secure in the knowledge that his friends were not wrong, and he maintained his usual relaxed demeanor without a hitch. The hero smiled fake-pleasantly at the two agents, ignoring the fact that he had sugar glaze at the corners of his mouth and all over his glove. “Sorry, guys, I wasn't really expecting guests.” He gestured to himself as an obvious example. “Anything I can do for ya?”
He didn’t offer to let them inside, though. These agents were hunting down his friends, he was absolutely sure of that. Sonic refused to help them in any way, not when Team Dark was still out there and being threatened by their organization.
The barn owl gave him a look that nearly pierced through his very soul. “Sonic the Hedgehog. I am Agent Toya, and this is my colleague, Agent Jones. We have a few questions that we would like to ask you. Inside.” Her voice was cold and clear, with no trace of an accent.
Sonic felt a chill run down his spine, but kept his smile up regardless. “Sure thing!” he chirped, despite very much not wanting to let them in. “The living room’s right this way- make yourselves comfortable, I’ll be back there in a sec.” He honestly didn’t think he could have refused them entry without...complications.
The hero zipped over to Tails’s workshop, flinging open the door with a little more force than he’d intended. The fox jumped up in a fright when it smacked against the wall, staring at Sonic. “G.U.N. is here. Two agents.” he said quickly. The imminent sense of danger in the back of his head wouldn't leave him be, despite the fact that he was one of the most powerful people alive.
...Despite this, don’t let G.U.N. take you or anyone else anywhere. You might not come back…
...These people aren’t crazy geniuses- they’re ruthless destroyers…
“Oh, chaos.” Tails breathed. “I’ll wait nearby, okay? Then I can do something if they start getting too intense.”
Sonic nodded, before speeding back down to see the agents sitting on his couch. “Hi! So whatcha guys want?” he asked perkily, burying his thoughts for now.
“Hello to you too, Sonic.” Jones said politely. “How are you?”
The hero tugged slightly at the cuff of his glove. “Pretty good!” he lied through his grin. “Been chilling around the house for most of the day- how ‘bout you?”
“Not bad,” the human answered. “Work is work though, you know?”
“Yeah, sounds pretty rough.” Sonic said, a little unconvincingly. Before he could stop himself, he thought of all the late nights Shadow and Omega had spent working on paperwork and various odd jobs for G.U.N., and the times when Rouge had to cancel her dates with Knuckles because she was just too exhausted from work to do much of anything. His smile became slightly strained as he worked to keep his frustration on Team Dark’s behalf under wraps.
The owl gazed at him silently for a moment, having watched this whole awkward transaction with a calculating look in her eye. Then she spoke. “I’m certain you have seen the news lately.”
“Uhhh...kinda, I’m not big on newspapers, but I try to keep up, yeah! Always nice to see an article about yours truly, hah.” He played it off, deciding to act dumb for now.
Agent Jones shifted in his seat, looking cautious. “Yeah…” he said, offering up an incredibly fake smile. “I’m a bit of a fan, myself.”
Sonic knew exactly what was going on. It was almost so classic he had to laugh- the old good cop/bad cop scenario. The human was clearly trying to play the good cop, and not enjoying it either. The hedgehog had to wonder, though, was he just a better bad cop or uncomfortable because he was helping grill a hero?
Oh, right- Agent Toya was talking again. “We know that you have seen the articles published about the betrayal of Team Dark. Even if you do not read the news, one of your friends will have told you by now.”
The hedgehog’s eyes narrowed a little. “And what’s that supposed to mean? What do you want outta me?”
“You. Know. Something.” she said sharply. “That team- in particular Shadow the Hedgehog-” He tensed at her flippant use of his name, as if they weren’t hunting him down like he had legitimately gone bad. “-trust you. You are very close with them. They would not have left you with nothing.”
Sonic shook his head, trying one last time. “I don’t think so, lady. I know about as much as you- if that. It’s not like we’re besties or anything.”
Agent Jones shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know- it looks like you guys are pretty close to me. Not that that’s bad, I mean-!!” he amended rapidly, realizing his mistake. In addition to having blown his role as the ‘good cop’, he was now being stared down by a very irritated pair of green eyes. The look he was being given contrasted sharply with the grin plastered across the hero’s face, and the agent began to sweat slightly and avoid his stare.
Meanwhile, Sonic turned his attention back to Agent Toya, sitting up straight and squaring his shoulders in preparation for more. He was a fighter, after all.
It seemed that the barn owl came here ready for a fight as well, because her own eyes flashed and she straightened her G.U.N. uniform. “Sonic. We need information. Our organization has been compromised. Twice. We are in a crisis and we are ordering you to tell us what you know.”
That did it.
“As if!” the hero exclaimed, jumping to his feet. “You think I’m the kind of guy who’d sell his friends out and watch them get carted off to jail- or worse?! I don’t know as much as you think I do, and if I did, I wouldn’t tell you!” He had probably blown any semblance of ignorance up now, but Sonic couldn’t find it in himself to care.
The owl agent stood as well, glaring at him. “If that is the attitude you are going to take, then we have no choice but to take you into custody.” She began to reach for the Taser on her belt at the same time as Jones grabbed the gun from his holster. Sonic’s eyes flickered between them both- the human he could take on, but he wasn’t completely sure about Toya’s skill with the Taser.
Could he get around them? Sure, but not without breaking something...and he hated to bust up his house just because a couple of agents showed up on his doorstep and pulled weapons on him. He’d handled worse odds, hadn’t he? But then he and Tails would constantly be on the run, and that was no way for a nine-year-old to live…
A loud crash resounded in the kitchen. Jones shouted and jumped up, Sonic’s head snapped around so fast he tweaked his neck, and Toya took a step backwards.
Rubbing his neck and wincing, Sonic yelled out, “Everything okay in there?”
Tails dashed into the room out of nowhere, crying out, “Sorry! Sorry! I was just working and wanted a drink- and I heard- I heard-”
The fox then began to cry, sobbing and clinging to Sonic’s chest. “You’re not gonna take him away, are you? I need my big brother…” he sniffled. “Sonic, everything’s gonna be okay, right?”
The hero was trying his very hardest, meanwhile, to keep his jaw from hitting the floor as he watched his brother, a brave, intelligent sidekick and someone he was proud to fight beside, put on the most incredible show he’d ever seen. “I…I dunno, buddy…” he said honestly, uncertain about how to react.
This seemed to be a pretty good move, as Tails immediately began to bawl harder and gasped, in between sobs, “Please don’t take him away from me!”
It appeared that Toya would not feel comfortable using force against Sonic (or even resuming her interrogation) when the young fox was around. Instead, she gave him a very pointed, piercing look, before declaring, “We will be back at a later date to continue this conversation.”
She stalked out the door, Jones shoving his gun back onto his belt and following sulkily behind her. As soon as she had gotten into her car and driven off, the hero sagged into the couch and let out a loud sigh. “Welp.”
Tails flew out of the room immediately afterwards, whispering a quick “Wait there and chill for a second I’ll be right back” before he exited. Once he returned, the fox crawled around on the couch next to Sonic before letting out an “Aha!” and holding up what appeared to be a tiny piece of metal.
“It’s a shame to have to do this, but…” he muttered, before vanishing with it. A couple minutes later, a very loud noise boomed from Tails’s workshop and made Sonic panic before blasting in there at top speed.
“What was that?!” he shrieked.
“Just destroying this camera that human agent left in our couch.” the engineer replied lightly.
“Wait- what??” Sonic gasped. “He did what?”
“I thought they’d be crazy to leave without planting one, so I checked the camera feed, and it was pretty obvious! He must be a new recruit.”
“Wait- you have a camera? In our living room?” the hero asked, feeling slightly creeped out.
Tails shrugged. “Well, I didn’t until recently, but I figured that G.U.N. would have to show up at our place eventually, so yeah.”
They both stayed there in silence for a minute, before making their way back down to the main house.
“Well, what do we do now?” Tails wondered.
“I dunno- you’re the smart guy, pal.” Sonic replied quickly. “I just don’t want to have to escape from them! I like running, but not away from people. Especially bad people.”
“Well...does it count as running if we’re hanging out with Knuckles?” the fox suggested hopefully.
Sonic sighed. “I guess not...it’d be cool with him, too, since Angel Island is a pretty safe place and all. I still hate the idea of hiding from them, though.”
“Maybe you won’t have to!” Tails said, trying to be cheerful. “After all, I don’t think people will buy it if G.U.N. says you’re a...traitor…” He trailed off, remembering a particularly eventful moment from their past.
“Yyyeah.” the hedgehog said dryly, having thought of the same thing. “That’s exactly why I didn’t have to ride through the streets of Central City on a piece of helicopter.”
“Let’s not think about that for now though, okay?” Sonic asked. “ I don’t like the idea of being scared all the time.”
Tails nodded in agreement. “Besides, we’ve handled them before! We can cross that bridge when we come to it anyway.”
Sonic grinned. “How about we watch some TV for now, take our minds off things?”
“Sure! But I’m definitely gonna tell Omega- or whoever calls us next- about this. They deserve to know.” the fox answered.
“Okay…” the blue blur said. He felt a little guilty that he could just turn on a movie and forget about G.U.N. for a while- Team Dark didn’t have that luxury. Quickly, though, he added, “Anything on there you’ve been dying to watch?”
Tails smiled happily, and Sonic decided that this was totally worth it. “Well, there is this one documentary…”

Speak
Prompt
Summary: as time passes, things change. The language does as well, and that causes some problems when they meet the new hero.
-o-o-o-o-
The new one did not speak their language. Any of theirs. Each of them has tried and failed to speak to him, but with every word the hero gets more agitated, making him stiffen his posture and steady his bow. The hero snarls out something, yet no one understands him.
Time can't help but feel resentment towards Hylia for making a damn language barrier.
"What do we do?" Wind asks. His voice is slow and unsure, they have all decided that Twilight's Hylian is the easiest for each of them to understand, so they have each learned it. It's easier for some compared to others.
"We need… explain," Sky mumbles, tripping over his words. His language was furthest from all of theirs, he could understand Four and somewhat of Time, but speaking Twilight's tongue is like a whole new language for him. He hasn't complained about it yet though. "Him need understand."
Time nods and looks back at the hero who is watching them with sharp and fearful eyes. They've met in the worst way possible.
They caught sight of the hero about a week ago as he was hunting. They were all confused and thrown off from being dropped into another Hyrule, especially one where everything was in ruins. Buildings were brought to the ground, tied down with vines, weeds, and grass. Wild flowers sprung up out from destroyed merchant carts and foxes made their homes inside toppled over homes and dried up wells. However when they saw the young man creeping through the forest, they all knew he was a hero. His face was scarred up and his hair was long and housing small twigs and leaves, his clothes had grass and dirt stains, he looked like he hadn't known the comfort of a stable home in his entire life.
Yet, by the way he moved, the way his fingers nimbly and expertly knocked the arrow, how his poise was perfect and his timing impeccable, they were made certain that Hylia had chosen a hero for this world covered with a destroyed past. Now they just had to meet him.
Easier said than done, they've had bad experiences meeting heroes before. Some accepted their meeting immediately, like Wind, Sky, Hyrule, Time. Yet others would rather swing their sword first and ask questions later, Twilight, Legend, Warrior, Four. They had no clue what this new hero would do if they emerged from the bushes, spouting about Hylia and converging worlds. By the looks of it, he wouldn't react well.
So they followed him, waiting for the perfect opportunity to introduce themselves. They watched as he traveled the rather large land, as he made stops at little stables, as he greeted travelers with a grin but frowned when they were gone.
When he spoke, he spoke quietly, and they were always too far of a distance to hear what he says.
It was a week into their following and everyone was getting antsy. The hero liked to travel randomly, during the night or at the break of dawn, everyone was exhausted. They were just about to say screw it when laughter suddenly broke through the air. They watched as the hero instantly tensed up and pulled out the master sword, snarling at a spot hovering in the air that was beginning to glow orange as a tornado of paper turned into the form of a man.
Then more showed up. The hero had walked into an ambush.
Twilight almost ran forward, as did a couple others, but Time held them back as the hero jumped into battle and fought furiously against these attackers. He didn't need help.
The battle lasted only a few minutes. The hero was panting in the middle of the trees as injured and possibly dead attackers laid on the ground. Blood dripped from the sword and splattered his face. Only a few of the assassins had gotten away.
The group was in awe, so much so that Hyrule didn't notice the twig on the ground when he took a step backwards.
And here they are now.
Time doesn't know if the reason the hero is hostile towards them is because he thinks they are back up of the assassins or if he is suspicious of them because they had stood there and watched the battle. Whatever the case, he is angry and pointing a bow nocked with multiple arrows right at them.
He growls something at them and they are all thrown off the loop when none of them could understand what he said. They try to speak to him, but that makes him even more suspicious of them. It becomes a stand off between nine heroes who cannot understand each other.
Times notices that Legend drops his hand to his hip here he has his sword resting. He glares at him and he returns it. "I'm not going to let him attack us and not defend myself," he says.
The hero snarls and takes a threatening step forward and Legend whips out his sword, sneering.
"Legend," Time scolds and steps in front of Legend's blade, but the damage has already been done. The hero let's an arrow fly, just barely nicking Times cheek and lodging in the oak tree behind them.
He yells something, it sounds threatening and he looks like he's just managing to hold back fear and confusion. In the blinking on an eye, he reloads his bow and aims it straight Time's chest. Again, he speaks, and Time gets the feeling he was promising he won't miss the next time.
He can hear Twilight nervously shifting behind him. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Warrior slowly reach for his shield. If they don't diffuse the situation, and soon, the new hero will initiate a battle.
He does the only thing he can think of. He slowly brings his hands in front of him, unarmed and open palmed to show he means no harm. The hero glares at his hands but doesn't make any offensive move which Time considers a step forward.
"What are you doing?" Four asks behind him, but Time ignores that and closes half of one of his hand, leaving the pointer finger and thumb sticking out.
L.
He shifts his hand so he's making a fist except his pinky is now up.
I.
Now he closes his whole hand and the hero is watching it with wide, surprised eyes. He moves his thumb so it's sticking out between his middle and ring finger.
N.
Everyone is silent in anticipation as moves his middle and pointer fingers so they're making a V, then he puts the tip of his thumb against the base of his middle.
K.
He moves his hands so they're relaxed again as the hero watches them for a few seconds. He lowers his bow, though in no way does he look defenseless, as he nods his head slowly.
Encouraged, Time brings his hands into more complicated movements and the hero watches them earnestly, seemingly more at ease now that he can understand.
You know sign? Time's hands ask.
The hero nods his head again and Time thanks the lucky stars that out of everything to change over time, the language of hands hasn't.
We are not here to fight, he explains.
The hero slowly puts his bow against his back and brings his own hands out in front of him. There's a surprised gasp behind him as the group realizes what is happening. None of them knew sign, only Time does. Yet it seems there is now another who has trouble speaking.
Who are you? The hero asks. His hands form into simple letters, spelling out Y-I-G-A, Time doesn't understand what that means until he looks down and sees the defeated attackers still on the ground. He quickly shakes his head.
Friends, he replies, we're like you. Heroes. Please, we do not want to fight. We want to talk, that's all.
The hero stares at him before he shrugs and signs a quick O-K. Time feels tension rush out of his shoulders as the hero slowly begins to walk towards them.
"What's happening," Twilight asks as the hero approaches.
"He will talk with us," Time says, smiling.
As it turns out, the hero, Wild as the sword has dubbed him, is from a world many centuries in the future, which is why his Hylian is completely different from the rest of the groups. As time passes, he learns Twilight's language, and he becomes a very close friend.
He bonds with Sky over the difficulty of language, he becomes friends with Wind who both love mischief, he teaches Hyrule how to cook, he has friendly duels with Warrior. With Legend he shows how to load multiple arrows onto a bow, with Four he has very nice conversations with. Twilight becomes his best friend and mentor.
With Time, he always sits down and forgets about speech. They talk secretly to each other with their hands and fingers, something they both have very much in common.
He quickly becomes the heart of the family.

Note
so, I know you're not on prompts, but I suddenly really feel like reading some neil with a british accent, and I already reread your stories, and I am going around asking this from all of my fav authors, so if you're ever in the mood or have the time, could you perhaps bless us w some neil w a british accent and the team losing their shit over it???
Hmm, I wouldn’t say that I don’t take prompts, it’s just I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had time to do them? I’m trying to change that (and find a good prompt list to post).
*******
It was the reporter’s fault, Andrew supposed. With the fall semester winding down and the Foxes securing a spot in the spring championship playoffs despite being weighed down by the new rookies, Wymack had informed them at the start of the week that there would be a reporter coming to interview them to help build up some publicity, so everyone had better mind their manners and watch their mouths (that might have been directed at a certain sophomore with a tendency to self-destruct whenever his lips parted and sound came out).
At first Andrew had been a tiny bit bemused with the prospect of spending Thursday’s practice listening to the Foxes go on about how hard they’d worked so far that year and their chances to hold on to the division’s title against the Trojans while everyone waited with baited breath for Neil to spout off his usual bullshit (especially if it meant that Andrew didn’t have to do much more than stand around for once). Kevin was his usual fake smiles and torn between gushing about Knox and Moreau and talking up the Foxes, the rest of the upperclassmen were positive as always about the team - Dan was more poised that year and going on about the ‘legacy’ she was leaving behind as well about how Neil would be a great captain once she was gone.
Nicky was a hyper idiot, the freshmen were still unused to doing any sort of interviews and so Wymack hung around to keep their sessions brief and to the point. Aaron managed (barely) to not come across as a surly asshole, and Matt gushed equally about Dan and Neil in a sickening manner. By the time the earnest young British man from Extreme Exy got to Andrew, all he did was give the reporter a flat look while he was asked questions about his goalkeeping record so far that year, his thoughts on which teams would be in the final three and who was his favorite professional Exy team.
Neil so owed Andrew for him putting up with this ridiculousness.
Of course the Foxes gathered around as if a crowd waiting near the bottom of the gallows when the reporter finally got to Neil. Perhaps the young man knew about Neil’s reputation, perhaps he was a bit rattled after dealing with Aaron and Andrew, but his smile appeared a little wan and the hand holding the recording device trembled a little when he began with his questions - Wymack had insisted that nothing about the Ravens be brought up, but that still left a lot of leeway for Neil to drag people.
“Ah, after a bit of a rough start, the Foxes are now second in the Southeastern district. Do you foresee any difficulties heading into the playoffs?”
It felt as if most of the Foxes were holding their breath as they waited for Neil to respond, as Wymack stared intently at Neil as if he could mentally will the idiot to think before he spoke (Andrew could tell the man that Neil would just come up with more inventive insults then). Neil eyed the tall, dark-haired reporter for a moment before he shrugged. “I won’t lie and say that it won’t be a challenge, not when so many of our players are so new, but we’ve gotten this far so I’m confident that we’ll do a good job.” He smiled as he brushed aside the hair falling onto his face. “We’re Foxes, after all. We do best under adversity.”
“Oh my god,” Pris exhaled, while beside her Michalyn nodded in agreement and Sheena stared on in disbelief. As for the upperclassmen, Dan’s eyes were wide and her mouth agape, Allison was grinning as she jabbed her right elbow into her friend’s side and even Renee appeared surprised. Matt… Matt was gazing at Neil so intently that Andrew felt the strong urge to go over and smack the backliner. Hard. Hard and repeatedly.
“What’s up with the funny accent?” Aaron asked as the reporter, with a slight, puzzled smile on his face, asked Neil another question - that one about what Neil thought about the Trojans’ improved defensive line with Moreau on their team.
“I think we’re going to have a real challenge on our hands when we play them again - we won last year because of them wanting to face us with an even number of players, and now we have a bigger line-up. But we’ve learned a lot, too, so we’ll each bring something new to the court,” Neil said, his British accent growing stronger with each question.
“His mother,” Andrew answered his twin as he gritted his teeth over the Foxes’ ongoing reactions; somehow, Allison had managed to sneak a phone out on court and was filming Neil’s interview while Nicky leaned against an almost drooling Matt as if swooning and fanned himself.
There was another question about their upcoming game against Binghamton, which Neil glanced at a stern-faced Wymack for a moment before giving (for him) a mild answer about how the Foxes intended to continue with their winning streak against the team. Still speaking in that damn accent which made Andrew furious over how their moronic teammates were acting and twitchy with the need to grab a certain idiot and find a quiet spot to ask him ‘yes’ or ‘no’. To keep him from speaking with that accent - well, other than a few choice words.
“I will give you anything for a copy of this vid,” Nicky crooned to Allison, who continued to smirk as if very pleased with herself. “Anything.”
“Hell yes,” Matt agreed with a rough voice as he continued to stare fixated at Neil.
“This is stupid, he just wants all the attention,” Jack sulked, his glare strengthening when Pris, Michalyn and even Sheena shushed him.
The reporter for Extreme Exy paused a moment before he asked another question. “So, are you going to be cheering for Cambridge or Nottingham this weekend?” He waved the recorder around a little. “Ah, your mother’s side of the family is British, right?” When Neil stiffened at the question, he had the sense to pick up on it right away. “Oh, right, I wasn’t supposed-”
“Edinburgh.” Neil’s answer cut through the man’s frantic apology. “I actually favor Edinburgh’s team, though they’ll play this week’s winner.” He managed a half-smile as the reporter recovered and Kevin took to scowling in the distance in blatant disagreement. “Their defense is a work in progress, but their goalies are top notch and their offense incredible.”
“Ah, yes!” The reporter laughed a little as if in agreement. “I’m partial to Manchester myself, so let’s hope those two make it to the finals!”
Wymack stepped in to wrap things up then, which left Neil standing there with an oddly open expression on his face. Before Andrew could move, Nicky and the upperclassmen closed in on the junkie.
“Oh my god, that was amazing!” Nicky exclaimed as he draped his arms around Neil’s shoulders. “How do you do that? Can you do that like, always? That sounds so hot!” It was right then that Andrew had joined them, and he spared no force in slamming his right arm into his cousin’s abdomen. “Ow!”
“Thanks for closing another bet for me,” Allison said as she reached out to tousle Neil’s hair as if she had every right to be so affectionate. “Actually, two, since you got through today without dragging anyone through the mud for once.”
“We had every faith in you,” Renee murmured as she tugged Matt out of Andrew’s way before Andrew could ‘accidentally’ ram his elbow into the tall backliner’s left kidney.
“Well, not Jack, Sheena, Aaron, Nicky and Roy, but there’s always a sucker or two when it comes to bets,” Allison said with evident glee as she held up her phone. “Between them and this little gem, we’re going to enjoy a nice spa weekend or two.” That was directed toward Renee.
Renee dragged the dealer away before something ‘happened’ to her phone, while Nicky left before he earned another hit and Dan had the sense to remove her boyfriend as well, leaving Neil alone with Andrew. “I seem to remember a time when you didn’t want attention,” Andrew remarked as the rest of the Foxes broke apart and began to walk away, practice seemingly over now that the reporter was gone. “Those were the days.” He wouldn’t mention what type of days, though.
Neil shrugged and rubbed at the back of his neck. “I didn’t… it’s habit, I suppose. I used it all the time in Europe unless we were somewhere and spoke French or German. I used it when it was just me and my mum.” His expression was a bit guarded then, since he knew that Andrew didn’t care to hear anything in regards to Mary, to a woman who had fucked up Neil in so many ways and failed to protect her only child. The woman who had abused him even if Neil didn’t readily admit to that fact.
“It’s stupid, don’t do it again,” Andrew told him as he thought about how the Foxes had reacted to it just then.
At first Neil frowned at that, and then he smiled as he stepped forward and brushed his fingers lightly along the hem of Andrew’s oversized goalie jersey. “Don’t do it again, or don’t do it while in public, hmm?” The British accent crept back into his voice as he gazed at Andrew with that almost-smirk on his lips. “I think maybe you like it, just a little. Perhaps you need to hear it again to make up your mind when it’s just the two of us.”
Andrew felt that urge to drag Neil off somewhere private once more, the urge to both kiss him quiet and hear him call out Andrew’s name. “I hate it and you,” he settled on as he shoved his hand in his idiot’s face. “And stop staring.”
Neil laughed as he took a step back. “That’s a ‘yes’.” He hummed a little as they headed toward the locker room. “Okay, later then.”
Andrew shoved him forward, but he didn’t say ‘no’.
*******
Eh… I’m working on keeping things short. ‘Working’. I hope you like it!

Link
Pairing: Tobirama/Kagami Soulmate au: The one where everyone can shape shift to a unique animal form at will but if your soulmate demands you change form you are forced to.
Follow the link or read it under the cut!
“CHANGE BACK!”
A loud screech and a hiss follow the shout, then laughter shortly after. The figure in the tree heaves a sigh and doesn’t bother to open his eyes. He’s been having such a good nap and he refuses to disturb it unless his students actually find him and bother him personally.
“Sensei!”
Which, it appears, they intend to do. Tobirama lets a low rumble of displeasure shake the branch his large feline form is stretched out on, warning the younger pair coming toward him that it had better be good or they’ll see their training doubled on the morrow. Neither of them heed the warning.
“Sensei! Kagami is being stupid again!”
“It’s not stupid!”
“Did you really think Aiki-san was your soulmate? She’s twice as old as sensei!”
“Sensei’s not all that much older than us!”
Two teenagers land on the branch near the trunk of the tree, bickering between each other as they stick their feet to the bark with chakra and walk towards him. Tobirama opens one red eye to glare at them for disturbing his rest and when Torifu catches sight of his expression the lad stops walking to cringe. They’re both young adults now but that doesn’t stop them from fearing their teacher’s displeasure. Tobirama might be only eight years older than their nineteen but he’s been considered an adult and an expert in many fields since he was less than half their age. His displeasure is not something to be taken lightly.
His tail flicks with annoyance as Kagami continues to babble in Torifu’s ear, wanting nothing so much as to go back to his nap. It’s hardly the first time that Kagami has decided to disturb random villagers with his silly habit and it’s unlikely this will be the last. He’s long since given up interfering on the young lad’s behalf, choosing instead to leave him to the mercy of whoever the latest victim is.
“It’s not stupid! Sensei, tell him it’s not stupid!” Kagami turns wide eyes on him, his expression wounded and open. Tobirama huffs. To tell anyone anything he would need to shift back to human form and he’s feeling much too lazy to do that.
“It really is,” Torifu insists. His expansive chest puffs out as he lifts a finger to make his point. “I mean, sure, if you demand every person you meet to change their form then someday you’re statistically likely to find the right person. You’ll demand they change, they’ll be forced to, and voila! Soulmate! Except then your first impression is that of an annoying, demanding brat and I don’t think that would be a great way to start off your relationship, do you?”
“But Torifu, it’s foolproof!”
“It’s rude!”
Tobirama turns his head, laying his fluffy ears flat against his skull as he tries hard to block them out. He loves them, he really does, but he would much prefer them to go away right now. His chakra levels still aren’t recovered from that mission he’d only just gotten back from two days ago. He shouldn’t be back to training yet but, even if he vehemently denies it, he has a soft spot for his students. Taking them to the public training areas was meant to allow them to go through the exercises he set for them while also allowing him the time to rest. There are others training on the grounds below that could answer any technical questions they have.
Instead Kagami is up to his usual antics, sneaking up behind unsuspecting victims and demanding them to change their forms on the off chance they might be his soulmate. Tobirama would roll his eyes if he hadn’t frequently been tempted to follow the same pattern when he was younger. He didn’t do it, of course. He has much more dignity than that. But he was tempted.
“Sensei you don’t think its stupid do you?” Kagami entreats him. Tobirama ignores him, eyes staying closed and not even bothering to turn his head back to the bickering pair. He can hear the little sigh of annoyance that earns him and, were he in human form, it would have made him smile slightly.
“He can’t talk in animal form, Kagami,” Torifu points out.
“Oh come on sensei! Talk to me!” It takes extra chakra control for him to dance his weight back and forth but still he does it because Kagami is the type that is always moving. “I hate it when you ignore us like this! So mean, sensei!”
Tobirama pointedly allows himself to yawn, tongue curling and eyes not even bothering to flutter. Torifu laughs.
“Let him sleep.”
“No! I want him to change back and answer me!” Kagami hops around to another branch so he can press his face right up close to the older man’s furred one. “Why won’t you change sensei? Everyone else says it’s stupid but you don’t think so do you? Do you sensei? Hey, come on!”
“He’s not gonna do it, Kagami,” his companion chortles. Kagami scrunches up his nose.
“Sensei! Change back!”
Tobirama feels the pull in his gut and his eyes snap open, a startled yowl escaping him in the split second before his fur recedes and he is suddenly and forcefully stuffed back in to human form. So unprepared for the change is he that, with a yelp, he overbalances and plummets out of the tree. His landing is far from graceful; it’s probably the least graceful landing he’s suffered since he first learned how to tree-walk. He sprawls in the dirt, a tiny cloud of dust rising around him, while the handful of shinobi gathered in the public training area stare at him in wonder.
Warmth rises under his collar as everyone stares at him, dazed and spread out in a most undignified position. The sensation of being forced to change form has been described to him endless times by Hashirama yet, even though he’s still fairly young himself, he’s long since given up on experiencing it for himself. The only one able to force someone to change is their soulmate and over the years he’s managed to convince himself that he’ll never find his. It’s a big world, after all, and most of the new people he meets don’t survive to the next morning.
Slowly, with many eyes still upon him, his head tilts back to look up in to the canopy above. Torifu and Kagami stare back down at him with twin expressions of utter shock. His eyes lock with the Uchiha’s, who looks almost as if he is too scared to move.
“He doesn’t look too happy,” Torifu whispers out the side of his mouth. Kagami gulps and Tobirama narrows his eyes.
“Kagami,” he starts in a warning tone.
That’s as far as he gets. With a small squeak of fear, Kagami shifts to his own animal form. The he darts away, a tiny red fox flitting between the treetops. Tobirama scrambles to his feet and launches himself after the younger lad.
“Kagami!” he roars. “Get back here!”
Instead of listening the idiot hurls himself away at an angle, trying to use his smaller size to shake Tobirama’s pursuit by heading through gaps and places that he can’t fit. It doesn’t work, of course. The older man can follow him by sense alone and he always manages to get ahead of him when he cannot simply follow.
The pair of them cover nearly two miles of empty forest before Tobirama realizes he has the power to stop Kagami – provided the younger is quick enough to catch himself from the inevitable fall that will result. Keeping his hands at the ready in case he needs to flicker over and catch the other himself, Tobirama smirks.
“Kagami,” he drawls, his voice starting out almost singsong only to crack like a whip as calls, “chance back!”
A satisfactory yelp meets his ears as Kagami finds himself suddenly human just as he heads for a small gap that his little fox body would have only just fit through. Instead of having to catch him, Tobirama is treated to the sight of Kagami stuck between two branches, his skinny nineteen year old body wedged tightly between rough bark on both sides. The older of the two feels no guilt in stopping to enjoy the sight for a moment, smirking. Then he chuckles, hopping around so he can talk to the other face to face rather than speaking to his rump
“Perhaps next time you’ll listen when I ask you to stop.”
“Uhm, a little help?” Kagami’s whine is edged with the tones of defeat and dread.
“Are you going to stay still and listen?”
“Are you going to hit me?”
Rocking back on his heels in surprise, Tobirama blinks rapidly while exclaiming, “Why on earth would I hit you?” He’s more than startled to see Kagami break out in a mortified flush and drop his gaze as he suddenly begins to babble, body still wriggling in an attempt to get free.
“Okay so it wouldn’t be like you to hit me but I guess I was just scared because I was worried that you’d be disappointed. You’re amazing sensei, everyone knows that, and you deserve an amazing soulmate but you got me instead! I’m really sorry! I didn’t know, I promise! You can pretend it didn’t happen if you like, I would understand.” Tobirama opens his mouth to speak, only for Kagami to continue to bulldoze right over him, voice rising in pitch as he panics a little bit more with each word. “I was just afraid of your reaction. I didn’t want you to keep looking at me and show me how disappointed you were because – well because I always dreamed of finding my soulmate and being happy. And anyone would be happy to be you’re soulmate! But I’m just me!”
“For kami’s sake,” Tobirama grumbles under his breath, stomping down the branch he’s standing upon. Kagami blathers on and on – right up until Tobirama snatches a fistful of his hair, wrenches his head around for the right angle, and plants a kiss right on his still moving lips.
The younger man falls silent only after a startled moan, the one arm that isn’t trapped reaching over to fist in Tobirama’s shirt. He sucks in air desperately through his nose as Tobirama ravages his mouth without mercy, glad to force an end to the idiotic drivel the younger had been spouting. He releases Kagami only when he feels the other go lax under his hold, body languid and melting in the pleasure of the kiss.
“Just you indeed,” he grumbles. “Are you or are you not happy to find your soulmate after all the fuss you’ve kicked up about it in the past?” Kagami stares up at him, dazed.
“I’m very happy.”
“Then for sage’s sake what on earth inspired you to think I wouldn’t be?” The only response he gets is a gaping mouth as the other stares at him, dumbfounded. “What absolute nonsense.”
Kagami continues to stare at him silently as Tobirama stomps over to brace his back against the tree and use both legs to shift the branch trapping his soulmate in place. The younger has just enough time to squirm free before his foot slips and the tree snaps defiantly back in to place. Both of them stare at each other wordlessly, one nervous and the other heavily exasperated.
“Thanks…” Kagami murmurs, rubbing at his hair awkwardly.
With a sigh and another roll of his eyes, Tobirama takes hold of the younger man’s shirt and drags him in until their faces are nose to nose. “I did not spend the better part of a decade training you for you to think so little of yourself. Fur and fang, Kagami, you don’t get to tell me what I do and don’t deserve! I’d all but given up on finding my soulmate and the moment I discover you’ve been right here under my nose this whole time you tell me I should give up on you? Hogwash!”
“Sorry!”
“Don’t be sorry! Be…happy!”
“Well you don’t look happy!”
“Well I am!”
The two stare at each other with matching frowns – until Kagami wavers and bursts in to laughter. Tobirama shifts, his frown subsiding as embarrassment creeps in. Perhaps he is acting just a bit ridiculous, shouting about being happy with such an angry look on his face. He’s never been very good at expressing himself, especially not in his human form.
By the time his companion finally calms down it occurs to Tobirama, at last, what is happening. He’s found his soulmate. He is holding his soulmate in his arms and it’s not a stranger. It’s someone he knows, someone he cares about. The possibility never occurred to him. The picture he’d had in his mind was that of meeting a perfect stranger and trying to decide if it was worth getting to know them or not. In all honestly the idea has never enthused him very much. This…he likes this much more.
“Are you through with being an idiot?” he asks once Kagami is quiet once more.
“Wha-! Don’t be mean, sensei!” Kagami pouts, tilting his head back to look up at Tobirama and then pausing when he notices their faces are still quite close. The older man smirks.
“If you wish for me to kiss you again you will refrain from calling me ‘sensei’ from now on,” he drawls. The younger flushes.
“Right.”
Kagami does not call him sensei again.
-
(A very worried Torifu finds them later, comfortably ensconced in one of the trees growing just behind Tobirama’s house. The large white feline flicks its tail idly as he naps in a perfect patch of sunshine, curled protectively around the small red fox tucked into his side. Torifu stays just long enough to hear the loud rumble of a leopard’s purr before dashing away again with a smile.)

Donald Trump should NOT be Impeached (A presentation to my fellow Progressives) - [
Before you dismiss my initial statement, I would ask that you take the time to read my proposal in full. I understand that everyone is emotional. Our country has been attacked by Russia, our President doesn’t seem to be very interested in doing anything about it, every day it appears more and more that Mueller is going to prove some sort of collusion up and down the chain of command in the Trump Campaign with Russia, Trump has talked about pardoning himself and has put forth a Supreme Court Justice who wants to overturn Roe V Wade and doesn’t think that the President can be indicted and a whole slew of other reasons that he shouldn’t be put in a lifetime appointment position. The entire time he’s been filling all the Judicial positions that were open that the Republicans purposely left open as the Obama Presidency winded down so that they could do the very thing they are doing, reworking the Judicial for a generation or two. We have allegedly a person or group of people in the Administration who have supposedly kept information, decisions and other things from the President of the United States as they view themselves as the “resistance.” It seems bleak, I admit. However, despite this all, I believe that impeaching President Donald Trump before the end of his first term is a mistake that will ruin the United States for generations to come, and may even result in loss of life that can be avoided. My intention is to outline this into three parts outlined below. First, what are the avenues for Donald Trump to leave office. Second, what would happen if Donald Trump WAS impeached. Third, what is the best way and the reasons for removing Donald Trump from office at the one place he cannot argue with, the ballot box. Last, I would like to point out that impeaching Donald Trump fixes nothing.
WHAT ARE THE WAYS THAT DONALD TRUMP WOULD LEAVE OFFICE
Baring him passing away (which I won’t explore), there are only really three ways that Donald Trump will leave office. He either resigns, is impeached, or voted out. So let’s get the first one out of the way. Donald Trump will assuredly never resign, but lets say he does, finishing his re-enactment of the Nixon Presidency completely. What would happen? First, if we all recall, Donald Trump started spouting that he was getting screwed over BEFORE the election. Remember his numerous claims that “Crooked Hillary” was going to rig the election? Heck, he WON and still couldn’t stop spreading the conspiracy theory that has already been debunked, even by his own Administration, that millions of people voted illegally. As he was assuming that he would lose the election, he was already making plans to launch a media conglomerate of some sort, something even FARTHER to the right than Fox News.
SOURCE: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/06/donald-trump-tv-network
He knows that he has a large, hardcore, dedicated base. He was going to cash in on that, making even more money than he has spouting off to the ends of time that he was screwed out of the election. I have no doubt we would have seen an Alex Jones show on his network or website or whatever he was going to do. I believe that if he resigned, he would go right back to that plan, setting himself up to promote his son to follow in his footsteps into politics, emerging as a “calmer” Trump with the same base. Give it another few years, and we might be dealing with ANOTHER Trump back in the White House. He no doubt would only do this if he was 100% going to be impeached, and either pardoned himself or had assurances that Mike Pence would issue the pardon, after Trump issues pardons for everyone in his family or who had remained “loyal” to the end.
So, that leaves us with impeachment. There is going to have to be HARD evidence of something past a couple campaign finance violations to pay off porn stars. Keep in mind that Mueller cannot charge the President with a crime while he is in office. That means he will have to present overwhelming evidence to get at least a large portion of the Republican members of the House and Senate to come along and vote for it. If we remember, Bill Clinton was not impeached because there wasn’t enough votes in the Senate. This instance is no different. First, the Democrats have to win a majority of the House in November. While predicted, it is not guaranteed. I remember that Florida was guaranteed to go to Gore. I remember that Hillary was guaranteed to win as well. IF the Democrats pick up the majority, they get control of the Judiciary Committee, which has to investigate the matter AFTER Mueller is done with his probe and has presented evidence of “high crimes” of a sort. Still, no guarantee. Once they investigate, they can then vote to recommend. If they recommend (If they didn’t the House can still vote for Impeachment, but if the Rep still control it that won’t happen), they you just need a simple majority of the House to vote for it. If Dems control it, most likely that will be easy enough to do. Then, it goes to the Senate. They have a hearing, present a case…and TWO THIRDS of the Senate needs to vote for Impeachment, not a simple majority. Even IF the Democrats pick up a couple seats, they will in no way be able to get the 2/3 required to get it past the Senate. NO Impeachment proceeding has made it past this point. Both Johnson and Clinton avoided the conviction by the Senate and stayed in office.
So we are left with voting him out. I feel that this is the most responsible, effective, and frankly RIGHT decision to do, which I’ll outline at the end. Why? Because the one being called for is my part two.
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF DONALD TRUMP IS IMPEACHED
So I think it’s fair to say that if Trump resigned, as I outlined above, he would build up his news empire he wanted to create 2 years ago, with Ivanka and Jared at the helm, and start pushing for his son to move into politics to “avenge” him. I think it would be WORSE than that if he was impeached. While I agree that it is anticotal, I have lost literally hundreds of friends who I thought were sane people, on social media, starting when Obama started to run. Even cousins of mine, their racism and hatred just came out of nowhere. It’s still there. I still have friends who are Conservatives, but even some that I would call “Alt-Right” who have shared memes, posts, threats of men and women holding guns and saying “Just say the word, Mr. President and we’ll be there.” While I don’t think enough can take action to present a civil war of any sort, I DO think that some of them may actually take up some arms. Remember, Trump pardoned people who took over federal lands and pointed weapons at federal law enforcement. He has pardoned people that have defied the law for “conservative values.” He has emboldened a racist portion of this country that at least kept to themselves but now we have literal Nazis walking our streets and killing people already. Do you really think Trump will come out and make a conciliatory speech if he is impeached, humbled? I don’t think he’d tell people to go out and shoot elected officials or anyone else, but he DID call for people to use their “Second Amendment Rights”
SOURCE: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/10/us/politics/donald-trump-hillary-clinton.html I believe that his base will be even MORE emboldened. This would also put Mike Pence in the driver’s seat as the President. All of those “Never Trumpers” in the Republican Party who have left, I think would be ok with coming back because they can support Mike Pence. I think that if that happens, you handed Mike Pence the 2020 election. I also think Mike Pence would pardon Trump to ensure nothing happens to him, endearing him to that Trump base as well so they continue supporting him. Basically, we will continue to get the exact same policies we’ve seen for 2 years, minus the rallies and Twitter. If any of my fellow Progressives want to see Universal Healthcare, an increase in the Min Wage, end of Trade Wars, Immigration Reform, Debt and Deficit reduction, or Free College, those will be pushed off for at least another generation. That leaves us with our last option. Voting Donald Trump out of office in 2020.
WE NEED TO VOTE DONALD TRUMP OUT OF OFFICE
We all know he didn’t win the Popular Vote. We all know that Russia interfered in the election of 2016. We all know that Comey screwed up and talked about re-opening the Clinton Email probe just a week before the election. Most of us know that Hillary Clinton was not the best candidate that we could have put up against Donald Trump. Nothing enrages the right more than using the Clinton name, and gets them out to the polls to put her down. She had lost already against Barack Obama, and while she did defeat Bernie Sanders, he was clearly the better candidate to go out there and negate most of the problems that Clinton put up. However, knowing all of that, there is really only 1 group’s fault for Donald Trump being President.
Us. It’s our fault. The American People voted him into office. We have to own up for that, and we need to redeem ourselves. Prior to the election, even though my candidate Bernie Sanders was not at the top of the ticket, I still at the time didn’t think that we would REALLY vote in Donald Trump. We did. Look at the map and all that red
SOURCE: https://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/president
There are 350 million people in the US, roughly. Of that, there is roughly 235 million people of voting age in the US. About 128 million people voted, which is roughly half, and of those, a little less than 63 million voted for Donald Trump. In the Electoral College, he won almost every purple state of Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Florida. He won areas that Obama had won by double digits, and he won right where it counted. We can admit that Hillary mis-managed her campaign and didn’t go where she should have, or do things she should have, but at the end of the day, the American people…. KNOWING that this man had bragged about grabbing women by their privates, that he had attacked Gold Star families, that he had called Mexicans rapists and murderers coming into the US, that he had said we should ban Muslims and put spies and listening devices into places of worship, that we should outlaw the Press and shut down their institutions, that we would waste money on a costly and stupid wall, and that he had affairs all over the place… people STILL got into that voting booth and voted for him enough to get him into office. Sure, I have no doubt some of those people are racists who would have voted for him anyway no matter what, but there has to be more than enough people who just couldn’t vote for Hillary, or bought his lies and voted for him. But ultimately, it also lands at the feet of those people who DIDN’T vote.
Donald Trump has never had a simple majority of the country support him. Ever. In fact, he’s had majorities of the country look down on him and his actions prior, during and after the election fairly consistently. Those people didn’t vote. The Democrats did not put forth a candidate to inspire people to come out and vote like they did for Barack Obama. In 2012, Obama beat Romney with 66 million votes to Romney’s 61 million. In 2008, Obama beat McCain 69 million to 59 million. That means that MOER people came out to vote for Donald Trump than Mitt Romney and John McCain. At the same time, far less people came out to vote for Hillary Clinton than Barack Obama. We need to get our act together and get out and VOTE. We need the farmers in Iowa and Wisconsin, the out of work factory workers of Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and we need someone to wake up all those young people in Florida to get out and VOTE. People who voted for Trump and regret it, and people who didn’t vote need to do their part.
I believe this is the only way to exorcize the stench of Donald Trump and his ilk from the White House and Government. Donald Trump has claimed some Deep State is thwarting him, and if he has to resign or is impeached, he will claim until his dieing day that the Deep State is what took him out. The Swamp won. But if the American people vote him out, we are saying that we made a mistake and we’d like to fix it. We’re saying that we are NOT a country of Trump people, but sane people who differ in opinions and views but can come together when it matters most. This will also ensure that a Democrat is in the White House who will NOT pardon Donald Trump after he leaves office. This will ensure that Mike Pence does NOT become President. This will save The Republic.
WHY IMPEACHING DONALD TRUMP FIXES NOTHING
I understand it’s a risk. However, I have faith in the American people and the large swath of young people getting active in government and activism to get the vote out. We need to do everything we can to ensure our friends, family, neighbors, loved ones, EVERYONE gets out to vote. A little over half of the eligible voters get out to vote. 2020 has to have the largest voter turnout we’ve ever seen. If we can just get 60% of that voter base out, that’s 141 million votes right there. If the exact same people vote for Trump again, that means 79 million votes for his opponent. THAT would send a message to him, his base, his ilk, and the world that we aren’t going to stand for this, and that Democracy works.
Impeach him, and his base cries forever and continues to grow in strength. He will enrich himself off of this. Other countries like China or Russia will point out that American democracy does not work. It will hurt our standing even more, and cause problems and potential uprisings for years to come.
Impeach him, and you just leave in everyone but him. Do you think that magically we’ll stop trying to build a wall? Do you think we’ll reverse are hardline immigration policies? Do you think we’ll all of the sudden stop trade wars and stop stacking the courts? No. The people or person who wrote the op-ed saying they were the “resistance” are not courageous. They are cowards who KNOW what Trump is, but do what so many other Republicans have done. Compromised their integrity and morals so they can get some judges and some polices they want.
It starts with the mid-terms. Democrats need to come out and vote and take control of the House and Senate, and put halts on all of the things that Trump is doing. Put a halt to judge appointments. Put a halt to legislation. They need to spend the next 2 years between 2018 and 2020 letting Mueller finish his probe, present his findings, and beat the living hell out of the White House for the entire time. They need to stop him from carrying out actions and laws that would hurt the country, and make him wear what he has done for that time. And then in 2020 the American people need to do their part and vote him out. Heck, if they don’t know what to investigate… Republicans spent 2-3 years investigating Benghazi and got nothing. Just take the leaked Republican memo of things they are AFRAID they’ll investigate… and investigate that for 2 years. Should be plenty of things to do.

I don’t even think that we’ll have Kavanaugh prevented from getting on the Supreme Court. Even IF that happens (although with today’s happenings I might be wrong and he may have to withdraw) the solution is simple. Get a majority, block further appointments, get a Dem in the White House in 2020 and just put in 2 more justices bringing it up to 11 to even it out. I HOPE though, that we can delay until November, and when the Dems can take over, they can use the argument that a President “under investigation” should not nominate life time appointment positions until it is resolved.
At the end of the day, as of right now, we don’t have concrete evidence that Trump has done anything. We have plenty of reason to believe it with plenty of his circle guilty of crimes and turning on each other. We have plenty of reason to believe it with people close to him turning on him. However, we don’t have enough ammo to take him out of office at this point. I believe impeaching him will hurt the nation and our chances of turning back at the LEAST towards the center if not to the left in 2018 and 2020. I know everyone wants to do it, but I don’t think that the end result will be what we want, or the country needs.
