Watch closely! There was no better spot for the TV in this multipurpose dining room than right in front of the window. Visible from the seating area and the work area of the kitchen. I designed the window seat with a back just deep enough to hold a TV and an hydraulic lift. The tv spends most of its time hidden but when it’s time to watch withe the press of a button it’s in just the right spot for cooking shows or catching up on the news. After and before. Although I’m known for my interiors my exteriors are a big part of what I do. Creating curb appeal and enhancing what already exists brings me a lot of joy. Making a home look like it just happened on it’s own takes a lot thought and planning, simple nuances between shape, texture and colour. Matching without being matchy, contrast without clashing. Good tension. While I’m only working on a couple areas of this home at the moment we have to think about the direction we are taking the whole house in. Is it sustainable, is it friendly will it gently guide the direction or is it bossy? Pictured is just the beginning but that’s when you’ve got to get it right, then come the layers, the added colours and patterns that don’t necessarily match the “theme” but work and make things look natural. This kitchen has been liked and shared sooooooo many times I’ve lost track. Black is strong yet demure. It takes a back seat while being the star of the show.
