So- I’ve got a funny album cover idea...
Tumblr media
Sorry for the poor lighting. I plan to watercolor this hopefully soon.
Based on this Harry Chapin cover-

Another drawing I did of Dimitri reminded me of this, but since Cat’s in the Cradle is the only song I know by him and that’s about a dad talking about his son, well... unless Dimitri surprises us by being someone’s dad, it wouldn’t make sense. I’m including him anyways though because that was the original intention. And you never know- he is close in age to Aristotle and Arthur. Ari, Arthur, and Barnaby are dads to my knowledge though so...
If I find time and energy, maybe I’ll try one with Billie, Fanto, Elaine, and Dutch or something- no promises though.

cats in the cradle bothers me for the obvious reason that the song is sad and bittersweet, (yes, the father should’ve prioritized spending time with his son, and the son turned out just like him: too busy to spend anytime with family) but there’s this line in the beginning about “planes to catch and bills to pay” and I know in the context of the song that’s probably just the father making excuses for not spending time with his son, but it could just as easily not be an excuse. he’s forced to make a living and make money presumably so he can support his son, the very person who he doesn’t have time for. and it bothers me because this is an unfortunate reality for a lot of families. it doesn’t matter how much people try to prioritize those in their life or what matters to them. there’s never going to be enough time to spend because capitalism is pulling us away from them.
