Uh oh besties, I just realized something

I was rereading the prompt I wrote for the wonderful needcake and I was thinking about Sadık's problem was that he took Herakles for granted.

You know who also takes his friends, allies and family for granted as the story progresses? Michele.

It would make immense sense if Herakles noticed the writing on the wall, perhaps even played Cassandra (BECAUSE GOD FORBID ANY OF THESE PIGHEADS EVER LISTEN TO EACH OTHER), but definitely saw the parallels after the disaster.

And he sees how terrible Michele feels for it all and how much he just wants to get rid of this behaviour, wants to make it up to those around him.

Herakles must have seen this and as bad as he felt for Michele, as much as he recognized the unproductive self-hate in the genuine desire to make it up to his loved ones ...

... he must have thought back to Sadık. He must have been so bitter when he thought of his grand, imperial ego that took his love for granted and think 'Why didn't you try to change your ways? Why didn't you show this level of dedication to make it up to me? Why couldn't you have the decency and actually humble yourself?'
