it's been a long night, but a good one. good in a way dick thinks they haven't had in a decent amount of time. wally's watching mar'i, and tim let them know he's out with bruce. it's been easy bits and pieces - some muggings to break up, some drunk people to figure out, some carjackings to stop. nothing major, no deaths, no egregious violence.

and they sit shoulder to shoulder, now, eating hotdogs and sharing a milkshake back and forth because dick always says he can't finish it but ends up wanting at least a little bit anyway. there aren't many stars that kind shine through the pollution, but the ones that do are a welcome sight. dick swings his feet over the rooftop and leans into jason a little. ❛ i missed you, ❜ sounds like a stupid thing to say - they see each other most nights. but it's not always the same. ❛ s'been a good night. ❜

❛ oh, i didn't know you'd be - i didn't know what time you'd be here, ❜ buck's wearing gloves, and the whole apartment smells like disinfectant. because it's been a little while since jason came over and buck doesn't want to use the word depressed but he'll acknowledge that the loft was pretty bad. so he's cleaned it four times, now, just keeps going around and around in circles but jason's here now, so -

so buck thinks maybe jason's here to break up with him. which is -- he doesn't really want to be wearing gloves for that. so he pulls the gloves off and tries to look normal, lingering just inside the doorway. ❛ hi. ❜

"Screw top bottle of wine? Is this how you woo your interests? What's next, boxed wine? Frozen mac and cheese dinners?" Matt can't be fooled. Jason's grinning like an idiot into his phone, it's probably audible. "You say that like you're nearby. That's risky business. Who know what exciting things I might be up to right now without anyone around."

  As if Matt hadn't asked him three days ago if he had any plans for tonight.

"Well, if you do have a guest, tell them to pitch in, and we'll graduate to a bottle with a cork.” He presses the phone to his chest and tells the shop seller, “A dozen. Red, please.” He puts his phone back to his ear. “I’m ten minutes away. Now, was that a formal request for frozen mac and cheese? Because I can make that happen. I’m good like that.”

An ( EAGER ) tilt of the arachnids head as he watched the other move swiftly ; a wave of curiosity GRAPPLING with the wind. Just SECONDS ago he was ( wrestling ) with a reptile that nearly split him open . . . and the next following a slender MASKED (seemingly) vigilante. However, not to note it DEROGATORILY ; it gave the arachnid a sense of peace , an unspoken OATH ( oddly ). Surrounded by those that understand the virtue of RIGHTING ( wrongs ) or that the DEVIL dances everywhere not just in the p a l e moonlight.

HIS side ( gushing ) with crimson, a hiss so SILENT it was inaudible. Falling a few steps behind from the other, as he released SPINDLES upon his wound to compress both the LOGISTICAL ( laceration ), but the also subjective PAIN. Hollering towards the other while he BANDAGED,

❝ Y'know SPIDERS can't SWIM . . . that's just HARSH ( dude ) ! ❞

He felt OBLIGATED to make sure no other HARM was to come, not tonight. INHALING as he forced himself to jog towards the other, soon seeing an ( opportunity ) to block the other's ROUTE. Hopping onto a BAR that hung from a CRIPPLED building, a whine in his voice as he could feel the WEBBING tearing from FLESH. He swung and leaped, shooting SPINDLES towards the other's feet, ( IDEALLY ) keeping him there.

❝ Why don't ya tell me all about this MISSION of yours, can't say I can find it on the world-wide WEB .. ❞

Tim had one goal. To make Jason feel like he trusted him... without telling him that he trusted him. In Tim’s defense, it wasn’t that he didn’t want Jason to know. It was just that he didn’t have the faintest idea if a conversation like that would even end successfully. 

So, instead, when he found himself mildly outnumbered-- only mildly; he was fine, really. Just being cautious...-- Tim went for Jason’s radio line, instead of someone else’s. “Hood. You got a second? The corner of Conway and Wolfman... might need two extra hands, if you’re available.”

"I do mean well, and I genuinely want to know how've you been doing and what's new in your life and why you look like... that. Nice change, I dig it." Okay, so she's had her head stuck in her own shit for awhile now, she's missed a lot, it's no reflection on Jason. It doesn't matter if she's only in town following up a lead and she had absolutely no inclination of letting anyone, let alone Jason of all people, know she was here. These things are personal, close to the heart — the less anyone else is involved, the better.

"Ugh." He should know by now that getting emotionally vulnerable with Jason leads to awful fucking puns, though Tim can admit that he kind of left that one wide open.

He kicks his legs up, resting them on the edge of the roof and shoves three takis in his mouth at once to let it settle for a second. The five years since his dad actually died somehow feels like five minutes and five centuries, and Tim will never know what their relationship could have looked like, but dwelling on that will lead nowhere productive.

"Speaking of-- you heard from B? I missed his last scheduled check-in."

Batman's offworld, which means Gotham is in the tender loving care of Red Hood and Red Robin for a little while and it's going... surprisingly okay, though he knows now that he's had the thought it means something catastrophic is going to happen within the next day or so, probably.
