Fireafy shower thoughts that I realized for this story I'm trying to write #1

I remembered that Firey gave / built Leafy an whole ass ferris wheel for her twice

Now of course, the ferris wheel would lead to the downfall of the two, but ya know, for just for a friend... that seems like a big ass gift and work for just a pal Like Firey doesn't do anything similarly big to any for his other close friends

YES OH MY GOD I THINK ABOUT THIS SO MUCH… and the end part about how firey doesn’t do stuff like that for his other friends… have you ever thought about who his actual friends are? just think about it… everyone he associated with in bfdi were almost just acquaintances… he was super focused on challenges and usually worked more independently when he had the chance He didn’t really make time for friends and stuff.. he had minor friendships with certain people but he mainly stuck to his objective of winning dream island whereas leafy liked to work with people during challenges that didn’t require teamwork (like ice cube and sometimes bubble) or random people she would help during challenges) if you think about it hard enough… leafy was fireys only true friend (at least in bfdi)!!! she was the only one to establish a friendship with firey and it seemed like firey needed that push to see someone as a real friend instead of a fellow competitor (or enemy LOL). she was the only one he ever really stood up for he really really saw her as a friend he has never done any of that for anyone else before either (at least up until then) and he also changed his challenge strategy of independence with her at least a couple times… he stuck with her through the challenge in bfdi 20 (for as long as he could…) and occasionally stuck with her through bfdi 23. firey also really passionately defended her and demanded for her to be back when she died and announcer told him that he sold the recovery centers. and yeah of course the ferris wheel GAH but you already mentioned that! and of course firey saving leafy from her punishment of what they thought would be permanent death even tho they were punishing her for something she did mainly to firey … but to wrap up my point! firey has never expressed compassion the same way he has for leafy with anyone else. she was his only true friend in bfdi she was like the only one he ever really had to consider a friend for that whole season of competition … of course there’s much more to discuss for later seasons but i’ve been typing for like over 30 minutes now so i’m gonna quit HAHAHA SORRYYY there are so many words i am really enthusiatic about them

Max reminded you of summer. Sunny. Smiling. Warm. He was your vacation, your rest and your home. "I missed you," you mumbled leaning deeper into his touch. "How was filming?" he inquired, pouring you a glass of wine. "Hectic, but nothing compared to racing." you chuckled - pressing a kiss to his jaw.

This year - everything revolved around him. It revolved around his practices and how he could fight to win the WDC. He slumped on the sofa beside you - reaching for the blanket and allowing it to cover the lower part of your torso.

"What movie are we going to watch?" he reached for the popcorn in the coffee table. Excited for what kind of film you'd choose. Last time it was horror - but you were in a romantic mood. "Something romantic comedy, I kinda wanna sleep tonight." you chuckled, browsing through Netflix's large catalogue of movies.

A small exhale exits his mouth - the air conditioner was making the room colder. A perfect temperature for watching a movie. "I can't wait until we get to watch you in Netflix," he prophecized. "I have a feeling that it's going to be soon." you smiled.

"Yeah, we'll watch your movie next month right? Licorice Pizza, I've already told everyone to watch it." he boasted, showing you that he did his job spreading the good word on the grid. A small giggle escapes your mouth - seeing that dedicated smile on his face.

"I can't find anything - let's just rewatch black mirror." you sighed, pressing on the familiar poster. It wasn't like you were going to watch a single thing tonight.

Carlos sits beside you - a cup of water at hand. "What are you doing here?" you inquire, surprised to see him in this kind of place. "I ditched the redbull party a few hours ago. Me and Lando were looking for you." he informed, taking a shot of his vodka.

A fake smile paints your lips - you completely forgot about how furious you felt about Max. "I decided to hang out with my friends," you lied - not wanting to talk shit about your boyfriend. "Ahh, I see. Do you want more alcohol? Lando will drive us home." he half-yelled due to the techno music blasting the room. "Yeah!" your best friend yelled in return, dancing to the tune with her upper body.

the night was cold, your blanket was bunched up to your nose, leaving only your eyes exposed as you rewatched Brooklyn nine-nine for the third time on your phone. you were huddled in the comfort of your bedroom, the only light source being your phone screen and the small lamp next to you.

it was yet another day of you waiting on seungmin. it was like any other night, except you were missing him a little more than usual today.

as you watched rosa and captain holt continue to be the best possible duo in the show, you did not notice the apartment door opening and the jiggling of seungmin's keys, the pattering of his feet on the hardwood floors unnoticed.

just as he was about to announce that he was home with a contented smile on his face, he saw that you weren't in the living room. seeing that you were not at your usual spot on the couch had him puzzled and slightly worried. were you okay? did something happen to you? his mind continued to race as he opened the bedroom door, only to see you covered in a mountain of pillows and blankets. he felt his shoulders relax seeing you safe, a smile reappearing on his face seeing your head jolt towards his direction.

your eyes lit up when you saw him, nearly slipping as you ran towards him and engulfed him in a hug. he swore he felt his heart beat out of his chest from the way you nuzzled into him.

“hello to you too.” he coos, caressing the top of your head.

“hi.” the sound of your voice is muffled as you hide your face in his shirt, breathing in the smell of the perfume that you got him for his birthday. it made your heart flutter knowing that he wore it everyday, without failure.

“i missed you, so much.” you tilt your head up to see the soft smile he had adorned, a slight crinkle forming around his eyes. there was so much fondness in them your legs nearly buckled from the sight.

“missed you too.” he squeezes your body towards his, giving you a near bone crushing hug. you did not mind it of course, only squeezing back with the same force.

he chuckles, an amused expression forming on his face as you tried to lift him off the ground. alas, to no avail. to your surprise, he turned you around and lifted you off the ground with ease, arms wrapped tightly around your middle so that your back was pressed against his chest. he waddles to the bed and crashes onto it, still holding you against him.

you two lay there on the bed like two teenagers doing something that they weren't supposed to do, giggling and smiling at each other like idiots in love. you faced him, his arm propping his head up to look down at you. he was breathtaking, and he knew it. he grins, sticking out his tongue at you and you've never wanted more than to just kiss that smug look off his face. so, you decide to pull his arm close to you, so that he was inches away from you.

he laughs as you peck his face repeatedly, the sound loud and unfiltered. you pull back and rest your chin on your palm, staring at him, staring back at you. there was a twinkle in his eyes, a light flush on his cheeks, the warm hue from the lamp on your nightstand made his face glow in the most ethereal way.

he was gorgeous. so, so gorgeous. the way his lips were upturned, the way he smiled so that all his teeth showed. you wondered how he looked so endearing despite coming back at such an ungodly hour.

“you wanna know something?” seungmin says out of the blue, catching you off guard. you tilt you head in confusion, and he swears he falls in love all over again.

“what?” you question, anticipation clear in your voice.

“i love you so much,” he takes a big inhale, “and i genuinely think you outshine the sun even on your darkest days." oh wow. you were not expecting his confession, especially one on that level of grandeur.

“well, it is like 1am so there is no sun to compare with,” you say with a teasing grin, watching the love sick expression on seungmin’s face be replaced with a “i am so done with you" look.

“i’m never being sappy with you ever again.” he huffs and turns to the other side, his arms crossed and letting out fake cries.

this man.

“love you too, baby.” you lean over to peck his exposed shoulder, smiling when you feel goosebumps rise on his skin.

the second peter had his hand on your window, your laptop slammed shut. you were sitting a little too straight up, your hands in plain sight.

'were you watching porn?' you sputter, the idea making your chest feel warm. 'no! i was just looking at stuff.' peter's eyebrow quirks, 'porn stuff?'

'no!' your eyes flash around the room, it's a guilty look. 'oh, c'mon, it can't be that bad. what kind of stuff are you into?' peter swears he's joking, but when he playfully reaches for your computer you flatten yourself on top of it.

'holy shit, it really is porn.'

'it's not porn! it's... it's... for you. yeah, it's for you and it's a surprise!' your boyfriend blinks, 'you have to believe the lie to sell it, trouble.'

you couldn't be caught, peter would never forgive you.

'did you miss me that bad? you had to pregame my arrival?' you huff, sitting up and fixing your hair, you don't realize how close your boyfriend got.

'no!'

peter's having way too much fun, 'then what were you doing?'

'i already told you, nothing!'

peter's quick, he grabs your laptop but not before you catch the other side. a gentle game of tug and war. 'i'm gonna look.' you tug, it's useless, peter could rip it from your grasp in a second.

'no! not allowed!'

'then tell me what you're hiding.'

'no!' you screech louder when he takes total ownership of the machine. guilt washes over you, you've been caught red handed. the only solution was looking at your knees.

your boyfriend gasps in horror at the screen, it sounds like how you knew he'd feel about it.

'i'm sorry, peter. you were never supposed to find out.'

'how could you do this to me? to us?'

you can't even make eye contact. 'i know, i'm sorry.'

it's like it chokes him to say, 'how long has this been going on?' you look up at him, if you plead he may accept your apology.

'not long, i promise! it was just today.... and maybe last week. but i swear i'll never do it again.'

'this hurts, trouble. this really hurts me.'

sure, maybe you did betray his trust a little. but he's the one that got you hooked in the first place, he can't push all the blame on you.

'but you've already seen it! and i really wanted to see the next episode and you weren't here and i figured it would be okay... but that was four episodes ago.'

'fine. but you need to keep me updated, because the only reason i'm rewatching it is so i can experience it with you.'

a subtle confession, something you weren't supposed to take to heart, but you did. the whole reason peter got you watching was so he could relive all his favorite parts, but with you.

you pout, peter pushes your computer back in your hands and points at your bottom lip. 'no. you dug your grave, you don't get to be sad that i'm sad.'

'but i'm really sorry.'

'sorry you got caught.'

'no! i'll never watch it without you, i promise.' except you were in the middle of a very juicy scene and you're itching to press play. peter can read you like a book.

'you wanna do it right now, don't you?'

'no.' ..... 'yes.' ..... 'but i won't.'

'god gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.'

peter doesn't understand the restraint you're showing. 'you stink, go take a shower.'

'promise you won't keep watching?'

it's hard, but you can do it for him.

I rewatched ep 10 here are some thoughts:

We knew Jin took the video but he is an unreliable narrator, I don’t think he leaked it even if he said he did. Someone else leaked it but who? It would be such lazy writing because we, the audience, already saw Jin had Twitter on white mode and the video was leaked by someone who had dark mode. Why would the writers miss something so obvious? Anyway.

I understand Phee’s POV (if he’s being truthful): he did not sign up for murder nor did he know what he was really getting into. It’s also a very human thing to fall in love again and I liked that they played this card as well (not because I care for this ship or for any other ship tbh but because it such an earthling thing to do. “I love you despite of it all & i fell for you even though this started as a lie & we are both flawed & we are both guilty” bla bla bla. Love it and I will eat it up each time) Phee in this case plays the role of some of the audience (an important part of the audience is on New/Tan’s side regardless, while the rest is thinking this is too much and he needs to be stopped. There are also people who see them as simply gray characters and think that none are pure and aren’t taking any sides because they think it's pointless, but the writers don’t care about them imo. They want the first two categories to fight in the trenches about who’s right and who’s wrong and miss important details along the way - because we want so badly for some characters to deserve what they are getting).

White. We don’t know who White is and it’s been 10 episodes. This is supposed to be a slasher/thriller/murder mystery and the writers made sure we love him and hate his boyfriend Tee. But the actors said in several interviews that White is very similar to Tee and also described him as vain. Now why did they do that? The writers made sure the audience hate Tee. Now that could mean 1000 things. Maybe they are playing into the narrative: White is a colateral victim, Tee was a shitty kid but a kid too who was the product of the very bad adults around him & although he is flawed look how much he loves White. They already gave us fluffy flashbacks episode with PheeNon & Pheejin. Are we getting another one with TeeWhite this late in the show? I don’t think so. White remained spotless ‘till now but I feel a twist coming. He is probably related to someone very important or withholds some very important information from us, the audience. Are they gonna explain to us White and Phee’s little moment in the beginning of the show? That had to mean something. Some people say White is just a colateral victim. Because we saw already that New doesn’t care if people who weren’t directly involved die. So I see why people believe that as well. But White is one of the main characters so I don’t think he is just a damsel in distress.

Phee is also an unreliable narrator. He thinks New did all that but he doesn’t know all the details. Phee at this point knows less than the audience and is showing us what he thinks is true. What we saw half of this episode is what Phee thinks happened, but New is telling the audience nothing so we can't be sure.

New never trusted Phee. He already warned him 2 years ago, he already saw how his dynamic with Jin would play out, he predicted a lot of his moves, he used him but did not tell his real plan (and why would he? New wants the world to burn he has no time for feelings).

More people are going (and need) to die because this is a slasher. They have 2 episodes to kill pretty much everyone and I wanna be entertained. I want this to go out with a bang.

Also this is just my opinion and burning desire but i want a big reveal. I don't want the big reveal to be that Tan is New because it wasn't a big reveal for the audience (who already saw it coming) and it surely was not a big reveal to the other characters involved.

I also have a fic I've been writing as I rewatch the series and it's basically a complete dissection of chenford's feelings for each other from 1x01 up through 4x22. It's been a fun challenge to write and it's turned into a 45k word monstrosity and it's finally almost done and I'm so excited to share it!

For now, here is a sneak peek from season 2.

Lucy is fine.

Despite what everyone else seems to think, she’s fine.

But deep down, she knows she’s not. She’s been white knuckling it since the moment they pulled out of the station yesterday, and she knows, despite her denials, that Harper and Lopez understand what happened last night. She knows she overreacted, and she knows that visceral instinct probably isn’t going away for a while.

And she really does appreciate Harper’s support and her willingness to help.

But the truth is, the first semblance of safety Lucy feels is when she turns around to find Tim standing behind her, tossing a compliment at her in a way that only he could pull off.

She thinks that’s the end of it, turns back to the bag, but then Tim is speaking again, telling her about his own scars and giving her a glimpse into a childhood she knows nothing about. And she knows what he’s trying to do, knows he’s trying to show her that he can relate to what she’s going through. She appreciates his attempts to help, too. She does. But his scars are different, and she doesn’t want to push him away, but she needs him to understand that it’s not the same.

She went on a date with a serial killer who tattooed her and buried her alive, and despite her psychology degree and months of training as a cop, she somehow missed all the signs that could have prevented her from ending up there in the first place. Instead, she now has a permanent reminder of her failure inked into her skin.

Lucy opens her mouth to fight back – to tell Tim that she appreciates his attempts to help but that he’s missing the point – but before she can he’s speaking again, and this time he’s saying everything she didn’t realize she needed to hear.

But you didn’t die.

I see it as proof that you’re a survivor.

It was the first day of the rest of your life.

And then he tosses her ring back to her and smiles softly, and Lucy is hit by so many emotions she can’t even begin to decipher them all.

Her feelings for Tim have gotten… complicated. She likes him. Not like that. Just… as a person.

But it’s more than that, because now he’s not just the guy she spends twelve hours a day with, sometimes navigating all kinds of complex and often dangerous situations and sometimes simply talking about any and everything. Now, he’s the guy who has her back without question. He’s the guy who is willing to share painful pieces of his own trauma just to help her come to terms with hers. He’s the guy who pulled her from the ground and breathed air back into her lungs and spent the night at her hospital bedside.

She owes him her life.

She owes him… everything.

And she’s not quite sure how to reconcile the man standing in front of her with the one who used to make her life a living hell in every possible way.

I am interested in hearing your take on this I’ve been thinking a lot about this since the trailer dropped . Something I’ve been analyzing is the relationship differences between Quinn/Mark vs Quinn/Logan. Quinn was always looking for more from Mark and he never could give it. When they start dating it her wanting to date him ( I don’t think he even knows her name) radio episode because he won’t kiss her. She is always looking for more intimacy. So she would get upset and he would like kinda give into her. Then they fell into this boring relationship. The moment he found what he actually wanted he left.

It was such a 180 to see her with Logan because it was like “oh I wanna kiss you all of the time.” There was this passion that a teenage relationship should have. She’s finally getting like a real high school relationship. Logan is finally seeing that knowing someone before just making out with them makes you want them more. Also looking back he’s the one making moves in the sense of him comforting her and he’s the one that said I love you first. He was choosing her and I think that was something she always wanted.

In the trailer we see that their relationship hasn’t dimmed he still wanting to touch her all the time and be close to her. He just seems so glad to have her and Quinn deserves that kind of treatment. I really hope they show the growth of the relationship and not just have them as the comic relief… I hope that they show that Logan just got carried away with the wedding because he wanted it to be perfect but when she runs away he realizes that he just needs to choose her and so they go back to their root and get married at PCA. Sorry this is super long I’ve just been obsessing over this.

Warning: I may be looking too much into a teen's show

I've been re-watching specifically Quinn and Mark's episodes as well as Quinn and Logan's, because I wanted to have a better understanding of both relationships. I hadn't seen all yet and been doing it more at random, so feel free to add more if you want.

Like you mentioned, Quinn and Mark's relationship started because she wanted it and the whole time he seemed quite uninterested on it/her. It's not that he was mean to her or a terrible boyfriend (save for the cheating, I'm side-eying you there, Mark), it's just that he just wasn't as into it and her as Quinn, I don't remember him telling her he loves her (like I said, I'm still rewatching, it might not have happened, or I must have missed it).

Let's see the differences between Logan and Mark when it comes to being Quinn's boyfriend.

Affection:

Mark:

Like you mentioned, in my rewatch I also noticed Mark didn't give her affection unless she requested it, it wasn't just the kiss, it's details like her holding his hand in the scene where she was directing towards the violinist and him dropping it as soon as he could. He just didn't seem interested in doing those things with Quinn.

He is seen holding Brooke's hand when Quinn catches them and he seemed happy to do so

So it's not that he doesn't like affection, he just didn't seem to like giving it to Quinn.

Logan:

Logan, however, is as clingy as her (maybe a little more, even). He has no problem giving her what she wants without having to being asked for it. Their very first scene post kiss starts with him telling her she "has the prettiest eyes" and them sharing an eskimo kiss, both happy and giggling. After they decide to "stop" (not even they believed that lol) he ask her for one more eskimo kiss before they go.

Then, on their next scene they're kissing again, unable to stop. Something that catched my attention was when Quinn was trying to get him to tell her what was bothering him, she got it once she used the "no telling no kisses" threat, and Logan's face too! He was like "tfym no kisses :("

Like, it's amazing to me, they've been dating for seconds and she already knew her kisses had an effect on him, and he folded so easily as soon as she said that, like they both knew he did not want the make out sessions to stop. Her confidence about it is a point I'll bring later on.

He's also the one requesting kisses, whenever they finished discussing something and he knows they have time he pops the "wanna make out?" question, and that's so funny, but also so cute, like you said, he's all like "oh I wanna kiss you all of the time".

He's also the one that said "I'm not sure I wanna stop" when Quinn said they're not making a good job in stopping those secret meetings. When Quinn said "if neither of us wants to stop they I guess..." and she seemed nervous about even suggesting it, still he completed with "we're dating?" , but he didn't look put off, he said it smiling, which feed my headcanon that he really wanted her from before the bench, he looked hopeful when he asked it (does that count as him asking her to be his gf?), so another first move.

Hanging out:

Mark:

Maybe it's because Mark is just... boring? but he doesn't seem to enjoy spending time with Quinn, most of the times we see them together, she is making experiments with him or dragging him around. Sometimes I felt like he enjoyed hanging with her friends more than her. He definitely seemed happier hanging with his own friends than her. I don't remember seeing them on a date besides their first, which he didn't know was a date, or actively seeking alone time with her.

He was always like "I guess" to her suggestions and efforts to being a normal couple.

But again, it seemed to be just with Quinn, he liked hanging out with Brooke and is seen on a date with her. He is still as boring as he was with Quinn, since Brooke left him because of that, but he seemed more into it with her. In one episode he showed more interest in Brooke than he ever did in two seasons with Quinn. And that made me feel so sad for Quinn.

That same episode random extras or minor characters showed more interest in Quinn than Mark in two seasons. What's worth noting is that Quinn didn't care about the attention she received for other boys, she wanted Mark to react like that. She cares about those things if it's coming from the boy she loves, and she would never get it from Mark.

Logan:

Before dating, despite still being a bit of an asshole towards her, Logan seemed fine with hanging out with Quinn, on the last season they became friendlier (again, despite him being still an ass), and post kiss he loved spending time with her, they were always finding moments to be together and alone, enjoying each other's company.

this scene was so fucking cute, while their friends were hanging out, they found a little hidden corner where they could keep kissing and be together:

When it comes to dates, Quinn didn't really demanded or asked him to, she said she wished they could have dates like normal couples do. And what I love of this scene is that his reaction wasn't "ugh, okay" or "I guess...", instead his reaction was more like (for me) "I'm just happy being with you wherever we are, but if you want more, we can totally do more" and he immediately thought up a solution, a place where he could take her and he even seemed excited about it (with how quickly he came up with it, I bet he has thought about it before too, getting her wined and dined and all that)

On the date he was as happy as Quinn to be there, and as annoyed when it was interrupted. Logan is the type to boast his wealth and stuff, but I don't think that was his motivation to take her there, I think he wanted to give her the best date possible, he wanted it to be special (if the theories are true, that might be the case too when it comes to their wedding, but that's for another point)

15 years later, he still clings to her and looks as happy to be around her as he was then.

"I Love You"

another immense difference between the too.

Mark:

Like I said, I don't remember him ever saying those three words to her. But wherever he said it or not, I don't think he did. I genuinely don't think he loved her. I'm not saying he didn't hold any emotional affection towards her, he just wasn't in love.

The way he broke up with her once he had the opportunity to be with another girl (thought I believe Quinn mentioned he had been acting weird for 15 days, so he might have been cheating on her for that long or less) is very telling. Like I know Mark is emotionless, that's his trait, but even then, he didn't seem sad at all about the break up.

And when she tried to get him back he rejected her quickly, making it clear he just didn't want that, even telling her how he felt about Brooke, and it's worth noting he never described Quinn like that, never said they had a connection or something, because they didn't, it was a very one-sided relationship.

Not wanting to kiss your girlfriend of two years until she starts bothering you about it is very telling to. Like I know aromantic/asexual people exist, but I doubt he had the same treatment with Brooke.

And honestly, despite the cheating, I felt bad for Mark, he seemed exhausted by that relationship. Like I said, Quinn was always dragging him around and experimenting with him. Plus, she was clingy, something that just didn't resonate with him (which makes me wonder: if him and Stacey are still together how did that worked out? since she is clingier than Quinn). I understand him leaving as soon as he could, it was a bad relationship for both.

Logan:

Like you pointed out, Logan was the first to say "I love you", and he did it publicly, he screamed it at the top of his lungs in front of a crowd, to her. But the first time he said it was to Stacey, and I really love his response to "why don't you want to kiss me" wasn't him telling her he didn't like her (which obviously he didn't), what came naturally to him was "because I love Quinn!", and it's so cute because he said in on accident, so it was the truth, that was his main reason that het slip, he doesn't want to kiss another girl because Quinn is the one he loves, the only one he wants to kiss from now on.

It was such a grand and meaningful gesture, a huge contrast to her previous relationship. This boy, unlike Mark, loves her so much he doesn't want to be with anyone else, he doesn't want to keep hiding their relationship, not if that means having to pretend to be interested in someone else, I love how he confirmed it again, with no regrets despite the guy behind him asking judgmentally "you love Quinn", like as soon as the words came out of his mouth he realized it was not worth hiding it, it didn't matter anymore if people were going to judge him (and for someone like Logan that's a huge step).

It was a very beautiful scene, it not only showed his love for her was bigger than his concern of what people would think, bigger than his ego, in a more subtle way it also showed he rather deal with that than being disloyal to her, even if it's just pretending, and that says a lot of how how different he is as a boyfriend.

I also do believe on that headcanon that he loved her (or at the very least was crushing on her) before the bench scene, just in denial.

And it's kinda funny, how Mark seemed inoffensive yet he cheated and Logan was seen as the womanizer, yet he was loyal to Quinn.

Quinn's Jealousy Issues:

Many years ago I read the take that Quinn didn't love Logan as much because she wasn't jealous like with Mark, and I honestly disagree.

I believe jealousy roots from insecurities, and Quinn is a very confident girl, so I get why people wouldn't agree her jealousy stems from that, but hear me out.

Like it was mentioned above, Mark wasn't very affectionate and didn't seem interested in Quinn, maybe he thought she didn't need it, but for someone like Quinn, who is constantly seeking romantic gestures and cuddlings/kisses/just any kind of intimacy, it's clear she does. I found it interesting how she knew how many days he had been acting weird, it showed she is attentive to details, she notices and cares for those things. I know it could be attributed to just a quirky thing of hers, but I don't think it is.

I think Mark's lack of, well, participation on the relationship did affect her confidence on their relationship and herself, so that's where her jealousy comes from, she's a smart girl, deep down she must've known he wasn't as into her as she was into him, so she feared someone would take him away (and she was right!), I think her jealousy came from the insecurities the one-sided aspect of that relationship. It was also his poor communication skills, he was always like "yea... I guess... uh..."

With Logan though, she seemed chiller about it. She still got jealous about him taking "make out Mandy" to prom, but I think that was it. It was just, like, normal jealousy, for lack of better words. And I think that's for how attentive Logan was, he showed his interest constantly, he was affectionate, he cared, their relationship was built on good communication, he made her feel wanted and loved, something she didn't feel with Mark, it's hard to feel wanted and loved when someone doesn't want you nor love you.

She didn't have to drag Logan along or force him to show his love, he came to her and he was doing all that willingly, like you said he made the first moves from the bench scene, stopping to confort her and staying despite being told by her to leave was the first move.

Telling her what he really think of her was a first move too, I just can't stress enough how special it is to me that Logan was the only one that said he prefers her as herself.

Ever from the bench scene he rebuilds her confidence, and he does it by just loving her and showing her with his actions and words, not on purpose, he just does it, he just loves her so much he can't help letting her know. And I think that's why Quinn is not as jealous with Logan, because she doesn't have to fear someone taking him away, not when he's clinging to her side and when she is on a healthy relationship based on reciprocate love and good communications.

Overall, Logan not only loved Quinn, he also liked her, and had no problem letting her know that.

Jealousy from their part:

There's not much to say about Mark here, so I'll just jump to Logan.

The "well, he's not [Quinn's boyfriend] anymore!" scene and him not letting her invite the shirtless guy to prom may not be the only times we've seen him jealous. If we take into consideration that he might have been into Quinn before the bench kiss, we can see his treatment of Mark in a different light. Like we all know Logan was a jerk, but he seemed to specially dislike Mark, making fun of him, not caring at all if he was injured/injuring himself (I really wish I had a gif or at least a pic of when he threw that frisbie at Mark, you can see in his face he did that on purpose and enjoy it), like he generally disliked him.

I do believe he was jealous, and seemed to calm down once he had Quinn.

The Relationship:

I'll make this point short because it's basically repeating what I already said.

Quinn-Mark relationship was one-sided, with Quinn doing most of the emotional and physical labor, Mark either reacted to her or was forced to reciprocate, but rarely even initiated intimacy, they had poor communication skills from his part. Overall, he wasn't into it as she was.

Quinn-Logan relationship was fully reciprocated, with Logan doing as much emotional and physical labor, he willingly spend time with her, showed affection and love, meeting Quinn's expectations and both parts communicated perfectly, working as a team to solucionate any problem they may have. Overall, Logan was an active part of the relationship and was very much into it an her, just as much as Quinn.

TL;DR: In a shocking turn of events, Logan turned out to be the most boyfriend material of the cast. The boyfriend Quinn dreamed of.

now, to answer the rest of the ask.

I also hope Logan got carried away on the thrill of giving Quinn the perfect wedding, making their day as especial as possible.

I love love love that you wrote "Logan is finally seeing that knowing someone before just making out with them makes you want them more" because yes! this is new for him too, this is his first relationship and it was so cute how he was like "alright, I love this, I'm never letting go" (don't even bring up that "they break up at least once" hc, I refuse to believe it, let me live in denial)

I also hope they're not just background comic relief, I hope they treat this beautiful ship with the respect it deserves, hope they don't forget they're the most loved couple for a reason and actually the reason why 90% of ppl will be watching that movie

"Oops" Episode Rambles

I rewatched the episode for the sake of my rewrite post (plus I just wanted to see the final animation, credit where it's due, the show is fun to look at sometimes), and decided to share my thoughts since I haven't done that for an episode in a while:

Ngl, I'm honestly really indifferent towards Fizzmodeus, like I get that it's most people's positive for this episode but I honestly just don't care about it. I think it's because I'm so jaded to the 99% of dialogue that's sex-related to enjoy the sentimental stuff but also because it's just Bee and Vortex again, and it begs the question of why the shit Stolas' situation is so special (aside from him being Vivzie's baby) when the Sins just do whatever and either hide it poorly or don't hide it at all. Who came up with this hierarchy in the first place? Because the more we go on the more it seems like a thing that only Goetians focus on (which Ozzie should be apart of so what the fuck).

Speaking of Ozzie, I don't get why he's so nice, same with Bee. I'm not asking for everyone to be a shithead 24/7 but the concept of Hell's leaders, the ones who've created and are enabling the world of kill-or-be-killed that we've seen, being 100% friendly is just odd to me. Then again, Viv's idea of Hell is a nonstop party where they're all good unlike the EVIL BAD TOTALLY NOT GOOD angels and Adam so it doesn't surprise me. Also his whole thing about "Lust shouldn't be forced". Um? I'd get it if he were talking about LOVE, but Lust is not something I'd ever consider to be consensual in nature, especially not in Hell. That's all I'll say on the matter because it's a very serious topic, but then again, maybe I should consider myself lucky a topic that dark isn't being butchered by Vivzie. All of that said, I do like Ozzie's voice actor, he's really nice-sounding.

I don't understand what the hell happened with Fizz and Blitzo. Who the fuck was going around saying that Blitzo didn't wanna see Fizz and didn't tell Fizz that Blitzo showed up? I have to assume it was maybe Barbie or Cash (assuming Cash didn't also die in the fire). If it was Barbie I'm not entirely sure why. As far as we're aware (unless they retcon it in later) Barbie shouldn't have seen Blitzo knocking into the cake or leaving Fizz, so if she did it because their mom died, I can't see how she would know that. Maybe someone saw Blitzo and passed that on to Barbie, but the fact of the matter is I shouldn't have to Tetris-style guess and insert explanations for the episode. If any episode was going to be a full on backstory, it should've been this one, not The Circus, especially with Unhappy Campers being before this one.

On a positive note, I think those little fly-dog things are so cute in a kinda ugly way. I do think it's kind of a nice small look into Fizz's mind that he'd have one that's wheelchair-bound because he'd relate to it. Ozzie patching up Fizz was nice too, as much as I don't care for the couple, I'm glad that Fizzmodeus at leasts SHOWS the shit that Stolitz doesn't. And speaking of Stolitz, yeah Blitzo keep telling me all these things Stolas TOTALLY does for you yeah I'm sooooooo sure

And, like other people have said, Stolas was totally pointless and useless like always, and what a nice cool guy who totally isn't bad like the other Goetia when he let that lawyer guy get brutally murdered, like yeah I guess it wasn't really his place to help or anything but I don't think having him smirk and say "Get fucked, little one" is doing him any favors. I do have to wonder if they're actually gonna go through with this Crystal shit. I'm not gonna bother guessing anymore because like I said before, the show will throw a biggest, goofiest curveball at you to try and seem less predictable.

And speaking of curveballs, Crimson and Striker. That's it. That's all I gotta say on that subject. I miss Harvest Moon Festival, man. Like I'm no Striker fangirl who buys all the Striker merch and shit but damn he's so pathetic now. Why did Blitzo have to recreate the shit that happened and shoot the barrel when he could've shot Striker in the face while he was talking? Please, I need someone else on the writing team PLEASE

I am blaming you (in a good way) for my current rewatch of season 1 warrior nun. But I had forgotten how good season 1 is! I’m seeing little details I missed before and call backs they do in season 2, what a fun time! Thanks you!

even i am guilty of saying things like oh yeah the pacing is a little off in season one but the truth is that im LYING the only reason the pacing is “off” is because these days every has to start too fast & build too fast bc we only get one season! or two! we don’t get to know if the story can stretch & breathe & warrior nun did it ANYWAY. they were like whoa fuck a girl comes back to life…… she’s gonna try & be happy & see what happiness n life means to her . & im digging my nails into the soft of my palms n staring wide-eyed at the screen because who hasn’t come out the other side of something—maybe not literal death but maybe the death of a relationship, or figuring out smth about urself like being queer, or the end of an era like highschool or university—who hasn’t come out the other side & thought but who am i? what makes me happy? is that a question that deserves to be answered? & ava tells us that’s THE question. what is life! what is living! what is it like to touch sand for the first time? to get hurt for the first time (in years)? to lay on your back in the wet sand & stare up at the sky & feel More than anything connected to the world bc she spent 12 years in a box but now the roof has been torn away & beyond the ceiling there has been a sky full of stars & the world tilts on its axis spinning fast & faster breathless with the want to show us all of the billions of stars!! what is it like to eat strawberries—to have a handsome boy make breakfast for you, to shove red sweet tangy fruit into your mouth until it overflows spills over your lips, what is it like to feed yourself, cutlery clumsy in your hands but eager, so you scoop up anything you can hold in your fingers and bring it to your mouth—what about silky sheets and hot showers and basking in the sunlight what about making friends what about letting a beautiful girl pull a dress over your head, pinning it, what about the same beautiful girl apologising for being snarky & holding herself at a distance bc it’s not always easy to trust, what about the beautiful girl making smth for you, adjusting smth for YOU to make you beautiful too for one night, what about dancing? & when you know what things feel like you can start to understand the too muchness of light is sweet but it burns your skin, the too muchness of vodka is rough against your throat and you don’t like it as much as gin, you like to make people laugh you like to watch girls lose their practised poise & laugh you like the feeling of someone’s body against yours like this but not like that, you like most of all to feel safe to feel like you understand to be alive so when the danger comes again you know a little more about yourself & the world & theres another kind of experience, a voice you wanna listen to & it’s yours & you discover that you want to know & understand & help people, it’s just that one of those people was you & that had to come first

The Defense of Steven Universe’s (OG Show) Ending

(This is basically a post where I put everything I said in a large Twitter thread so it’s more easily readable, with maybe a few changes and additions.

Spoilers BTW)

So I’ve been drawing a lot of stuff lately and in doing so, I’ve been rewatching a lot of old shows I used to watch and finishing whatever I missed out on. Steven Universe was an interesting one, as I recall having some form of obsession with it as a kid on Google+, however I barely remembered watching a lot of it or if I even watched it on TV or on websites like Kisscartoon. And after doing so,

I barely see the hate for it that it’s gotten for years.

It has its flaws, and issues that have plagued the show outside of what’s within it, but it’s no doubt memorable with a great cast of characters and very unique and fascinating lore and story telling. Now, I don’t wanna really get into a whole deep dive review on the whole show, as even though I’ve made a couple of essays lately (mainly on Sonic the Hedgehog), I don’t think I’m that experienced to go over an entire 5 seasons explaining each and every episode’s strengths and weaknesses and allat (though maybe I might discuss the amazing character development of each crystal gem in the future, who knows?), rather I want to discuss something that is partially why I started watching this show again: The Ending - Change Your Mind (S5E29).

Now, the ending is understandably mixed, I understand the critiques of it being weird and anticlimactic and all and how it doesn’t feel like the diamonds’ actions on gem history was fully acknowledged and been punished for it. I completely get the criticism here and I don’t want to drive away people from making actual critiques on the show and where it could’ve improved upon.

What I mainly want to focus on is the notion that the ending can be summed up to, “Steven forgave Gem Hitler”

That is very incorrect.

See, the whole reason why White Diamond (the “Gem Hitler”) was involved with the story was because after Steven was able to prove to Blue and Yellow Diamond that he’s Pink Diamond, he takes the opportunity to use their stronger powers to restore one of the corrupted gems (Centipede). This works…for a moment, as they’re only restored once all 3 put their healing powers to use, but upon letting go of the gem, they reform back into their corrupted version. With Steven technically being part of the Diamond Authroity, he thinks maybe he can take advantage of his position to be able to speak to White Diamond, the highest gem in the patriarchy, and convince her to come to Earth to help the corrupted gems.

Throughout these last episodes, it’s clear this is all for a demand to help gems that were stuck on Earth. While Steven wanted to just try and talk to White, and convinced Blue and Yellow to express how they feel about how White has handled their civilization, there’s never a point where he’s all like “look inside your heart, please you have so much good in you I can feel it” or whatever. Considering how he had to fuse with the Crystal Gems and team up with others who showed up to be able to fight her mech and barely reach to the top of it to meet her, this whole plan wasn’t really as pacifist as many have made it out to be.

Sorry to stray off a little but, funny thing is, as much as people make fun of Steven Universe for being a show where characters just talk their feelings out and suddenly everything is good, they acknowledge in one of the episodes that not every gem has this deep trauma or pain they try to hold in.

In the episode, “Stuck Together” he and Lars get caught by Aquamarine and Topaz, they both open up to each other about how no matter what happens, they got each other. This leads Topaz who throughout her introduction has been mute and serious and who has them held hostage, to start crying and vent about how much emotional pain she’s been holding in so much because it’s her job. When Aquamarine finds out she’s trying to help them escape, they desperately start trying to convince her that she’s allowed to open up about whatever she feels, that they’re here to listen and talk.

This is was her reaction.

And I have yet to watch Future right now, but from what I’m reading, even after a lot has changed since the original show and tons of gems live peacefully with Beach City, she shows up again to get her revenge.

At no point is she ever redeemed in any way.

Anyways, the only reason why Steven was able to convince White to do something to corrupted gems on Earth was because he bested her and she couldn’t do anything about it.

Her whole ordeal was how she wants to have this flawless world where nothing goes out of line, even if it means having to mind control them so they act just like her. She views herself as being the perfect gem of all time who knows what’s best for everyone. However, due to how she’s acted with Steven, being an adult gem constantly picking on a literal child because she refuses to accept he’s not Pink Diamond or is part human; how it’s all just a disguise and Pink Diamond is just lying to herself, she’s embarrassed and realizes she indeed does have a flaw. She’s shaken up with guilt over how petty and childish she’s been acting, being exactly what she’s been criticizing Pink Diamond, to the point where she questions who she is. If she’s not this flawless perfect gem who knows what’s best, then what is she? What should she be since throughout her whole life she’s been obsessed with perfection? She can’t be leader of a whole gem civilization trying to make everyone flawless if she herself is flawed. What further solidified it was how she was unable to control Pink Steven no matter how much she tried, and once she started blushing and feeling embarrassed, she lost control on the other gems she had brainwashed. Blue and Yellow even react in disgust/fear seeing her become “off-color” due to her blush, basically for a moment them losing respect for her.

Steven goes up to her and tries to tell her to just, let people be who they are, without trying to “fix” them, and maybe she can be whoever she wants to be. White is still in distraught, wanting to be someone who knows better, be better, and wanting to make everything better, which Steven offers her a way to do so (which is coming to Earth to help the corrupted gems), but first needing to leave your own head - literally and figuratively.

At no point throughout the ending is White crying about trauma or begging for forgiveness to Steven and having him go “it’s ok we all make mistakes 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰”, all that happens is Steven sees her essentially having an identity crisis now that she cracked and realized she isn’t as perfect as she thought she was, and being the good natured kid he is, offers to show her how she can be a better person, taking the opportunity to make her do what he set out to demand from her. To say they should’ve shattered her would’ve defeated the whole point as to why Steven even went back to Homeworld to begin with, cuz he needed White’s help. Plus, still haven’t watched Future but,

There is a scene where Steven actually attempts to SHATTER White Diamond upon taking control of her body for everything she has done to him, he CLEARLY doesn’t find her to be in the clear of everything she’s done.

TL;DR They can’t just shatter her cuz she’s the big bad villain, the whole point of the final episodes was Steven needing her in order to restore all the corrupted gems they’ve saved throughout the show. No matter what it took, he was going to find a way to do it. While I do agree that there could’ve been better acknowledgment on everything that she’s done to Homeworld and all, same goes for Blue and Yellow, as they’re immediately relegated to out of touch aunts, to make the massive stretch that this is supposed to be Steven forgiving Hitler or proof that Rebecca Sugar (a Jewish person) is a Nazi apologist…come on bro.

EDIT: I really recommend btw watching this video I recently just viewed discussing the show’s ending and really diving in about the topic of Steven’s identity and White’s identity. It’s informative summarizing a lot of what’s been hinted at and led up to the final episode and goes over stuff I could never even attempt to bring to light with how amateurish I am at this sorta junk 💀

And even if with everything being said, you still believe in the notion that “Steven forgave Gen Hitler” or whatever, I’m about to bring up an argument so earth shattering that it will make you re-evaluate everything you know about the show. So, here it goes:

Listen, I know it’s very cliche to use the, “it’s a kids show it’s not that deep!!” argument or whatever idiots say to avoid people from discussing further about their favorite things, especially in an era where many are pushing the “Animation is Cinema” phrase and proving its not just kiddie shit only babies like, but what I mean is

At what point is it crossing the line when making comparisons from a thing in fiction to something in real life?

What makes a great story is how it’s able to draw connections to realistic issues or problems many face with unique metaphors and analogies and all of that, Steven Universe is no different. However, at what point are the metaphors or references to real life supposed to stop? At what point does it become stretching really hard? I can understand how people have had ideas that “fusion is a metaphor for sex” or whatever to some degree.

But going as far as to compare this obviously over the top dictator to the world’s worst man to have ever lived on planet earth who is responsible for the death of millions just because he so happens to also be a dictator, doesn’t that seem so…psychotic to even try to relate when it’s obvious that was never the intention? I mean look at this whole world of the show, it’s a futuristic jewelry space civilization filled with advanced technology and bright colors, how do you look at all of this and first thing that comes to mind is Nazi Germany? How do you look at a giant voluptuous white woman who’s existed for millenniums and think “yea that’s Hitler right there”, all because she’s simply a textbook definition of a dictator?

Trying to make her whole country this flawless world where no one goes out of line and disallows any form of diversity? Like any typical villain? Is that really all it takes to be considered as “animated Hitler”?

Does that mean the abandoned flawed gems in the abandoned Kindergarten that Steven and Lars met at the very bottom of Homeworld are supposed to be a reference to Anne Frank’s family hiding from nazis? One would say that’s a massive stretch to make and they’d be right, cuz it is…just like what people say about White Diamond.

These kinds of massive stretches and comparisons have been made in the past constantly, and for what? To gang up on a show that just wanted to teach kids the values of showing love and positivity, being there for your friends and families and trying to accept people’s flaws or differences in how they live? To make excuses to be blatantly anti-semetic towards the Jewish person who created this show? All because over shit like the fanbase was infamous at one point for how they treated each other and the show producers or because the ending wasn’t how many wanted it to be or how it debatably pushes the idea of positivity way too much in places where it shouldn’t try to?

At what point do people who criticize this show for it’s apparent farfetched ideologies of being kind to everyone, start sounding farfetched themselves for making these insane leaps in logic to make a blatantly slanderous argument and label on the show? If something like “White Diamond is supposed to be Gem Hitler” is something many easily gave into believing, what kind of fucked up comparisons would people make next about the entirety of Homeworld or gems as a species till these start to sound like psychotic conspiracy theories?

Steven Universe is no doubt a flawed show, I won’t deny that, will never deny that. As much as I defend the ending and go against how people have slandered the show, I can admit stuff could’ve been done better. However, like I’ve said at the beginning, I fail to see how all the hate the show’s gotten for years has ever been deserved or warrented. It’s clear that even with its flaws in storytelling, pacing, (sometimes animation), there is still so much to love about this show. It’s characters, it’s music, it’s themes, it’s lore, etc. There’s good reason as to why people love and still fondly remember it and consider it to be just as important as the other shows that brought in this renaissance era for Cartoon Network (Gumball, Regular Show, and Adventure Time).

After all, just like what the ending taught people, things aren’t always going to be perfect, and that’s ok. Flaws make things what they are, and unless said flaws actively have negative effects on things, there’s no reason to fight against them so excruciatingly. We may strive hard for perfection and flawlessness, to be considered perfect or for a thing we like to be considered perfect, but at some point, trying to do so much just to achieve said perfection will down the road start to become an issue and affect ourselves and the ones around us, the ones we love.

When you think about it, a lot of what has happened within the fanbase and the critics of the show mimic similar attitude to White Diamond. This want for perfection, for nothing to be going out of line, but all it’s done is damage the show’s reputation to many.

Fans on here long ago harassing an artist for the way they drew one of the characters of the show as she wasn’t in this “perfect” body shape they wanted her in. Or harassing producers of the show for how they’d handle things like (iirc) Lapis and Peridot’s “relationship” because it didn’t match their “perfect” connection between the two, and more.

On the other side, critics like the infamous Lily Orchard blasting the show for not being this “perfectly” told story and going out of her way to make these insane comparisons to have some leverage in this giant attack on the show and what it stands for.

These wild and out of pocket attempts to make everything perfect for the show, and what has it done? It heavily soured how people view the show, making people want to stay away from getting into it as from the POV of the outside looking in, it’s a whole rabbit hole they probably shouldn’t get into…for their sake of their mental health. This mindset to be caught up in selfish outlandish views of what’s deemed as being perfect has only made things worse for everyone on every side of discussion on this show. And while as of lately things seem to be recovering, as more people are giving the show a second chance and realizing how messed up people like Lily Orchard were, still the effects of what happened back in the mid-late 2010s are noticeable in some areas.

If it gets to a point where we’re fighting a flaw that barely affects anyone, is it really a flaw that is that important or even a flaw at all to begin with? We can strive to be better people and learn from mistakes, but a perfect person who can do no wrong is just impossible.

Flaws are what help make everything feel unique in it’s own right. That’s not to say some flaws can’t be acknowledged and called out, but as for flaws that sum up to “someone/something is different from what I expected”, it seems over the top to go so hard to fight against it, as we’d be fighting against having diversity among each and every one of us.

If every pork-chop were perfect, we wouldn’t have hot dogs.
