➼Character: Fire Finn (Finn Mertens)

➼Synopsis: Fire Finn headcanons about distracting him in a fight during the Elemental special.

➼With the fire citizens heading for the Candy Kingdom it's up to you and Lsp to try and de-escalate the situation, mainly with you trying to defeat Flame Princess's newest champion while Lsp retrieves the jewel from Princess Bubblegum.

➼"Are you sure you can handle him? I mean he already beat you once, it’s like a more intense version of Finn... It’s lumpin hot." Lsp mutters as the two of you scout the area.

"Yeah, we just gotta improvise a bit. At least knock him off his sense until I use my secret weapon and defeat his hot headed butt for good!"

"You sound way too eager about this. But no dude you got it all wrong! the real Finn is still in there somewhere you just gotta play into his hero heart ya know? pull one of those 'I know the real you is in there somewhere' kind of speech."

It's hard not to roll your eyes at Lsp's dramatics, but if she's trying to tell you to solve things pacifically first, then sure why not. Like don’t get me wrong, of course saving Finn is a priority but knowing this prick fire version of him, it’s gonna take more than heartily speeches to subdue him.

"By all means, be my guest."

➼It goes as expected, Fire Finn just walks past her spewing something about war drums and threatens to slice her down if she tries to stop him. This is where you come in.

➼You're the only one who can confront Fire Finn either cause you're physically strong enough to match him in a fight or you have the mental fortitude to deal with the stuff he'll say in hopes of saving him.

➼Like, the guy was pulled in and created in a toxic and violent environment so that leads me to believe he's bound to say some hurtful things and make fun of you with low hanging fruit. For example, if you're a gal (or female presenting) he'll spew some misogynic comments about how he's biologically stronger "You don't stand a chance against me, I'm all hardcore muscle." or "You'll regret leaving your sewing room this morning."

➼If not, he'll still boast about how he's stronger than you and will wipe your face on the dirt.

➼Uses insults too. Mainly stuff like: nerd, loser, mouth breather, girlie, wimp, roach, useless scum, motherless bastard, to think of a few.

➼I don't know if he'll fight honorably (since the other fighters have kinda roman gladiator inspired designs) or fight dirty, but now that I think about it he'll most likely do the latter. He'll kick you in the shins and throw sand at your eyes, that's how he gets the upper hand when fighting you.

➼Dominant, ruthless and a huge show off. Overtime he gets too cocky.

"You're too much of a wimp, I bet I can beat you with nothing but my hands."

➼To mock you further he kicks away your bag and your main weapon but not without stabbing his own sword into the ground before approaching you with cracked knuckles, wrestling you into the ground as he continues to belittle you- albeit with suggestive undertones. "Once we're done with these candy nerds they'll be nothing left but cinders and ash. Maybe then I'll take you back to the fire kingdom as my personal training dummy... All for myself~"

➼You don't know if you're reading too much into this whole fight, but It's now that the physical contact makes sense. He tightens his hold on you, purposely grabbing you where you're most sensitive (that would make you blush any other day) before tossing you around like a sack of potatoes, the pain is real but it started giving you an idea.

➼If there's one mistake he's actively making it's that he's completely underestimated you and your brain power that compensates your lack of extra brawn to beat him on a one on one.

➼"Oh woo is me, you're obviously the better opponent. Might as well start getting used to serving you as you deserve." you cry out, causing Fire Finn to quirk a nonexistent eyebrow. He grips your hair by the back of your head, purposely raising you to his eye level.

➼"And how would you start serving me?" He asks, suspicious of your change of attitude but quickly allured by the promise of servitude.

➼You momentarily lick your lips, it's subtle but hypes you up for what's to come. "Like this," and you lean forward to kiss the fire elemental on the lips completely unprompted. It's a risky move, and considering Fire Finn isn't returning the kiss you're 90% certain that he's gonna slap or throw you away but the second you attempt to remove yourself from him he instead tightens his hold on your hair and pushes you back into his eager mouth, opening it up as his tongue dwells all around yours in unexpected wanton. You try your best to reprocitate but he's completely controlling in this situation as well, now holding your face with both hands as he gives you the sloppiest kiss you've ever had.

➼Underestimating how sharp his teeth are, you cut your tongue on it and has you groaning at the unpleasant metallic taste in your mouth, fidgeting in the spot as you try to pull yourself from his hold but it only served to rile him up further, running his tongue over the wound.

He eventually pulls you away to catch his breath, completely devouring your breaths as you exhale to take in the fresh air.

➼His reaction is more enthusiastic than you expected. In fact it's his crazed expression that ultimately snapped you out of your foggy daze, immediately taking advantage of his unguarded walls and you kick him where he counts.

➼Now he's the one falling like a sack of potatoes.

➼You suddenly rush to your discarded backpack as you hear him shout angrily behind you.

"YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT! I WILL MAKE IT TORTUROUS FOR YOU! I WON'T REMOVE MY HANDS FROM YOU UNTIL YOUR WAILING AND BEGGING FOR RELEASE BY THE TIP OF MY SWORD!"

➼There's no time to ponder what kind of punishment he's talking about since he's immediately back on his feet and just a few steps away from you, but the second you grab your hidden weapon it's over for this fire elemental. You pull out a plastic water gun and spray it all over Fire Finn, watching him shout in agony as he steps back as you blast him into submission until he lays beaten on the ground. "This is why you need a safe word my dude." You finally spew a well deserved taunt.

➼And to make matters worse and more humiliating for the fire kin, you snap a fireproof collar around his neck, courtesy of Wizard Betty.

"What is this contraption?!"

"It's a little something from a friend, a temporary solution until we find out how to turn you back to normal."

➼With a sigh, you sit back as you watch the fallen warrior attempt to rip out the collar only for it's safety mechanism to activate and spray him with cool water, like one of those automatic car window things.

"I DEMAND YOU RELEASE ME!!"

"You're not in a spot to make demands my dude, so unless you wanna turn into a popsicle you'll have to follow me." You eventually stand up with a more nonchalant attitude compared to earlier, still wincing a bit since your safety now doesn't take away that Fire Finn pulled a heavy number on you.

"I'LL KILL YOU!" He threatens, but the collar activated again before he could lay his blue hands on your neck.

"Maybe, if you say please~?"

"DIE!"

Just binged the whole series. It is all IMMACULATE and (among many other things about the series) your voice acting is fucking incredible!! Any tips for someone who wants to get better with doing different voices?

Aw, thank you so much!!! I really appreciate that. As for voice acting...

(Apologies in advance, I'm using my own terminology for how I think of voices here to describe as well as I can)

This will vary depending on your voice, but I find I have "speaking spaces"--high and low, front and back (feminine voices are usually more in front, masculine in back). So you've got front-high, front-low, back-high, back-low, and then up in your nose (for nasally voices). Work with kind of shifting into these five spaces, and you'll be amazed at the range you can attain! Then, just work on pitching up and down *within* those spaces, and you'll get an even greater variety.

For example, Rose, the ants, the default human, and Violet are all front-high--Rose is the lowest, default human higher, the ants are higher still, and Violet is highest. Sophodra and Commander Vera are front-low, with Vera being lower than Soph. Mundle (the fly), and Harvey (Rose's dad) are both back-high, and Gregorsa is back-low (and then I pitch him down in Audacity even more). Lieutenant Mobia is high, but kind of midway between front and back--I start front, then pull back. This avoids the vibration I usually get from starting in back. (An upcoming weevil and future mosquito will be nasal.)

And yeah, pay close attention to the vibration (that is, whether you can feel a voice really making your vocal cords reverberate)! It makes a very big difference in the way a voice sounds. Sophodra is high-low and has a lot of vibration (she's close to back); Vera is low-low and has very little vibration (closer to front). Rose, Mobia, the default human, and Violet are low vibration, the ants are medium vibration. All the back voices are high vibration.

The way your character thinks about the world also makes a huge difference. You can use what is physically the same voice and make two characters sound completely distinct. Like, what emotions a character expresses (do they seem fearful? snooty? caring?), or how fast or slow a character talks.

There's also accent. Even little regional things! Rose says "sure" quickly like "sher," but Sophodra says it more like a smooth, luxurious "shew-ore."

Finally, it's worth thinking about a character's vocabulary. Not just whether they use big or small words, but the kinds of phrases and wording that will pop to the front of a given character's head. Non-confrontational phrasing, maybe, or phrasing that gets a point across faster. What are your character's priorities when communicating? If you can tell your characters apart even when they're written down, you've got good characterization, and that will carry over to making the voices unique. (Of course, this only applies if you're also doing writing, or allowed to improvise.)

Thinking about the Willy Wonka Experience thing, and I think they probably could have got away with it if they'd been less stingy with the sweets. I'm not saying it would ever have been good. Clearly the aim was to cut every possible corner and put in the bare minimum amount of effort to make off with as much money as possible, but there's a line between "this was shoddy, over-priced and disappointing," and "this was a scam and enough people are so angry that the police have to be called".

The AI-generated script, the lack of effects, the terrible set dressing - those were never going to be fixed without the organisers actually giving a damn, but they could have bought a pile of cheap chocolate to give out. The articles I've read talk about the actors rationing the jellybeans and still running out, even though the event closed early, but the organisers must have known how many advanced tickets had been sold. They could have bought a load of sweets so that everyone could have a couple of chocolate bars, a lollypop, a chocolate coin, and the handful of jelly beans. It probably would have only come out to a couple of quid per person when bought in bulk, still nowhere near to being worth the entrance cost, but at least people would have felt they got something for their money.

People were expecting a chocolate fountain and you can buy a cheap one of those for less than the cost of a single person's ticket. And sure, that's not counting the cost of the chocolate, but you could get a load of cheap chocolate, a bunch of wooden kebab skewers, and a pile of marshmallows, and for a cost of about 50p per person, they could have given kids the experience of sticking a marshmallow on a stick, putting it in the fountain, and getting to eat it.

With some unfortunate actor doing their best to improvise a fun time with no resources, this could have added a whole five minutes to the way-too-short experience.

Clearly it was always going to be terrible, but if the organisers had just brought in a load of chocolate bars, it could have achieved the level of badness where people just leave a one star review and tell their friends never to go, rather than become a story that makes major news. There might have been a few stories in the local paper about how it was a terrible event and the attendees all said it was bad, but it wouldn't be spoken of outside of the immediate area.

And that makes me wonder how many other events like this are going to be out there that we don't hear about because they're just terrible instead of so terrible it becomes funny to talk about it. There are bound to be other people trying to pull off something like this again, using AI for the marketing and scripts, but we're probably not going to hear about most of them because the organisers will have learned from this one and know to put in just enough effort to cross the bare minimum threshold to be considered a bad event rather than an outright scam.

THIS BOY SHOULD HAVE NOT RECOVERED THAT EASILY. Not to mention his throat's insides b u r n t to a crisp. Just from a food burn a person takes a few days to recover and feel relief in their throat. Jotaro's throat got BURNED inside and out. He can't have talked and ate that easily after that incident and I will die on the hill that jotaro's wounds still severely affect during and after sdc. I just believe that an episode to show Jotaro healing like something as simple as jotaro not talking as much as his throat got burnt really itches me.

not mention Jotaro's love to excessively bleed and hack up blood from his mouth, see exhibit 2:

(ok ^^^ this one looks worse because of the blood already in his shoulder, which i noticed gets hurt a lot aswell. And a gash that deep would cause shoulder pains, a large patchy scar and skin tissue)

sorry for the weird shot, but here's another shoulder wound for good measure. Jotaro here will get a scar similar to ones like a laceration scar around his shoulder, this may be more visible and straight, looking at how deep Anubis Polnareff hit it

oh and mouth bleeding in the same episode wow! get some rest tall child!

Talking about mouth bleeding, since Anubis Chariot got to stab Jotaro but that stab was most definitely deeper than it looks. Probably scraped his intestine or smth. And a bandage definitely won't work this time Polpol. The scar here, from what I have seen and researched (little), the scar could become patchy and uneven around that area, it could be lighter in the middle and darker patchy scars surrounding it.

even with the books, he got multiple stab wounds to the chest, and enough to make him bleed. Per the usual scars, but it might be fainter since the books took some damage aswell.

he also got a knife to the head, yes he had protection but hard enough to bleed. Did I mention the stand barrages and multiple broken bones that may had to take weeks or more to heal?

This TEENAGER survived multiple crashes into buildings, roads, signs AND run over and you're telling me he won't have any problems regarding physical health as well? This will require lots of rest and casts during the stages of healing. Not to mention the sever bruises just from this fight. Those bruises will probably take a few days or more to fully go away but it will still be sore and sensitive after that stage of healing.

Oh yea, he s t o p s h i s h e a r t. Do you know how much damage that is?

We can see his eyes losing color, we can see how aggressively he stops his heart and pumps it again. Doing all of that in that small timeframe should cause many problems, and i'm not that smart to name all of it but brain damage is probably one of them ngl. His heart here could be, and is most likely, really damaged and sensitive. This could lead him to having some fatigue and some level of brain damage considering the immediate and drop and lack of blood flow to his brain. There's a chance that an occurrence of light headedness could happen because of brain shenanigans.

For a while there are some minor injuries, just cuts on his face and other than that we got the muscle goop jotaro but Josuke healed him all up along with jotaro who had a thousand holes through him.

AND CRASHED INTO WOOD. I know josuke healed it and all but damn! That must've hurt.

THIS MAN COULDN'T EVEN STAND AFTER THAT AND KIRA SAID IT HIMSELF. HE CAN SEE RIGHT THROUGH JOTARO'S WOUNDS.

most wounds he sustained during that part were bruises and the gunshots he got in the prisoners of love eps. But!! The Whitesnake acid is interesting because I don't think it behaves like normal acid (in which case we would've seen some pretty disturbing wounds 😬) but i'm curious if it would leave wounds, and if so, what type? We know it kills people and IS acidic so...

We also got the "JOLYNE" wound! which would leave a lighter versions of the cuts most likely in the shape of cut :), nice way to remember your daughter and feel close to her. How do I know it will end up like that? I have a knife cut myself :]

yayyyy we throat wound. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT JOTARO COULD TALK THAT CLEARLY. Joot's throat and larynx would be ATLEAST dAMAGEDD and so would his voice. He's scar would also be lighter in color to his skin and wouldn't be as smooth, might stick out a bit in some cases.

and now...the faithful attack that killed jotaro

..the eye split.. now since he's...yea kinda dead..we won't really have a scar for this one. But fret not! We have everyone survived aus so this includes stone ocean. Of course the right eye will go blind and there will be scarring on the face, it may actually not be a straighter line down Jotaro's face because as it heals, some parts are gonna heal better and will lead to unevenness maybe.

❤️ RED HEART — what are three of your oc's positive traits?

Easygoing: Funny little guy who doesn't really have any kinds of serious goals and instead tends to live in the moment and enjoy it as much as he can.

Quick-thinking: Toby's flexibility, talkativity, rately ever making plans mindset and flexibility allow him to react quickly and change his actions, conversation and thoughts to whatever fits the situation better. Also comes up with very original ideas and interesting connections between things.

Actually a good person?: If Tobias does something, he always means something good. He doesn't really ever act on ideas that would negatively impact someone and tends to ignore anger-related feelings and the thoughts they bring. He always wants to do good, because making people happy makes him happy.

🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc's neutral/questionable traits?

Talkative: Toby talks a lot and doesn't mind any kind of conversations, he's fine with both small talk and serious talk and some deep philosophical conversations and all. But boy does he talk a lot, chatty little guy (example). It tends to bring him positive results, but sometimes ppl get soooo annoyed w him. :(

Curious: man looooooves learning new things but also gets into situations(tm) because of it :/

Optimistic: Tobias rarely ever gets pessimistic about anything and usually is the last one to lose hope (if ever loses it), and mostly believes that things will become better. Which is Not a good thing when people need to discuss serious problems with him, and which also makes him somewhat naive.

💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc's negative traits?

People-pleaser: biggest flaw honestly, which is both seen in how many people he tends to help and how his fight or flight reaction tends to be fawn. Would definitely have a better time if he didn't spend so much energy on others, but oughhhhh Toby has so much love and help to give tbh. Also works in a way that Toby's rarely argumentative (unless he has a strong opinion on the subject) which also brings a lot of problems.

Hides his emotions all the time: Toby may look like a happy lil guy bc of all his optimism and all, but that's also bc he tends to hide how he actually feels, sometimes even from people close to him. He was taught not to show emotions as a child bc that is "a sign of weakness", and with all the competivetiness in his social environment during his childhood or how him showing his emotions was treated by others back then really made him always show up as a happy and content guy, even if he's having a really bad time. Of course, that doesn't always work and some people can also tell how he's doing (+ he may also tell them he's not doing well), but, well. If you could actually bottle emotions I'm sure you could fill a whole wine cellar with his emotions.

Disorganized: To-do lists and a calendar are probably the only organized things he does, and he sometime forgets about them, too. While he does not let his soace become physically messy, he still sometimes misplaces things or forgets about different things, and avoids routines because they make him anxious for some reason (which is funny bc he would really benefit from them).

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

KLARA <3 ough she is his everything let's be honest I don't think he would be here without her. They have been together for over a decade and he's always soooo happy to be with her. They definitely complete each other bc of their somewhat different personalities (for example, Klara's preference for planning vs Toby's tendency to improvise), and they just love being w each other and doing literally anything. Toby has never felt this safe, loved, appreciated and accepted with anyone else :')

😊 SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES — what are your oc's career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life?

Toby's general desire is to live the way he wants to live and to be happy about it <3

He doesn't really have career goals and tends to just go with the flow, and usually just ends up being chosen for the jobs he gets simply bc his coworkers have suggested that he should have the role. Sometimes he doesn't even want them but just accepts it bc hey, it's a fun new opportunity that gives his curious mind some enrichment.

🤔 THINKING FACE — what are some of your oc's quirks/mannerisms?

Toby tends to use his hands A Lot when talking, he starts gesturing even in the simplest conversation. He's tried to control it at some point bc some ppl in his childhool made fun of it but failed and then kinda accepted the whole thing. He kinda finds it fun, though, except for that one time when he hit his fingers into the wall bc he didn't notice how close he was standing to it JFJJFKCCKCK

He rarely ever manages to stand still, he's always shifting his weight from one leg or another, or just making little steps while standing in the same spot. He also gladly sits, if possible, bc his legs aren't doing well bc of figure skating :')) Tobias can't sit still either and often sits in the weirdest positions you have ever seen.

One of his "stress symptoms" is biting nails, which he has slowly learned not to do, but still ends up doing it if he's like, very stressed, and doesn't even notice it at first. There are several reasons why he keeps his nails short, but one of them is definitely bc it kinda stops him from biting them.

Tobias also tends to do some light stretches while working or talking or literally doing almost anything. He could literally sit on a meeting and just start tilting his head to the sides, or stretch his hands, for example.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 FAMILY WITH MOTHER, FATHER, SON AND DAUGHTER — how many people are in your oc's immediate family? how many people are in your oc's extended family? do they have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? who in their family are they closest with? are they close with their birth family, or do they have a found family?

Toby counts Klara and their cat as his immidiate family only 😭 I MEAN, he does start to count Oliver as his dad once they meet again, but that happens when he's, like, 40? He hasn't seen the man since he was 6? Sure, Oliver is a very nice person and Toby trusts him a lot, but he's not really That Close, even some of his friends are closer to Tobias :(

He cut ties to his mother and stepfather when he was 17 and hasn't spoken with them ever since, and to be honest would never really want to talk to them again. He does miss his grandparents every now and then, and writes letters to them sometimesz

I'd say Toby is definitely more closer to his "found family"/friends than to his birth family :'))

Thoughts: Fun and Games

Started this last night, accidentally deleted it, got annoyed and went to bed.

Take two.

Yes Stede, the head butt was absolutely on purpose, but not because it was you, rather because a fearsome pirate woke up from a traumatic-on-every-level experience with someone hovering over him, six inches from his face. Ed would have head butted anyone on sheer instinct.

Fascinated by Buttons choosing to check in with Ed about his gravy basket experience, and you can tell Buttons sorta understands that Ed did have a vision, even if Ed doesn't say as much. Also, Buttons has been there a few times himself? Can you get there only through massive physical injury or can you like take a vision quest?

All well and good that the unicorn can't hear without a head, but probably a bigger selling point for Izzy is that it can't talk back

The crew's at a deadlock? Really? They sounded pretty firmly in favor of banishment. Did Stede just want to make sure Izzy got to have a say?

How many takes did they have to do with the sandwich, and was "sammie" scripted or improvised? I need to know.

On a serious note, how Stede's heart must have hurt to see Ed look at him like that

How fucked up and re-traumatizing for Ed to have his lil bunny friend snatched out from under his nose mere seconds after telling it that it would always be safe with him

Did I mention how the costumes keep getting better and better? Minnie Driver looks absolutely spectacular

In Stede's place I would have been scared to death to accept Anne and Mary's dinner invitation, solely on the basis of their predatory grins, but I guess love is stronger than all that

Also stronger than Ed pelting him with backhanded comments all evening

Love the incongruity of Roach talking about reminding the other crew of their value and safety while brandishing a cleaver

Whatever either Stede or Ed was expecting from the evening, it sure wasn't this

"Actually, I was planning on killing him myself" - subtext: still might if sufficiently provoked

Stede's expression when Ed says he regretted shaving his beard - so like his expression when Ed finds him on the beach in Ep9

Taika is so good in this whole scene. The tiny, tiny change in his expression when Stede says he likes his new beard, it's like he's processing that this is happening and willing himself to remain objective. And then Stede asks about the gravy basket and it snaps him back to reality and causes him to turn abrupt/short when he says he's fine. Good stuff.

Not gonna lie, I kinda hate the scene with the pinata and the cake. I get the point, but it feels clunky to me. I do appreciate everyone struggling with the concept of a safe space, lol, and I would love to know what exactly the "fucked up sleeping arrangements" are.

Another costuming note: Lucius is wearing the hell out of those high-waisted trousers.

I personally would not have described Stede as an "artsy outsider," but from Mary's POV I kinda get it, "artsy" sounds a bit derisive, like artsy-fartsy, and outsider sounds like...well, not a pirate. If that's Ed's type, I'd love to know about past outsiders he's been involved with. Likewise, I'm fascinated by Ed calling Stede "fragile" - he's clearly not meaning it as weak, but as fine/delicate. He says it so fondly. :)

Offering relationship advice by saying that everything will be rosy for a while and then eventually, inevitably, it's all going to go to hell and you're going to be left attempting murder to "keep things fresh" is, ah, kind of upsetting. Anne's tactic is upsetting too but at least "let's make them jealous" isn't explicitly violent.

It's really important to me that Roach (along with Fang) is one of the first to try to help Izzy up, same as he was the first to approach Buttons when Karl got killed. He really is tender as hell. :)

In my previous post, I mentioned how Ed still doesn't know that Mary wasn't the whole reason Stede didn't come to the dock - and I want to know, what's going to set off Stede's PTSD? We've seen the crew grappling with theirs and Ed is a walking ball of it. Stede's kinda been skating over everyone else's damage and he hasn't really even touched his own. He says he panicked, and admits he went back to his wife, but the part where he was abducted at gunpoint and nearly murdered is a pretty key part of the narrative. Taking a wild guess that's going to come up when we meet Prince Ricky again. And it's going to lead us into the Season Finale which SHIT I do not want to think about yet.

Others have probably already connected these dots but I'm obsessed with the fact that the blanket that Ed is hiding under so strikingly resembles the Battle Jacket. It should be renamed the Ed Teach is Lovable Jacket.

I just love me some everything about this scene. I love Stede's confidence in making himself heard and I love how throughout their talk Ed comes out from under the blanket, then sits up, then turns toward Stede by degrees, and finally gives that tiny, tiny, sad smile. And the dialogue is beautiful and heartfelt and Rhys and Taika just take it to a wonderful place.

My blood runs cold on Ed and Stede's behalf when Anne and Mary bust in on them, honest to god.

I was honestly not crazy about the whole avian transmogrification thing at first, but the more I've thought about it, the more I like it. Buttons is completely confident in his ability to pull it off and in his reason for doing it - which is, of course, love. His pointing out to Ed that love requires change/growth is just a sweet touch. Was Buttons a "good" first mate? Who knows? Was he a decent human and apparently a legit vessel of magic? I think yes.

Also, if you're going to write a character out of your story, changing them into a bird is a bang-up way to do it. No klutzy off-screen death for Buttons.

Also also, I think it's worth remembering that Zheng uses carrier birds. I predict avian espionage in the future. And no, gulls were not used as carrier birds, but we all know Djenks has been hand-wavy about bigger things.

Izzy...is himself again. Also, loving the casual acknowledgement that there's been at least one other person on the Revenge this whole time who could read :P

My week is going to be insane so I might do Episode 5 tonight and get it out of the way. Thanks for reading!

Prompt: GN!#13 ("You're too perfect for me, you know?") with Suguru Geto

Synopsis: Geto always viewed you as too perfect for him, so he tried to stick to what you said, hoping that maybe that'll make him deserving of you. Sometimes you just have to remind your boyfriend that the both of you are perfect, together.

A/n: Thank you for requesting! Sorry it took so long for me to write this! I know you requested for something "realistic" that aligns with his character, so I assumed that you meant the sweet and pure high school Geto (I did say that's how I'll write him on the masterlist so-). Hope you enjoy this!

Warnings: manga spoilers, Geto being very conflicted in what to do but you're there to help him!, you ask Geto to strip but nothing s3xual happens at all, insecurity if you squint

The world isn't always kind. Geto knew that well enough. Sure, he was a special grade sorcerer, but at what cost? The cost of having to eat curses so that he could use them, manipulate them.

He didn't like that, but what choice did he have? It was his cursed technique, the very thing that made him so powerful. Yet sometimes, he wonders if this cursed technique was called that because it was like a curse upon his body.

And though the world wasn't kind at times, it was the most amazing thing at other times. Geto might have had to suffer and go through all that pain and suffering, but it was worth it… as long as he had you by his side. You, the most precious thing to him, the love of his life, the very thing that keeps him rooted to what he does. And he really couldn't have been more glad to meet you.

Geto still remembers the day he confessed to you. Insecure, scared and overall just afraid of rejection. He had liked you since you joined Jujutsu High, but seeing how many other cool, good looking and amazing students there were, he knew he hardly stood a chance.

Geto walked up to you after training one day as you were headed back to your dorm. He didn't really plan out how he was going to ask you out, but he figured he would improvise along the way.

He watched as you were about to open the door to your room, before calling your name from down the corridor where he was standing. You turned around, and he couldn't help but fall in love with you all over again. You were perfect to him. Too perfect.

"Y/n, I- I like you. You're really too perfect and awesome… but I know you probably like someone else, like Satoru who's, you know, just more powerful and cool. B-But I just wanted to tell you I liked you," Geto said hurriedly, his cheeks flushed.

You smile, before heading over to Geto and cupping his face. "Satoru? He's annoying and childish and most definitely not my type. You, on the other hand, are just what I'm looking for. You're so sweet and kind… and I've liked you for a really long time Suguru…" you confessed, your own cheeks heating up.

Geto smiled before hugging you and asking you to go out with him, which of course, you agreed to.

The next few years were tough. After the Riko Amanai incident, Geto became a shell of himself. He started to question everything, including if he should fight against what the Jujutsu society wanted. Yet, no matter how much he wanted to, he was reminded of you.

Every night after the incident, you would be right next to him, comforting him as you tried to coax him to sleep. A basic thing like sleeping became tough after the whole incident, so you took it upon yourself to help your boyfriend. You often whispered words of encouragement and reassurance, telling Geto that you faith in him to get over what had happened and bounce back even stronger.

Because of that, Geto couldn't bring himself to kill non-sorcerers. After all you had done for him, all the nights you've stayed up accompanying him, all the hope you had that he'll get better and fight alongside you again with the same passion he used to have, he couldn't bring himself to do what he was tempted to do. He couldn't fight for a society with only sorcerers in it, because he knew that your ideals opposed that, and you would likely part ways with him if he did.

The years passed and thanks to all your support, Geto managed to get over the incident. "The past is in the past, and we should just move forward and get stronger from those mistakes we've made," you had told him one night.

And now, he lived by what you said, because your words are what kept him from potentially ruining the world. You were his everything. The light that helped him through the darkest nights. The person he would never fail to return to after each mission, including the one he had just finished.

Pushing open the door to your shared apartment, Geto immediately called your name. He was then greeted by your footsteps running down the hallway and before he knew it, he was being embraced in a tight hug from you. You looked up at him and smiled warmly, instantly making Geto feel less tired and much happier.

After the two of you had a relaxing shower, you cuddled with him on the bed. But not long after, you realised you had forgotten something very important.

"Suguru, strip," you ordered, staring at your boyfriend intently.

"HUH?! WHAT?!"

"I. Said. Strip," you repeated, your voice laced with threat.

Geto didn't know what was going on, but he did so anyway. You immediately started staring at his body intently, before moving closer to him and touching his body all around.

"Baby… what are you doing," Suguru asked as you continued examining his body.

"Checking for injuries," you replied as you moved from checking his neck to his chest. Your hands were warm, he noted. It felt nice and relaxing after coming back from a mission. Yet, he knew that he should stop your extremely thorough check of his body before he froze in your room. The air conditioning was on afterall.

"Baby," he said slowly as he moved away from you a little, causing you to stop checking his body, "I'm fine. I would've told you if I got injured, really. So can I please wear my clothes now?"

You hesitated for a moment. Geto used to hide his scars from you back when you were both in high school, because he thought that you'll view him as weak. You discovered one of his scars by accident when the both of you were sparring one day, and made him promise not to hide his injuries from you anymore. He promised, only on the condition that you wouldn't either. And since then, he never once did hide his scars or bruises.

Recently, you had gotten suspicious though. Geto was sent out on multiple special grade missions, only to come back with zero injuries? Of course you knew your boyfriend was strong, but not sustaining a single injury after 6 special grade missions in a row sounded a little unconvincing. Which was what led you to this sudden examination of his body.

After putting his clothes back on, Geto pulled you onto his lap and cuddled with you. You both basked in the comfortable silence until he asked, "Why did you suddenly do that baby? I thought I promised you that I'll tell you when I get hurt?"

You buried your face in his chest before telling him what you thought. You expected him to be offended that you underestimated his abilities that much, but he only smiled and kissed the top of your head. He told you to look up at him, and once you did, he pressed his lips against yours.

"I know you were worried, baby. But since that incident years ago, I really took what you said to heart. I've gotten stronger now, yeah? And I'm gonna make sure I protect you from anything now that I am. Besides, I wouldn't break my promise with you," Geto whispered after pulling away from the kiss. You smiled and snuggled into his chest, muttering that he's really amazing and powerful now.

"You're too perfect for me, you know?" Geto suddenly said, causing you to jerk your head up to look at him. " You're always looking out for me and taking care of me despite being busy with missions too. And you're so strong baby, a first grade sorcerer who's being considered to be promoted to being a special grade. You're so kind, so cute, so amazing. I don't think I deserve you but I'm so glad to have you in my life."

You frowned slightly, stroking his face gently as you replied, "I'm not too perfect for you Suguru. You're such a gentleman and you're always looking out for me too. Not to mention that you always make sure I'm not overworking myself by bringing me out for dates and making sure I sleep on time. You're strong too, a special grade sorcerer no less. You said it when you first confessed to me too, that I was too perfect. But I think we're a perfect match honestly… So don't say things like I'm too perfect for you. I love you so much Suguru and I'll always be here for you."

Geto started to tear up at that. Maybe it was because deep down inside, he really thought that he didn't deserve you, or maybe it's because he was tired after a long day and your reassurance just made him feel better. Nonetheless, Geto knew that you truly meant what you said, and that's all that mattered.

"I love you too baby," he replied, pressing his forehead against yours.

You smiled, pressing another kiss to Geto's lips, entangling your hand in his long hair. He laughed a little before kissing you more passionately, hand rubbing your back gently.

You both were perfect for each other, two halves that fit perfectly to form one whole.

Modern timeline bits we should have gotten in AC3 but we were robbed:

big city chase scene with diving into buildings and vaulting over cars to ditch pursuers. bonus points if it's in São Paulo, the portion of Manhattan we get is too vertical for a nice free running-heavy segment imo.

speaking of, small scene of the São Paulo assassin team welcoming the group and helping set them up with what they need to get around. (it was said they were moving locations but they never said they were moving away from the city, maybe just different hideouts. i sincerely doubt the brotherhood would let themselves be thrown off a major city like that.)

on the topic of Manhattan, we should have gotten a stealth escape sequence on the way out of the building. we went through a whole thing to jump from one building to the next, there's bound to be enough security to make this interesting.

which means, access to more gear!!! smoke bombs, sound poppers, flashbangs, gun silencers, hell even improvised weapons from office supplies. i know the brotherhood is stretched thin but c'mon!

Desmond finding and releasing more animus project test subjects. He's right in the heart of the whole project and he only walks out with his dad? Nuh-uh, if there are anymore subjects (and knowing Abstergo, there is a very high chance there are), then he's also walking out with them.

an actual, sincere, thesis-lead, fight and then confession with Daniel Cross. those two need to fucking talk more than exchanging a few snide remarks at each other, i am BEGGING.

Desmond! Riding! A MOTORCYCLE!!!! Perfect way to go full circle, the thing that got him caught in the beginning is the thing that saves his hide in a pinch.

access to Bill's emails, as well as Becca's and Shaun's. i don't care if it's sus, this is a brotherhood. they are stretched thin and with windling numbers, but all the more reason to keep in touch and find solidarity and companionship on one another. i wanna hear from the other teams, i wanna know what's going on around the world with them, and i want them to reach out to each other.

BONUS POINTS if Desmond opens up about reading the team's emails back in Monteriggioni and addressing the fact that they basically tried to schedule a dinner out without inviting of thinking about him. among other things too, he was so left behind in the socializing!!

on that note, Desmond gets to talk to his mom. i don't care if it's too dangerous, let him talk to his mom!! if you're gonna make your character feel sorry for refusing the call and regret being away, then make that mean something? hell, let him send her an email at least!

Desmond, Shaun and Becca break time. No Bill, just the three of them catching up and, discussing what happened back in ACB. you kill off one of your biggest side characters and we're supposed to just carry on? i'm not having it, this can't go unaddressed for the audience, it's so cheap. (no that bit from the Juno story hours doesn't count)

Shaun and Becca being more than voices on your ear. We should have gotten a bit of them having the spotlight, maybe infiltrating Abstergo's servers to wreck havoc and cover for Desmond's escape. Maybe even giving us environment cues to use on the fight against Daniel as mentioned above. A sliding door to break a chokehold, or overloading a server to make the power go out to give you an advantage, shit like that!

The team slowly but surely tipping the scales against Bill. Yes, we all know we're in a deadline, things are tense, yadda yadda. They are still people, and you make people overwork for too long, and they break in terrible ways. Desmond should be able to bring a measure of defiance to Bill's iron fist, telling him off often so that Shaun and Becca can catch a breather too, and it helps. Which would be a great way to segue into the Bill rescue mission, it's not what he would have wanted them to do but well, his orders are shit anyway, so let's save his ass.

I love Midst, a lot, already listened to it. And honestly it kind of sucks shit that the whole thing was taken off the internet to be drip fed back to us unless you pay in which case you get it drip fed but in advance, and for what? so some okayish art can be added to a podcast where one of the best parts was the maximalist-minimalist narration which let you form your own cool ideas? Good for the creators getting money I guess but bleah. Glad you and other new people are enjoying it though <3

Interesting point about the art. It's still early to tell, and I'm probably not qualified to judge since I haven't listened to the podcast, but I think the animation is very subtle and not intrusive. It does let me imagine what's being described by words.

Like, one of my favourite parts was introducing and describing a, for lack of a better word, monster, where each narrator describes a different part of it, and builds on what the previous ones have said. That sounded largely improvised, and I LOVED how they didn't fully conform to the "yes, and" improv rule, but they might say something like "well, sort of, not exactly, in fact". Like, it was mostly "yes, and" interspersed with a few "yes but", and I found that AMAZING because I love unreliable narrators.

A picture or animation would mess with that, it would ruin the effect. But there was no picture of the monster, so all was good.

So far, the perhaps-too-revealing images we have are:

the moon, but that's the logo of the series, gotta put something there (and I think it's the original logo, more or less? I'm not sure)

three characters, who so far appear as illustrations on their site and press releases; images attract audiences, it's kind of inevitable

But the art in the video wasn't otherwise too revealing, as far as I could tell. And theoretically, you can listen to it without watching it. I thought the sound (music, effects, mixing, everything) was fantastic.

As for the republishing, yeah, stuff disappears from the internet all the time and it's a problem. We gotta archive everything we want to save. But happily, this isn't disappearing, it's just hiding and appearing again, like a rogue coming out of stealth. :)

You want a Drabble prompt? Here’s one, Zagan thought she’d hang out with Norma she has no idea what to do when the cute girl pledges service?

There's a long, dead silence as Norma casually throws a trussed up angel at the Queen's sarcophagus, dipping into a bow entirely too casual for the situation.

"Your Majesties," she greets.

"What," says the Queen, blinking curiously at her, "did you do?"

"Nothing much. I found this angel skulking around the neutral plane, hooked up some improvised booby traps, hit it in the face with a shovel, then trussed it up with leftover lights from the Christmas in July event." Norma, catching on to the ever-growing confusion, shrugged. "It makes more sense if you've seen the film Home Alone."

"Hated that movie," Temeluches commented, cracking his knuckles. "Thanks for the free info, Norma."

"Sure thing. Mind if I go now?"

"Not at all."

"Thanks." Norma stood, bowed, and exited.

Zagan watched the debacle with a detached sense of stage fright. It was great to see more of Norma. That was kind of why she'd given the teen her number in the first place. But the more time demons hung around humans, the more they were all beginning to realize that humans were batshit insane.

The Queen couldn't exactly turn to look at her, but Zagan saw a yellow eye slowly slide towards her. "What ails you, precious?"

"Reeks of blood," she said, and it wasn't a lie. Zagan rubbed her thumb and forefinger together across the bridge of her nose to keep back a familiar urge.

But her mother was far less understanding about Zagan's wish to respect her friend's space and species preference. "Ah. Go feast, then, dear."

Zagan didn't argue, but she wished she could. Wished she could say, 'she just brought us a huge boon and is injured, and you still can't respect her?' Alas, mother is not someone she can deny.

The vampire found Norma just outside the big doors to her castle, and she found her wrapping her forearm with a steady hand. Zagan set her hand on her hip and laughed a little. "Maybe we should make you our field medic."

Norma smiled tightly. "Standard procedure for working at Phoenix Parks. If you can do it yourself, you don't go to the hospital." She jerked her head towards the interrogation likely happening within. "I thought you'd be more interested in that."

"Eugh, I am," she groused. "Mom shooed me away."

She hummed agreement and held out the wound, still half-wrapped. "Snack?"

"You're offering?"

"That's why she sent you out here, isn't it?"

Zagan tsks and slaps her hand away. "Believe it or not, I didn't give you my number for a dine and dash."

"Ah," said Norma, as if she was just remembering. "I don't really know what to do with that. Something tells me my cell phone won't connect to the lower planes."

"You got a scrying pool?"

She stared at her blandly.

"We'll get you a scrying pool," Zagan promised. "Makes it easier to give us reports."

Norma tied off the last bit of gauze and didn't reply.

Zagan leaned awkwardly against the wood door. "This is weird, isn't it?"

"Every social interaction is weird to me," she replied with a shrug. "I don't mind the company."

"I'm sorry," Zagan added, feeling like she should've done it sooner. "For your loss, or whatever. If I'd known... I didn't know. I just thought we were having a fun time."

"We were. It's not your fault the angels aren't what they're cracked up to be." Norma flexed her arm, smiling at the mobility. "That's the whole point of this, isn't it? Revenge?"

"I mean, I just wanted to hang out with a cute girl, but you do you."

It takes Norma a moment to catch up, turning a bright shade of red. Zagan smiled with a hint of fang.

"Wanna grab a bite?" she offered. "There's a diner a floor up that serves food you can probably digest."

Norma pulled her sleeve over the wrappings, and they both could pretend the whole thing was normal and okay. Just two gals being pals instead of comrades at arms. "Sure."

On Homestuck's Character Deaths, Theatre, and the Ultimate Self

I'm listening to the Homestuck Made This World podcast and getting some really cool comparisons between Homestuck and the plays of Shakespeare's time, specifically on how they deal with onstage character death (they play with your expectations and your level of story immersion).

Apparently, in the original King Lear story, Cordelia doesn't die. Shakespeare writes her death into the end of the King Lear play, then has King Lear point at Cordelia's body and insist she isn't dead--which is true, in a way, because the actor isn't dead. (Can't not break that 4th wall when it's there for the breaking.)

Another point of interest comes up in John Webster's tragedy (I think it may be the Duchess of Malfi, but I haven't read it so I can't be sure). In the play, a character gives two men some orders and pistols. The two men betray the character who gave them the guns and shoot him--you watch him fall and think, 'he's dead'--but then the shot character rises back to his feet to tell them, "I was already aware of your betrayal, so I gave you theatre pistols" (paraphrasing here).

That makes me think of how Hussie's Author Character (not to be confused with the actual AUTHOR, capitalized for emphasis) dies in Homestuck. It makes me think about how Gamzee cannot die from Caliborn's gunfire. It makes me think about character deaths that don't stick, and about the subversion of audience expectations in how the story will progress.

It also got me thinking about how the Ultimate Self of a character is immortal through collective character narratives; because it doesn't matter if the individual iterations of the "Actor" dies in different variations of "The Play," the collective character still exists under the same name/actor. No matter how many Dirks die, "Dirk" as an existing character isn't truly dead. Whether existing outside the canon as a character with ongoing fanworks created about him, or existing within the canon's many invisible offshoot timelines and splintered/dead iterations, "Dirk" will be permanently preserved. Of course, the matter of how those disparate chunks come together--and which iteration ends up driving the Ultimate Definition of the Character--is a different story.

I think there's a comparison to be made with how actors will favor certain personality traits over others in their embodied interpretation of their assigned role. Having a different actor for the same character is going to result in two different iterations of the character. But even in day-to-day performances of the same character by the same actor, there are bound to be differences, maybe improvisations. So which iteration holds the Greatest Truth? Is a character the collective whole of all performances? Or is there one performance that went absolutely perfectly?

(This is not to be confused with the Conditional Immortality that comes with Godhood, which indicates that the character's importance is so great that they will not be able to exit canon unless it is with a narratively satisfying death.)

(It makes me sort of curious what John's canon exit would've been like without the Retcon, but maybe the point is that we never get to find that out?

Maybe paradox space rules (i.e. the AUTHOR's Intentions for the story) indicate this was always how Homestuck was supposed to end, and there was no other possible ending.

Or maybe Retcon trumps even paradox physics, and this is John (who is the 2nd person narrator the readers started with) achieving victory over the grueling narrative machine, complete with the AUTHOR's surrender to finally end the story by accepting that it will be fixed in stone in imperfection. (Because sometimes trying to finish a story in a satisfying way for the AUTHOR is a very different thing from what the readers would be satisfied with, or what external time limits force the ending to be. Maybe sometimes a serial creator has to accept that 'this is the ending I can manage at this time, and I don't think I can ask more of myself'.)

Who would win in a fight? Leorio vs Reigen

Substantial answer only

Oh my good friend you don't understand how hard of a time I had coming up with an answer to this question. And darn you for putting substantial and making me explain myself, because I would've overthought this anyways but not typed it all out.

On a base level, I think that both of them are fairly balanced. Neither stands out as "oh he would win 100%" and both have different aspects that would help them win. For this reason I'm going to go through who is better at what aspect and then summarize the final results at the end.

(Also, Reigen showed up today so enjoy them preparing to fight <3)

Physical Strength: Leorio

I will never forgive the 2011 anime for removing the fact that after two weeks of training, Leorio could open the first Zoldyck testing gate by himself (4 tons). Reigen may be muscular from the physical exorcisms he gives, but he in no way can compare to Leorio in this aspect. Not to mention that Leorio was able to send Ging flying out of his seat with a punch in season 6 as well.

Endurance: Leorio

This is another easy win for Leorio. Sure we see both of them run out of breath at some point during their anime, but Reigen wanted to stop at the beginning of his training with Mob on a 5k marathon while Leorio stopped after 5 hours of running, or 60km. Not counting the fact that Leorio continued shortly after that and then continued to run through Swindlers Swamp, even after Reigen's training that he shows off in season 3, he still doesn't compare to Leorio's endurance.

Mental Capability: Reigen

Leorio has been shown to be easily fooled by others, especially during the hunter exam when challenged by the quizzing lady, Leroute, and Tonpa. Meanwhile, Reigen is an expert at manipulating people with his words. I believe that Reigen could easily confuse/manipulate Leorio enough to give himself the upper advantage in a fight. Too add onto this aspect, Leorio is also working on becoming a doctor, looking to help people instead of harm them. While he still shows no problem hurting people (Ging), I believe he would still show a bit more restraint compared to Reigen who has no qualms hurting opponents and is more ambiguous with his morals (such as telling Mob not to hurt people and then going off and hurting people himself).

Technique: Reigen

Reigen has fought strong espers, or at least caught them off guard enough to land a punch even without being powerful himself. He has the skill to maneuver situations easily no matter who he is dealing with. Leorio's nen would not give him any advantage against Reigen because of this, especially since we only know of his punch which Reigen would likely be able to avoid and easily counter. While Leorio can fineness a rapidly-changing situation (the Yorknew Hotel scene. There was no prior discussion of him pretending to talk on the phone to give hints to Gon and Killua, meaning that he likely improvised the whole thing), he is mainly shown to go at things full force without much thought. In this aspect, Reigen would outperform Leorio in fighting technique, likely due to him having more overall experience (such as his claim of having a green belt in Shaolin kung-fu).

Trap Card: Mob

If all goes south for Reigen, he does have a trap card up his sleeve that Leorio doesn't have. If Mob saw Reigen getting beat up, he wouldn't hesitate to save his master. No matter the method, I think we all know Mob would eventually win over Leorio, and by association Reigen would too.

Conclusion: I believe Reigen would win in a fight against Leorio

While Leorio has the physical advantage, I think that Reigen's experience and skills would allow him to overpower Leorio. However, in a brute rush Leorio would have the upper hand. Another factor that would heavily sway the fight would be their motivations for this battle. I based my conclusion on an even playing field, but if this was happening in a situation like the hunter exam, then Leorio would have more motivation to win. In a situation where Reigen's status or dignity was on the line and loosing would mean a lot more to him than Leorio? Reigen would definitely go all out. Both of these men are very motivation driven for situations that benefit them, and I think that if they did not see any benefit or reason for fighting then they would not try hard at all. But, all in all, removing all outside influences (including Mob) my vote would be on Reigen beating Leorio in a fight.

Just a little qsmp discourse post, I've been thinking about it for a while and I just wanna share something.

I agree that everyone should have their own interpretations of characters and you don't need to keep up with EVERY pov to say what you think about a character, but I do think that people should be a lot more kinder with the interpretations they have of characters in general.

This comes mainly from seeing people talking badly about characters (the latest one qWilbur, but I've seen it time and time again, with characters I enjoy and characters I don't). This always ends up with people having more context for a character's actions than others, and others making a big judgement without seeing the whole picture, or people who actually try to listen and understand a character's motives but are still upset about it.

I do think disagreeing or even disliking characters is fair, I mean, I do dislike some characters, but ALL of them have motives and explanations for why they do what they do, and also ALL of them have done questionable things to eachother.

The thing is, if I try to, I can create a horrible narrative for EVERY character (I'm not joking, I'm pretty sure I can) where they are manipulative, self-centered, selfish, hypocritical... but telling everyone: ''This character is SO evil because of this specific one thing he did one time to my favourite character!!!'' when that was a cc having fun, or maybe a slip up etc, kinda kills the fun for the ccs. Something I feel some people not take into account is that this is minecraft improvised roleplay, where at the same time creators are meeting eachother and just playing and having fun.

Yes, lighthearted moments where people are joking around kind of are lore, but sometimes, ccs just wanna have fun. This happens a lot with qRoier, where obviously his joking attitude is integrated into the lore and his character is actually joking about a lot of stuff, but like, for example, him enjoying mines is like 90% the cc wanting to have fun, not his characters actually not giving a fuck about killing the eggs (just an example of some takes I've seen). Even though if we think about what he is doing realistically, it wouldn't be an absurd assumption to make that he doesn't care. Now, I think it should be interpreted as what it is,,, Roier enjoying and having fun in the server. What I mean to say is, is this lore? Yes it is, qRoier canonically enjoys mines. But also, are we going to overanalyze this and make assumptions on his character and actually apply real-life logic into how we interpret every interactions he has? I would say that's too much, and makes the server an only roleplaying server where creators can't just fuck around and have fun.

I will say to be clear, if someone wished to bring things into their interpretation of the character that are little details like these and make it a headcanon for themselves, thats completely fair! But that's not actually canon unless the ccs decides to make it canon, and it is important to make that distinction in my opinion.

Btw I chose the qRoier example beacuse I think it wasn't a very big deal (at least in my tl) but I do not mean to create or re-open a whole debate about his morality then if it was big, I am just using him as an example. And also I say this because multiple ccs have complained on some way or another about feeling a bit overwhelmed/upset with this kind of thing. Cellbit and Baghera complained about people misinterpreting their characters and projecting into canon things they didn't mean to do, and Roier has complained (albeit a bit jokingly) that things are too heavy and people are too intense with the lore.

Honestly if this didn't bother the ccs I would tell most people that even though I dislike what I see as mischaracterizations, you can go crazy lmao, but if it makes them not be able to enjoy roleplaying as much and being in general on the server, then yknow... It could be cool if we could find a way to criticize or say what we think about characters in a more contructive way that adjusts to the ccs' vision.

This is an introductory post.

Hi everyone! I'm Melody.

I'm an anonymous writer (unless you know me already), usually posting all, if not, most of my works on Tumblr and also then on Tik-Tok; I like the simple format of the dark theme and the account header of my posts on Tumblr and use the platform to swiftly screenshot and upload them with accompanying music on Tik-Tok.

I'm sure there's an easier way to do it all solely on Tik-Tok- but I like this way, and it seems easy enough for me, and unique enough that I can call it my own.

The content I produce is mostly Free Verse poetry. It all started with a simple writing exercise I made up called "A Month of Emotions." Essentially, I write a poem every day, usually about my feelings or some form of event that happened that day. I give that poem title, and then at the end of the month, I mash all the titles together and post that altogether as another poem, entitled "A Month of Emotions"

That poem will be coming very soon.

Now, you may look back at my archive and be like, "Melody, you didn't post every day for a month," or "there are poems in you Tumblr archive that aren't on tiktok."

Those are both true. As to the first point, the original exercise began as a way for me to accomplish 2 things:

1. To start writing more

And 2. To practice feeling, expressing, and confidently affirming my emotions. To enhance my emotional range. Even the "bad ones" i.e sadness, loneliness, grief, anger, hatred, etc.

With both these 2 goals in mind- I think while yes, not posting *every day* for a whole month is a failure of the arbitrary "challenge" I believe I got what I needed from it, and the original exercise evolved into something a bit bigger than itself.

I also believe that in the spirit of "A Month of Emotions" the "skipped" days also speaks to the emotions and feelings of that day. Whether it was burn-out, or an overwhelming experience that took me more than a day to process into words, I believe it true to exercise still, and in the entitled poem, "A Month of Emotion" I think they'll be implemented as a doubled space between lines.

As to the second point:

I didn't intend to begin posting on Tik-Tok, but then I just did and that started me off on the platform beyond just being a lurker, liking posts, saving to my faves, etc.

I won't delve too much into my personal life, but I will share some fun tidbits.

I've enjoyed writing in some form for a long while. I distinctly remember a moment in freshman year where I told myself that I wanted to become a writer. Back then, I used the word "author" as the intention was to write stories in book form. Maybe some day I will, but I'm transmuted my definition of storytelling across multiple mediums.

Nowadays, I write poems, as you can tell. I also work every now and then on writing a long-running D&D campaign. It's just the skeletal structure of a campaign, as to avoid strictly railroading players into an inevitable rigid story.

To me, D&D is an improvisational collaborative storytelling exercise, with sprinkled in game mechanics and rules to help broadly give things stakes and to introduce a little luck...

To me, it's less of a "game" strictly speaking, and more like when a group of musicians get together and jam out randomly and create a song.

In this case, I just haven't gotten a group of people together to play it with me as a DM. I do have a group, but I'm in as a player for their stories and we've been at a capacity between campaigns. As mine is much more long form, I'm patiently waiting until it's my turn to start spinning the webs of story.

Earlier, I mentioned music and very much purposefully too! I played in band since 4th grade, picking up the saxophone. I still have my ol' instrument. She sits in her case in my closet. There's a part of her that's broken, making it nearly impossible to play correctly, and I just haven't had the funds to fix her since after senior year.

After senior year, though, I still practiced and even studied music. Using keyboards and piano, I went to college learning about the music industry.

Things got crazy, money got tight, a job I had became too demanding of my time, and for other troubled reasons, I also wasn't doing too well in school and lost passion and interest and finally stopped going.

Then after I switched jobs and things were looking a bit better and I was just barely able to start school again- the pandemic happened, I lost the job I had going for me, and it seemed pointless to start school when the whole world looked like it was burning down.

But now, finally, after years and years, I might be able to start going again soon.

So much has changed since then. I originally had aspirations to develop music for video games.

I still enjoy music very much, it means so much to me and is very important as well.

Who knows? Maybe I could finally run the DnD campaign that I've written as a passion project, jotting down the adventures of me and my players in a more final form, creating that story.

Maybe I can share that, get with an animator and voice actors, and create a series? Maybe I could make the music for that! Or maybe the story could be spun into an action rpg like video game, work with indie developers, and do that!

A younger version of myself would think all of that above is dreaming too big- but as I mature and grow older, the more I begin realizing none of that is impossible. In fact, even if it is just a hobby now, with practice, passion, and effort, it all seems very achievable!

I think that's enough for now. I encourage everyone to take a deep breath, drink water, and continue dreaming. I'll be back with my poems soon! Thank you. 🤗
