Wingman pt. 1

Suguru and Gojo are besties of course. Suguru has kind of been in a slump lately, and Gojo has a new girly. This will be series, there will be a twist next chapter and I'm very excited to see how long I can drag it out

Are you sure?" Geto said. "Yes I'm sure I've been thinking about this for like a week now." replied Gojo. "Okay, because you were sure about that last one too." Geto chuckled. "Yeah but this one is different she's sweet, and smart and funny and smokin' hot!" Gojo said, as they sat down at their table. They were at a small cafe in the city, waiting for a third person to arrive. Satoru had been telling Suguru he wanted him to meet his new love interest, before he officially asked her to be his girlfriend. Suguru had been putting it off, because after the last girl Satoru had brought around he needed a break. She was rude, shallow and she didn't want Gojo around anyone but her.

Gojo claimed this new girl was great and Geto didn’t believe him, but he missed hanging out with his bestie, so he figured meeting her was worth the risk. “Okay she just texted that she’s parking, please be nice!” Gojo’s eyes lit up like a kid. “I will… unless she gives me a reason not to.” Geto was fine with playing nice, but some girl was not going to keep him from his bestie AGAIN. He liked being with Gojo it made him feel lighter. As he read over the menu a gentle breeze blew on the patio where they sat. “ I think I’ll go for something iced it’s a little warm out today.” Gojo said eyeing all the fruity drinks. Geto rolled his eyes. "You just want something sweet!" he thought, but for some reason when he thought it, it came out in a woman's voice. A very pretty woman's voice too. He looked up confused, and soon realized why.

A very pretty woman stood next to the table. She was dressed in a nice green short- sleeved dress that hugged her shape, but didn't show too much. She was shorter than both him, and Gojo with hair the same length as his, but a little lighter in color and much curlier. She was curvy and her face was one he wouldn't forget easily. "Baby you're here!" Gojo stood up in a hurry, hugging her and swinging her back and forth, making the bag she had on almost smack Geto in the face. "I'm here!" she laughed as Gojo finally calmed down and set her down. She turned to Suguru, "You must be Geto! Satoru talks about you all the time!" He stood and reached out for her hand. "Yeah" he chuckled, "good things I hope!" "Oh I'm a hugger, I hope you don't mind," she said as she leaned in with open arms. And Suguru didn't, because as he leaned toward her he was welcomed with a sweet scent that reminded him of a laid-back summer relaxing in a field of flowers.

They both sat down, and he found himself feeling hopeful about this new girl. They ordered their drinks, and made small talk as they waited. By the time they got their orders, they were all laughing together and sharing funny stories about their lives. "If you fellas will excuse me for a second that drink went right through me I'm gonna head to the ladies room really quick." she said. "Take your time sweetheart you look great walking in that dress." Gojo winked, as she giggled and walked away. "So what do you think???" Gojo said excitedly as soon as she was out of earshot. "I think you actually might not be a total idiot. She seems nice." Geto said. "And super hot right?" Gojo said looking at Geto over his shades, and grinning like the pervert he was. "She is pretty." Suguru chuckled. "Would you date her?" Geto said as he leaned in like it was a secret. "What? Why does it matter?" Suguru laughed, leaning back confused. "Because! You're my bestie, the only person anywhere near as great or powerful as I am, and I really value your input here," Geto said. Suguru leaned back to his original position and sighed, "I would" and ignored Gojo leaning in a bit closer. "YESS! Finally!!" Gojo exclaimed, but before Geto could ask why he was so excited, she was back from the restroom.

"You boys just win the lottery?" she laughed walking up. It wasn't hard at all to hear Gojo when he was excited. "I sure did and the winning ticket had your face on it!” Gojo said pulling her chair closer when she sat down. “Yeah, yeah I bet you’ve used that one on Nanami, and the others a few times.” She retorted laughing and rolling her eyes. Geto gazed at the two with what he assumed happiness felt like. She really was pretty, funny too. He just hoped he could keep this happy feeling. Here with his bestie he didn’t feel so lonely anymore. Gojo’s new interest was being nice, and he actually wouldn’t mind her being around while they hung out. As he headed home later, Geto still felt lighter. He walked into his place, and didn’t feel like he was descending into gloom. He sat around for a while, meditated, then got a text.

Gojo: Thank you for coming today I’m really glad you guys hit it off it’ll make this all ALOT easier. :D

Geto: no problem I needed to get out and we haven’t hung in a while.

Gojo: I missed you too bestie ;(

Geto: lol whatever

Gojo: let’s hang out Thursday! I wanna see you againnnnn!!!! We can all cuddle on the couch and eat snacks!! ;*

Geto: lol sounds, good goodnight.

Gojo: goodnight!!!<3

Geto laughed to himself as he got ready for bed, Gojo was always so goofy. Gojo’s couch was definitely big enough for the three of them to fit, but he’d likely be off to the side while Gojo got all the cuddling action. Maybe his girlfriend won’t even come, I doubt she wants to hear more of our stories. Would she?

volume ix thoughts wooooo we're out of casa

first off, return of a legend: the beach hut

i was fully expecting the compatibility test to be more like the season 1 compatibility test with the zodiacs because that's fun but i guess that's less of a pot stirrer than a fun game to have. though the narrator poking fun at it i guess is making fun of the fandom for thinking it was gonna be horoscopes 🤣

so very obvious ass test though especially with the two answers only about the two guys you're pursuing, which I think is a missed opportunity to throw more lore about the guys in there. or at least make it not as obvious? really goes to show how surface level the characters are compared to, say, the Mr. and Mrs. Challenge towards the end of S2

I'm going for Jin and Max rn so I thought it was funny their personalities were boiled down to "funny" vs "extroverted" and my MC had to pick between the two as if they were mutually exclusive

anyway just nearly got Jin lmao

I'd like them to stop with the Claudia/Theo storyline because it feels like they've already decided they're done with each other and are ready to move on? However, Claudia being compatible with Theo on paper but like not really feeling it is an interesting idea. Like she feels she's got no other option to stay safe except for him and they like each other enough. Meanwhile Bea's settling for Liam because he's shown any interest in her at all. (Let them date each other if MC can't! They deserve better!!)

also I know that I joked about Theo being just some mildly attractive white guy to fawn over and settle for but the way that Claudia is just settling for him? actually upsetting like I'm so sorry, Theo 😟 I didn't mean it I thought he was fine after the first dates 😖

anyway the compatibility thing still doesn't make the most sense because like,,, why did all the guys get the Villa girls and none of the casa girls? I just think we should stir up some shit. I know it's annoying but it is the perfect opportunity to try to make Emel angry at Oakley again by saying he's most compatible with some casa girl. And she can show growth by not getting upset this time.

idk why but Kyle's poem to Emel is giving wannabe rap crew vibes (i.e. I'm missing S1 I'll take what I can get). Also, Claudia said he's giving game player vibes?? I'm actually so upset with how the LI's are all interchangeable because simply this cannot be the same Kyle y'all are fawning over (it's not 😭)

I'm kind of curious what it's like replaying on a straight route bc personally my heart hurts every time they show Claudia's little sad face but like I have to talk to Max it just makes more sense because MC can't couple with Claudia in stick or twist

Close your eyes and pick at random is actually hilarious as an option for stick or twist and I almost did it

i've already said my piece about Sienna, I love her design. I will admit though, her open mouth smile is a little stilted but people get botox so... not out of the ordinary lol. The bigger problem is how her hand on her hip is a little fucked up (color in between the lines, fusebox!)

as someone not on a Theo route, I really don't understand why he's sticking with Claudia unless he's got some personal turmoil he's working through and trying to actually reform his player ways. And I wish MC could talk to him as a friend and we'd see that. like in the way S2, you get to know Rocco's insecurity about never finishing university and Gary's anxiety even if you aren't on their routes

Anyway I'm still upset at the forcing MC to couple because she's single thing. They could've still had her coupled with Jin (or even with Hari it would work) and then she can either walk in single or with a casa boy. And then she's the main character: just say that the single islanders don't get dumped post casa (like it's SUPPOSED to be) because in that situation, she's the only one! Or if you need the numbers to be right, literally Emel is right there. She can come back to Oakley later if anything

still not the best stick or twist could've gone in terms of drama (or maybe that's just bc I've been looking at spoilers), but compared to S5-6, not too bad (I assume also s7 but tbh I did stop right at stick or twist for that season)

So fyi when I played Casa, I had my MC go for Shawn most of it, and then last minute switched to Max because I remembered she's a musician and I thought that would be cute. That being said, I wish it was like in the too hot to handle game where you unlock certain dialogue if you happen to have something in common with a character. Because why is Max explaining music stuff to my musician MC?

is Hari not an LI? Because they made him seem like one and then just all of a sudden we're not talking about him, it's only about Jin and Casa Boy. And I'm fine with not all the boys being LIs, but it is odd the way he's just shoved to the side in the story

Okay so I'm writing this as I'm playing and it seems like maybe he is. They just forget to mention him most of the time.

Hari and Hazel are a hot couple though. like I don't love Hari's design but like if he was drawn better?? I see it.

the swimming game is a fun idea but imagining everyone splashing around to get to MC is so funny. like I can hear it in my head and it's not the best game, but for the fictional game in the app it's fine.

although why tf is Theo suddenly interested in MC? I haven't been romancing him at all but for the chat at the pool I couldn't decide between any of the characters I'm actually kind of interested in so I had MC go talk to Theo and then he was also flirting? then the pool game he also thinks MC has the best chat?? sir I barely know you

omg not emel deflecting the drama to Claudia (and it's about her hookup with MC???) oof this is the drama I crave I think we're gonna need a movie night soon

so not too bad yet I just hope these storylines can come through!!

List the facts on why Frozen isn't great!!! I think it still counts as nostalgia!!!

Okay so I'm gonna preface this by saying I don't mind Frozen. I think it's a fine movie, and I really liked it when it came out. However, after every viewing of it I like the film a little less. Call it aging, call it obsession, call it high expectations, but I don't think it is great in any capacity for these reasons (please don't hate me for these):

For a movie that is meant to be about The Snow Queen, it wastes the original story. Elsa could've easily been the antagonist she was originally written to be while also being redeemed in the end. Keep everything to do with their parents, but give her anger; give her resentment. After years of holding on to keeping her powers hidden, and seeing the angry and scared faces of her citizens when she finally breaks, make her anrgy. Then there would be REAL stakes in Anna going up the mountain by herself to talk Elsa into unfreezing the city; make Anna slightly afraid of her and you've made it even more satisfactory when they reunite in the end.

Anna. Lord do I not like the way Anna was written. She's like if Rapunzel's personality was cranked up 100% and made boy crazy. If I'd written Anna, I'd have kept her sense of humor, but thrown away the adorkable bullshit. Make her funny, rough around the edges, desperate for affection, and slightly resent Elsa due to the perceived favoritism of their parents. These are two sisters who should dislike each other in the beginning while also missing what they once had.

Kristoff and Anna's relationship takes up too much time in the movie that could've gone to Elsa and/or her and Anna's relationship. If the message of the movie is that romantic love isn't the only kind of love we should seek, then why in the world is there a song, and almost marriage sequence, about Anna and Kristoff getting together after having known each other for only a day or two? I mean, Kristoff's only point in the movie is to help Anna up the mountain, and that's all he really does for the plot. (Besides introducing her to the trolls but honestly their whole point is to just say "ice in the head not great, but ice in the heart bad" so remove or rework them too)

I actually like Hans' role in the story, but he didn't have to be a twist villian. It could've been foreshadowed early on that he only wanted Anna for her potential power, and his betrayal would've been even more impactul because we would've seen as the movie went on how much Anna wanted to be loved.

Now this might just be me nitpicking, but the setting design is just sooo . . . I'll just say I've seen better castles and towns in Barbie movies. I mean, if you had the choice, would you rather go to Arendel's castle or the Beast's Castle? Plus the character design is also not great. We've all seen that post pointing out that Elsa, Anna, and their mother all look identical with their barely there noses and round heads.

My final point, bringing back my issue with wasting the source material, is that in the original story a girl goes on a quest to get her friend back from the ice queen, despite him having turned into an angry, bitter, and mean person. She believed he was still the person she loved under that magic, and she risked her life to get him back. That is not the story Frozen tells because Elsa is rarely shown to have those ugly emotions.

I was laying in Lo'aks arms cuddling for the whole night. It was currently about 11am and I was struggling to sleep with all of this information about Lo'ak. He's spiderman?

"Lo'ak?" I asked while I sat up, "yea? What's wrong?" He asked in confusion. 

"H-how did u become a spider?" He started laughing at me while I looked at him with even more confusion, "babe I'm not a spider" he said laughing even harder. 

"Wait what? But you're spider-man? So you're a spider? Right?" He was still laughing right in my face, "no I'm not a spider!" 

"Well then what the fuck are you? A man…? A spider mixed with a man…? An alien…? Maybe… a robot? I'm actually so confused…"

"I'm a man" he said sarcastically while showing off his muscles, "no but like forreal? What are you?" 

"I'm just a person, like you, just… different I guess" I was still very confused, "but how do u have spider powers?" I fully sat up next to him laying my head on his shoulder, "do u wanna know the full story?" He asked, "yes. I wanna know everything."

"Damn Lo'ak calm down, it's not like we're gonna 'be late' for a haunted house in the woods" aonung said as he was running behind lo'ak, "bro I swear calm down or I'm never doing anything with u ever again" lo'ak started slowing down after he said that, "why do u even wanna go to that shit hole anyway?" Aonung asked.

"No reason, I just thought it was funny" aonung stopped walking and looked at him, "funny? It's pitch-black, it's 1.30am in the morning, and the chance is huge that we're gonna die." 

"And u said I was scared? Nahhh" lo'ak said as they continued walking, "come on! Don't be a wuss!" 

They arrived at the house in the middle of the woods, "bro this shit look creepy" aonung said as he backed away from the house, "yea aint no way i'm going in there" he said as he backed away even more, "come on bro, it'll be fun" 

"Nope. i stand by my decision, i ain't going in'' Lo'ak started laughing at him, "fine then i'll go by myself" he said as he slowly walked in the house, "yea no i'm not gonna stay hour here all alone, i'll come with you!" Aonung screamed as he followed him. 

Before the boys could even open the door, it flew open because of the wind, and started cracking. They jumped away and aonung let out a scream "AHHH-" Lo’ak started laughing at him, "you scream like a little girl. Do you miss your mommy and daddy?" he said with a sad look on his face. "Just shut up and go in already" aonung said as he pushed lo’ak in the house. 

The windows were broken. There's not even one source of light. Insects everywhere. It wasn't really your typical dreamhouse. 

"Can we get outta here? It's like I'm walking on the North Pole" aonung said as he rubbed his body with his arms. "Nahh let's just look around a little" they started walking around in the house, but what Lo'ak didn't notice was the spider crawling up on his pants towards his arms. 

And then. It bit him

"OH FUCK WHATS THAT!" he screamed as he started wiggling his arms to get the spider off. "Bro calm down what happened" aonung said as he turned to him, "SOME SPIDER BIT ME. AND IT WAS BLUE AND RED, THAT DOESNT EXIST AONUNG." 

"Okay? Well if it doesn't exist, then it's not there" he said in a bitchy voice. 

"Aonung this isn't fucking funny. My body bro, I'm starting to feel his venom course through my entire body" he said as he started shaking his arms and legs even more. 

"I hope you die because the venom lo'ak."

"Wait so aonung knew about all of this before me?" I said, I'm disappointed. Aonung. The boy that bullied lo'ak. Knows about this before me?

"Y/n please just don't be mad. I really wanted to tell you, so that's what I did" he layed his hand on my head playing with my hairs, "when did it happen?" I asked

"Uhm… about 2 months ag-" 

"TWO FUCKING MONTHS AGO?" I jumped up from the bed, "y/n please. I couldn't tell yo-"

"Yea, yea u can't tell me because you were trying to protect me. Blah. Blah. Blah. I don't care" I said as I backed away from the bed slowly. 

Loak stood up from the bed trying to get closer to me. "Baby I did try to protect you. You don't get it. Please listen to me" he grabbed my shoulders trying to make me look at him. "No no no you don't get it.. Y-you lied to me for 2 months… you told aonung before before me. The boy that bullied you for months…"

"Y/n the only reason he knows was because he was with me when it happened. Trust me" he looked right into my eyes, "w-why would you even go with him? Out of everyone! Why him?! Why didn't you text me?" I said as tears started forming in my eyes. 

"I just wanted to bond with him, so that we could start to be friends. And I didn't text you because it was 1.30am, and I didn't wanna bother you" bother me? Why would he think he would bother me if he asks me if he wants to hang out? Does he really know me that bad. 

"Get out of my room Lo'ak." Tears started flowing down my eyes, and it almost looked liked the same thing was happening with him, "baby please let's talk about this." 

"No. No. Get out." I said as I pointed at the door. He looked to the ground with tears falling down his cheeks, and walked out of my room.

what are your thoughts on the hsmtmts finale? I found it to be so disappointing :/

oh, I have so many thoughts.

first, let me preface this by saying I'm both a Portwell and a Rina. I really liked Rina's dynamic in season 1 when they first introduced it and I was here for it until they threw in Portwell. And then the narrative kind of told me Gina isn't Ricky's number one choice/priority but she is EJ's number one priority, andshe wasn't even a choice to him! She was the only person he was even thinking about at the point. I ate that shit up. They were so cute together and their relationship was built on such a great friendship. But I did also like seeing Ricky pining over Gina and realizing his feelings for her...I just hated that they couldn't just let him wrestle with his feelings for a while, he had to put EJ and Gina's relationship down (and he was kinda weird/rude to EJ at times in order to push the narrative of Rina...idk some quiet, semi-secret pining would've been nice to see). also just in case it isn't already clear...I am an EJ girl first and foremost. Idk why but I just liked him so much from the start of the 1st season for some reason. I also adore Ricky, but he drives me crazy sometimes tbh.

in no particular order, here are my thoughts on the finale:

I'm still in shock that Ricky said "I haven't read the full script yet" on the day of opening night of the show. was that supposed to be funny? cute or something? Why was Gina not mad at all about that? It's also kinda hypocritical of Ricky bc he was telling Jet at the beginning that he needed to practice his lines and show up and be a good Hans for Gina since it's her first lead role and I'm supposed to believe the same Ricky (who is apparently in love with Gina) didn't take the time to read the whole script and at least learn the name of the kingdom for her? Did he never run lines with her or anyone for that matter, have a conversation with anyone about the show, or even show up at rehearsals? I mean I'm pretty sure they would've said Arendelle plenty of times during rehearsals, so I feel like he should've known that.I know it was a small scene but seriously? Is this supposed to make me like Ricky? The narrative is confusing me.

I am so happy Miss Jenn was there! The kids needed her support and it just wouldn't be a finale opening night without her there. I kinda wish Mr Mazzara had shown up too but it's fine, I'm not gonna die on that hill. I thought Miss Jenn would talk to EJ, give him advice and stuff and then tell him what a good job he did at the end but unless I'm crazy or accidentally missed something...she didn't really do that. she was too focused on Nini and forgot about her tallest child

I thought it was a really nice send off for Nini, and I liked that she brought the lottery ticket for Ricky, it was a sweet little reminder of their friendship and how they've grown up together and of their relationship, and it also showed that they've let each other go. Although Ricky did look kinda shook when he heard Nini was there and was really upset over the idea that he didn't get a card from her...but I guess it might've been more bc of their friendship than the romance part. It did make me stop to wonder though, is he truly 100% over her (which I had been certain he was until that moment)

not gonna lie, I'm kind of sad that we didn't get to see any of Jet as Hans. I was actually kind of excited to see that and idk why, so I felt a little let down by that. I mean, we got to see Kourtney's Let It Go moment (which I loved and she sounded so good) and Carlos singing In Summer, which Frankie Rodriguez absolutely nailed and I loved it. But it would've been really interesting to include the Hans/Anna "if only there was somebody who loved you" scene.

loved the conversation between Big Red and Ashlyn. I realized she was feeling awkward bc she was trying to figure out how to tell him about her summer of discovery but for a full minute I was really confused and thinking she was wanting to break up with him/not feeling it with him cause the dialogue was a little confusing and I was like is this for real??? But then Big Red made his little "you're the one for me" confession and they were both happy so phew not a break up. Also, I love that this storyline showed ppl the concept that you can have a crush but that doesn't mean you don't still love your SO/doesn't take away from your feelings for your SO. not sure why they seemed to forget about this as it could've applied to the Portwell/Rina triangle but okay...

I had so much hope built up for a moment where EJ would get to sing his own emotional ballad, fall apart a little and have a moment, even if it was by himself, like the other characters have gotten and I don't know why I ever thought the writers would think to do that...but yeah I kept hoping for it anyway...when he started to walk away from the group huddle right before Everyday I thought he was gonna burst into a banger of a song as he walked away and then Corbin Bleu started singing and I was like oh, okay I guess we're ignoring EJ's feelings. Also the fact that he was so done he was just going to straight up walk away and no one was like "EJ where are you going?" "come back" "we're proud of you EJ" "how about a round of applause for our director" or "EJ are you okay? you look like you're going through it"

I loved the scene where EJ called his dad, I was starting to think they were just ignoring/had forgotten about that plotline so I was glad to see it given its moment. Matt Cornett did SO good in that scene...the emotion was unmatched and I was tearing up. I liked that Val was there and he wasn't having to deal with it alone, but at the same time...where were his friends? Did none of them notice his dad wasn't there? Gina even asked him about his dad whether he was worried about that and she didn't think to check back in with him about it? Also just the fact that he basically said he only felt comfortable having Val there with him...so he had to squeeze in the phone call during the show so she could be with him and didn't feel like any of his close friends from school would provide the support he needed in that moment? Not Gina,not his so-called "brother", not his fucking actual cousin, not a single one of his best friends that he brought to camp to spend time with???? I hated that the show just...jumped over that with no moment for EJ to tell everyone how they've made him feel. He just had to sit there and put on a brave and happy face for them while he was crumbling. And then the fact that his dad straight up hung up on him??? I knew his dad was a douche canoe but damn. That was harsh. It was really nice to see that little moment between him and Val afterwards, where she just kinda held him and he cried a little. It's pretty brutal though that after that, he had to go back to the show, put his Sven costume back on, and go back on stage AND he did it all without having an emotional breakdown. I really thought he was just going to either straight up not go back to the show at that point (although it makes sense, as a final fuck you to Cash, that he went back and finished what he started extremely well and didn't let his dad see that he had really gotten to him).

Corbin Bleu saying "what team?" really made my HSM loving heart happy and 4th grade me was shaking in her boots. I also kinda love the Corbin Bleu redemption arc (even though it's clearly only bc he's going to be in s4 in a more positive capacity). Although I do find it hard to believe that Corbin kicked Channing out, and likely the entire situation was explained to Disney/the doc producers yet they still allowed Channing to edit the documentary??? Also on this topic- am I really to believe they edited, cut, and produced an entire show in 1 month???????

Kristoff Lullaby...at first I liked it, the way they began it with Ricky singing the words but EJ and Gina sharing meaningful stares from opposite sides of the stage. It started out as such a nice reminder of the very real feelings still lingering between them (despite Ricky being between them and everything that means for them), of the fact that EJ didn't want to break up, and it kind of took me back to the cute friendship they had that they built their relationship on, despite EJ obviously noticing the tension and feelings between Ricky and Gina...and then Ricky had to make eye contact with Gina at the end, and EJ's heartbroken face...he was already sad enough as it is. maybe that look was part of the show? bc in that specific scene in the musical, Kristoff (Ricky) is singing to Anna (Gina)...so maybe that was just choreography and we are all interpreting this incorrectly. I kind of wished they hadn't done that with that song...I was hoping it would be more about Gina and EJ and they would realize they need to have a convo and then talk about things, like how even though they love and care about each other very much they're better off as friends and she should've been honest with him about Ricky, just a simple "I'm really sorry for doing this to you, you don't deserve it...I've been struggling with my feelings for Ricky for a while now and I thought I was over it, I thought you were my person...but now I think you're better off without me, I'm just going to continue breaking your heart because I don't know what I want anymore and I really need to figure that out first before I involve someone else's heart" period. If I was writing this show, I would have added a moment like that for them, so that Rina getting together at the end wouldn't feel so weird and abrupt. Also bc she and EJ never actually got closure (as evidenced by what EJ said/how he reacted in that final scene).

that whole This Is Me moment was kinda weird? I would have liked it more if the entire cast was singing together but it ended up being the little girl's solo with the cast doing back up and it was sort of just a weird sequence. I'm also just salty that they gave the little girl a song and not EJ. What a huge missed opportunity bc they could've written a really amazing ballad for him about being alone (although you're surrounded by ppl/your friends) and about breaking up with Gina, feeling like a failure in your dad's eyes and never living up to anyone's expectations of you, something like "All I wanted was to be good enough for you" or "what do I have to do to be good enough for you?" or "I broke my heart and tore myself apart/trying to make you happy/I destroyed myself for you/burned my house down to keep you warm/now I'm cold and alone/is that good enough for you?" or all of the above building up to an ending of "I'll never be good enough for you/but I tried everything/yeah, I was the best man I know how to be/and that's good enough for me". A golden opportunity and potential completely wasted. I'm so mad. Also, EJ bursting into "When There Was Me And You" would have also slapped (either they should have paused the Kristoff Lullaby scene had him sing it at that point, or the final scene should have been EJ singing it . They really flushed so much potential down the toilet.

Honestly every single song from HSM2 went to waste this season, they could have thrown ALL of them in- Work This Out in the first episode when they all arrived at camp and hated how rustic it is...and can you imagine EJ and Ricky singing I Don't Dance at some point? would have been hilarious. And Gotta Go My Own Way? Would have been PERFECT. Not mention EJ singing Bet On It and getting the angry dance sequence. Soooo many wasted opportunities.

Why did EJ have to do to curtain call in the Sven costume? I thought as the director he'd get to pop after curtain call separately and get separate applause/recognition. Literally every musical and play I've ever been to has had a moment after the cast does their bows where the cast makes sure the director (and tech ppl/crew, and orchestra if there is one) get their own applause from the audience at the end...it's theater etiquette. It's just weird that that didn't happen for EJ, after the big deal they made out of him directing the show. And then literally no one told him "good job" or anything like that, never mind "I'm proud of you"...they were all focused on the actors and congratulating them...and I know they had no way to know what happened with his dad, but I just thought since they all know he's spent the last 2 weeks putting all of his time, effort, and focus into it (and they know about the letter from his dad) that they'd be like "no matter what your dad thinks, we're proud of you" (Gina should have said that!). He didn't even get flowers or any other director thank you gift...just nothing. No one was proud of EJ, no director applause moment or appreciation of any type and I just thought that was messed up. Especially because you know he was already sad knowing he had graduated and they're all going to have a year of school going on without him...and he basically got a preview at camp that they can and will go on without him without even really missing him (and Ricky essentially replaced him). He basically got told by everyone, including his own father that they don't really care about him (not literally just looking at it from his pov). It was just really sad to see and I don't even know what the point of it was? Like what is his storyline from here and what was his storyline from this season supposed to be if it lead up to THAT? He just wants to matter and be important to someone! And it probably doesn't even have to be romantic at this point!

Lastly, the final scene...I found it (and the finale in general) kind of underwhelming? The premiere red carpet thing was weird and it felt like a dream sequence or something, and then from there we jumped into them watching the premiere trailer thing which they all had to know was a load of fake bullshit. I want to know what happened in that one month bc EJ still seemed really angry and upset about Gina, and he was kind of surprised-but-not-surprised by what was revealed about R*na in the trailer. Were they trying to reconcile their friendship or something? Because the look on his face of betrayal and hurt was so sad. I wanted to like the R*na scene, I really did...but it just felt cheap and flat and didn't have the power I wanted their first kiss to have. And the speech she gave....what. the. fuck. So she's been in love with Ricky the whole time (and apparently knew it) which in itself implies she didn't really have those type of feelings for EJ, but then add to that the "you're not a maybe to me" I could not take it seriously after she said that. I think what she meant to say to EJ was "you're a maybe to me, so I'm making up excuses to break up with you". First you have the audacity to piggyback off something EJ said to confess your feelings to Ricky, and then you're gonna say that to him? Was EJ still within earshot? It just felt like Ricky and Gina were putting EJ down (and for what??? it was unnecessary). Also why did I sit through 8 episodes of Ricky freaking out about telling Gina his feelings, being scared to do it, and all the drama about that convo between him and Carlos and him dead set on telling her before the documentary aired for him to NEVER TELL HER his feelings??????

Also remember when we were all arguing about whether it was okay for Ricky to *fake* slap EJ, even if he "deserved it" or whatever? Well I'm glad they let EJ answer that argument for us. He is the bigger person and took the high road, even though no one would have blamed him if he did. I do not know why he called Ricky his "brother" though? Like some brother you've got there. Worse than Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher. Also it just makes everything they did to EJ worse bc camp and the theater are both his second homes (bc his dad sucks) and he frequently refers to the Wildcats as his family, but his "family" doesn't seem to give a shit about him.

Overall, but especially the ending, it all felt weirdly out of character and overly dramatic and like over the top...I know it's always been over the top and dramatic but this felt off and different than usual. It felt like a weird fever dream. I am convinced they were still acting dramatic for the documentary and at the start of next season it will be revealed (Corbin even said they were showing them the trailer before the premiere thing started and people came in to "get their reactions". which makes me believe they were being filmed and they knew it). Idk I just don't know anymore. I do love the concept of season 4 though so I'll probably watch it just for the HSM cast and nostalgia. And also I'm already this invested might as well finish lol

I don't even like Daemon but greenie who act as if they have the high moral ground because they like Aemond instead of Daemon are so funny and weird because how can you think that stanning a mass genocider, child killer and possibly a rapist make you any better than who like Aegon, Daemon, Rhaenyra? I have a personal vendetta against daemon in the show, mostly because I love him so much in the book. However, as much as I hate his guts in hotd, seeing people acting like he's satan when other characters are equally - if not more - worse is ridiculous

again I blame the uwufication the writing did with Aemond's character; they tried to have him as a bullied kid, scorned and dismissed even by his own family who gets power when claiming a dragon that gives him the chance to "finally shine"

don't get me wrong, Aemond isn't an angel in the show either. He literally beat a little girl that was younger than him, he stole her chance to claim her mother's dragon, he called his nephews bastards and mocked the death of the man who they were closed to.

Of course all of this gets a pass by his fans because, in their eyes the fight was unfair because he was alone, claiming vhagar was his right, insulting his nephews is fine because they are bastards, and his cruel words were just a heat of the moment 🤷🏻‍♀️ I really gotta wonder how they're gonna justify him burning the riverlands. Then again, his relationship with Alys (which is also fucked up) has already gotten a Disney version by the fanbase so nothing will surprise me.

I'm always gonna miss book Aemond because he was entertaining in the best unhinged way and you could definitely adapt this character on screen while doing a character study to understand how he came to be.

brother crab’s 2023 seasonals in review: summer

surprisingly easy to rank season for me, so i'll get right to it

anime of the season + runner-up for summer goes to...

undead girl murder farce and zom 100: zombie ni naru made ni shitai 100 no koto! nothing else even came close

i'm giving ugmf anime of the season because i personally vibed with it a lot (murder mysteries with a rakugo flair + arsene lupin trying to fuck the phantom of the opera in the background you really cannot go wrong) and also because zom100 has yet to release its last few episodes

zom100 is such a consistently solid show, though, that even without seeing the full cour i'm prepared to give it runner-up of the season. and it's honestly a strong contender for anime of the year. the first episode especially... i would rank it even higher than the first ep of oshi no ko tbh

lots of sequels this season as well!

horimiya, bleach, jjk, and bsd. some new snv came out this season as well but since i binged all that at once it doesn't really feel like a sequel to me

anyway easily sequel of the season goes to bleach, largely because of nostalgia won't deny that but also because it's just that fucking good

horimiya however was also an immense delight! gonna miss these wacky kids :')

quickfire thoughts on everything else:

watashi no shiawase na kekkon is the shoujo of the year, there's been a lot of cute stuff lately but nothing comes close to watakon

vending machine isekai was fine and occasionally funny, but kinda shocked it got a sequel announced already. worldbuilding was definitely the most interesting part and i hope we see more of it in s2

dekiru n eko way kyou mo yuuutsu was absolutely perfect, very fun and cute and soothing

okashi na tensei had a promising premise which it failed to lean into, there was little to no BAKING in this BAKING anime jfc

lv1 maou to one room yuusha seemed like your run of the mill shitty ecchi but actually it's NONBINARY OLD MAN YAOI?! and was kinda good. dumb, but fun

ai no idenshi was... well it was episodic which i like, generally, but it really. was not consistent. some good pieces, some not so good. some interesting, some not so interesting. main failing is it really did not imo balance its 'main' plot with its mini-stories well at all

ayaka was fun! it doesn't really hold a candle to k project like at all but at least it was not as bad as praeter lmao

synduality noir (first cour) was alright. nothing to write home about but a decent enough mecha. as far as anime that are game ads go... i'd say it's okay. a little more interesting than takt op to me, though not as visually stunning. and not as compelling as god eater

hyakushou kizoku was a tv short adapting arakawa hiromu's autobiographical farming manga and it was such a delight lol, especially fun if you're a fan of fma or silver spoon. explains so much about ed tbh

hi no tori: eden no sora was a 4-ep ona that i quite liked overall... ending was just so-so to me i guess

dark gathering isn't quite over still but it's fine as a horror that's heavy on the gore (gorror? is that a thing) actually. probably better than fine, it's just not my genre. some of the stories are definitely more gripping than others, but yeah solid horror overall and really good cast (yandere hanakana what could be better)

helck is also still going but has been really solid, way more enjoyable than i'd imagined. it has an 80s feel to it that i love

and last but certainly not least shuumatsu no valkyrie ii part 2 gives us GYARU FUCKBOI BUDDHA once again. what could be better lmao

Poor Tangle she's felt so bad when all she wanted was to make Whisper happy. She was just so sad for the first half. And like this mistake lines up so well with her 'no thoughts head empty just action' personality.

And just Whisper finally reuniting with her friends made me so happy (the pink one is getting SMUSHED help them!! (also SEGA name them please)) She just really went through it these last few issues (so did Sonic cause you know the bitey bath he took) but still she already lost her friends once and it almost happened again she gonna need a minute.

Once again Tails and Blaze are the only ones who have a brain cell in the group. (also I love Blaze's face in these panels she just looks so done with Sonic's shenanigans lol)

Also rip to part of my other headcanon about the chaos emeralds and how Eggman hasn't really tired to recreate a fake one like Tails did in the Adventure 2 game. But also it still holds because even Tails said it's a "cheap replica(s)". (also of course Tails still has to get a burn in there towards Eggman and him having shit tech) This still means that somehow Tails made an replica that was the size of a chaos emerald and worked well enough Sonic teleported so Tails canonically still has made a better fake than Eggman.

But my mind also immediately just jumped to " *bangs fists on table* DARK SONIC * DARK SONIC * DARK SONIC" (they probably aint gonna do it but we got fake emeralds so I'm holding out hope we get a dark Sonic arc)

Give it up to my girl Amy for being a menace and a bad ass

The ENTIRETY of Sumeru should have put this take in the ground where it belongs. And it ain't even the full tidbit of the thing being referenced either. I think you should honestly quit playing Gensh if you're not actually going to pay attention to the story and lore and get on a high-horse about how other people totes have it wrong. It's fine to have preferences for characters, but genuinely fuck off with the "any take I dislike is obviously wrong and shouldn't be written" shit.

Polite Answer: A few characters I personally find boring or un-engaging, some headcanons I'm really not into, and one version of a take on a ship that baffles me.

I really don't see the whole wide appeal of characters like Barbara, Noelle, Nilou, Kokomi, Mona...to me, they're all just kind of generically cute and sweet. (And one character I forgot I kind of genuinely despise, but I think I get the appeal so I don't think I can put her here...) I guess I can kind of get it, but the more people angrily try to say how great they are and complain about That Sort Of Take while putting down other characters like Itto, the less inclined I am to even try to like them, and the more resentful I get instead. I also have zero interest in the "pop idol" facet of Barbara's personality, and was more interested in her in the story when she was doing her priest/nun role, since I'm EXTREMELY used to "cutesy bubbly girl who sings" and not very used to "cute-but-serious nun" characters.

(Also call Barbara fucking minor-coded again and I will find a way to rip through this computer screen I swear to god)

Next would probably be Childe being some kind of confident playboy. I think that's born of the English dub exclusively, and has no fitting place in any genuine part of his personality. It's hard to explain, but he gives me way more of an Innocent But Violent Kid vibe, particularly with his devotion to the Tsaritsa. (No this isn't child-coding, this is a description of trauma stuff) And I find that much more fascinating. (Also very funny to think his sex education might be a little lacking if he had to learn from other Harbingers or something) Also I have NO idea why people like him saying "girlie" so much. In every other language, he's far more polite and essentially says some form of "miss", and I haaaaaaate when people call me "girlie" so, so much. That's just a personal pet peeve of mine. Can't trust english fandom with anything.

And basically, in general, if it's the english fandom's version of the character, I pretty much exclusively don't understand it or its appeal. The takes of people that only engage with the english dub and nothing else are generally pretty bad and way off the mark for actual characterizations, especially with things like the Harbingers.

While I've since remembered some ship takes I genuinely dislike a bit, one that baffles me endlessly is Kazuha/Wanderer; specifically the version where they make a lot of parallels between Kazuha and Niwa, but think it's BadWrong to ship Niwa/Wanderer. Like, friend, bud, amigo, chum, pal.......what? You're very, very close to just writing straight up Niwa/Wanderer, what's your problem, why are you complaining?

(...I also don't really get why so many people like Wanderer/Mona. I kinda sorta get the basis, but I also just...don't...like Mona, as previously mentioned, and I don't really know what's so compelling about those two together.)

I'd generally advise to take mmmost of these with a grain of salt. I'm the type of person that can be tricked into liking anything so long as you get me writing it for whatever reason.

But I WILL grow to hate things out of spite also, so. you know.

1st day back at work afzer 3 weeks holidays.

Glee Rewatch 1x20. What's the Glee Club all about, in the end?

At the time I'm writing this, I'm half-comatose because today sucks and I never sleep enough so I guess it's time to continue my rewatch!

Thankfully Principal Figgins is just as delirious as I am as he's very scared of colored hair and sick-ass outfits.

Figgins's argument against gothic fashion makes just as much sense as my university department's decision to forbid laptops and phones, that is to say, you can easily debunk it and it is mind-numbing that such a person is in charge of, well, anything.

Thankfully this is Glee we're talking, and surely people IRL are much more thoughtful and logical and aren't complete asses, right?

Needless to say, the viewer is supposed to be on Tina's side here and she's absolutely right to scare Figgins away later in the episode by pretending to be a vampire.

Look at them! Burt and Kurt are on the same wavelength (look at the patterns!). That's good to see. The party is deceitful, just like Kurt's behavior towards Finn. There's lights, mirrors, ~ethnic food~ that is actually just tuna, it's artificial, it's trying to make Finn feel welcome, but it doesn't work because it's *too much*, just as Kurt's actions towards Finn. It's too much and it's not going to end well.

I love how the shortage of red lace and tinsel is a clear sign for the Glee Club that Vocal Adrenaline is doing Lady Gaga.

This trio is a very peculiar one. Color-wise, Quinn has been wearing red a lot recently. She's giving me Little Red Riding Hood vibes. Who's the wolf? Society, obviously. Society's gonna try to dry up Quinn's hope and faith to make a mindless zombie of her. Thankfully we all know she ends up marrying Rachel so everything's fine. They both wear blue! Mercedes meanwhile is set apart by wearing black and grey.

As much as I'm not into Shelby as a character, the scene where she sings Funny Girl and Rachel understands she's her mother is very beautiful. It's one of those rare, great Glee moments.

I think Shelby knew Rachel was in the room. She had to know, right? Do you think she decided on the Gaga number specifically so that Rachel would notice and investigate it?

As usual Will and Finn's clothes are very similar in spirit.

I guess this is the part where I mention I was at one of Gaga's Chromatica concerts? I'm no Gaga afficionado but the music was really good! She was very touching too, although I didn't particularly care about her "I play piano and sing" parts but to each their own, right? I enjoyed the experience. It was essentially a Pride Parade.

Anyway Kurt and Tina are rocking those outfits, and Quinn is jealous. Do we need to analyze those outfits? Kurt's is extravagant, you can't miss the pointy shoulders (a play on typical masculine shoulders that are more rounded), open collar (decolletage), the wig (higher status). Tina's is a bit more puzzling because we generally see less of Tina. The diadem is foreshadowing for season 4 (no it's not) and Tina's general development past S2 (no it's not); she's bubbly in this scene in a stark contrast to her goth persona from before. She's a side character who has multiple sides!

Quinn is all in pink! Suits her well, obviously, she looks like a real princess (the dress, the long gloves, the tights and shoes), if a bit rock'n roll-ish, say Louis XIV's court mixed with Interstella 5555. She tries to seem all girly and typical, but there's a strong personality underneath. Also, her spiky thing next to Tina's bubble is certainly a recipe for disaster. Gosh I love her outfit.

Mercedes's outfit is diva-esque but like Kurt there's an emphasis on the shoulders, mixing masculinity and feminity and exagerating it to the point of burlesque. I'm... not very fond of her look but she does rock it.

(Side note please Mike gimme your entire wardrobe.)

Santana's outfit is very precocious in terms of the show, as she hasn't yet developed much of a character but it's *exactly* the aesthetic she goes for later in the series. Dark, showy, sultry, and exceedingly distingued. Very classy.

Brittany's outfit is weird in that "old sci-fi series" department, the kind that is ridiculous. It somehow works on her. I have no idea what the lobster is supposed to mean. Is it astrology-related?

The scene between Finn, Kurt and later Burt is hard to watch. It's sad for everyone involved, but I think it was absolutely necessary. Kurt needed to be told that his behavior was inappropriate and made Finn genuinely uncomfortable. And Finn needed to hear Burt's talk to have a good look at himself.

And you know what? I admire Finn's courage to try and make ammends the next day. The next day! It's one of his characteristics, he's always trying to do his best, even when he's lost. And here, he knows that he was bad and shows himself as more mature than Kurt, who refuses to talk about it.

"I'm proud to be different. It's the best thing about me." is totally something I would say. You can really feel that the writers knew what they were doing with Kurt, he feels real and resonates in a way a lot of other characters simply don't.

Anyway, the episode ends on a cute note! And I personally feel a bit better. Isn't that what the Glee Club is all about?

I'm exhausted. I'm just exhausted. So so exhausted.

These days when I come home from school, have lunch and finally have free time I just wanna cry. It's either the school that makes me wanna cry or seeing my parents both super tired those days or seeing my grandma not being so healthy or seeing my cousins depressed and stressed or not having any desire to eat and loosing my kg again or not being able to even watch a silly show because I'm too tired of everything or all of it all at once....

Or realizing that yeah I love my friends and classmates but honestly my hate for school wins and tho some people seen sad abt graduation....the closer it comes the more I realized that I'm too tired of school to be sad to leave it. I will miss my friends but this day was inevitable. That's why I just want it all to end.

I just need summer. I just need my dad being funny and outgoing again instead of coming stressed from work with bags under his eyes, I just need my mom being supportive of everyone again instead of putting a lot of housework on me because she's no longer a housewife and she's making money now. I just want to get away. Somewhere far, all alone, have a rest from everyone and everything somewhere in Malaysian beach where I don't need to worry about exams or stupid MUNs that aren't even interesting or useful.

I just really need to be sure that my future self will be happy with her life. That she will truly fall in love and marry someone. That she will have a job that she enjoys or be a stay at home wife that's having fun at home and going on walks with her lover late summer nights.

I don't need money or anything. Just a lovable person, a cat, a cute little house, meaningful conversations, friends, being able to create art everyday, seeing my loved ones happy and being sure my kids love their motha.

I need happiness. Back, I want it back

I need to do my Arabic and then my housework and then find some more info for stupid MUN (ew why did we even agree to take a part in this shit? It was boring today and I didn't like my own speech and zr even bullied kmll)

how is your day going? I hope you're slaying as the queen that you are

I came back from my trip on Friday and I've been very busy cause i have three exams this week and one is physics so I'm procrastinating. also, I'm probably going to be a little mia cause from now on I have exams every week till may, when I finish and I have to study on my own for the university entry exam in june. but I wanted to update you a little bit

I have not read the caraval series nor once upon a broken heart, I have a friend who has but she didn't like them very much. nevertheless I do want to read them but I have some books on my tbr that I got for my birthday and Christmas that I haven't been able to read yet.

and no I have not heard of that brazilian soup opera, but thanks to where I'm from, I can pretty much understand portuguese which I think it's really cool although I think portuguese to be a very dramatic language which I cannot take serious

okay so now the tea, do you remember the boy who learnt lover on the drums? (I'm gonna refer to him as lover boy, a bit cheesy but suits him fine). so I've come to terms with my feelings and I do like him. a lot, when I'm with him I feel really at peace and he's so handsome and nice and such a good person.

but the funny part isn't that, remember the other guy, well I feel so stupid for trusting him. there were some things that I didn't like and they kept accumulating but the icing on the cake was that he referred to me to his friends (loverboy is in his group of friends and he told me cause he got mad too) in a disrespectful way that I told him countless times I do not enjoy.

so now I just feel dumb for trusting him and holding him in such high esteem. and I don't know if I should compare them, but with loverboy I've never felt a moment of doubt whether I was being a burden or if he would like me to shut up. i didn't really feel shame for the way I am cause sometimes I just start rambling and people look at me weird, but for some reason he likes it when I ramble.

and he doesn't hate taylor swift he lets me explain him all the things and is willing to see the eras tour with me because he said that if I'm happy he's happy. and like this there are a lot of other silly little things that make me spin on the ground giggling kicking my feet

High School Movie Watch: Bottoms (2023) Watched:  01/19/2024 Format:  Prime Viewing:  First Director:  Emma Seligman Selection:  Me Pal AmyC had rec'd this one broadly to facebook over the summer, and I'd been curious.  And since, I'd heard in drips and drabs that this movie was really funny, but I didn't know anything about it other than "it's a high school comedy, but not like that".  And, honestly, I'm gonna pause you here and say: go in cold on this one, because if you know anything ahead of time, you're doing yourself a disservice.  Just go check it out I'll also throw in:  I want to re-watch this almost immediately, because (a) it was really solid, and (b) I know I missed about 1/4th of the jokes because there's weird little visual things all over the place and throw-away lines left and right that are hysterical.   So, what is it? I've noted through my old podcast series on high school movies, that the movies about high school that *feel* like high school to me are the ones that exist in some heightened reality that's reflecting back the experience like a funhouse mirror.  I don't really mean, like, wacky high school hang movies, but, say Heathers or Brick.  Movies that soak in the absurdity of being a young person governed by the arbitrary rules and regs of a public school, enforced by of dubious credentials to be in charge of anyone.  And, of course, the absurdities of teen relationships, platonic as well as romantic. This falls into that category - a movie taking place in a high school where the teachers have no motivation and don't know their subject, and the only real reason school exists is to be a place where football happens (at my high school it felt like those things were band, choir and drill team, but whatevs).   Two high school senior lesbians - who are not together, but who are best friends - want to spend their senior year getting laid.  But they consider themselves unattractive and untalented, and have nothing to offer.  But as we all do, at least one of them wants to start the school year as a new person on a mission.  To get with hot chicks. Things get off to a bad start, but through their friend Hazel, who seems distracted at best and maybe not right in the head at worst, a rumor is out they spent the summer in Juvie.  Leaning on their new reputation, the girls decide to start a fight club so they can get to know hot girls.   You know, the more I try to explain it - and this is the first maybe ten minutes of the movie - the less I think I'll do it any justice.   Here's what you should know:  this movie has Marshawn Lynch as a history teacher going through a divorce.  The football players *always* wear their uniforms.  Watch the background *constantly*, because shit is happening back there.  Punky Johnson shows up for five minutes and you will wonder why SNL doesn't know what to do with her.  There's one girl in braces who made me laugh every fucking time she opened her mouth.   The movie was directed by Emma Seligman, who still isn't even thirty and this is her second feature (she's gonna be fine, I'm guessing).  She also co-wrote with star Rachel Sennott, who is hysterical.
