i found and read a draft script of scream for funsies bc it’s a hobby of mine and i wanted to share a couple interesting finds with stuilly nation

firstly, billy was originally written to be in the scene at tatum’s locker

logically it makes more sense for billy not to be in this scene at all so sidney can smack into him in the next scene but the way his place was taken by tatum… curious. makes you think.

secondly, this exchange was supposed to happen before the video store scene

personally i wish this would’ve made it to cut somehow bc i think it had a lot of potential, not only w exploring their dynamic together but also the way it was shot could’ve dropped a little extra hint to the big reveal at the end. plus i think stu parroting what billy says about him gives the meaning of it extra weight.

Started watching a "problem with greek myth retellings" video and it began with a blurb montage like "Condemned by the misogynist guys of history, this is the true girlboss feminist story of [A WOMAN]" and like. brb writing one of those about crown prince rudolf. what an interesting question, though! i don't think i've ever thought about what i anchor my portrayals to, honestly! usually my process of writing is jump started by a scene i'd like to explore applied to a character, so as i'm writing, i already have their reaction planned? if that makes sense?

but i guess ... one thing that drives my portrayals and actually propels me to make them MINE is............. ig my characterization of the specific trait of which i think drives someone to act and deliberate and even emote. and i know for a fact i spend a lot of time considering this as i'm going.

for example, with bakugo (and i know i write quite a different bakugo from a lot of other writers on here, which does make me a lil insecure because i like their bakugos !! for the most part) ... one thing that is super important to me to include is his crippling perfectionism and the way that part of him often... affects his interactions with others and/or you. So it's something i'm always thinking about when i am deliberately thinking... "what would he say or do in this scene if he was bothered by _?"

And for kiri, it would be the way he carries his shame. Or for shinso, his insecurities. things like that!! I'm not entirely sure if that's the proper way to describe it, but yeah!!!

anyway, i hope this wasn't too complicated and lengthy for you, sel! i'd love to hear what you think about when you write characters in different universes/moments too, and especially with a speechul boy like iwa ("i love shy buff men" written on my tshirt) !!!

Matt & Ivy have a really interesting dynamic!! both pre- and post-canon!! with or without romantic undertones!! either reciprocal or one-sided!!

and obviously it has to be handled with a particular level of care/respect BUT I think if we allowed them enough grace there is space to explore a really interesting possibility for that relationship.

#obviously Matt is not ENTITLED to Ivy - im absolutely not saying that at all #and he definitely did a lot of things extremely wrong and Ivy doesn’t HAVE to forgive him - she doesn't even have to *like* him #and in many stagings she actually doesn’t at all! even pre-canon she isn't into him on a *platonic* level - which i love for her #but I also think that - misguided & clumsy about it though he was - Matt is genuinely trying his best to see her as a person. #an idealized version of a person yes. but a person nonetheless. #which is what Ivy wants from Jason (and tbf he sees her as a person also but it’s an obviously different situation) #and while you can't force romantic compatibility (that was like. the whole point.) in some versions of the show they're not-quite-dating #- in varying types of “situationship” with varying levels of commitment. so it's not insane to me to say hey #maybe they need time to stabilize themselves and figure out who they are again after the events of the show. but maybe a couple years - #- down the line they reconnect and they're both in a better place & maybe this time it can all work out. #idk I think I just see a lot of people write it off entirely - and they’re well within their rights to do so don’t get me wrong #but I don’t think it’s fair necessarily to put them in the ‘doomed to fail’ category #wow okay I care about them as a pair more than I realised #tldr; give Matt & Ivy and their relationship dynamic the grace + complexity they deserve #mouse talks bapo #bare a pop opera #Ivy Robinson #Matt Lloyd #[as a side note - sometimes I think about queer Matt & transmasc Ivy & the interesting concept of their potential boyfriendism]

having a really interesting discussion w my coworker about serialization/release schedules for shows - we agree that a weekly model is way more engaging than dropping the whole thing at once. there’s not really a point to making this post other than to say that while I do enjoy binging a show in a short period of time it’s way more rewarding to chew on each new episode (or chunk of episodes if they drop a few at a time) for a week until the next one.

thinking abt the post going around that’s like yeah the rise of streaming services kinda killed oldfandom bc now you see a wave of enthusiasm for the hot new show & then it goes dormant for like.. a year until the next season - IF it gets another season - meanwhile shows releasing on a weekly basis, even if they’ve been over for years, still have very dedicated fans bc (in part) of the time they’ve spent engaging w the thing they like. Not to say that newfandom treats stuff like shiny new toys to be played with for a few weeks and then forgotten about, this is the fault of the streaming services & corporations trying to squeeze every last cent out of us lol.

idk. interesting to think abt. other coworker also wishes more shows would have recaps at the beginning of each season like they used to bc after a while it gets really tiresome rewatching the previous seasons to refresh your memory of what happened before the new one comes out. He is right.
