Iliotibial Band is a connective tissue that runs from above your hip to just below your knee.
Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) occurs in people involved in endurance sports due to the overuse of the leg. It occurs when the Iliotibial Band becomes tight and it rubs against the thighbone.
People with ITBS syndrome can experience sharp pain in the outer knee area, which can radiate to the thighs and up to the hip area.

Class Focus : IT Band #Iliotibialbandsyndrome is one of the leading causes of lateral #kneepain in runners. The #iliotibialband is a thick band of #fascia on the lateral aspect of the knee, extending from the outside of the #pelvis, over the hip and knee, and inserting just below the knee. The band is crucial in stabilizing the knee during running. Also included a bit of #bellybreathing which is something we all need to practise. #tadasana with #externalrotation counters all the long hours sitting hunched up over a desk. #healthyshoulders need external rotation. External rotation of the shoulder strengthens the #rotatorcuff muscles which help to stabilise the shoulder joint.
