Watching the doc and seeing Laura talking about the death threats she received was so hard man. It still baffles me that there are people out there with so few brain cells they thought FICTIONAL characters were real people. I love Laura sm man

you've got me back into Hellsing, your original character is really cool and she just fits so well??? like if you threw her into the manga or anime, she'd blend in with the rest of the characters which is something really hard to do imo! inspiring ♥
This is the highest form of compliment for me thank you so so much 😔🙏💞💞
I think I did drag some people back into their Hellsing phase lmao I am the edgy Pied Piper
When creating OCs of a fandom I really love to just incorporate them into the story! To make them live thru it like the other characters and use the same vibes as the og material. Here Laura is an absolute cunt and a monster but she’s got the vibe that you just can’t hold it against her because she’s a gunslinging maid and a huge werewolf. Who would hate that ?

This was a great question to think about! I had so much fun figuring out which medium every OC would pick.

Yael for Nate: The painting 'Rough Sea with Wreckage' by Turner shown above. Although she doesn't know everything about Nate's past, the imagine of the lonely ship out on a rough sea makes her think about what Nate may have been through. It reminds her of the scene in the mirror, how could it not?
There's also the contrast between the light and the darker clouds, and it's unclear whether the ship is sailing into the storm or coming out of it. It makes her feel the tension of the unknown: the things she doesn't know about his past, the uncertainties of their future together. It's more emotion that she gets from this piece than anything articulated in words, but that suits her, I think.
Melike for Morgan: The poem 'i like my body when it is with your' by e. e. cummings. The physicality of the poem reminds them of Morgan, but there's also this sense of.. wonder, that "thrill" of something new that is mentioned at the end. Melike is very self-contained and it comes as a surprise to her how much they have grown to like Morgan's company. I can see her choose this poem because of the physical descriptions, but then get quiet and contemplative when going over it a second time, because of how those first lines suggest a change in her as well. It's about them, even though neither of them is quite sure what "they" are.
Gabi for Farah: The song I already like you by Dessa, because it's such an upbeat song! Gabi loves how Farah throws herself into their relationship, not holding back, she's open and honest and "Let's go!". The entire vibe of the song fits Farah so well, but what Gabi would pick out specifically is the "There's no sure bet // You just ride, ride, ride roulette" because she herself is the type of person who would want to be 100% sure before doing anything, but Farah is showing her that it's not all that bad to go for it.
Also, I can imagine Farah humming this song after picking it up from one of Gabi's playlists.
Laura for Ava: Laura is too cool for me lol! She would answer with a meme or a movie reference, but I don't know enough about either to give a good answer.

hello hello hello random ass question but you're an English major and I want to know what your favourite books are and why thank you very much 🥰
Dear Laura,
hi hi hi!! You just asked what's probably my favorite question ever and of course, I got carried away. I'm sorry if this is too long!
Surprisingly enough, none of the books I had to read at uni are my favorite 😅 Obviously, I had to read the classics (Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights...) and I'm not a very big fan of those. They also forced Shakespeare down my throat for a couple of years and I ended up having a love/hate relationship with his works and his persona lol (I love the town where he was born, tho, it's my favorite town in England). 🤍
I read a lot, and I read a lot of everything. If you ever see my bookshelf you will see stuff ranging from Nicholas Sparks' novels to Stephen King's works (he's one of my fav authors) to some really fucked up stories like We Need to Talk about Kevin or My Absolute Darling (I actually loved these last two).
If you ever want to know, I have a favorite book for every genre. But my absolute all time favorite books are The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, and The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (I literaly cry for days every time I read this one).
The Thirteenth Tale is, most of all, a Gothic novel, and I love all things Gothic. This is definitely my go-to comfort read at any time. It has many classic Gothic elements and it can be somewhat predictable at times, but I was not expecting the plot twist toward the end. I love it for its setting in an abandoned manor and a main character with a quiet nature, who adores books and stories, and is emotionally scarred from childhood trauma.
I would define The Time Traveler's Wife as a romance novel with magical realism, and totally heartbreaking. It's got a touch of sci-fi with the time traveling thing, but it's not exactly what you would expect. I really don't like sci-fi stories and I think one of the reasons why I fell in love with this one is because of the way the author deals with that in the book. To summarize, the story follows Henry and Clare as they navigate life while coping with Henry's genetic condition, which causes him to randomly time travel. The curious thing about his condition is that, when he time travels, he often finds himself meeting Clare at different stages of her life; when she's a little girl, then a teenager, and then when she's an adult and they're married. The first time I read this book, I was a teenager and I found it really beautiful, innovating, and sad. The second time, I had already experienced being in love, so I felt everything between Henry & Clare's relationship on a deeper level, and towards the end, the story gets so heartbreaking that I was crying for days on train journeys, at work, and at home (I have to say that I'm a very sensible person and a crybaby lol).
However, there's also one other book that I read when I was 14 or so called The Wishing Game by Patrick Redmond that I've loved ever since, but its somewhat controversial for me because I fell in love with the 'villain' and was supportive of all his crimes 🫣 I think the reason why I empathized with him was because I read the story while I was in my teenage years, in my glorious high school days, and as most of us, I didn't really fit it, and sometimes I felt really neglected and angry, so I guess it was sort of comforting to read about a boarding school where the bullies start mysteriously dying 😶‍🌫️
What about you? Any favorite books? Oh, I love talking about books! This message put a big smile on my face sfsadfnsdsdfasjn 💞

Well, now I'm curious about you! If you had to choose 5 things you've written as a "crash course" to your writing personality, which would you choose? C:
damn ok i guess the downside of coming up with an ask is that you might have to answer it too 😶 lemme think lemme think
Whither thou goest (LOTRO, f/f, 829 words, rated T) This fic has all aspects of my personality. Tolkien, a healthy dose of tragedy, chivalric romance, and a throughline repetition. I think it might be the shortest possible blurb to get an idea of what and how I like to write.
2. This thing between us. (The Northern Passage, nb/m pre-relationship, 4.8k words, rated M) This fic is a little older and I would love to go back and edit it (I was trying some things with interplay of past and present and I think the different tenses get a lil iffy and I could do better now) but it was an exercise in writing a character that belongs to a friend and getting their inner dialogue--which we don't get to see much of in TNP--to roughly match up. But I still think of this as one of my landmark fics.
3. Lipstick (Mass Effect, nb/m pre-relationship, 1.3k words, rated T) One of the first times I tried a more...poetry inspired? Approach to temporality. I still really love this one. I think the pining stage of romances is tied with tragic endings for my favorite to explore in text. Which is why this one has both.
4. Frail Hope (BG3, f/m, 1.3k words, rated T) Primarily an exploration of all the places I wish the game had let us go in terms of the very obvious trauma the characters are put through, this fic is also a sort of reversal to my other Wyllbhla fic where Dearbhla comforts Wyll.
5. The Lions of House Cousland (DA:O, general and f/m, 253k words, rated M) Okay, maybe not a crash course in the strictest sense, but this fic is...me. Lol. It's an Origins rewrite, yes, but it's also a love letter to my faith and to the friend who introduced me to it (ily Jas 💗). An exploration of grief and horror and duty and guilt and family, I can't *not* put this fic on the list.
If you liked this, consider passing along the question to some of your favorite authors! 💗 If you had to pick 5 fics you’ve written to make a “crash course” and sum up your writing personality, which would they be?

What are your thoughts on this week’s episode? I loved the parallels.
the new ep broke me, it was angsty af 😭 but i’m happy that the whole cory/bradley and bradley/laura thing makes sense now. the parallels were everything, i agree <33 my favorite bits in the episode for sure, the soulmatism is soooo real. the only thing im kinda disappointed with is the lack of hurt/comfort??? after seeing that tiny flashback in ep1 i assumed cory was with bradley after the events of jan 6, i thought she was gonna call him for help and he would come to her and take care of her or smth. i feel ROBBED but i get why this didn’t happen. ep5 is about cory/bradley growing apart and longing, it wouldn’t make sense for them to have a lot of scenes together. bradley really hurt him, and cory is trying to protect himself and distance himself from her. so it makes sense to me now why in the first 4 eps he only approached her about work related stuff. i hope both of them will figure everything out at the end of the season and clean the air between them 😭 it upsets me that the outing still hasn’t been addressed yet, so it’s probably gonna get even worse for them before anything else happens :// side note: i saw some people presume that c/b hooked up after his confession which i highly doubt tbh… bradley was way too distressed and couldn’t think about anything but her brother, and i don’t believe cory would take advantage of her like that, esp knowing that she’s still with laura. just my opinion though lol
