Next is Depth! He is dark Sky. (He gets his own special dramatic portrait—the perspective mostly works? Idk I need to practice and find some good refs for this sort of thing.) So much rambling about him and his design under the cut.
Masterpost
The most striking thing about Depth is how normal he looks. Disregarding a few odd features, he looks like Just Some Guy, at least until he opens his mouth. He occasionally feigns being mute around others so he can keep the charade of being human up for longer, since his voice sounds truly awful. Depth is paler than Sky with much darker hair and orange-red eyes, but is otherwise identical. He doesn't mind that, and chooses to play it up a bit with very similar clothes, too. His tunic is rust-colored, opposite Sky’s spring green, and his chainmail is pointed and jagged on the ends instead of smooth. He wears a purple sash with more angular designs and lines, which matches the purple charm that keeps his cape on.
Depth’s sailcloth is both a source of pride and a sore spot. He made it to contrast Sky’s, dark and tattered, but one of his very secret desires is to get one as beautiful as Sky’s, made by Sun, maybe dark, but functional and lovely and a reminder of her.
See, Depth doesn't understand Sun—he doesn't actually know her, though he has memories from Sky. He wants her to be a damsel in distress that he can rescue, he dreams of her choosing him over his Light, but he doesn't realize that she won't. He loves his idea of her. While Depth follows [insert LU bad guy here]’s directives, he makes his own plans and he has his own agendas, and many of those plans aid him, in some way, to win Sun’s affection.
However, as Depth has been growing into the leader role, he's starting to become attached to the other Darks. He's annoyed by them, but his plans have started to expand to benefit them in a way that doesn't necessarily benefit him, too. He might have a little altruism in him, after all.
Despite that, unfortunately, Depth remains someone who would not save the world, but someone who intends to damn it over and over again. He doesn't flinch at the thought of Demise’s curse, in fact, he would welcome it. He likes the idea of having a purpose and a destiny. He wants to coddle the few people he cares about and would set everything on fire to do it. He says he loves Sun more than Sky ever could, but he would lock her away to keep her "safe."
Depth is the de facto leader of the group, since he's driven and has ambition. He has a very strict idea of what the other Darks should be doing and gets upset when they don't do it. He hates being touched and is ruthlessly practical. Once, when Nothing was being particularly annoying and tried to steal Depth’s sailcloth, Depth broke at least one of Nothing's fingers. He hasn't gotten close to injuring someone like that again, due to equal parts nobody bothering him like that again and him trying to be a little gentler. He doesn't hesitate to threaten injury to keep order, though.
Depth knows about Ghirahim as a sword, and wants to wield it, but is under the impression that he needs to prove himself worthy first. (Whether or not [LU bad guy] actually intends to let him use it is a different story.) Depth is one of the more skilled sword fighters among the Darks, remembering formal training, but his sword isn't anything special. In a fight with Sky, they would be evenly matched if it weren't for Sky’s ability to use a Skyward Strike, and Depth's inability to block that much light.
Depth’s special ability is his voice. In a mundane way, the others try to not make him use it, because it's almost painful to hear. In a magical way, Depth’s voice carries over long distances. When he sings, he can summon creatures like bats, crows, rats, and snakes, and they'll listen to him for a time. When he screams, his voice is a magical, short-range wave of destruction. Yes, he's an evil Disney Princess. Depth doesn't feel any strong affinity for the animals he attracts, but he doesn't let Dire or anyone else hurt them, and he doesn't send them to their deaths. He mostly uses them as spies and distractions.
Depth is one of the more dangerous members of the Dark Chain—not because he’s physically imposing or particularly powerful, but because he can see beyond the next mission and is determined to ruin the Lights once and for all. He's one of those who would happily kill his Light—but only after Depth shows him how he has lost everything dear to him.

Lu Guang is all calm and composed until it’s Cheng Xiaoshi that’s involved and suddenly he’s breaking the hospital window and jumping down the second (?) floor and stealing a speedboat from somewhere and launching himself into the air and tackling his boyfriend to save him from the clutches of an evil woman. And all this WHILE still recovering from a stab injury and still in his CAT PAJAMAS. And you all still think he’s the mature one? Be fucking for real.

Question of the hour: Which member of the Chain is emotionally intelligent enough to know why Sky had a complete meltdown in my story, Numb, because otherwise they’re all gonna be like “that was weird” and Sky’s gonna be like “yeah can we never talk about this again” and the consensus will be halfway agreeing and then watching Sky out of the corner of their eyes because what the hell even was that

I love how the master sword is meant to be the most powerful weapon, and yet in both botw and totk it's practically useless. Sure historically it's been used to fight and seal Ganon, but did it actually really do that in the games? When Link first picked up the sword in botw, he was what... 10? And it wasn't being used to seal anything, it was just chilling there. Then it did nothing to help Link fight the initial battle, like it got so damaged without even getting near the cause? And by the time Link finally picks it up again 100 years later it's not even a powerful weapon, there are so many better weapons at that point. How many of you actually used the master sword as weapon of choice while playing?
Then we get to totk where the sword immediately fails its one job, to fight Ganon. That's literally what it's there for, and yet it's immediately broken and incapacitated. And it takes 10,000 years for it to be good to enough to do anything (which is still very little) and it STILL again at that point is no longer the weapon of choice.

Warriors smiles. It's bright and wide and warm, relieved and watery and wobbly, and he feels like his body has just been recreated. The mourning over losing his only family to portals and fate ebbs from his chest, escapes through the laugh he lets out, incredulous and elated, maybe slightly hysterical, but Legend lets one out that sounds much the same, so he feels a bit more justified in it.
Instantly, the present burn in his chest snuffs out, smoke in his lungs and soot on his bones, and the hello, good morning, I love you, wants to pour out of him like water to a rickety dam.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: The Legend of Zelda & Related Fandoms, Linked Universe - Fandom Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Four & Hyrule & Legend & Sky & Time & Twilight & Warriors & Wild & Wind (Linked Universe), Four & Warriors (Linked Universe) Characters: Four (Linked Universe), Yiga Clan (Legend of Zelda), Warriors (Linked Universe), the others might join at some point Additional Tags: Minish Four (Linked Universe), Crack, Kidnapping, Misunderstandings, Four (Linked Universe)-centric, Yiga!Four, Kinda, Master Banana Summary:
When Four, stuck in his minish form, is dropped into the middle of the Yiga clan's base, he fears the worst. He would have never expected to be named a messenger of Ganon by the clan's leader. But there he was, forced to play the part of Master Banana until his brothers found him. He hoped they would soon. He was getting really tired of bananas.
I have a bunch (haha) of ideas for this. I might even make a oneshot book, who knows :>
This is somewhat of a simpler version, I have another idea that involves Twilight/Wolfie that I’ll put under the cut.
So Four keeps trying to get out, but the Yiga keep a close eye on him and he never gets to leave. In this version, either the Yiga know sign or they all learn it because it is the “language of ganon”. Eventually, he convinces them to let him go on a mission.
When he’s on the mission, he runs into the chain. He doesn’t want to blow his cover just in case, so he throws himself at Twilight/Wolfie. Wolfie can understand him, and he tells him “its me smithy I need you to kidnap me” and throws himself into Wolfie’s mouth. Twilight is confused but goes along with it
Twi and Four get captured and brought back to the base. In a last ditch effort to save Twilight, Four tells them “uhhh ganon is telling me that this beast will become my servant! He is lending me his power!” He starts telling Twi the plan in minish speak (which the yiga think is ganon’s language because of course they do). Twi even uses some twilight magic to create little wispy bits. So now they’re both stuck in the Yiga base, and Twi has to pretend to be under Four’s control. Four also tells them that Twi can’t eat bananas because “he doesnt deserve them” (he doesn’t want Twi to suffer like he has the past 2 months). Four doesn’t know if he can eat the dubious meat they give to Twi, but he will try if it means he gets to eat anything that isn’t bananas.
Thank you for listening to my rant about stupid au :>
If anyone wants to use this idea, I would love that! Just tag me so I can see it :D

*downs coffee like a shot* Before we go back to our regularly scheduled Linktober/Linktober Shadow (because I don't leave things unfinished if I can help it), I gotta get the idea of Revenant First out of my system and y'all get to suffer with me until it eventually ceases being an idea and it turns into an actual story. For some reason we talk a lot about First already being alive or already a ghost by the time the Chain meets him, but I don't think I've ever heard someone talk about him actually coming back to life and so y'all get to suffer with my insane ramblings like I'm an 1800's psychic ward patient who believes themselves to be a witch.
Can be x Reader or not idk just an idea that won't leave my mind.
Might expand on this later so Part out of I/?
Revenant First, who died for his people and in the name of his Goddess. All alone on the surface, fighting, fighting, fighting, always fighting. Just to make the land a little safer before the next hero arrives, just to contain the Imprisoned for a little while longer with likely nothing than a ordinary, common sword to his name and a slowly rusting armor.
Always giving so so so much for his people, always doing his best to protect them, though they scorned him, loathed him, didn't believe or support him, rejected him.
With a spirit so strong and lovely that a Goddess fell for him, hated herself for having to manipulate and put him through such horrid experiences just to save the many, just to turn the diamond of his soul into an unbreakable lonsdaleite blade agaisnt a mad deity.
Someone whose will would be enough to keep him going, just one more fight right? Just one more kill right? Forward, forward, ever onward, it doesn't matter if the flesh decays, if the blood drips drips drips until he is dry of it, if the liver doesn't process nutrients, if the lungs don't draw air, if the nerves feel nothing but the cold cold numbness of the winter of his final years, if the heart doesn't beat. If the armor rusts or the sword breaks. He must keep going, he must keep fighting.
To keep them safe he must have faith, faith that he can keep going, to grasp onto that one.single.thread of purpose until the day that fiery, indomitable, determined will finally burns out. Even if his Goddess may have forsaken him knowingly or unknowingly, even if his people have rejected him to the point he isn't even human anymore, even though they reviled him, even if that rejection should by all intents and purposes chained his spirit to the land or ground the jewel of his unbreakable soul into dust, he still loves them, still adores them, still wants to protect them.
No matter how long he must keep going for it. He wishes to see those he holds dear happy, though they cursed and imprisoned him once.
The Chain getting dropped into a completely empty, desolated and undeniably dead version of Sky's Hyrule, only to find the only living thing besides monster is a single man, with rusted gold armor and an old sword, a faded tunic of green with a long, crimson scarf like a bloody banner. With hair and eyes like theirs, undeniably a Link. But so very frigid, so very silent they almost didn't notice him, that they can't help but wonder just how many years he has spent there, eroding away, ruined but still kind, kind, so very gentle. A shadow of his former self, yes, but still himself, still so so so good, doing all he can until Sky's Era comes and maybe, just maybe, he can finally rest.
Or maybe not, after all, someone has to keep the land safe until the Hero after Sky comes around, no?
Just Revenant First in general.
Or maybe we give him the House in Fata Morgana treatment, the House in Fata Hylia Au if you will- *collapses from sleep deprivation*
#linked universe headcanons#lu first#lu fic idea#Revenant First#lu first x reader#maybe? it's mostly just an idea lol#might expand on this later lol#Also knows as what happens when Summer is sleep deprived while doing essays takes a break by listening to The House in Fata Morgana OST#and suddenly gets First in the brain lol#still have way too much First Hero on the brain that man deserves the world but at the same time I want to put him into Situations lol#Feral Revenant First being protective of the Chain my beloved#Sky being so confused because Fi at the same time recognizes the man and has just started lowkey crying and screaming in chimes#Twi Wind Hyrule and Time not knowing wether to be morbidly intrigued or horrified because he registers as both dead and alive to them#Meanwhile First is just chilling#doing his own thing and probably bonding with Wild over 'Being Dead but Got Better'#Probably doesn't even register he shouldn't be moving anymore after taking a stab to the heart or something lol#if we want to make an X Reader kind of thing then it's literally his love for Reader which also allows him to keep going#alongside sheer force of will and determination#Michel and Giselle vibes ya know? lol#Wait would that make Hylia Morgana? Or could it be Demise or something? Eh#I dunno might expand on that later/write out that Au later on as a self indulgent thing#Anyway for now ya'll get this until I am finally not swamped with literature/language essays and fistfighting sleep deprivation#Summer Writes#Summer Writes Linked Universe Headcanons#Summer's Sleep Deprived Headcanons

which (lu) link would dye their hair every 2-6 weeks if it was a modern au? idk i've got a feel at least *one* of them would, but *which one*??
I know everyone would say Legend, and it's true, Legend has major 'queer teen with colored hair and pronouns' vibes. But as someone who frequents the dye shop in Hateno and has multiple dragon headpieces just to dye the hair multiple colors, I think Wild would also think it would be fun. He would dye his hair multiple colors and bleach it all on his own and give Flora or Wind free reign to do whatever style they want with it. He would help Flora dye her own hair as her first act of teen rebellion against her heavily religious father.
But also Time secretly dyes his hair because he was graying prematurely and even though his hair is light enough to not notice it right away, he still prefers to maintain it to prevent it from getting out of hand. It also may be fierce deity related but who knows.

I saw the tags that mention AS Four and Shadow are a canon couple SO please can I see what you're thinking? Honestly, the more headcanons and stuff that I hear for this AU, the more excited I get about it ^u^
And I'm not just saying that cuz Four is my blorbo, I promise
Thank you!! Tbh Four is one of my favorites so I’m always eager to talk about him
I may or may not have paired my fav Zelda game with my fav character
The romance starts, unsurprisingly, with Vio and Shadow.
The two were already close before this and had begun to banter with one another regularly. Now, though, they were together, taking over the Yiga clan.
It went back and forth, their usual banter as Shadow joked and teased about their plans (or their false plans, anyway, for fear of any ninjas that may be listening in). Vio responded in his usual deadpan tone, often rolling his eyes with a small smile on his face.
Shadow rested on the throne, Vio sitting on the armrest. With how small the two were, Vio had eventually shifted to sitting right next to him. He wasn’t entirely paying attention, and eventually ended up on Shadow’s lap.
They kissed there on the throne of the Yiga clan, illuminated only by the light of the nearby torches.
A few days later and the entire scheme collapsed (but so did the Yiga base). They continued on. The moment Vio and Shadow shared went unmentioned, but both were thinking of it often.
The group decided that they needed to more practice as Four. Their break was over, and after the near defeat with Vah Ruto, they’d need to prepare before facing Vah Naboris. They agreed to do some shrines.
The first issue came when they arrived at the shrine deep in the desert next to the fairy fountain. They planned to awaken her, but Red admitted that he’d spent all their money on arrows. This infuriated Green because Red had sold the molduga parts he’d been farming for the past few days to get the money for arrows. They were now broke. To top it off, Blue revealed that he’d scammed some sucker out of his sand boots, but then dyed the sand boots blue. The other three, being stubbornly unwilling to wear something that wasn’t dyed their own color, got mad at him for it.
After a few minutes to cool off, they all agreed to combine and just do the damn shrine anyway. The thing with combining is that none of them have any true privacy; whatever memories one of them has during their time split will be immediately shared with the others.
The fact that they were all already frustrated combined with the fact that neither Vio nor Shadow had told anyone else about the fact that they’d kissed caused them all to immediately split and start arguing.
Blue accused Shadow of playing favorites, Green was mad because keeping secrets like that wouldn’t help them when they were trying to be more of a unit, and Red felt betrayed that Vio hadn’t said anything to the rest of them. It didn’t help that they were all hellishly jealous because they also wanted what Vio and Shadow had. The entire thing was a mess.
Needless to say, Vio and Shadow were left alone there, unable to actually do the shrine because they needed to be whole (and Shadow couldn’t go in the shrine anyway).
Now, Shadow adores all of them and really didn’t mean to play favorites. He def needs to give them some space before trying to prove that, though.
Vio, meanwhile, is bad with feelings and tries to logic his way through an apology (to which Shadow just says “lmao good luck with that”).
Anyway, Shadow goes and has a moment with each of them, though it’s less romantic and more just trying to make up and connect with each of them (he’ll have a particular romantic moment with each of them eventually but this isn’t it).
Vio also goes around and gets everyone some “sorry for keeping secrets from you” gifts. For Green he gets the exact amount of rupees that Red ‘stole’ from him (they have a shared inventory but Green is still mad about the molduga parts Red sold), for Blue he got a bunch of Yiga weaponry but put the effort in to make the handles blue instead of red, and he went and commissioned some custom jewelry from Isha for Red.
At least now that everyone was less pissed, they finally regrouped and started doing some shrines. Tbh sorting out that disagreement really did help with their overall cooperation as Four.
Eventually they faced Vah Naboris, and that battle was the first time Four truly felt like a single person since he woke up. The feeling didn’t last, but it had been nice.
Anyway, more about the romance! Each of the colors has their own particular moment with Shadow, and then Four too. Though, after the incident before, he’s making an effort to spend more time with each of them instead of just Vio.
Green and Shadow kissed on the back of a crumbling Talus they fought together. It wasn’t their smartest idea, seeing as the thing was crumbling under their feet. The entire fight had been exhilarating, and the adrenaline running high when Green had grabbed Shadow’s tunic to initiate. When the Talus dissipated Green broke his leg falling, but it had absolutely been worth it (two health potions later and he and his leg were fine).
Red and Shadow kissed doing something more domestic. They’d been cooking together, whipping up some magic foods in preparation for hiking up the frosty mountains. The others had gone off to do who knows what, and Red and Shadow remained, flipping through a cookbook and filling Red’s slate with delicious meals for the road. There had been plenty of cuddling, teasing, and messing around. The kiss was a simple peck on Shadow’s cheek to thank him for helping out, but nonetheless Red’s face matched his name by the time the others returned.
Blue and Shadow kissed as they explored together. Shadow loves banter, and Blue is so easy to get a rise out of (and maybe he was playing it up for comedic effect). It just went back and forth as the two travelled, on the search for shrines (or any little thing they might stumble across). They kissed after a rather typical exchange. Shadow was being a pest, Blue told him to shut up, and Shadow responded with "make me”. What else was Blue supposed to do? Not kiss him? Ridiculous.
One last scene I have in mind is when Four unlocks the Master Cycle Zero. Shadow sitting just behind Four, arms wrapped around his torso to keep on. The wind in their hair as they drive across Hyrule Field in ancient technology that they don't fully understand, whooping and hollering with joy.

thinking about making my old pokemon ocs into a blog rn
#they all used to just be one person but like. from different timelines#and then there was a whole multiverse thing#and arceus and the player itself was involved#it was fucking weird#and. a lot of cosmic horror got unexplored due to the rp they were in ending#i love cosmic horror but idk how i'd intergrate that into a pokemon character rn#also would only have to choose one to make into a blog for now#maybe bail? i absolutely loved that little shit#or orchid but the main guy who made them Like That doesn't exist anymore#so a Lot of repurposing would have to happen#i think i'll go with bail if i do it. the simplest one to pull off#except for maybe zel or lus but. not much for them to do#lus already had that issue. they were an instigator for cosmic horror and rage#and zel is kinda just a really fucking traumatised kid who doesn't have much motive outside their brother#but the brother isn't available either#sooo. i think it's gonna have to be bail#even then. a lot of repurposing is gonna have to happen#i could keep the experiment parts. like they were a psychological experiment to see if a person's personality could be replicated through#being genetically related and having identical personalities. but then the team rocket link gets messy#tldr is that they were an attempt to get basically a clone in terms of personality to proton so that team rocket would be able to remain#in the situation something were to happen to the main guy doing the dirty work#so they got a newborn kid who was genetically related to him and tried to replicate his childhood to make the kid act the same#it makes a lot more sense in the context of the rp that was happening#hmm#i will think on it
