Joseph x Aesop Carl (prompt #42) “why me?”
Joseph has been playing many matches since he’s arrived at the manor but not once did he see this handsome fellow. He had summoned the photo realm to start the match, and the first survivor he saw was an average sized man, wearing a face mask, with a low ponytail and long bangs. He seems to be holding what looks like a metallic briefcase. Joseph doesn’t know what this survivors ability is yet, but he is soon to find out.
He downed the survivor and chaired him in the photo realm, and when the timer was up he went looking around for the downed body of this new survivor. Joseph couldn’t get his face out of his mind. Although half of it was covered, Joseph thought he was the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen. Soon enough, Joseph found the downed survivor and chaired him. The survivor was wearing all grey, with his hair matching. He almost looked the same as he did in the photo realm if it weren’t for his skin color being average instead of a ghostly white.
The match ended quickly with a tie, and Joseph went to ask the other hunters if they knew about this particular fellow. The metal spider lady told him that he was the embalmer, and had the ability to summon a coffin in which when accustomed to a certain survivor-or himself- could resurrect that survivor at the place of the coffin to half health when they got downed or chaired. Joseph found that very interesting, and wanted to know more about this embalmer, so he set a journey to find his room.
Joseph walked through the hallway leading to the survivors part of the manor, until he bumped into the man he was looking for. He seemed to be walking towards the hunters part of the manor for some reason... “Greetings!” Joseph almost shouted, he was exited to finally meet him without having to wack him with his sword. “Good afternoon.” The embalmer said timidly. “What are you doing, walking towards the hunters side of the manor?” Joseph asked. He didn’t want to sound too rude or interrogative. “I was looking for you, actually. I just wanted to say you did well on our last match.”
Joseph was quite surprised, but returned the compliment. “I’m Aesop by the way. I don’t believe we met.” Aesop. What a gorgeous name, Joseph thought. “I’m Joseph. No, we haven’t met before. It’s nice to meet you!” He wanted to sound as kind as possible, as forgiveness for hitting him in the past and probably in future matches. “I’ll be heading back to my room now. Nice meeting you too.” Aesop turned around walked down the long hallway, disappearing behind the big wooden doors leading to the survivors side.
Months pass with Joseph and Aesop encountering many times again, wether it’s during matches or walking around the manor. Joseph tries to interact with him as much as possible. He soon has started developing a so-called “crush” on this Aesop, and is trying to wrack up the courage to try and get closer with him. Joseph walks over to the survivor side of the manor just to see him sometimes. Aesop isn’t always there, but Joseph also enjoys talking to other survivors, except for a few. He doesn’t like the ones he always sees smiling and laughing with Aesop. Joseph is jealous of how easily they can form relationships with him. Although they’re probably just friends, Joseph still fears that Aesop might’ve developed a crush on one of them. Maybe that’s why he’s laughing and spending time with them so much. Seeing Aesop get touched and loved by other people so much makes his heart ache.
That should be me spending time with him. He thought.
I never chose to be hunter. I’d spare him if I could.
Joseph continues to ramble on in his head about how jealous he is, and how he and Aesop deserve to be together, no one else. His jealousy only begins to grow more and more as time grows on, it starts hurting him, and it only gets worse. It gets worse and worse, until something happened. Something Joseph never expected to happen.
“I really like you.”
Aesops words floated around in Josephs head, bearing almost no meaning, as Joseph never thought he’d be told those four words. When he finally gets to the realization of what Aesop has said, he finally gets some words out his mouth. “Me? You like... me?” Joseph spits out. It almost sounds like an insult, or a mockery of Aesop. He’s taken aback a little, but stays strong with his statement.
“Why... why me?” Joseph asks, almost disgusted with himself. “What is there to like about me?” Joseph asks. “What isn’t there?” Jospeh wasn’t expecting that response at all. He’s so shocked, so astonished that someone as beautiful and amazing as him could like someone, someone like Joseph. Aesop starts to take his face mask off and Joseph panicked a little. Aesop has never taken his mask off in front of anyone else, so this is a big deal. “Joseph, you shouldn’t treat yourself that way. You’re more amazing than you’d think.” Aesop reaches his hand up to touch Joseph’s face, and starts to bring his face closer to his. Aesop lightly kisses Joseph on the lips, and pulls back after a few seconds, hand in the same place, eyes still closed.
“You’re amazing Joseph, never forget that.”
