favorite thing about them

His energy and humor! I write so much angsty Albus that writing James is so fun and refreshing. He comes off a bit mean in the play but (from experience) that just how brothers/siblings are. I think he truly cares so much for Albus and all of his family but doesn’t like to show his serious (a Sirius pun could be made somewhere here) side. He’s so fun to write!

least favorite thing about them

We don’t see too much so going off of fanon here. There’s not a lot I can say I dislike but I think sometimes he struggles with not being serious enough or being a little too self-absorbed. He focuses a lot on how people view him and its harder to get through to see his more vulnerable side. He wants to seem invincible and be the “strong confident older brother” but he has a lot of worries himself. I’m sure he was so scared for Albus when he went missing but we don’t really see that side of him (at least not as much, especially in the play)

I don’t really have any for him! I will have to branch out and read some more James-centric fics. I personally see him as someone who falls in love easily, so he’d have a lot of dates/partners before settling down as an adult.

Okay not necessarily a nOTP since there’s so few JSP ships that I know about but more of just one I don’t personally ship. I’ve never gotten into Jeddy. I totally see how they could work and I like the potential dynamic but I see them as brothers even if they aren’t blood-related--so it seems a little too close for comfort. Also the age difference is iffy to me. In an alternate universe where Remus and Tonks live and raise Teddy and James is a few years older than I would probably ship it but as it is, I just can’t.

After Hogwarts, James goes on to play professional Quidditch and travels the world for matches. Once his siblings and cousins have kids, he’s the “cool uncle” that stops by randomly with gifts from all of his travels. He doesn’t settle down until his mid-30s and probably would only have one kid--if any.

Not shipping Jeddy probably works here as well. I’d like to ship them but I can’t get past the whole brother thing. But maybe I could try reading some fics and see if anything changes.

Permission by New Hope Club. I think it shows some of his wild side and how he falls in love so hard despite people’s warnings. Some may see him as reckless but he sees it as getting the most out of life. (Also, Blake in the band is basically my HC for how JSP looks so that helps haha)

When I said that I would never shut up about ‘peace’ by Taylor Swift being the Jegulus song, I meant it.

It’s the only thing on my mind whilst listening. Here's some examples:

“But I'm a fire, and I'll keep your brittle heart warm” -> James, whose characterised as the sun, promising to keep Regulus warm. Regulus, who was always know for being cold, became the sun for the sun.

“All these people think love's for show, but I would die for you in secret” -> James, whose known for loving loud and open, has a special part of his heart only Regulus will ever see. Regulus, who in fact, did die for James in secret.

“Your integrity makes me seem small, you paint dreamscapes on the wall” -> I feel like this could work both ways. Regulus, whose known for his intellect, and James whose known for his emotional intelligence and empathy.

“I talk shit with my friends, it's like I'm wasting your honour” -> Regulus, who once would talk shit about James to his friends in the past, now realising how wrong he had always been. Now that it feels like he was wasting time and knowledge on him.

"Give you the silence that only comes when two people understand each other, Family that I chose now that I see your brother as my brother," -> James, whose usually loud and pretty boisterous, has learnt how to be comfortable with silence, now that silence is with Reg. James, whose brothers with Reg's brother.

"I'd give you my sunshine, Give you my best" -> Regulus, who isn't known for being romantic, or being one with emotions, giving it his all for James, because James can do it with ease.

"But the rain is always gonna come, If you're standing with me" -> Regulus, whose a bad rain cloud in his head, and James, who loves the rain. James who'll be the sun for Regulus, and stand through with him any and every bad day.

In their relationship together, they were able to find the peace they both searched for and needed. The kind of peace only they were able to give each other.
