Continuing along with my rainbow book recs with the color blue. I've read all of these except My Dear Henry. Each one has a special place in my heart.
Red White and Royal Blue was one of the first adult romances I read. Bookish and the Beast is my favorite of the Once Upon a Con series. Heartstopper is not only adorably wholesome, but it tackles questioning your sexuality, eating disorders, mental health, and so much more. Kiss Her Once for Me touches on liminal spaces and falling in love in those spaces. Check, Please! is a graphic novel about love and baking and hockey.
What's your favorite blue book?

“Snow days are a special kind of magic.”
- KISS HER ONCE FOR ME by Alison Cochrun
The protagonist of KISS HER ONCE FOR ME is Ellie Oliver, an animator out of a job whose star-crossed encounter with Jack Kim-Prescott results in an unexpected webcomic hit titled “Snow Day.” When Alison Cochrun, author of THE CHARM OFFENSIVE, reached out to me to ask me to sit in Ellie’s seat and put images to Alison’s opening pages, she didn’t have to ask twice! The book is hilarious and tender, and I can’t wait for everyone else to fall in love with it this holiday season. 💕
You can get a printed copy of this comic by preordering KISS HER ONCE FOR ME from East City BookShop and filling out Alison’s Pre-order campaign form. (You’ll also get the PDF bonus holiday chapter of THE CHARM OFFENSIVE!) KHOFM will be released in the USA on November 1st!

of all the books you read this year, which would you most like to see adapted for the screen (in an ideal world where the filmmakers Get It Right)? what would the soundtrack be?
this is such a basic answer in the year 2022 but tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow would be a very interesting miniseries. i think casting because of the time span of it tho would be hard. also, kiss her once for me would be a very cute 2023 sapphic holiday romcom movie! im so bad at soundtrack stuff tho. tmx3 would def have some good oldies and alternative music though, whereas khofm would have a lot of taylor and pop!

Happy holidays to those who celebrate!
Tumblr media
I read 'Kiss Her Once For Me' by Alison Cochrun in April and thoroughly enjoyed it. I know a lot of people had mixed feelings about it and the demi rep, but as someone who's been in very similar situations as Ellie, I thought the rep was rather good. I wouldn't have had a one-night-stand after knowing someone for 24 hours, but I've definitely gotten way too attached to people on an emotional level after spending hours with them.
The book talks a lot about liminal spaces. Ellie meets Jack on a snow day and they spend the whole day together. Having had several such days as a kid and in college (we were shut down for three solid days with nothing to do on campus), they feel like they're never going to end. A lot can happen on a snow day. Time seems both to stand still and move forward.
Anyway, I really liked this one and thought the rep was quite good. Just because it's not your experience doesn't mean it's not still good rep. It's also just a fun holiday story with a meet-cute, a fake marriage of convenience, and all the rom-com feels you could want.

Was April slow for anyone else, or just me?
April was pretty slumpy for me. I worked a lot and when I have busy work months I tend to read less because I'm exhausted. I started one physical book, but quickly lost interest. The two traditional books I read were via audio to and from my parents' house for a semi-spontaneous weekend trip.
A huge thanks to @bookwormextraordinaire for recommending This, You Protect by owlet on ao3. I had the absolute BEST time reading it and if you're at all a Stucky shipper/fan, please read it! I plan to read the rest of the Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail series.
