I don't know if I've seen this said yet, and maybe no one else other than me is thinking it, but here goes:

I can't wait to read Nora's The Sunshine Court. TSC is a lovely gift from an author ten years later, and she has every right to do with her characters as she wishes. They are hers, and we'll be lucky to see her vision of the characters she created a decade ago.

But it's also true that we have ten years of fandom making up for lost time. Ten years of running with the tiniest crumbs of canon to weave tales and art of Jean Moreau, Jeremy Knox, and the Trojans. So regardless if Nora makes Jerejean frenemies, platonic, romantic, or other - please don't remove your works just because they don't fit canon anymore.

There are tons of lovely fics, art pieces, podcasts and more out there about the romantic entanglements of Jerejean, Kevjean, Keremy, Kerejean, Laila/Dermott and more. There are multiple stories of growth and friendship and healing between Jean and Jeremy. Of reconciliation and forgiveness and discovery between Jean and Kevin. Of angst and loss and bittersweet dissonance between Kevin and Jean. Of found family and freedom and coming together despite your differences between Jean and the Trojans.

They are still good, they are still worthy, and they are still someone's favorite. Don't squash your creativity or become ashamed if your take on Jean, Jeremy, or the Trojans was different than what Nora pictured. You explored and created something wonderful in a time when there was no canon to follow. You should be proud of what you wrote (or drew or recorded). Just remember there were tons of folks out there that enjoyed them right along with you and would be greatly disappointed if you removed them just because you thought no one would appreciate them anymore.

(also the author's newest J/J fic , the end of the world, which has them as exes but pretending to be together for laila and Alvarez's wedding, is also a big fav of mine).

Forgive me, but may I speak plainly?

My initial response to this message was to LAUGH OUT LOUD + refer to you as a sweet summer child because, OHMYGOODNESS, Y E S, I read playing on WHILE IT WAS BEING UPDATED. Let me tell you: it was an E x P e R i E n C e. A *%!ING excruciating EXPERIENCE!

Before Red Rabbits was a fandom wide event, during the first seven+ months of 2018 many of us were riding the up, down + all around roller coaster 🎢 that was the WORK IN PROGRESS CALLED PLAYING ON. I can't remember which chapter prompted several readers to threaten mutiny because those two humans just.weren't.getting it. Thank goodness wisherejack l o v e d our crankiness, which made the whole experience even more fun.

So, yes, I read AND ABSOLUTELY LOVED playing on.

Even printed it out!

But, you're correct, I never bookmarked it, nor made a Tumblr post for it. Here's what I can offer you from an old post

playing on (M, 142k, 2018) - There’s a reason this is one of the most recommended JereJean works: it’s so damned good. @wilsherejack writes Exy games exquisitely well, her writing is economical + she knows how to write a slow burn, that’s for sure! Plus, there are playlists for the work and...another favourite aspects of her writing...most of the characters are people of colour.

Like:

Andrew trolling Aaron for no apparent reason

Allison posting pictures with the foxes except they all look hungover and she looks like she just walked out of a model shoot

The whole Andreil being perceived in media

They would have a legit fandom

Think of the level of reach they have on here now as fictional characters. If they were real OH MY GOD. Imagine the power they’d hold

There would be so many ships it’d be hard to keep track of.

Kevin drooling over Jeremy cuz he’s Lowkey crushing but not rly Bc Jean would kill him

Chapter 2 - Always the Bridesmaid.

A/N: It’s a fiction story an idea I had a while ago but I had to many fanfics in progress to ever start this. I’ve tried to add a it of humour to this fic as it seems to get a good reception. I hope you like it!

I will tag those who seemed interested in the meet the characters chapter as I don’t want to annoy people with tags! But if you would like to be added just let me know!

"Follow me," she tells him as she makes her way towards her station area.

She offers him a seat, "so, what happen to your barber?"

He looks up at her in the mirror, "well, that's no way to try and keep new clients," he smirks at her.

"Actually, I always take an interest when I get a new client. Like why did you change barbers? I mean you could have left for anything...you didn't like the last cut they gave you, or you left without paying..." she raises a brow at him.

He chuckles, "So, I strike you as the kinda guy that will leave without paying, huh? But no, it was neither of those. My barber was booked up, and Alec speaks so highly of you, so I thought why not?"

"Well, talk about pile on the pressure!" she laughs as she throws the gown over him, "I'm sure you can rise to the challenge," He winks, making Laila blush as she shook her head at him.

"So, what do you want done to your mop?" she asks as she takes a look at his hair, "My mop? Really? You know your customer service is....outstanding. Anyway, I was thinking just a trim. So not too much off," he smirks.

She picks up her scissors and comb and starts combing through his hair, "no work today?" she asks making small talk, like she does with all her clients. "Yeah, I have two new clients in this afternoon actually. What gym do you go to?" he has noticed he clearly workouts. "I don't!" she flatly tells him.

He looks at her in the mirror, "like hell you don't!" he wasn't suppose to say that out loud, but it came out before he could stop it. She laughs at him, "what's that suppose to mean?" she questions him wondering if he has been checking her out.

He tries to find the words, "well...you clearly do something?" She rolls her eyes at him, "I do, but I hate gyms. I run every morning."

"What's wrong with gyms?" he asks pretending to be offended.

She looks up from cutting his hair, "Hey, just each to their own right?" she smiles.

His eyes connect with hers in the mirror for a few seconds before he looks away, "nah, you aren't getting away with that! What is wrong with gyms?"

"You aren't going to let this be, are you....?" She sighs, "I'm just not a fan of sweaty, smelly gyms. I like to run outdoors and look around. I hate running on a machine watching TV its just not for me," she gets him to tilt his head to the side, "I get it." he says softly.

She continues to cut his hair while they continue chatting, she puts down the scissors and comb, "what do you think?" she asks.

He has a closer look in the mirror running his hands through his hair, "it looks awful!" he baits her, when he looks up at her, her facial expression is blank..maybe he shouldn't have joked about that, "just joking! Quick question do I get mates rates?" he chuckles. She shook her head not believing the nerve of this guy, "you've got to be a mate first!" she smirks. "That's cold!" he grins.

"So, how do I get in contact for another appointment?" he asks, she knows exactly what he's getting at, "the number is on the front of the shop or there's this thing called Google, if you put the name in, the number should come up!" She's really not giving him an inch. "Well, thank you for that! I will consult this Google when I need another haircut" she lets out a laugh.

Laila walks him back to reception, "well, thanks for the haircut! See ya soon," he throws her a wink. "You are welcome! BYE!" she says as she makes her way back to her station, leaving him with Lilly at the desk.

Later Laila gets home from work when she hears her phone ping.

Laila giggled at his boldness, she hadn't even seen him pick up one of her business cards.

She knows there isn't any point in arguing. Plus what's one date? A night off cooking if it doesn't work out right?! She thought to herself.

She needs to decide what to wear. She would normally ask Remy for his advice, but as its Alec's friend she couldn't ask him as it would get back to Alec then Harry.

Although Laila is a bit worried about this date she's a little excited too, but then guilt sets in. She feels like she's betraying Josh, it's been eight years now, but it still hurts. Can she really go on this date? She decides to wait until tomorrow to see what Nikki thinks.

After work Laila stops at the shops on the way home and grabs some pizzas and a few snacks for tonight.

Later Laila is trying on the fifth dress, she does a spin, "what about this one?" Nikki looks over to her, her eyes light up, "that's the one! You look FIT in blue! He'll have trouble keeping his hands off you!"

"Nikki!!!" Laila rolls her eyes at her, "so, are we going with this one?" Nikki has a mouthful of pizza, "Jesh, pofect!" she says with her mouthful. "Leave some for me will ya!" Laila jokes trying to get out of the dress and back into her pjs.

Nikki passes her a glass of Prosecco as she flops down on the bed next to her, taking a slice of pizza, "have you cleared the cobwebs?" she wiggle's her eyebrows at her.

"Cobwebs?" Laila's confused, "You know...like down there," Laila's mouth falls open, "you said the three date rule still applies!" Nikki howls with laughter, "it does, but you still need to keep your bush in check...you never know what might happen."

"Oh god! Stop it! I don't even know if I remember how to do that...." Laila takes deep breaths, "do you think Josh..." Nikki cuts her off, "stop! He would want you to be happy and to go on this date, get yourself out there. Let yourself be loved...I'm not saying Harry could be the one you fall in love with but you need to open yourself up to it,"

"You're, so in the wrong career!" Laila says, shoving her, "Nah...I'm not! Hairdressers are councillors too, just cheaper ones and you get a haircut too!" Both women laugh.

Laila has just arrived at work that Friday morning when her phone beeps.

She couldn't believe her friend. But she had a day full of clients to get through before tonight.

Friday evening, Laila was getting ready for her date with Harry. She text him earlier with her address, after that, there was no going back, this was it. She looks herself over in the mirror one more time, "you've got this! It's just one date that could lead to nothing or it could lead to something?" She talks to herself trying to calm her nerves, "but am I ready for something?" She asks.

Buzzzzzzzz! Buzzzzzzzzzzz!

The buzzer to her flat went off...crap he's here!!! No turning back now...well, unless I don't answer the door? No, I can't do that! She grabs her bag and coat and makes her way downstairs.

"Heya, you alright?" She looks up at him as she's throwing on her coat he gave her a grin that makes her tummy flutter. She offers one back, "Hey yeah, not bad you?"

"Great thanks, shall we get going," he leads her to a waiting taxi.

The taxi takes them through to central London the pair catch up on what they have been doing since the Stag weekend, "where are we going?" Laila turns towards him, "you'll find out in a bit," he throws her a wink with a cheesy grin, Laila rolls her eyes at him.

It's not long before she finds out when they pull up to the Shard, "here we are!" he gets out and holds out a hand to help her out of the car, "I've haven't been up there," she tells him.

"I picked a good place for dinner?" he says as he opens the door for her, "maybe, but I do have a fear of heights," she lies unbeknown to Harry, who had a worried look on his face, "oh shit! Sorry! We could go somewhere else?" he looks really concerned, Laila actually feels bad for teasing him.

She lets out a laugh, "I was joking, but that was sweet that you were willing to change the plan at the drop of a hat!" He squeezes his eyes shut before opening them with a smirk on his face, "you know I'm so going to get you back for that, right!" he calls over to her as she makes her way to the lift.

"Do your worst!" She cocks a brow at him.

Their table is right by the window overlooking the view of Tower Bridge.

Laila takes off her coat finally showing off her blue lacy dress, "fuck!" Harry mutters, "Pardon?" Laila looks at him, "Erm...Wow, you look stunning. Not that you didn't before you took off your coat," she blushes, "well, you look like you scrub up well too without your coat." he chuckles "Thanks."

Laila looks at the window at the view, "you know they call this the golden mile!" He looks thrown, "this part of the river," she nods towards the river Thames.

"Really? Where did you hear that?" He asks her seeming interested, "oh, for my Mum's birthday, my brothers and I booked her a river cruise to Hampton Court for her and my Dad. She asked the captain if they would see the Tower Bridge and the o two arena, he said no as that was in the opposite direction and that they weren't going along the golden mile." she looks over to him, he is just staring at her. Great I've bored him!

"I never knew that, have you been to any of the famous sights here?" He asks. OK maybe I haven't bored him...yet! "oh god! Now you're asking..erm...I've been on the eye, in the arena for a show, been in the Globe theatre, in the Gherkin and now dinner in the Shard...what about you?" she looks over to him, he has been hanging on her every word he is about to answer when their interrupted by the waitress. She takes their order and rushes off to the kitchen.

"What have I seen? I have done, all those you have done, but I’ve climbed over the arena.." he tells her.

"Whoa! How was that?" She asks him, shocked, "it was good, not as scary as I thought, though..." 

"I'm kinda envious right now!" she laughs, "Something you have to do! So yeah, I've been to the Tower of London too and the Sky gardens." he tells her, "Sky gardens?" She asks, "Yeah, you see that building over there next to the Gherkin..the odd shaped one!" he points put the window over to the other side of the river.

"That place that looks like a computer tower?" She looks, he chuckles, "yeah, I suppose it does look like a computer tower. That’s one way to describe it,"

After dinner and a few drinks they get another taxi back to Laila's flat, Harry tells the taxi driver to wait while he walks her to her door.  She turns to him, "thank you for tonight. It has been fun!" as she turns she wasn't expecting him to be so close. "It has been amazing and I hope we do it again," he smiles, "yeah, It wouldn't be so bad to do it again!" she jokes.

He smirks making her weak, she really wants to kiss him. Is that second date etiquette? She's confused what to do...she's brought back to reality when his lips meet hers...

Honestly, even thogh 2020 was kinda shitty in general, it was a really good writing year for me-I finally got out of my uni burnout after writing my dissertation in 2019 and other coursework and wrote some of my favourite things. Here we go!

Phantoms In the Dark: Coming in at number one, to absolutely nobody's surprise. This fic...what can I say about this fic? It is my BABY. I came up with the idea back in April last year, I think? And I spent pretty much the next four months working exclusively on it. (Yeah I had an issue with procrastination and most of it got written when I fell down the stairs and was bedridden for a month, but I digress). I love historical AU's and there aren't nearly enough in the ML fandom so I decided to write my own and honestly 30k might not be a lot to some people but considering its the first chaptered story I've extensively planned and completed instead of abandoned, I'm pretty goddamn proud of it. Personally, I think it's some of my best work, and though it didn't get as much hype or attention as I wanted it to, it's starting to gain some now and I'm just glad its out there for people to read because I love it so much and also because of lines like this:

“You are the most extraordinary woman I have ever met,” he murmured, pulling back. His eyes were hooded, dark with desire. “And I love you.” Chat smiled suddenly, so brightly it made her heart skip a beat. “I don’t think I shall ever tire of saying that.” He leaned down to peck her lips once, “my darling,” twice, “my lady,” three times more, smiling against her lips, “...my love. ”

(Probably one of my favourite lines in this story are the last three sentences of chapter 12 but in the interest of spoilers, I won't put them here lol. Ch12 is actually FULL of some of my best writing I reckon. I mean I made people cry so...)

Ladybug Luck? What's That? : This is pure crack I love it so much. I wrote this after me and @rosekasa first bonded over ML Bollywood headcanons and the gamla scene from K3G just wouldn't leave my head until I wrote it. I wrote this instead of sleeping after iftar and posted it jUST before going downstairs for sehri lmao

Pink: An experiment in writing a story with no dialogue. I just really like this because it's just so SOFT and sweet adrinette

our eyes speak (but on our lips is silence): Wrote this for Alizeh's birthday and also because I watched Laila Majnu again and the song that inspired it is just so good. This also then spawned my series on ao3 Hanaa's Bollywood Playlist because I kept! getting! inspired! by! songs! and now here we are. I really like this, wasn't sure about it at the time but I love experimenting with different narrative styles and having moments in the present interspersed with lines of dialogue from a previous conversation between the two was really fun. Especially because I had to figure out how to have the scenes correspond to the dialogue lmao i spent so long working it out.

Exposed: Love me a good identity reveal and this was really fun to write as well, even if it is angsty as HECK. Pretty sure I wrote this in a couple of hours I honestly don't even remember much except just listening to Ishaqzaade on repeat while I wrote lol. One of my FAVOURITE tropes is when Adrien and Marinette don't know each other as civilians so then I thought 'ok what if they had a public identity reveal and have to hide out now, except they don't know each other'. And this was born.

“That’s not-” he stumbles over his words, covering her hand with his own. “That’s not why I do it.” At her questioning look, he elaborates “my identity doesn’t matter—everyone knows who I am anyway but...yours-” he licks his lips “your name belongs to you. I won’t hear it from anyone else.”

“You don’t have to tell me!” Adrien hurries to reassure her “I just-don’t want to take that away from you.”

This Red Love: My first enemies au! And probably my best as well. I love the movie Ram Leela so much, and the lyrics to Laal Ishq are so beautiful I just HAD to write something so we get this nice lovers to enemies to lovers fic!

Memory: I wrote this when I was feeling like shit and was being all lame and broody, which I think kind of comes across in the text. I love reading chat blanc fics and fix it's and what have you but here I just wanted to explore how Chat must have felt being completely alone with the knowledge that he caused the destruction of earth.

Wish: Memory walked, so that Wish could run. I closed out the year with a healthy dose of angst but I still really love this because I needed to exercise my angst writing muscles after writing fluff for so long but also because I just love really getting into the minds of these grief stricken characters and seeing how they'd react to scenarios. I also cried like a baby when I wrote this, especially a scene in the last flashback which I had the idea for and IMMEDIATELY decided to put in even though the fic was plenty sad already. What can I say, I'm mean like that 😈

you back up because you feel sick and full and light. her eyelashes are long and glimmering with tears.

you shake your head because you know. you put your gloves back on and squeeze her arm once, kiss her cheek.

you head back inside and find shirl, who is sober because she drove. you’re trying not to cry and she’s your big sister so she can tell.

‘did something happen?’ she puts her arm around your shoulders, worried, ready to be angry at the drop of a hat, leads you outside toward the car.

i kissed a girl for the first time. she believes in a god i don’t, i won’t ever. she thought it was wrong. i want to do it again. i wish i could talk to mom.

you swallow and your, ‘no, i’m just drunk,’ comes out roughly, and it’s not convincing at all but shirl nods, makes sure you’re buckled up, drives you home.

nell hears you come in, or she had another nightmare, or maybe both. shirl is helping you into bed and you think you probably smell like beer but your little sister smiles and when you put your arms out and nod she climbs into bed with you.

she doesn’t say anything, just wipes under your eyes and curls up into your chest. you put your palms along her back because she feels happy—you make her happy—and you take a deep breath and fall asleep.

Martha’s was a cozy little coffee shop that always smelled of honey, lilacs and something that couldn’t be described as anything less than home.And that’s what it was to Jeremy, who had spent his childhood sat on a stool at the tiny bar, coloring in the patterns of the menus, or watching his mother creating the most beautiful cakes and pastries that he had ever seen.

The place was filled with good memories and everyone who came in could sense the atmosphere of peace that seemed to fill the soft light falling in through lacy curtains at any time of day. In fact, multiple patrons had stated that they came in for exactly this, for a break from their everyday stress, to just grab a coffee and absorb whatever magic the smell of Martha’s cakes emitted and it was something Jeremy’s mother was very proud of.It was also something Jeremy was very proud of, and the reason for him to put his all in making the customers’ time there worthwhile.He never thought that one day, doing that would be a challenge.

Well obviously I love Bitney, I love their dynamics as friends, and in fiction I enjoy writing them because they have so many differences, yet similarities. I mean, Bianca’s my favourite queen 

I’m actually a big pearlet fan, I’ve written a few with them and I tend to use them as a second pairing when needed. I think its more so to do with Violet though, I really like her, and I think the way I write her she works best with Pearl.

Friendships, I love Bianca and Adore, Bob and Bianca, Katya and Violet, and Alaska, Courtney and Willam.
