NIGHTWISH Singer And SABATON Drummer Welcome Their Second Child
Tumblr media
NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen and SABATON drummer Hannes Van Dahl have welcomed their second child, a daughter named Lucy.
Jansen and Van Dahl already have a six-year-old daughter named Freja, who was born on March 15, 2017.
The Dutch-born vocalist revealed the news in a social media post earlier today (Friday, October 20). She shared a photo of her, Hannes, Freja and Lucy holding hands, and she wrote: "There she is! With great happiness we can announce the birth of our second daughter Lucy! Big sister Freja is delighted with our dark haired little girl too!
"Health is not a given fact, and so it's humbling to report that both our baby girl as mom are in a great one! We are enjoying these special moments to the fullest and ask for understanding of our privacy in this intimate time! Big thanks for all the love and support we received during the pregnancy! We have now welcomed our dear Lucy into this beautiful world".
Shortly before Freja was born, Hannes was asked by Spain's Metal Journal whether his family situation would have an impact on his ability to tour with SABATON. Hannes said: "Well, you know, as far as I'm concerned, nothing will really change, 'cause this is what I do, an this is… this is what I do to make a living. People have had kids before in this business. So, to stop any worries — 'cause I know a lot of people are worried [about me] quitting the band — I will stay in the band. And as far as I can say, when it's time, I need to go and be there with my family. But when I've done that, I'm going back to touring. So I won't leave. I will be there."
Jansen herself had spoken about the challenges of raising a child while being in a touring band like NIGHTWISH. She told Finland's Radio Rock in 2016: "Of course, it's a very challenging combination, and I was very happy that the way [NIGHTWISH is] today — or, actually, have always been — it's a very open group; we can talk about things. And the guys, actually, were curious. A few months ago, we started talking about it, like, 'So, 2017… How about kids? Yeah?' So it's great to think about things together: how can we combine it? Also 'cause my partner is in a successful band, touring a lot. Yeah, then you need the cooperation of the people that you are family with also. So I am not afraid that won't work. It will be a challenge, for sure, but, yeah, a little SABATON or NIGHTWISH daycare program sounds lovely, doesn't it? [Laughs]"
Jansen also dismissed rumors that she would leave the band after welcoming her first child. She told Mariskal Rock TV: "No, I won't [quit NIGHTWISH]. I love this way too much; don't worry. You don't even have negative speculations one way or another. Things are great, and let's keep on doing this forever."
NIGHTWISH played its last concert before its current break from touring on June 17 at Lemonsoft Stadion in Vaasa.
In November 2022, Floor revealed that she was "cancer free" after undergoing surgery to have a tumor removed following a breast cancer diagnosis.
In April, NIGHTWISH surprised fans by announcing that the band was not going to be playing any live shows for the foreseeable future and would be not be touring in support of the group's next studio album, which is tentatively due in 2024.
Floor's debut solo album "Paragon", arrived in March.
As part of NIGHTWISH, Jansen has landed two number one albums in Finland, and Top Five albums in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
Born in the Netherlands, Jansen joined her first band, one of the world's first symphonic metal bands, AFTER FOREVER, when she was only 16 years old. The group went on to release five albums from 2000 to 2007, before they broke up in 2009.
Jansen's next band, REVAMP, released two albums in 2010 and 2013, before she joined NIGHTWISH as a full-time member. NIGHTWISH's first album with Jansen as the lead singer was 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", which landed in Top 10s around the world. This was followed by 2020's "Human. :II: Nature." , which was also an international success.
Jansen has toured extensively with the band and appeared on three of NIGHTWISH's live albums "Showtime, Storytime", "Vehicle Of Spirit" and "Decades: Live In Buenos Aires".
In 2019, Jansen participated in the popular Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers" where she scored a big hit with "Phantom Of The Opera" together with Henk Poort. She was recognized with a Dutch Popprijs award — a prestigious accolade for artists that has made important contributions to Dutch music. In the same year, her first solo tour sold out in less than 24 hours.
Jansen performed live with NIGHTWISH for the first time on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington following the abrupt departure of the band's lead singer of five years, Anette Olzon. Jansen officially joined NIGHTWISH in 2013.

Floor Jansen cancels shows, reveals she collapsed after Nightwish concert: "my health is not good enough to responsibly perform"
Floor Jansen has been forced to cancel two upcoming gigs after falling ill following Nightwish's show in Finland in June
Tumblr media
Nightwish singer Floor Jansen has been forced to cancel two imminent solo shows, revealing that she collapsed following Nightwish's recent concert in Vaasa, Finland. The show, which took place on June 17 at the Lemonsoft Stadion, was the final stop on Nightwish's latest European tour after the band cancelled a planned gig in Oslo that was due to take place a few days later. Jansen herself was due to play two shows in the Netherlands on July 6 and 8.
"Dear everyone," the singer states on social media.
"With great regret, I have to cancel my shows on the 6th and 8th of July. The reason is that my health is not good enough to responsibly perform the shows. I became exhausted after my last show with Nightwish in Finland. So much so that I collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. There, the doctors determined that my baby is healthy and I don't have any serious illnesses. However, I was so fatigued that continuing to work is no longer an option. The show with Nightwish in Oslo had to be canceled as a result of this. That was 3 weeks ago. I had hoped that I would be able to rebuild enough energy to still perform those wonderful solo shows in the Netherlands. But unfortunately, that's not the case. To ensure the health of both myself and my unborn baby, I need to rest and focus entirely on my recovery and the final phase of my pregnancy.
"Canceling a show breaks my heart! It's a decision I definitely don't take lightly. But I hope to welcome you back to one of my shows in the near future! In good health. For now, I will temporarily bid farewell to the public stage and promise to take good care of myself and my little one.
"Love, Floor."
Jansen revealed her pregnancy in March, months after confirming that she was now cancer-free following a breast cancer diagnosis last year. In April, Nightwish announced that they would be retiring from touring for the foreseeable future, stating: "The reasons for this decision are personal, but, we all agree, vital to the wellbeing and future of the band."

Hello secret and please... Might we lowly peasants have some... Excerpts from your godly fics... Please...
Well, uh... to be honest I don’t have that much written but I do have a bunch of fics that are in very early stages and I love to ramble about stuff I write, so...
This excerpt is from a fic I’ve given up on where LSP has to go home to attend to her queen duties, leaving behind her few precious friends and Lemongrab as well, and since her dear sweet boyfriend misses her greatly, they keep in touch through texting. Except then there’s a storm and LG has a panic attack and LSP literally drops everything to go back and see if he’s okay. Like I said, I’ve given up on it and probably won’t ever finish it, the only real reason I’m sharing it is because LSP kinda roasts Bubblegum :D
———
“Aw, well I’m gonna miss ya’ll too, guys,” LSP smiled at them endearingly.
“But you know who will be the saddest when you leave?” Marceline grinned and sang slowly: “Your citrus boyfriend~”
“Oh here we go,” Bubblegum mumbled under her breath.
“Oh yeah, how did he take the whole queen–from–another–dimension thing when you told him?” Finn asked. He was on good terms with Lemongrab for a pretty solid time now and he was kind of concerned about his relationship with someone like LSP. Not that he didn’t like her, but both her and the earl disliked not having things their way and that could turn out to be a topic of arguments. Then again, they seemed to be right for each other in many ways and Finn hasn’t actually ever seen them argue. As far as his knowledge went, the pair had had a date probably every day of the last week in an attempt to mentally prepare for a long-distance relationship.
“He like, totally understood,” the purple cloud of a princess said with relief apparent in her voice. “He even promised me advice on ruling and stuff!”
Bubblegum cringed a little but tried to keep her composure. She failed, all three pairs of eyes noticed and were now looking at her rather scolding-like. “What?” she asked. “The Earldom of Lemongrab isn’t exactly the best example of how to rule!”
“Well, like, I mean,” LSP murmured, “neither is you experimenting on him, but here we are, girl.”
———
BOOM get rekt Bubblegum >:)
Ok another thing I’m really excited about even though I don’t have much to show of it is “The Battle over the Planet Lemongrab,” which is kinda inspired by Wander Over Yonder in a way. Basically it’s an AU in which the series happens not only on Earth but numerous different planets, so like... Lumpy Space is actually a planet, and the Earldom of Lemongrab is the Planet of Lemongrab, and an entire planet is called Ooo, stuff like that. So it’s kinda a space adventure!
And in this AU, Bubblegum is basically the overlord of a part of space. Guess it’s like a Star Wars imperium, but usually they’re the good guys.
Okay, and Princess Bubblegum of course needs armed forces to keep all the planets under her control in check, and LSP, believe it or not, joined this army. She was asked to find a job so she decided she could as well get some adventure out of it, and now she works for Bubblegum as a space assassin, basically. Now bear with me because it’s about to get crazier.
Lemongrab was supposed to be PB’s heir, right, and when she deemed him a failed experiment, she sent him off to his own (pretty desolate) planet, later she made him his brother Lemonsoft, and stuff’s good for a while before it’s not so good anymore.
In the end though, both Lemongrabs survive, that’s the big difference. Lemongrab lives on as a terrifying dictator that rebelled against Bubblegum and declared independence of his planet, and Lemonsoft joins Bubblegum’s force in search of making himself tougher in what could be describe as a desire to feel stronger.
Note: he has a really cool mask over the bitten-off part of his face (kinda like Sally Face if any of you know that game), except it has a prosthetic eye and everything, making him partly a cyborg. He bonds over this with Finn later, while LSP doesn’t like the mask that much because it reminds her of her past crush on Finn.
Well, all of this happens before the actual story. Where we actually meet our main characters is when Bubblegum calls LSP and LG2 to her office and gives them the mission of assassinating the original Lemongrab. Lemonsoft is reportedly chosen for the mission because even though it’s horrible that he has to kill his brother, he’s the only one who knows his castle’s layout and can use the environment properly. LSP is chosen because, well, Bubblegum doesn’t trust that her son can really kill his twin and someone has to do it. Also she is immune to a lot of magic stuff and that helps.
Before they even get to the planet they encounter a bajillion problems, bounty hunters, laser fights, all sorts of sci-fi space craziness combined with the Adventure Time characters and environments, all of that fun.
But I only have the skeleton of that story. The only piece of actual writing I have is.... this:
———
*they end up sleeping at an inn*
“So.” LSP started a small fire in the fireplace and carefully set a can of beans above it. She has been informed earlier that the inn had no food left after their king’s latest rampage and it honestly annoyed her more than anything. But now her dinner was cooking and she shot her partner a look of curiosity. “All of this is a family drama to you?”
“Mmm,” he nodded. “The Earl of Lemongrab is my brother.”
“Woah, like, for real? That’s… that’s… sheesh.”
“Yeah. I actually have this,” he pointed at the metal part of his head, “because of him.”
“Damn.”
“Indeed.” He would be most comfortable with leaving the conversation there, but he wasn’t allowed to.
“How did it even come to that?” she inquired.
“How did what come to what?”
“You know.” She looked at him like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “These types of people always have tragic backstories. At least you definitely have one, and your brother is either a villain, or–”
“He’s not a villain!” her partner retorted immediately, but when he saw her jump, his anger quickly deflated. “He’s just...” wrapping his arms around himself, Lemonsoft sighed. “He must’ve been so lonely these past years without me.”
Silence spread through the room then, and LSP found herself unable to break it. What happened to the brothers?
———
Yeah, what happened indeed. We might never find out because I’m a procrastinator and a lazy moron. But oh, well.
Since this is getting kinda long and because I only have a few other ideas written out I’m gonna leave it at that. Two exerpts are fine right?? Right????
What I actually think I might be finishing soon is a small fic about yet another AU, though I’m very fond of this one. So look forward to that!

NIGHTWISH Plays Last Concert In Finland Before Planned Break From Touring
NIGHTWISH played its last concert in Finland before its upcoming break from touring on Saturday, June 17 at Lemonsoft Stadion in Vaasa. Fan-filmed video of the performance can be seen below.
NIGHTWISH has only one more live appearance on its schedule: Thursday, June 22 at the Tons Of Rock festival in Oslo, Norway.
This past April, NIGHTWISH surprised fans by announcing that the band was not going to be playing any live shows for the foreseeable future and would be not be touring in support of the group's next studio album, which is tentatively due in 2024.
NIGHTWISH's statement read as follows: "As the 'Human :ll: Nature - World Tour' is drawing to a close, we feel now is the time to tell you of our plans for the next phase in our journey.
"After the planned shows for June 2023 we will be 'hanging up our spurs' for an indeterminate time, as far as live concert performances go, and won't be touring the next album.
"The reasons for this decision are personal, but, we all agree, vital to the wellbeing and future of the band. Be assured that we still love working together, and this decision has nothing to do with Floor's [Jansen, NIGHTWISH singer] pregnancy or our other individual projects.
"However, an album of 12 new songs will see bright daylight in 2024, as will 3 music videos! The band is positively hyped beyond words over this new upcoming musical adventure.
"Stay tuned for updates from our legendary NIGHTWISH band camp & studio this summer!"
Last December, NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen said the band's upcoming follow-up to 2020's "Human. :II: Nature." will be the third part of a trilogy that began with 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" album. He told Metal Hammer: "I immediately knew after getting that album ['Endless Forms Most Beautiful'] done that, 'Okay, we have to do more songs about this, because there's so much more to explore and tell the world. We're not done with this.' And the same thing happened after 'Human. :II: Nature.'; we're still not done. So let's do one more. At least one more.
"In a way, [the next album] is the third part of a trilogy, which started with 'Endless Forms…' and then 'Human. :II: Nature.' There are some major surprises there again, but it feels like a natural continuation to 'Human. :II: Nature.'"
According to Tuomas, NIGHTWISH's next LP will cover previously uncharted ground while continuing in the more cinematic style that has characterized some of the band's recent efforts..
"The wonderful thing is that we have had the demo [of the album] done since last spring. So it's been done for six months now. We really have all the time in the world to go through it all, and we have had a such great time with the band, just listening to the demo in our hotel rooms — me singing the lyrics and the melodies to Floor [Jansen, vocals]. She's recording them and then she's seeing them and throwing ideas to each other."

okay but seriously though, there were WAY too many holes in the Lemongrab plot in Lemonhope Pt. 1&2
First off, why did Lemonhope turn out to be such a narcissistic assholem but still somehow called the "hero" because he defeated someone already in a great amount of pain?
Second, why was Lemongrab so easily overpowered by his children, when he is shown to have literal superstrength in other accounts (I.E. Mystery Dungeon)?
Third, and the one that pisses me off the most, why did Princess Bubblegum not just create more candy biomass as she did before and save them both, if the explosion was supposed to be a "reset", he could've gotten along just fine with Lemonsoft. Especially since he only acted this way after she tested on him in ETDBIDK. Another note, she could've done a MUCH better job putting him back together, used a lighter thread, and tried to even him out. Instead she showed us how much he is simply considered a burden to her as she sloppily placed him together, refused to think long enough to bring his brother back, and left him there. (I'm assuming she left him alone there with the other lemon creatures, or took the creatures away, because she said she would want Lemonhope to stay there while Earl recovered, and that he would return to being lonely.)
I hope to see more of Softy, not immediately of course, but sooner or later, Earl is going to get lonely again, and wonder what happened to his brother and children. This could lead to conflict and PB taking a portion of Lemongrabs/Lemonsofts brain and re-creating Softy, or Earl going bat shit insane because he realized he killed his brother and is now literally half his brother.
Also, will Earl be permanently scarred? Will he appear in more episodes now? You would think if PB had taken him back to the castle with her, we would've seen him by now, the only other explanation is her keeping him locked up, away from everyone else. Which I don't put past her at all.

Imagine: Lemongrab the Third having guardian angels
Except I can’t decide which alternative is funnier
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, imagine LSP telling Lemongrab stuff like “if you go get a midnight snack right now. Who’s gonna stop you. Absolutely nobody.” And Lemonhope would yell at her to “stop trying to kill him, his digestive system isn’t even fully healed you moron”
But also it would make sense for the two Lemongrabs to be his pocket angel and devil. And it would mean he still gets to date LSP. Also: “Dear child, I bless thee with my self-confidence and calm nature.” “...okay thanks, what about you, Lemondevil?” “You get my screeching voice. Have fun.”
