minidura chapter 2 react (izaya has stopped functioning)
i already forgot what i named the last post whoops
anyway
Tumblr media
shizuo jumpscare
as a psychology student who is also taking sociology goddamn do i love the whole community aspect of durarara and the forms. wish i could start a festival in my town just by suggesting it online somewhere. it's so cool how you have no idea of the qualifications of the people you talk to (just like on tumblr except this is all ikebukuro people. and izaya)
i wonder if izaya being the only member of the cast (afaik) to not live in ikebukuro is symbolic of how he feels has to distance himself from the chaos at least a little bit in order to not get swept up in it himself. it's like a self restraint type thing
that's probably really obvious though forgive me im still dutsing off my character analysis lack-of-skills ANYWAY
Tumblr media
tom is such a malewife honestly
i dont think ive ever had chocolate bananas before. huh. strawberries sure bananas nah
Tumblr media
he looks so cute in that last panel ghghghjhhrhghgghjf
i dont get to see enough of normal laid back shizuo behavior with all the shizaya art i look at lmfAOO
i swear to god if celty's in a kimono 💀 shinra is about to be the most annoying man alive
Tumblr media
stupid puns my beloved
Tumblr media
the way tom's eyes are drawn in that last panel reminds me of like. american cartoon but i cant put my finger on it
is it arnold from the magic school bus or is it arthur from arthur. who knows
"you absolutely cant get into a fight today" ah so the peace wont last. damn
Tumblr media
EGGPLANTZAYA
i cant wait for izaya to show up this chapter and annoy the living hell out of shizuo
maybe i should make eggplantzaya my profile picture (i wont because im too attached to rantaro. not even him as a character just the profile picture) (also because i cant remember where i found the profile picture and im too scared to let it go)
i see that blurb with the really cute izaya picture on the left and im assuming it's just a "this is orihara izaya btw. he's really annoying and shizuo hates him for ruining his life" type thing but god i wish i could read it anyway ill take any crumbs
Tumblr media
HERE HE COMES!!!!!!!
oh nvm he's getting shafted for now, we transition to-
Tumblr media
WHAT DID I FUCKING TELL YOU
celty in a kimono is inevitable. you cannot escape
she is cute though <3 this might be her first festival since she's irish too damn
that just reminded me god i wish celty talked in a super thick irish accent. some people have already mentioned that but im reiterating it because maybe some abridged series will consider it
Tumblr media
wait oh my god is this gonna be another hotpot party type "izaya organized all this because he's lonely and wants an excuse to hang out with people that tolerate him" thing. amazing wonderful i love the izaya slander going on in this manga today
and i was about to say "oh i guess that wasnt izaya's silhouette in the shizuo-tom panel" but he's holding a chocolate banana 💀rip tom's pay i guess
i can imagine how that went but i dont think ill have to imagine for much longer
Tumblr media
oh yeah it was right in the next panel lmAO at least you got free food izaya dont complain
"he looks like he's having fun" awwwwwwwwwwwww nothing more fun than ticking off shizuo and not getting hurt in the process
just realized he has the constantly closed eyes pff gin ichimaru lookin edgy ass bitch
he opens his eyes like it's a dramatic supervillain reveal but it's really just him being lonely. thanks for always exposing him shinra mwah
Tumblr media
WHY IS HE ACTING SO EVIL. doing the fucking arm spread like this is a bad thing what is wrong with him
i love how mikado shinra and celty are looking at each other like "this fucking guy. cant have one normal conversation"
Tumblr media
PFFFFFFFFFFFF
i know shinra is laughing his ass off beneath those glasses rn
izaya's face is amazing actually. you know that one scene in bungou stray dogs wan where atsushi gets dazai a gift and dazai glitches out and stops processing information because he doesnt know how to handle appreciation. this is literally that scene
huh. now i understand why durarara and bsd always get recommended together
Tumblr media
KILL HIM MIKADO!! KILL HIM WITH KINDNESS HE'S ALREADY HALFWAY TO HELL
literal proof that izaya ceases to function when someone actually likes him. idc that this isn't canon it's canon because i say so
(side note MAN did they have to give airi noticable cleavage even in her chibi form. come on. you didnt do it for celty you dont have to do it to her 😭 the amount of fanservice with her drives me nuts in the main series)
Tumblr media
my man is BROKEN just look at him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
local gay baby realizes he accidentally made everyone happy. oops
walker and erika in the background too <3 they're so cute ugh
Tumblr media
YOU DUMBASS
i knew itd be another hotpot thing oh mygod he's so. fucking idiot you couldve just tagged along with them 😭
it's only once he imagines shizuo that he snaps too pffffffffft
also namie appearance!!!!!!! hope she appears more in future chapters
10/10 chapter would bully izaya again
Tumblr media
oops almost missed the ending drawing!! so cuteeee <3333

like to watch you suffer
Dream Team roomates x gn!reader Summary: Youre playing a scary game and your roommates come in to laugh at you support you. Warnings: swearing, shitty description of bloody/creepy things. lmk when you find any! A/N: just watched Tommy’s fnaf stream and i died. If you have any tips, requests or ideas, feel free to send them in :)
Starting up Twitch with hesitation as you check your subscriber count one last time to be sure. You reached your subgoal on your last stream and promised the chat to play a spooky game. Playing mostly family friendly games and usually with a group of friends, you weren’t exactly excited to be playing 2017′s Resident Evil 7. Clips from Jack and Felix only made you dread this moment even more. Appearantly your chat loves seeing you scared shitless.
You start your stream as you normally would: greating the chat, answering some dono’s. “I actually hate you guys for making me do this. But we’re gonna try it anyways. I have a slight idea what’s coming and am mentally not prepared, so let’s see how long I will last before crapping my pants.” You force a smile at your camera and start the game.
The first hour was doable, a couple of jumpscares and some bloody stuff. A few of the jumpscares made you squeal, while the disgusting cutscenes made you want to throw up. Losing your focus on the game as you read some of the dono’s. A lot of them were about the game and people wishing you a good stream. A couple of questions about the Dream Team popped up. “What is George up to? I think he might be streaming as well I’m not -” The loud noise in your headphones, accompanied by a bloody faces canabal with a chainsaw made you shriek, followed by a ton of swear words and you taking of your headphones, rolling your chair away from your desk.
As you sit a couple of feet away from your desk you hear a door closing and footsteps in the hallway. You open your door and call out. “Gogy?” Your chat can’t hear the boy answering you. “You busy? No? Want to join my suffering? Yeah ofcourse you do, bring a chair!” The dark haired boy walks into your room rolling his chair in, a tad too excited. Your chat went insane, seeing him come through the door.
“You already died? Damn, N/N.” He teased, sitting down next to you. His legs propped up on his chair, face popping in and out of the frame.
“Would you like to try, Gogy?” You mimicked his accent, causing George to lean back into his chair. “Alright, goodluck not dying.” He said in the saltiest voice he could. You put your headphones back on, plugging in a second pair for George and handing him the headphones. You continue playing the game, almost getting used to the disgustingness of the house.
“N/N, I have to agree with chat, seeing you being a scaredy cat is hilarious.” In the meantime you’re turning into Y/N “I am going to shit myself” Y/L/N. George just laughs at you while hanging out with the chat. Yet he too flinches at the jumpscares. “Guys, the reason you can’t see George right now is because he is a big pussy.” You laugh, recieving a soft punch to your arm in return.
Another half hour of you and George sitting on the edges of your chairs until Nick decides to have some fun. After hearing you yell a couple of times he’d tune into your stream. He waited for the right moment; you had just finished a cut scene and was wandering though the dark house that felt like a maze. The squeaky sound of the door opening made you lean back in your chair a bit more, as if something or someone would jump out of the room behind it.
The door behind you flew open with a loud bang, causing you and George to yielp. Followed by another jumpscare in the game. “Fuck you Sapnap, you little shit cunt fuck you-” You utter under your breath as you try your best not to die in game.
“Sapnap!” George whined. “What? I heard there was a party.” The boy stood in your doorframe, a cheeky grin covering his face. “Can I join?” He somewhat asked, already pulling out a chair to sit down besides you.
“Fine, but no more messing around or I’ll end the fucking stream guys.” Your chat excitedly greated him. Spamming you there will be a savepoint in a bit. “Alright guys I’m just gonna go for one more savepoint, if i don’t die from adrenaline overdose by then.”
The boys on your sides bickered while you were trying to find the way out. “Go left.” Nick hinted. “Don’t listen to him, N/N.” George told you. They were like some twisted kind of devil/angel pair on your shoulders. “Have you played this before Gogy?” Nick spat, looking over to the boy on the other side of you. “No, but they came from-” He tried to defend himself, before getting cut off. “That’s what I thought, leave it to the pro then.”
Trusting Nick’s gut you followed his instruction and went left. The sound of your footsteps are accompanied by heavy breathing, you look around with the little light you have. When you don’t immediatly die and thank Nick for the advice. A loud noice makes you turn around as you watch some creepy dolls fall down. “The sounds are honestly the creepiest thing about this game.” You say, continuing to walk around the room, looking for clues. Nick watches you, unbothered by the scary sounds as he doesn’t have any headphones on. “Chat why do you keep spamming ‘DEATH’? I’m not dying, I am clearly a pro.” You say proudly, not being as scared and jumpy as you had been. Yet the grin appearing on Nick’s face is telling you you should be. Moments later it became clear why. A loud screech, followed by one of the residents running towards you holding an axe and piercing the weapon through your chest.
The boy next to you dies of laughter, panting as he tries to catch his breath. “Your face- oh my god you face.” You shake your head at the boy. “Why did I even trust you in the first place. I thought you knew where the exit was.” You say, a tiny bit dissapointed in yourself for falling for it, but also laughing as George almost falls out of his chair from laughter. “Oh, but I do know where the exit is.” Nick teases. You look the boy dead in the eye and start debating whether or not to continue the game.
“100 subs and they’ll continue.” George tells your chat. “Guys, no-” It only took a couple of seconds until the counter was halfway there.
dreamwastaken has gifted 50 subs: go until the next savepoint
"Let’s go, N/N, you heard the big man.” You look straight into your camera and sigh. Alt-tabbing to swearword at Clay on Discord before going back to the game. “I hate every single one of those 50 subs and Dream. One more savepoint and that’s it!”
George nudges your arm, asking if Clay can join your little scary party. “Do I really need more critisism? What do we think chat? Spam 1 if you want Dream here, 2 if you don’t.” The chats start pouring in. “No, you’re supposed to spam 2 guys! Why aren’t you on my side. Argh, fine.” You shut your camera off and wait for Clay to come in. “No face reveal today guys.” George comments on your chat going crazy.
“You can sit on my lap Dream.” Nick said jokingly, tapping his lap. “I’d rather sit on George’s.” “No way.” The boys bicker back and forth.
“Dream, get out of the frame I’m turning my camera back on.” The tall guy settles on your bed, being able to see your monitor and the two guys next to you.
“Why do you keep dying, N/N?” He teases as you respawn in game.
“Think you can do better?” You ask, taking a right this time.
“I know I can.” You hear him mutter from the bed behind you.
You press pause, taking your hand of the controller. “Alright guys, you're all talk, why don’t you give it a try huh.”
“Cause we like watching you suffer.” Clay answers. You look over to your roommates, each and every one of them grinning at you.
With a loud sigh you continue playing the game, causing a lot of giggles and teasing as you almost have a heart attack. Nick and Clay keep their commentary coming as George mainly focusses on your chat. You get to the savepoint and finally end the stream.
Turning around in your chair so you face Clay. “I really hate you guys, that was the scariest shit I’ve ever played.”
George rests his arm on your shoulder. “No you don’t.”
“You love us.” Nick adds.

Some black youtubers I like you can support
So I’m not a very big blog. Obviously. But I figured what little influence I have I can use to direct people in this time to some underrated black creators I like since I spend all my time watching YouTube and feel free to add as always. Also this was originally supposed to be in order of sub count but that didn’t work out at all.
1. Jarvis Johnson.
Probably one of the most popular creators on this list with over 1 million subscribers but extremely funny and if you haven’t heard of him and you like comedic Cody Ko-esque commentary videos, go give him a sub. He’s reacted to many of the same channels Danny Gonzalez and Drew Gooden have such as Troom Troom and 5 Minute Crafts. He’s also a software engineer which is pretty badass.
2. Lana Summer.
Does mainly fashion and hair related videos but is very chill and easy to listen to. Sometimes I like to put on her videos while I’m doing things even though I 100% have straight hair and she does mostly curly hair tutorials. But she’s covered a large umbrella of beauty topics in her videos and if you’re the least bit feminine it’s highly possible she’s covered at least one topic that’ll be useful to you. She’s very pretty (lowkey crushing on her) and lovely and I enjoy her channel a lot.
3. The Curly Guy.
A highly underrated channel that does content similar to Lana’s but for guys! He’s a guy with long, curly hair and talks about how to take care of it. I am always here for nontoxic male positivity and getting more guys involved in taking care of their appearance. It’s very sweet to watch. He’s also reviewed bad hair products which we all like to watch bad reviews of things on YouTube, right, and once pierced his ears at home. So. Idk about you but that sounds great to me.
4. Jolie K.
We’ve got some black queer representation in here! She’s a queer woman who makes videos about queer women. She hasn’t uploaded in a minute but I think she’s still worth supporting. She’s done some cool story times about being gay as well as some beauty stuff.
5. Honest.
Honest is a drama channel run by a black guy who talks about drama between music artists and sometimes youtubers. He’s not only a black person in the drama side of YouTube but he’s a black man in the drama side of YouTube two demographics that feel excluded from that world. If you do like drama videos like Teaspill, it’s cool to support a POC in that world. I can’t say I agree with everything he says but that’s drama channels for you.
6. Ranting Minority.
This guy’s super new and super underrated! He makes spicy political content, is extremely eloquent and chill, which makes him good to listen to, and is a leftist. If you can’t stop watching left-tubers like I can’t, I would totally recommend this guy. He makes videos on racial and societal issues from a liberal and anti conservative perspective. He has less than a thousand subscribers, so I’d highly advise giving him a sub.
7. MacDoesIt
So this guy is also one of the more popular on here. Basically if you watch any LGBTQ+ content on YouTube at all he pops up. He’s like the Strange Æons of the mlm community in that respect. He’s super funny, does reaction videos, does some very comedic red carpet fashion reviews, just if you haven’t subbed to MacDoesIt, what are you doing?
8. Kat Blaque.
Kat Blaque has been under fire for certain opinions before, but all in all she’s a good leftist, political youtuber who is also a black trans woman. She does videos on LGBT+ issues, racial issues, lots of other things, and is a smart, beautiful lady. Basically you can’t be a political youtuber without being controversial so, decide for yourself if you wanna support her, I personally do. Also I am not a trans woman but I know trans women who have said she helped them figure out certain things, so that’s good.
9. Rickey Thompson
A black gay comedian who does story times and random funny videos. I also think he’s an ex viner. I’m only a comedic fan of this one but I do know he’s very handsome and I came from his LGBT+ story times. Just someone you might wanna check out. He’s kind of like Mac in some ways just like. Much chiller.
10. WiseJae
I love how this is a mix of semi popular youtubers and super obscure youtubers I like for very specific reasons. WiseJae is a very small youtuber with a little over a thousand subs last time I checked but she does videos about jobcorps and trade school and has recently started making videos about college. So basically. A cool guide for how to get your life started if you’re a young, low income adult or late teen. She’s also got a very pretty accent, soothing voice and . . . is just so fucking beautiful . . . so. So gorgeous. So like. If you’re like. 18. And you’ve been thinking about a place like jobcorps but don’t know how to start. I would say her channel would be the first place I’d go for information.
11. NotYourMommasHistory
I actually love historical fashion. And this black woman named Cheyney is a historical reenactor with a focus on African and African-American history, and often overlooked part of history and fashion history in general. She’s done stuff like historical head wraps and similar as well as talked about serious issues like sexual harassment. Most recently she did a video on white people misrepresenting Martin Luther King Jr. Basically if you like channels like Rachel Maksy, Bernadette Banner, or our meme mom Karolina Żebrowska, you’ll probably like her. Or maybe you’re just curious about African history. That’s cool too.
12. Rebranding Autism.
Black autistic rep! Jen is a black autistic woman who talks about autism, the struggles she’s faced and she was literally sent to the notoriously abusive Judge Rotenberg center and talked about the atrocities committed there. She’s amazing and has also made vlogs about her life, made advice videos on mental health that are relatable for many people not just people with autism specifically, tho certainly those too. She also makes music.
13. Tater Tatiana
Small youtuber who is in the anti Onision community. She reviewed Onision’s shitty books. She writes, does drama videos and does beauty videos as well. She read Onision fanfiction on her channel, Lilee Jean tried to take down her channel and she bounced back. I highly recommend the channel, I love Tatiana and I’ve loved watching her channel grow these last few years.
So, that’s my list, will definitely add more later, I hope this didn’t come off as pandering or me thinking black people are charity cases, which they aren’t, this is simply me, a white girl, trying to share some black creators I enjoy instead of just spouting my opinions on tumblr, since I come from a privileged place.

First!
To a degree what I’m doing here with this tumbrl is just a place where I can draw the line between the character I’m playing and the person behind him. While Daniel Jyron is a part of me, it’s mostly the worst side of myself, whenever I post something under the alias “Jyron”(which is just my real last name with a “y” instead of an “i” for no other reason than a fail-safe where googling me won’t make me loose a practical job) I expect you to already be in on the joke that I’m trying to emulate a type of Parody of the youtube commentary/comedy, specifically the worst it can offer.
To my understanding of shows like:
It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office or even FilthyFranktv, there is an inherent need for dark humour. To me seeing Logan Paul crack a tasteless joke right after seeing a fresh suicide victim, was actually funny, but in the worst possible way. After all, that was his real reaction, his unprecedented coping mechanism made him seem like he lacked empathy to a harmful degree, but even after the actual worries society might have about such an event, in my mind, it’s pretty fucking funny.
But allow me to defend myself to save some face, it’s not about the “ha ha someone is dead” mentality, after all, comedy demands empathy, which that statement lacks. It is about a group of young and dumb, egotistical people, thinking it would be great content if they found a dead body on a known location for suicide victims, going there, and having actual surprised Pikachu faces at seeing the goddamned dead body. AND FILMING THE VIDEO WITH A SENSE OF PRIDE AND ACCOMPLISHMENT.
If it didn’t actually happened, something so ridiculous would be the season 2 finale of an internet show to make it seem like the character’s youtube days are over, just for the public to completely forget about the incident a month later and the status quo resets for season 3.
My idea for “Daniel Jyron” is someone that’s the worst you could imagine with a large platform. The internet is so full of humanities lowest scum all hidden behind their glamorous personas, I want to make a Youtube commentator character that has his head so far up his own ass, you can assume he’s a parody. While I have to start there, ultimately my goal would be to make him a full time youtuber doing terrible shit, and never learning about his mistakes to keep him coming back and absolutely destroy the people around him. I want to make the It’s always sunny in Philadelphia of youtube series, a cast of characters with terrible borderline psychotropic personalities, who always achieve enough success to be able to live comfortably, yet their innate greed ruins other people's lives and yet they can’t seem to loose in the grand scheme of things.
I mean I’ve said the main inspiration a lot in this post but if I had to be even more sincere. Think of this equation:
It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia + Icarly = Daniel Jyron
“I always wanted to fuck the blonde one from Icarly“
-A Daniel Jyron tweet Probably
Well I better get started, let me reiterate tho, in this tumblr I would probably tell you my mental process and ruin the jokes by explaining them. I think sincerity is better than just going out there, being mean to people and expecting to be liked without the context that I’m trying to do something. Daniel Jyron would never apologise for anything unless his manager tells him he’ll loose sponsors.I’ll even break the meta here and tell you that I’m my own manager. But I will feel bad for the start of this show, since I have to find real people’s youtube channels and get them involved in this sick game of pretend. I’m thinking of always putting the joke on my character, I do hope I don’t end up making him completely Brain dead as the series goes on, If I do, I hope I can come up with something logical as to why he becomes dumber, if needed.
My debut episode will probably be Keemstar vs H3H3 since it’s such a hot topic right now. Daniel Jyron’s perspective would probably just be concern about losing sponsors for himself, and he would pick the more useful one to defend, which you would think it’s the one with most subscribers, but his manager would tell him he has to back up the one with the drama channel in order to be contrarian and garner more views on his video.
Hope the road is worth it, I know this kind of show can cause some negative attention and garner an audience without real morals, so for “Daniel Jiron” the real person behind the character, I would really appreciate it if you enjoy my ideas without forcing yourself in there or god forbid, trying to copy the shitty behaviours and opinions I’m going to demonstrate on this “show”. It’s a fake reality my guy, it’s not something that should define who you are, just what you enjoy. Then again, if it really defines your personality, just do me the favor of obeying the law and not cause trouble to yourself. Anyways, thanks for reading this, after all, as I write this I’m not even certain if people are going to get what I’m gonna try to do, but I hope we all have fun.

It’s fucking crazy how in a show meant to wake the general populace up, people really do seem to hate majority of the female characters. Note it’s only the complex ones, because god forbid Margret Atwood wrote them as shades of grey and not as definitively “evil” or “good”.
I’ve been in quite a few shitty fandoms in my day but I’m not certain I’ve been in one quite as overwhelmingly tone deaf as The Handmaid’s Tale fandom. I have never seen so much hypocrisy and virtue signalling and fake wokeness in a singular fandom with source material (in terms of the original novel and S1/2 at least) that directly opposes those things. Like I was in GoT fandom for a while and holy shit the misogyny there. So, I know what it looks like. But the thing about that hellplace was that there was still a fairly recognisable and approachable faction that loudly and actively spoke out about the sheer number of issues with GoT (racism, misogyny, etc.) I feel like those people gave up on the show about mid-run, and GoT was left with a bunch of idiots and “libfems” by the end.
The thing about THT is that it appears to be 95% idiots and fake-woke “feminists” I put it in quotes cos they are NOT feminists. They just like to identify as that cos it’s trendy. They have no idea what feminism is if they centre Nick in the THT narrative, or refuse to engage with any female character other than June or Emily in any rational way and instead wish rape, violence, torture, death, and/or intense suffering on any female character (or apparently actor who plays said character!) they personally dislike because they don’t have the braincells to understand what Atwood specifically was trying to do.)
When THT becomes all about a MALE and his precious fweelings, and his uwu luv stowwy wiv Jwune and all they focus on is how “cool” June is for bullying other Handmaids into suicide, and how “awesome” she is for being 1000% selfish and self-absorbed and not caring at all about all the other women (esp. poor women of colour) she tramples on to get what she wants, that is NOT GOOD. This is a character who purposely and actively manipulated a domestic abuse victim to go back to her abusive, violent, cheater, rapist husband for June’s own ends. (And surprise, surprise that blew up in her face and people really take June’s side 100% on that cos “Serena deserves Fred” aka “Serena deserves to be beaten, raped, and abused by her husband because she’s a bad woman who has done bad things herself”. When you are saying a woman, no matter who they are, deserves to be beaten and raped and imprisoned in that situation, you are not a feminist because that isn’t justice for Serena’s crimes. That is torture.) Nothing June did in S3 was heroic. She is almost no better than the woman she hates at this point. I see very little difference between June and Serena anymore, and yet… YET fans think the sun shines out of June’s ass and Serena should be raped to death (aka “Wouldn’t it be soooo cool if Serena became a Handmaid?! Omg so cool! She deserves it! Hurr durr I am FEMINIST!!!!”).
O.o
There is zero nuance in THT fandom. It’s fine to dislike female characters. It’s fine to be critical of them. It’s fine to like male characters (I guess…). But centring men in a woman’s story and then parroting Gilead’s ideals unironically while calling yourself woke? It’s terrifying.
June is so gross in S3, and when she isn’t being awful, she’s written as some child-crazed, hysterical woman. The writers’ full sexism and internalized (or externalized lol) misogyny on clear display. And the fans just LAP IT UP with no critical thought. No complaint. Like, “Yes, this is what a woman should be!” nevermind the entire purpose of the commentary in the novel (and S1) was that women are MORE than just hysterical, overly emotional baby-machines or housekeepers. Women are not mere resources to be harvested like cattle. Women have more personality than just “ME WANT BABBY!!!” Women are resourceful and complex and not all good, not all bad. Women are conflicted and conflicting. Meanwhile, now the show presents women almost identically to how Serena Joy wrote about them, and how Gilead has identified them, and the fans are like “Yeah! This is fine! I don’t see any problems with this at all!”
And if you dare say, “Um, guys, that’s a pretty bad take. Do you understand what you’re actually saying?” you get called a “rape apologist!!! HURRRR!!!! WHAT ABUT 2x10!!!!!” And it literally doesn’t matter what you challenge these fans about, whether it’s Nick, the themes of THT, Serena, June, etc. They see you are a fan of Serena and suddenly the discourse deteriorates completely to “Nazi!!!! you’re a rapist nazi sympathizer!!!!!!!!!”
So, there’s no point in talking to any of them. Yeah, cos I’m the one saying women I don’t like deserve to be raped and beaten until they die as slaves in an oppressive fascist regime. (That’s actually you guys, jsyk.) My favourite was being compared to an MRA. Like, do you people even read what you write?
I’m not the one talking non-stop about how great Mr. Soggy Pancake Man is and how we must protect this precious bean in a story about massive female oppression uwu. “BUT WHAT ABOUT NICK?!?! MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTER!!!” I hate men, lol. I can’t count the number of times I’ve literally said, “I don’t give a shit about ANY of the men in THT. I only care about women and you people are misogynistic pigs for the way you talk about women.” yet I’m a Men’s Rights Activist?
What I hear when I go into the tags:
“All women are awful harpies and stupid or boring except this specific one cos we want her to bone the Cute Boy we’re obsessed with and she’s just basically a self-insert for our own lonely fantasies and we need to only hear about the Cute Boy, not these annoying women. If a woman character interferes or challenges my heterosexual fantasy OTP in any way, that woman must suffer and die, and I’ll laugh and cheer as that happens, especially if she’s beaten by her husband or loses her mind/commits suicide! They deserve it! Also, who really cares about all those other women’s stories elsewhere in the world. BORING! My white saviour self-insert main female character can do no wrong because I am perfect! I’ll even go out of my way and actively search out people who aren’t doing anything to me, aren’t talking to me at all and just keeping to themselves, and send online threats, hate, and insults to anybody who doesn’t agree with me about how great Mr. Stale Bread is and they’re Nazis for not agreeing with me.”
And I’M the MRA? I’m the crazy one?
No self-awareness at all. No nuance. No critical thinking skills. And a HELL of a lot of projection that they don’t even seem to know they’re making. There are grown ass women (like 40 YEAR OLDS!) who worship Nick Bland’s ugly dick, online bullying literal minors who don’t subscribe to the Serena-Hate groupthink. It’s a cesspool. THT fandom fucking SUCKS. I’m gonna guess it’s these same morons who wished that Yvonne would lose her baby cos you hate SERENA. Like, if you don’t think this is disgusting, I don’t know how else to get it through to you that something is VERY WRONG with the vast majority of online THT fandom.
99% of this fandom doesn’t seem to give a fuck what Atwood was trying to say in her novel, or what the show intentionally set out to do challenge and prove. Anyway, anon. I feel ya. I hate this fandom which is why I never check the tags anymore, never go on Twitter, unfollowed the Insta, don’t go on FB, and stick with my very wonderful small group of non-crazies who also appreciate the complex, difficult character of Serena here – and block everyone else I can because I just don’t have time for that kind of constant drama and aggravation from ignorant people.
Wow. Okay. Sorry. Rant over.

Why Dan, Phil, PJ, and Chris are the Most Underrated Creators
Before I begin, let me just state that this is in no way meant to be an attack towards other creators. There are a lot of incredibly talented creators out there today. In fact, I wish I was as talented as 99% of these people because then maybe I wouldn’t be rotting away in a godforsaken cubicle in a dead end job (don’t go into software engineering kids. You will hate everything and yourself). That being said, if you find yourself offended at any point during this narrative, please accept this homemade apology from me:
Tumblr media
With that out of the way, let’s go!
Prior to YouTube’s existence, bored people like myself mainly browsed websites like Ebaum’s World, Stupid Videos, Albino Black Sheep, and shitty flash sites for bizarre, humorous, and at times traumatizing content (anybody remember The End of the World, Numa Numa, and Schfifty-Five before they were uploaded to YouTube?) . Enter 2005 -  the birth of YouTube! At that time, I was one very bored 15 year old full of angst. YouTube offered up a new way to find content that appealed to millennials like myself. Not only that, but YouTube became the platform for people to connect with the world by sharing their interests, thoughts, and work with the world! While I never uploaded anything to YouTube, I spent an unhealthy amount of time searching and stumbling upon videos. Things got exciting in 2006 when I discovered a wonderful YouTuber you may know as AmazingPhil! Subsequently over the years, I would find myself stumbling upon Dan, Chris, and PJ.
Let’s start with the first of the four I encountered - Phil Lester. Honestly, is there anyone on YouTube, let alone this planet, who is nicer than Phil? Even though he is a true YouTube trailblazer, he has fewer subscribers and gets less appreciation than his collaborator and best friend, Dan Howell. In spite of this, Phil does not get envious and remains fully supportive of not only Dan, but all of his friends. Phil is the paragon of a sincerely kind and generous human being. If more people in the world strived to be more like Phil, humanity would be better off. Phil’s creativity and talent never fails to make me smile and amaze (well, he is AmazingPhil!) me. I love his light-hearted silly jokes and when he spontaneously bursts into song (my favorite is in the Snake Oil video PJ did with Dan and Phil - “He slithers down your chimney/ He licks you while you sleep/ You don’t know where he’s been tonight/ He’s a snake on Christmas Eve”). Here is a guy who has accomplished so much in his life so far - graduated with a master’s degree, presented on BBC Radio 1 with Dan, won a Guinness World Record for coin stacking, and invented the game concept for the 7 Second Challenge app. Personally, I think Phil offers higher quality content than many other YouTubers. As a viewer, I can tell that when Phil makes a video, he puts in so much effort and heart. Yet, do others truly appreciate Phil’s talent, creativity, and personality? If I walked into a random crowd on the streets of Seattle and asked the crowd’s opinions on Phil Lester, what do you think would happen? I’m willing to bet most people would look at me as if I just asked them to solve a differential equation. Phil is so genuine both as a creator and person, and I wish more people appreciated him for all he does.
Next up is Dan Howell! I have yet to encounter a person who is as eloquent in their vocabulary and sarcasm as Dan. As someone who was also raised on Winnie the Pooh (and raised by an intensely literature/English focused mom. English class didn’t end after school for me!), stumbling upon a YouTuber like Dan was one of the best things to happen to me. Intelligent and bona fide, Dan is someone I could sit with over some tea or wine and have in-depth discussions with. While I love Dan’s typical commentary on his experiences with social awkwardness, being an outcast, and making mistakes, once in a blue moon he will post a very sagacious and intensely emotional video. Daniel and Depression is one of those videos. In this video, Dan opens up about his experiences in understanding and managing his depression. After watching his video, I took some time to absorb and dissect the content I just watched. As someone who has been dealing with chronic depression and anxiety since childhood, this was a video that profoundly struck a chord with me. Dan’s videos are very engaging and easy for many people to relate to. Even as I’ve gotten older, I still find the content Dan posts to be easy to relate to. For all his sardonic humor and sarcasm, Dan comes across as a very kind and generous person. Everything he creates is done with so much insight and character. I hope Dan continues to produce the content he does!
Now then, on to PJ Liguori! If there is one channel that you will never find another one like it, it is KickThePj. The first video I ever saw on his channel was Retro MakeOver. I immediately subscribed to his channel after watching that video. PJ takes his artwork and creativity to whole different level on his channel. Not only can he draw, but he is musically inclined and an outstanding storyteller. The way in which PJ tells his stories with a twist of imagination makes his videos unlike anything I’ve ever seen both prior to and during the existence of YouTube. I love how as a viewer, I feel as if I’m in the moment with PJ, observing his imagination in action - nothing feels scripted! The way he engages with his viewers is also very genuine (I know I’ve said that a lot. Honestly all four of these guys can be described as genuine). PJ seems like a very pleasant person that I’d gladly chill with over a card or board game. I’m honestly surprised that more people haven’t discovered PJ or don’t seem to have an appreciation for this type of content. In a world that seems to demand more originality and creativity, you couldn’t find a better creator than PJ. PJ is a one in a million and a very talented creator. I can’t wait to see what he does next both on and outside of YouTube!
Finally, but not least, Chris Kendall! I would venture to say that no one could get through one of Chris’ videos without laughing their socks off. Chris does some the best impersonations and parodies I’ve seen on YouTube! I love his casual attitude in his gaming videos where he just acts like himself and doesn’t take things too seriously (his random burping always makes my day :P). Much like the other three, his content is original and there is a discernible effort in his videos. Case and point - both of his I Can’t Even YouTube Quiz shows. I laughed until I was in tears during both of them and loved all of the geeky references! I would describe quite a bit of his humor as both geeky and classically British. Beyond his comedy, Chris is also a great actor. Both in his videos and collaboration videos, his acting skills are impeccable and he is absolutely hilarious! I was sad when Chris took a hiatus from YouTube (though I understood), but I am happy he’s back to creating more awesome content. Chris is a creator that I hope more people will discover and follow!
I hope to be fortunate enough one day to meet all four of these wonderful men outside of a computer screen. If anything, to shake their hands (and hug them if they’re ok with it) and thank them for how much each of them have positively impacted me in some way or another. If any of them are reading this, thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts and for all the great work you are doing!!

Video
youtube
Alrighty! I’m sharing this video as part of Marks birthday request, I’m going to share the first episode of Outlast 1 on my Facebook but this here has a whole nother meaning to it. So buckle the fuckle up cuz we about to write a novel or whatever!
So I know this isn’t an old video but it has everything to do with why I subscribed to mark ages and ages ago when dinosaurs still bussed tables at the last supper.
Roughly four or five years ago I was homeless, no not couch surfing, genuinely homeless. I had a camp under a bridge near Longview Washington and got my resources from either begging or scavenging. I had one friend, Steven, who had access to a shitty laptop that someone tossed. He liked to watch online videos, mostly cats and/or gun related stuff. It was a nice reprieve from our daily hell. One of these video watching expirences involved what I referred to as a “moron with bad hair” screaming a lot. And I mean a LOT! I thought it was stupid, but my friend insisted that we had to watch him and i obliged. After all, we didn’t have many comforts, why not let him watch some guy yelling loud? About three months later someone stole the laptop, and all we had were flip phones, our days of YouTube had ended. I think this hit Steven harder than it hit me.
We continued our lives on the road for a few more months and I made it to Montana, I found out my mother was there and wanted to see her and my little sister. Steven followed shortly after.
We lived in the garage for two weeks in the winter. During that time I had a revelation, I had been doing this for years… But I couldn’t do this as an old woman. I couldn’t scrounge food if my hands were old and frozen, I couldn’t run away from danger with arthritis in my knees, I couldn’t survive a cold night, I couldn’t fight if someone attacked me. I brought it up to Steven, who at the time was watching “Shark Boy” doing a vlog on a phone he borrowed from my step dad. He was talking about motivation, doing better and being better than what he was right now. Improving his life with the help of his supporters. I didn’t know why at the time, but I felt motivation at those words. I set out to find a job the next morning. An overall unsuccessful endeavour that led to me finding out about a place called Job Corps at a local youth shelter. We both applied immediately, I made it in. Steven didn’t. It was a hard goodbye, but a necessary one. After a year training in construction carpentry and earning my HSD while living on the campus I met another Steven. He was a raging nerd who always had a laptop on him and almost always was watching videos that he had downloaded off the library computer. Feeling that ol crave for friendship I started hanging out with him, and one day asked to join him while he was watching videos. Guess what he was watching. That motherfucking sharknado of a YouTuber! He was playing a game called Outlast. I was enthralled, I loved the game to death, and the commentary actually cracked me up. For the next few months I downloaded his videos (we weren’t allowed access to YouTube or facebook, some moron ruined that) when they became available, watching through the whole series and even digging up some of his older videos. Hell I even found that motivational vlog I had watches almost a year prior. This guy was FUCKING hilarious. I became a huge fan, and even tried to send fanmail to him once or twice. Shortly after I graduated I got my own place, I got a shitty touch screen phone, made an account, subscribed to Mark, and watched his videos as I lived on a mattress eating ramen noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. His vlogs motivated me to join FEMA and voulenteer with NCCC, his gameplay made me laugh even when I was crying seconds before, his heartfelt words and our awesome community made me realise I wasn’t alone.
Right now I have a stable job, a great apartment in Portland, and I’m reconnected with my family.
This video, Outlast 2, is very symbolic for me. It felt like the closing of a loop. In that moment, when I saw that notification pop up, the world rocked for a moment. I saw little 20 year old homeless me. I saw all the hopelessness that I lived in for years and years, and I saw that all change, get better, and move toward a brighter future all because of a couple of Stevens and a laptop with a sharky screamer on it.
No matter how trivial it may have been at first, I have no doubt that Mark helped me change my life. And he continues to help, motivating me when I feel like I’m losing my way.
That’s why this video is so important, because it marks a point in a journey that I haven’t completed yet; it reminds me (in its own weird way) that I can rise out of anything and become better.
TL;DR: I’m not saying Outlast 1 saved my life, but I am saying it sure as hell helped, Thank you Mark. Thank you so damn much.
Happy Birthday bruv.

Dark Nights: Hawkman Found #1
I preferred when Hawkman remained lost.
At some point, somebody decided that the antagonist of every superhero story should be a dark reflection of the superhero. So now every story is completely narcissistic with the hero disappearing up their own ass.
I hear what you're saying, jabbering smoke monster: "Who else should a comic book called 'Batman' be about if not Batman?!" Well, maybe it could be about justice or acting as a responsible father figure to broken children or saving a city on the brink of destruction or doing the right thing no matter how much you have to sacrifice. It doesn't always have to be about Batman seeing what he might have become if he didn't have the inner strength and intellectual clarity he somehow developed all on his own without any help from parents (no matter how much the butler tries to take credit for some of it). How many of Batman's villains eventually just became shadows of Batman himself? Wrath. Hush. Bane. Even The Joker became molded more toward being the antithesis of Batman rather than some psychotic maniac trying to make a bit of money. If the only enemies we're going to get are twisted versions of the heroes, at least make them whimsical or interesting, like Bizarro or Nam-Tab! I just made up Nam-Tab. He's an ex-Vietcong soldier who drank a Tab can mixed with napalm. He's super poor and his parents weren't murdered in an alley. Now he spends his life trying to murder parents in alleys because his life probably would have been better if his parents had been killed that way. He doesn't have a butler and has never taken in children as wards and has a dog named Eca. The rest of the story is the just the dream repeated. Hawkman fights back against the Manhawks. Hawkman discovers the dark Hawkman keeping him imprisoned. Hawkman defeats him and escapes on newly found wings. The wings fall apart and he falls to his death, only to wake just before he dies. Basically his prison or afterlife or wherever he is is just a dark reflection of his life on Earth where he constantly died and was reborn. Dark Nights: Hawkman Found #1 Ranking: The only reason anybody needed to buy this comic book was because they're completists and it said "Dark Nights Metal Tie-In" on the cover. Hawkman was never actually found. The reader just learns where Hawkman has been since his sales dropped through the floor due to terrible writers telling his stories (that probably weren't even worth telling even if a great writer had been on the book). Apparently Hawkman has been off trying to save the Multiverse by working the Dark Forge. That's important for some reason that I've already forgotten because it was dumb. This book didn't make me curious enough to go back and remember why that was. For more stupid comic book commentary, subscribe to the Eee! Tess Ate Chai Newsletter at Tinyletter.com/GrunionGuy!
